This river that we ride has always been alive

Backdated to March 26, if that's okay :3 And if you don't want Anu going all the way out to meet him you can have her call back to him and PP him coming to wherever she is in your reply <3

It seemed that things had finally more or less calmed down in the tribe. The storm had been a devastating blow to them, and with Dawali injured, Nayati had taken it upon himself to pick up the slack. There was still a lot to be done and the rebuilding of the village was only just beginning, but the Utina was able to breathe easier now. The Kalona's recovering was coming along and soon he and Lili would be leaving on a trip to the Great Tribe. It would be the first time he had seen his family in over a year and he was eager to get on the road. To help with his sudden itch to travel, the man decided he should visit the few friends he had outside of AniWaya before he departed for about a moon. The first he would go see was one of the leaders of the neighboring pack Crimson Dreams. He and Anu had only met on one occasion, but he had instantly felt a connection with the elder woman and had greatly enjoyed her company and conversation. Plus, aside from her, he had met a good number of Dreamers and yet still had never set eyes on the pack's lands. It seemed high time to change that.

Nayati had left early in the morning with Iye and since the space between his home and hers was not far it did not take long to cover, especially not upon horseback. There was no fence that defined the Dreaming pack's land as it did the tribe's, but the scent marking was a good enough indicator of the boundaries. Pale blue gaze looked out across the lands with interest but he spied no souls anywhere in his immediate area. There was no telling where Anu was and he would hate to disturb her, but he could not in good conscience cross that invisible line even if it likely would not be held against him. The strong male threw back his head and issued a call for the second-in-command, hoping he had come at a good time.

yayyyyyyy!

She could feel the Spring on the air, the Sun was shining brighter and brighter with each passing day and Anu could tell their distance was shortening. The world seemed to be moving once again, no longer in the stagnant hold of winter. The pack had been set free from the walls of Haven Manor and Anu had found her place at the pack’s borders once more. It was her duty to search them for intruders, just as it was her natural instinct.

But, despite that obligation the female was a wanderer at heart. She could be caught day dreaming, watching the clouds or (just as she was doing now) examining the dormant trunk of a small yearling tree. Delicate fingers touched the bark that had been ripped off, her heart singing a soft song of sorrow for the tree that had hardly begun to live and would not likely die from the teeth of a hungry deer. The clearing had begun to sprout new trees, but she was afraid that this one would not grow like the lucky aged giants that stood to her back.

The wolf walked around the clearing, weaving between the desperately growing trees to leave her scent. She would return, to hunt these grounds and hopefully keep prey from returning to damage the saplings more. The fey gave a huff, kneeling once more to look at the tree’s injury. But as she did there was a call that came to her ears. Anu stood, finding that the vocals asked for her specifically. It was masculine, and such a thing confused her. She knew the tones of her sons, and she had even memorized the voice of the Inferni alpha. Who was this that looked for her?

Anu took to a jog in her Optime form, but found that the scent of the calling beast was not far at all. She slowed, now knowing that it was Nayati that had come for her. She appeared from the forest, a silver form among the snow and between the tall giants that guarded her home. A smiled played along her features, but she was soft in her greeting. Welcome Nayati.

The hunter of course could not know how long he might have to wait for the woman to make an appearance and so he let his eyes gaze over the territory of the Dreaming wolves more fully. I was clearly a vast land and as he tentatively sniffed at the air he could tell there was water nearby. A powerful river it seemed for his ears could pick up the faintest sounds of rushing water. The snow was melting and likely fueling all rivers into the area into a frenzy. It would not be a surprise if there were problems with some areas of the land becoming flooded due to all the snow that was now becoming liquid and had so few places to go. Only makeshift huts had been reconstructed in AniWaya so far, since the ground would need to be clear and dry before any serious building could be done. Hopefully by the time he and Liliana returned he would be able to build their new, permanent home.

Sounds of someone approaching caught his keen ears and that pale hunter's gaze came to rest on the lithe form of the elder wolfess that he had come calling upon. A smile molded easily onto his strong face as he hopped down from his mount to greet the Dreaming leader on the level. The painted man bowed his head in respect before he returned to his full height. "I thank you for your welcome Anu." His voice was deep and warm, despite the still-present chill in the air. "It is good to see you. I hope Crimson Dreams has fared well throughout the hard moons, and yourself as well." Winter was hard on all living things, but the degree of severity was often quite different even in a small area.

Her breath was calm even though she had hurried to see who it was that had come for her. Anu did not have many looking for her company, not many the resided beyond her borders. Her sons would come straight to the Manor is she needed them, or if they needed her, and so she had been interested to know who was seeking her attention and company.

The pale wolf that had sung her name was a welcomed one, their history was not long or tangled but still there was a deep connection the brought a smile to her face. He leapt from the horses back, and Anu met him as he approached her with a smile and a respectful bow of his crown. She watched the light blues of his gaze, and noticed that he was no painted only in one place across the bridge of his snout but also across his chest.

She nodded, “We have managed, thankfully we have only suffered small damages to our home.” Indeed we they patrolled the outskirts of the territory they were met with fallen branches and trees. ” I am well because of it.” Anu was only as well as the pack. But the Manor was whole, and so she was grateful. ”And the tribe?” She questioned, buy eyes looking up at the taller wolf.

There was such a sense of serenity that emanated from the Dreaming leader and that was perhaps one of the reasons he felt so drawn to her. It was just as present this cool day as on the one that he had first met her, when the weather was still fair and winter had not yet wrecked its ills across the land. It pleased him that she appeared happy to see him; a reassurance that the connection he had felt with the woman was not one-sided. It was good to hear that the blizzard had not caused so much damage here as it had in his own home. Just because the tribe had suffered did not mean he wished the same dire fate upon any other pack. It seemed that the way they built their huts had been the reason they had felt so much strife, for Krystalle's pack had not seemed to have endured as much damage either.

"It is good to hear that the troubles you faced were small in size, and also that you are well personally." She looked perhaps thinner than she had, but that was only to be expected. He was sure that his own form was not so filled out as it had been in the warmer months; hunting had been difficult since the storm. "We were not quite so lucky, I am afraid. Most of our huts were destroyed in the blizzard. We have persevered though, and hopefully will be able to start to rebuild in earnest soon." The damage had been a double blow to them. First for the initial losses, and second was the fact that little could be done until the ground was free of snow. They had not fallen to despair though, and that was the most important thing.

Anu had suffered little compared to her close friends and pack mates. There was no lover for her to loose, none of her children had fallen into a endless slumber only to wake changed, none had passed into the land of the dead, her house had not fallen and her heart was unscathed. The pain of Alder's departure had eased, dwindling as the time passed and the good news that was brought to her about him. Anu only cried for those around her, she only hoped to raise them beyond their sorrows. She had none of her own.

Unfortunately the woes of close friends did not end at the borders of her pack. Nayati spoke of his home and of the destruction that had come to be and Anu look on with a sad face. Why? She wondered often. Why did such things need to happen, to those with such kind hearts? But the elder knew not to ask it too often or too much. It would never be answered, and time was only wasted while asking such questions. I'm saddened to hear this. She spoke truthfully. The Aniwayans had always been kind to them, she had only hoped for their well being. I can send my sons, to help when you hope to begin your rebuild. Alder at the very least would do as she requested, even a pack land away. Oak and Cypress would do as she wished too. Perhaps it would be good for them to learn the craftsmanship of the tribe, Crimson Dreams could not teach them everything.

And your family? She asked, hoping that personally he fared better.

The strife that AniWaya had suffered was nothing compared to the things that some of Anu's packmates had endured. Their losses were mostly material in nature and such things could be rebuilt and replaced. The loss of his own hut had barely phased him, for now that he was a mated man his small hut would not do. Liliana and he had lived in it comfortably, before it was destroyed, but such a small dwelling would not do once they had a family of their own. Once the snows melted, he would search someone out to help him build a good, large, sturdy hut that would house his family. Perhaps Anu's sons would be those souls. "It was difficult, but not anything that cannot be overcome. Any help we can get would be most welcomed, I am sure. We have few builders, and I am not among their ranks." For as good as he was with a bow, he was not skilled when it came to constructing anything larger than tools of the hunt.

"My family mostly resides back in the Great Tribe, so I do not know for sure how they fare; I do hope that they are well. However," he said, a grin painting his strong features, "I have taken a mate since last we saw one another." Nayati may have missed his family dearly, but now he had Liliana and that ache did not seem so strong any longer. "She is well. Her name is Liliana. I hope you will be able to meet her sometime soon." He was certain his mate would find Anu's company just as refreshing as he did.

Perhaps she wished to leave winter behind and forget. She had learned many lessons, and one was that forgotten and moving past the pain would set her free. She could only hope that the pack would be able to move as she hoped to do. But Anu focused on the status of the tribe, and the pale wolf spoke with an even tone, not a low or saddened one. They would recover.

They maybe be able to haul things for you, they don't know what their specialties are yet. Neither had chosen their paths, but Anu hoped that they would go and help in anyway they could. Anu had lived without houses when she grew up, the elements always touching her pack. But now she could hardly imagine a night without a roof over her head. She felt too old to be without it's cover.

When he spoke of his family Anu listened with interest. it was a part of his life they had not shared and she had wondered some time ago what his family was like. He smiled, and she was glad to have touched upon a happy aspect of his life. A happy one indeed. Congratulations! Anu spoke, her tone brightening as he did. I will have to come to AniWaya and call for her. Anu was indeed curious to meet the woman that had stolen Nayati's honorable heart. It was something to be celebrated, and she smiled a toothy grin.

No children yet? She asked, curiosity welling inside and her tail waving behind her.

AniWayans had suffered worse than lost huts, at least though that had originally belonged to the Great Tribe. Much of that strife, at least the very worst of it, had been before Nayati's time but the tribe had suffered during his life as well, plagued by sicknesses. They had only lost one life in the blizzard and considering the circumstances they were lucky for that. In the grand scheme of themes losing one soul was far better than having a sickness take countless lives. "Well, perhaps they will find them while helping," he said with a smile. "That reminds me! I actually met your son Alder not long ago. He came offering goodwill from his new home." He had her eyes, though he had not been able to make that association until the youth had spoken of it aloud.

The first time they had met they had not talked much of their own personal lives and it was nice that they now had a chance to get to know each other on a deeper level. He had been unaware she was a mother until her son had showed up on the tribe's borders, though he had not been terribly surprised at that revelation. Nayati's tail wagged briefly as they talked of his mate. He could not lie that she was his greatest pride, held even higher than his appointment as a Master Hunter. "I thank you. Though a visit might have to wait for some time later as we are soon to depart for a visit back to the Great Tribe to see my family and have a council with the Chief there." It was a trip of both pleasure and business.

The Utina could not help but blush lightly under his pale coat at the question of children. "None yet, though I hope we will be blessed soon." He dearly desired to be a father, more than any other thing in the world.

The mother had high hopes and expectations for her sons, and though they might not have settled into a trade or responsibility they were still growing and still young. There was plenty of time for them, and she watched over Oak and Cypress from a distance to make sure they they did not stray from a honest lifestyle. She did not preach to them of gods and prayers, she only reminded them to be truthful and hardworking.

Nayati spoke truth, perhaps she could send them to the tribe and they would get exposure to more then what Crimson Dreams could give. Alder had done so in Cour des Miracles. Then the pale hunter spoke of her masked boy, and she smiled wide. There were moment when she had regretted her choice, worried that it was wrong to send him away. But Nayati's words soothed her mothering instinct. He was growing, becoming confident and seeking out alliances. Anu beamed with pride, her voiceless son was now more then she could have ever hoped. It pleases me to hear this, I assume he was polite and humble. He always was as a pup. Oak and Cypress were her pride and joy, but Alder was her heart. Love between them held an equal strength but each were different.

Is the Great Tribe much larger then AniWaya? I know nothing the tribe's origin. What a great honor to be chosen to sit on the council. He was a high ranking wolf among the other tribes-wolves but she hadn't know that he would be sent on such a journey. Her tail waved with curiosity.

The old woman nodded her head, yes indeed the male would be blessed. What creature of his honesty would be denied the pleasure of being a father? Anu was a modest wolf, never claiming to have much sight into the future. But she was hopeful, and that was enough to make her certain that he would have what he so wished for. It truly is a blessing. I have faith that you will make a great father and your Liliana a caring mother.
