I bow before you, my teacher

Makhesthai breathed heavily through his nose and his tongue hanging loosely from his mouth in a hard pant, his chest heaving with the effort he was putting in, the muscles of his new arms trembling with fatigue yet he kept on going. The Tirones Minor was determined that no more would he be a useless parasite on the clan, sucking up their resources whilst offering them nothing back in return. Again and again he heaved his body upwards with just his arms grasping onto the low lying branch of the tree, the youngest of the Lykoi clan pushed his small body to its limit and then some.

He had been loitering around the old mansion that several of the clan lived in, the Forest of Nod was an interesting place for a child to explore and he had followed an old coyote scent to the huge mansion. Wandering around its perimeter and scouting out the gardens attached to it. He didn't enter the building itself as the little pup was too afraid to go in alone and after almost falling into the empty swimming pool, although Makhesthai did not understand that its purpose was for swimming in when filled with water to him it had simply been a giant pointless hole in the ground.

His grip on the branch loosened slightly and he adjusted it, his claws digging into the aged bark with a slight scratching noise. He was proud of himself today because he had managed to shift from his four legged form to his two legged form and it had taken less time than the last time he had done it. It was this small amount of pride in his slowly increasing abilities that kept his arms working long after he would have normally given up on his own.

As always, her approach was silent and sudden. But she had watched him for a few minutes, veiled in the shadows living inside the rooms of the mansion. Although there was no smile to brighten her slender face, she thought this to be a positive surprise. It was rare for her to get a glimpse of another member dedicated to a task in such a manner. Hues of soft rubies did not soften as she watched the commitment of a child that would still be considered too young for labour in some eyes. But Halo believed that the sooner the young ones were thrown into real life the better. The fake Lykoi boy had already experienced much more than some canines ever would in a lifetime. There were two outcomes in such cases, and the boy did not seem intent on the path of withering. Perhaps there really was a fighter in him.

The Triarii stepped up behind him, but her choice to appear suddenly was not meant to frighten him. She simply did not think too much about it. Every day was meant to be a day where she could improve on all areas, and to sneak up on another and remain unseen until the very end was a skill she sought perfection in as well. Always the endless pursuit of perfection in what she did. But she had seen promise in the boy. Had he come the way here from the caves in an attempt to impress her by working his body so close to her home? Halo was quick to think demeaning thoughts of others, but it was an issue she was actually trying to deal with. The boy was here, and no matter the reason why, he was proving to her that he had meant the words he had said when she first had met him. That was not bad at all.

Walking up next to the boy hanging from the branch, she curled her fingers into a loose fist and let it lunge at his ribcage, which was well exposed as he was hanging from the branch with both hands occupied.

The boy was not a stupid boy, for a child abused as he was and kept from the knowledge that pups would learn from their mothers he was actually quire smart. But then the pup needed no mother, Inferni was his teacher and guide, its members soon to be his brothers and sister as they all fought to keep the clan safe from those who would threaten them. It was that thought that kept the pup pushing his body past where any other would have given up, unknowing that the very woman who he wanted to prove useful to was watching him with her bloodied gaze and assuming mind.

As the woman came out from within the mansion still Makhesthai did not notice her presence although the feeling of being watched, one that he could trace well back into his younger days even before he had opened his eyes, prickled over his shoulders in awareness. Before Maki could twist around to see who it was, the rush of air let him know that some part of an anatomy was speeding towards his body. He let go of the branch with the intent to dodge by dropping but the fist still caught him in the side and sent the boy spinning away from the tree. The coybrid child twisted his body around to face his attacker, falling back into a stance that could only be described as defensive with his hands raised up as though to protect himself and was surprised to find Miss Halo the one who had struck him while he had been training himself.

The pup immediately bowed in respect to the fierce sub leader although still holding himself at the ready for another attack, Halo did not do anything without a reason and Maki assumed this was something she was teaching him.

"Ma'am." The word was not a question, it was a statement, a simple acknowledgement that she was here and he had noticed her and a mesure of respect

The response she was met with did not match her expectations. Cold eyes watched his form fall without elegance on to the hard ground. She remained still as he swiftly got up on his feet and turned to face his attacker. There was no warmth in her face, but no disapproval either. The boy was slowly proving not to be a dim-witted creature, and his behaviour immediately before her fist had hit had revealed that he had noticed her presence and acted accordingly. It was a very good sign, and earned the beautiful warrior’s approval, though he would not be aware of it as long as she hid everything away behind her cold mask.

His bow was awarded with a firm dip of the woman’s slender muzzle. Some members of the coyote clan did not even get that much from her. He did not cry out and whine as many other children would have, and she appreciated that. But there were generally few young souls in Inferni. She had met with dumb wolf puppies many times and they remained incredibly pathetic in her eyes. Makhesthai’s story was a cruel one, and perhaps he was not as much a child as he was a survivor. He did not have the time to protect his young innocence, for it had already been taken from him by a cruel mother. ”Makhesthai,” she returned, glad to find that she remembered his name.

”I’m surprised you noticed my presence so quickly,” the red eyed female said, turning her gaze away from his form and toward the mansion. ”What gave me away?” there would always be areas she too would have to improve in.

sorry for the wait and suckiness

Sapphire blue orbs showed his surprise as she dipped her slender muzzle back at him, Halo was someone who was bowed to not someone who bowed to others. The swiftly growing pup was puzzled by the display and by the lack of disapproving emotions on her beautiful face, the Lykoi but not Lykoi child was again surprised that she remembered his name as well from their meeting over a month ago, she seemed a busy woman and therefore remembering her lowers names was not high on her list of things to do.

The child rolled his shoulders to crack them and stretch out the muscles and flexed his hands, Her question had his ear perking and at first the boy did not know how to answer the new centurion. His eyes swept with hers to encompass the mansion and he kept it to himself that he had yet to enter the human structure.

"I'm used to being watched, I can feel it prickling on my shoulders when someone is watching me." Orange furred paws touched his shoulders briefly and the stump of his missing ear twisted as much as it could towards the woman.

"If it would not offend, I would congratulate you on your promotion to Centurion." Makhesthai was genuinely happy for Halo, it showed in his voice and expression, and he could think of no better person to have assisting Gabriel in leading the clan.

ooc ending: They talk for a little bit and then Halo walks away as she usually does! Big Grin
