Unable To Be Saved

OOC here: Table & Coding © Hickey; So yeah, this is for the contest. Let's try and get through this quickly. Within the first few days of April, yes? Can just be the 10 post (5 each) min is fine by me; 338 words

Sele left the caves behind in order to wander around the forested area of Anathema. She eased her way around on her hands as she always did. She walked around the borders of Anathema to check to see if anything had been caught and trapped within the spread out pits that had been dug around the area. It was the way that she tended to catch food for the most part. After all she wasn't that well adjusted to shifting to end up doing it the old way. And when there were things to be found this way worked quite well.

There was only one pit with something in it. So of course she dropped her feet to the ground so that she could lay down upon her belly. She was on the short side so laying flat on the ground and reaching into the hole gave her a bit more reach. Especially since she could ease her way slightly into the pit to grab the animal that was trapped inside. It also allowed her to wiggle backwards so that she could pull up the animal and then sit up on her knees.

She held the rabbit by the ears as she pulled it out. She then tried to shift her grip on it, reaching with her other hand to grab it by the neck. When she got her hand close the rabbit bit her and she ended up dropping it to the ground. The animal scampered quickly away as Sele held onto her own hand. "Stupid Sele, very stupid. Why did you do that? Now what you are going to eat? You are stupid. So useless. Can't even get food right. Not even when it was sitting in a hole and waiting for you. No, you just had to let it go and let it get away." She berated herself out loud as she was prone to do when she messed something up. Besides, she didn't imagine anyone to be in the vicinity to even hear her.

Panda hadn't been in the pack for long at all, and this morning she had woken up in the arms of the man who insisted on sleeping in her bed even though they claimed a big enough den for them both to have their own rooms. Panda didn't bother to tell him to go away because in all honesty, she didn't want him to go away. Truth was, Panda slept better with him next to her than she did by herself. He was a bed warmer really, and he did a good job at it because he was a very good snuggle-buddy. When she had woke up, she had left the man in the den, because he willingly let go of her and then he rolled over in bed to face his back towards her. Panda stood up and look at her friend, and cooed at how cute he was when he slept. She let out a short yawn and she stretched her limbs. She then looked around the cave, and then she had looked to her bowl that was on one of her selves. She didn't want to wait to smoke, but she was extremely hungry (she thought that she fell asleep without hunting the night before, which was what happened) and she needed to get some food in her stomach as soon as possible. Panda shook out her bi colored pelt and then she had found her clothing and got dressed. She slipped her shorts on, and then her skirt over it and then she grabbed Venom's plaid shirt and she put that on before she had left the den of Venom and Panda.

She hadn't been good at knowing where to go when she did leave the cave yet, because the tunnels all looked the same to her still. She figured at some point in time she would be able to stumble these hallways drunk when she got used to this new place. So with that being said, it took Panda a few times to actually leave the caves,but not without awkwardly walking into other people's dens. Most were empty at the time she walked in, but she walked in on a few people too before she was pointed in the right direction and she finally made it out into the early morning air. It still had that chill to it that Panda loved to be in. She smiled lightly as she stepped gracefully onto the firm ground and she moved to where she could find a place to do some early morning meditating. The bi-colored woman had walked for some time until she heard a familiar voice. She then saw a rabbit pass right by her. Panda was quick to act on the rabbit, grabbing it with her hands and then snapping it's neck to kill it. She remembered the words, and figured that this might be the meal that the voice had been talking about. Panda moved to where she could see Selene sitting there, beating herself up about it. Panda dropped the rabbit next to Selene, and offered a smile to the woman. Both of Panda's ears were pulled forward and she put her hands behind her back and put them together. She then opened her mouth to speak. You're not worthless, Selene. Trust me, a few of these mofos got away from me too. They are slippery bastards at times. the woman spoke, friendly smile still on her maw. And good morning. Did you sleep well?

Selene was surprised when a dead rabbit suddenly appeared next to her. Where had that come from? But then a voice spoke up and she knew. It was the newest member that she had met at the borders. Or well one of them. Her male counterpart wasn't with her this time. Vaguely she wondered what had happened to him. Why the female was all alone. But she couldn't focus on that since she had been spoken to. She wasn't sure what to say to the other. How could she tell her that the rabbit had been sitting in a hole and all she had to do was pull it out and yet she had still managed to lose it. Though now it had come back in a sense.

She picked the rabbit up and held it up for Panda to take it back. "You caught it fair and square so it is yours." She couldn't possibly take the other female's food away from her. It just wouldn't be right. Sele had been unable to kill it herself so she didn't deserve it. She would just have to try again sometime later is all. There were still more holes to check after all.

"Good morning to you as well. I slept decently." Which was a lie since every time that she closed her eyes all she could picture were dead bodies surrounding her. The smile she wore wasn't a real one but she could fool the general public with it. She had gotten rather good at hiding what it was that she truly thought and felt under this mask of pretended happiness. "Did you sleep well? Are you settling in easily enough?" She knew that for those not already used to the cave system it could be quite a daunting task to navigate. It would take same getting used to. Even living underground was different for most. But Sele liked the security of it. It remained her of the cult, the one place that she had been truly happy for a short period of time.

Selene picked up the rabbit and handed it back to Panda. Panda shook her head. You caught it before me. You said so yourself. the woman spoke to her, a charming smile still sitting on her face. She could always go hunting for food when her friend was awake and ready for food. The two were a perfect couple to go out hunting because they had the same style of hunting, so there were no confusions when it came to who did what. Panda did not take the offering back, and just looked at the woman with that smile and her chocolate eyes on the woman. In this early morning light, it looked as if the woman's eyes were actually brighter, and less chocolate. Her eyes were prone to becoming slightly lighter and darker depending on what light was touching her beautiful chocolate eyes. Selene then went on to say good morning to Panda and then tell her that she slept well. Panda was busy looking at this woman's aura, trying to pick out the colors to see if they were shifted any way at all. She had a harder time finding it without the influence of her own aura and the aura of Venom to press against the other woman's but she soon was able to find something, sparks of dark, muddy forest green had emerged. Panda was familiar with this color right away because it had been one of the very first aura's she had ever seen clearly. It made Panda wonder why the woman in front of her had this color, for it was the color of insecurity, self-punishment, low self-esteem. What made Selene this way?

An ear would flick as a voice that rose in the air had been directed to the bi-colored wolvess. It was Venom, trying to locate where Panda had gone. Panda looked to the direction her friend had been in and she raised her own voice to the sky to call the man. Once her song was over, she turned her attention back to Selene. Selene asked her if she was settled in good, and if she had a decent sleep. Panda nodded her head almost eagerly to the woman, smile still on her face. Yuh, actually. I'm sure Venom slept well too. He was still sleeping when I left. the woman spoke to Selene, a small pause and then she continued to speak to her. The caves are hard to navigate in for me still, but I'm sure the longer I'm here the better I'll get at it. It's all just a new place still. But other than that, Alex and I are pretty comfy in our part of the caves. the woman spoke, Venom's middle name coming out instead of his first name, only because she was used to calling him both Venom and Alex.

Selene.... do you meditate at all? Ever went to a shaman for spiritual healing? the woman randomly asked, wondering if she had ever encountered a shaman who was able to see what she saw.
