Alae could almost taste the essence of Summer. The salty smell of the coast was rich in the air, and that alone was enough for her to reminisce of her earlier childhood spent during the Summer months back in her country, the lilting motherlands of Ireland and Scotland. She didn't realize how close herself and Kael journeyed to the shoreline, as she stopped to pause to gaze out at the glittering horizon of the ocean. Kael continued to soar ahead, becoming but a silhouette in the blazing twilight sky of the approaching evening. Alae offered the benefit of the doubt for her feathered companion to guide the way on their journey into the unknown; something she didn't normally allow. Becoming familiar with birds, they tended to glide at their own course, to dance along the breeze, or explore for the sake of exploring. This time, however, Alae threw her caution to the wind (and a pleasant sea wind at that) and let Kael unravel the next horizon for them. The two of them were the best of rogues, the owl and the wolf, despite how different they were in species and temperament.

Among the allure of the sea breeze was also a scent intertwined as pure wolf. A high volume of wolf, which could only plausibly point to the means of pack territory. Her senses were just as keen as her Lupus form when sniffing out distinctive scents, and a pack territory aroma was fairly distinct in itself. The marked scents were almost nostalgic of several reveries, for it had been many moons since Alae encountered any official territory means of any pack. As much as it was pungent in markings, it was oddly welcoming in the same. The life of a rogue was either permanent or temporary, and Alae fit the bill as far as temporary went. Her solitude was cherished, especially in means of meditation, but only so much solitude was able to get you so far into the world. Alae was a pack creature, and thus thrived for the sense of structure, discipline, and order in her life.

The Sidhe remained in her place, unmoving. Discontinuing forth would be wise in her place, while Kael held the freedom to soar as far over and into the territory as he pleased, although the snowy owl kept to circling overhead in close quarters of Alae's position on the coast. The soft and creamy sands beckoned her to collapse gracefully upon her knees to relish in the gentle terrain from a rugged travel, but she was keen to realize that even while she was dancing along territory borders, one had to hold dignity and respect about themselves. The motion was tempting, but Alae brought her focus to the beauty of the horizon before her. The ocean was forever vast, and upon its waves would her howl carry over them. Tipping her agouti muzzle to the sky, her voice sang out in a howl to the inhabitants of this seaside paradise. Impressive so far, Kael. Alae said to herself, blue eyes glancing to her feathered friend enjoying himself upon the salty breeze, as she stood in wait.

ooc;; hello and welcome (back) to 'Souls! I hope you have a wonderful time here! If you have any questions whatso ever, please feel free to PM me or Kris (Nayru). Apologies for the angsty post, DdM is in turmoil at the moment!

Conor had been gone for five days now, on the rough end of a week. Saul thought Dahlia was holding up quite well under Nayru's leadership, even if the whole pack wasnt yet aware of the change in power. He figured Nayru was likely to hold a pack meeting soon to see who was still part of their diminishing pack and to also update them on the turmoil their precious paradise had been under the past few months. Saul was doing his best- he really was. After building his own home and trying to get all the furnature he wanted in there with Siku as well, the male had turned to less selfish means of helping his pack. He was working hard to prove himself worthy of the title of medicine man and he had plans to build stables and paddocks for trading horses in. He thought of trying to better relationships with the other packs. He would have to speak to Nayru- he didnt want Dahlia to become a lonely island with no allies.

The morning had brought Saul on his usual rounds. Checking on Wretch was his first order of business, making sure she hadnt moved her mouth too much to break apart the bindings he tried to put on her. It was very difficult to think of how to heal a fractured jaw when the wolves used them for so much. He'd managed to keep her jaw still by binding it closed for a few hours every day. But she had to eat and he tried to feed her soft spoons of broth he'd made the day after she'd arrived. The broth hung on a pot over the fire and he'd added to it daily to keep it alive and nutritional. Her broken leg was bound very tightly in a splint that would keep her bone in place. He'd pushed the bone back in and fitted it back against the snap. Under no circumstances was she allowed to walk on it- he had no way of clipping the two parts together so she could walk as well. They were healing on their own and Saul had to lift her carefully to go outside to do her business. It was very good training for him all the same.

The crash of the waves seemed louder in his mind as he paused on the way to the beach. Cinnamon backed ears flashed forward as a howl broke through. He almost didnt catch it, the crashing of the waves almost masking it. Visions of his find of the little pale puppy danced across his eyes. What if there was another in trouble. Saul couldnt help but worry that there would be another lost soul on the beach, perhaps even more broken than the little puppy. In his lupus form he moved quickly and quietly along the banks of the river that sourced near his home. It lead easily out to the beach. It took him moments for green eyes to sweep the borders of the beach and find the wolf the howl had belonged to. He didnt see the swirling bird above. He moved closer, posutre remaining dominant even if his eyes and face said he was friendly. A mix of the two was always better he thought.

"You are on the borders of Dahlia de Mai. I'm Saul Stormbringer- how may I help you?"

His practised words felt a little tired on his tongue but that was to be expected. To him it felt as though it was just him and Nayru holding up this entire pack and he was getting a little tired. But there was always people to greet and try and keep in Dahlia- they often didnt stay long despite their promises. Hopefully she would stay.

500+ Thank you so much! Smile Wow, I can't believe Kris is still here in DdM after all this time (if it's the same Kris I used to RP back with in the day!) And perfect, I love anything that has to do with turmoil, distress, and delicious plotting! <3

Kael witnessed the approach of a resident in his throne from the sky long before they were able to come face to face with his two-legged companion. Coasting along a current of sea breeze momentarily, the snowy owl disappeared some ways greater into the horizon of the ocean, away from Earthly bounds. Patient in her solitude, the salty breeze was able to accompany the sudden scent of another to reach Alae's nose before her eyes would see a figure of a Lupus acknowledging her howl. Intrigue crossed over the contours of her face at this, seeing as how Lupus was considered a sacred figure to herself and of the customs of her family. Not only was Lupus sacred to The Sidhe, but the new world of the disease that gave wolves their human like skills and appearance was more of the norm now. It seemed like the Old Ways had been long forgotten, but seeing an individual such as this male (as she identified by stature and scent) adapting to Lupus and making effort to greet another in Lupus, was fascinating to Alae.

Another aspect was how young her greeter looked. From her birth pack, the greeters of outsiders were always elders who were seasoned in time with social experience. His coat was of a typical agouti fashion, his stature wore proud notwithstanding his cordial questioning of her presence here. His eyes were a sharp and lively green, something telling and all knowing within their color. It was something that certainly surpassed the young age that he was, and Alae was immediately drawn into this moment to be able to have a conversation with someone who came across as interesting on first impression. Announcing himself as Saul Stormbringer, the territory borders she was teetering upon were Dahlia de Mai. Even the name was alluring in itself, and Alae found herself fully focused on this encounter, eager to learn about this so called Dahlia de Mai before her, and even about Saul Stormbringer the Lupus that approached.

Canting her head in a greeting like sort of nod, there was a warm grin to slightly raise the corners of her leathery lips. "Dahlia de Mai, a beautiful name. What does it mean?" Alae questioned, immediately intrigued. A pause was given, Alae keeping her affable grin. "Saul Stormbringer. My name is Alae Sidhe. And this is…" Her sentence trailed off, as her light blue eyes that mirrored clear skies narrowed to the incoming flight of Kael. Timing his introduction just right, the owl flew back to his companion as Alae outstretched her right tattooed arm as a landing base for Kael. Gracefully landing upon her mid arm, Kael toddled up to her shoulder where he would be perched, wide yellow eyes gleaming at Saul silently amid her peppered locks and braids. "… This is Kael. He would be the reason why we are here, believe it or not." Alae replied with a lilt of amusement in her voice. How would an owl be able to navigate them both to Dahlia de Mai, with reason to it? Well, there was a lot of mysteries and quirks about Kael that Alae didn't know. Alae never forced Kael against his will to stay with her, for he just did.

They were similar in looks it appeared and Saul couldn't help a grin spread across his lips. She appeared to be studying him in great detail, orbs moving over him and finally to stare into his own green ones. He felt a shiver race up his spine and immediately felt guilty. Siku was the only wolf who'd managed to do that so far and he felt a wave of guilt as the feeling reappeared. With a small sardonic smile, Saul thought about that feeling. He didn't understand the feeling and Conor was gone- he could no longer ask the autumn hued man. Perhaps Nayru might be of some help in explaining the breathless, racing heart syndrome he seemed to suffer with whenever Siku was around. And why had the blunt look from this stranger had a weaker albeit similar effect. Subconsciously shaking his fur, he concentrated for a moment and stood quickly on two legs. Creamy underbelly had transformed to cover the whole of his front in a snowy plume- his overcoat interspersing in small amounts around his sides and on his legs. His back would have looked much the same as his wolf body- mottled browns greys and a few streaks of black here and there. Cinnamon backed ears flashed forward and an amiable smile raced across his lips.

I'm afraid I don't... Although Dahlia is a flower so perhaps it has something to do that!

He said with a soft chuckle. Perhaps he should know what his pack name meant. But he had come across a horticultural book and had seen the name in there. She continued, repeating his name back to him. It sounded strange on her tongue and he wasn't too sure why. She gave her name as well and Saul tried to wrap his tongue around her last name. Still, her first name was easiest to remember. She spoke again, pausing. Green eyes were drawn upwards at the near silent rustle of wings. He watched in amazement and serious intigue as the owl landed on her outstretched arm, shuffling up to her shoulder. She introduced him as Kael, mentioning that he was the reason they were here. Saul cocked his head softly.

Its nice to meet you Alae and Kael. Where have you come from, before he brought you here?

He asked, running through a mental list of questions he would ask her. She was polite and nice, a little flirty perhaps. Green eyes lingered to the owl once more and a surprising streak of jealousy caught him for a brief moment.

Momentarily, the two seemingly sized each other up in passing conversation. It was more so Saul later leering right back at Alae, to which there were no motions of nervousness or shying away from Alae from his striking emerald gaze upon her. It was all a given, and Alae knew first impressions couldn't be repeated again; first impressions were just that, the first. Suddenly the gift of the disease that coursed through both of their veins brought Saul upon two paws as his shift was one of the more fluid shifts Alae witnessed in a Luperci. Still obtaining his youthful features, it was more so apparent in Optime than in Lupus by the way his ears fanned out more like radars, and how lanky he was in stature yet. Alae's grin broadened, as Saul met her upon two feet.

Saul spoke about the Dahlia, and while he wasn't one-hundred percent confident as to what Dahlia de Mai truly meant, the Dahlia originated from a flower. It was an oxymoron how Alae didn't know about the Dahlia from her medicinal studies from her grandmother, but the Dahlia was never heard of back in her mother country, and most likely didn't grow there. A thoughtful look crossed over her visage, as she raised her brows. "Ah, a flower. I'm guessing it might be abundant here?" Alae questioned, although a mild puzzling look replaced her thoughtful one as her eyes scanned their surroundings. Flowers amid a coastal scenery weren't common, unless they were in these lands? She obviously wasn't aware of the land that laid beyond this little region of it, and thought there was nothing but a creamy smear of sand and ocean for miles ahead.

Mesmerized by the sight of Kael, the snowy owl only leered back at Saul even when he addressed his kindness of their presence. Furrowing his feathers, Kael drew closer to Alae's neck. His wide gleam was mainly kept upon Saul, but his head would also swiftly snap into the direction of the ocean several times, curious of the crashing of the waves. "And it's nice to see a friendly face and company after so long. Are you the Sentry figure for Dahlia, as young as you are Saul?" Alae said, her grin broadening. Her words weren't taunting of his age, but it was just so uncommon to her to see a young Luperci be the one to monitor the borders of a pack. "We've come from Ireland, a small isle many, many miles across the ocean." Her voice held a tone of endearment for her true home across the sea, perhaps laced with an insignificant lilt of ache.

The female in front of him could see his obvious looking, but it didnt bother Saul. He was a pack member and she was a loner at his borders- he could look at her how he pleased. Of course, the man would never have anything less than a friendly face on him. A smile and twinkle in his eye that seemed to belong to nobody. Perhaps Siku owned part of that sparkle although the male would never admit it. He didnt even understand what was going on between the two, much less act upon it. And he was certain that Siku was as clueless as he was. Still, tail swayed softly behind him a moment as she commented on the flowers again. He had seen a few of them around although it was just coming into spring and he doubted there would be any large numbers around right now. With a casual roll of his shoulders he indicated that he wasnt sure.

"I'm not sure how it looks in summer yet- perhaps we'll have an infestation."

The male chuckled amiably. Green eyes were once again drawn to the owl as he was given what only could be described as a filthy look. The owl seemed to shuffle uneasily, moving Alae's braided hair over a little more in perhaps an attempt at hiding himself. Saul was never used to a negative reaction from anyone and was reminded of Scorpius' terrible reaction to him. Still, it was a bird and not a wolf, so maybe there was some comfort in it. Cinnamon backed ears cupped forward to catch her words again and a puzzled expression caught him. The Sentry figure? He wasnt entirely sure what that meant.

"I'm not sure what a Sentry figure is... but I don't guard the borders on my own. My alpha--" He almost said 'Conor' but choked the word back and continued with "Nayru, patrols the borders out by Flanders Field. And anyone above a certain rank may accept a new member into Dahlia de Mai. Myself for example."

He offered with a small smile. He didnt mention that he was the second highest ranking wolf in Dahlia- that would have been completely pointless and stupid. His ears perked forward again as she spoke in answer to his previous question. Ireland? He'd never heard of it. With another casual roll of his shoulders he indicated that he wasnt entirely sure where she meant. Still, there were a few more questions he needed to ask before he thought about accepting her.

"Dahlia is in a timeof turmoil and upset. We have few members and most of them seem skilless. What do you have to offer Dahlia to make us strong again?"

He asked green eyes unwavering on hers. They needed strong, skilled and active members to pick Dahlia off the ground again. Hopefully they would be able to return to their former glory.

Saul remained questionable overall about the Dahlia population here, and Alae could only nod silently in acknowledgement to this with a small grin in understanding. It made her question in the back of her mind how long Saul was a resident here, if he was born in Dahlia de Mai, or came from elsewhere. After all, Saul did possess a youthful essence about him, so Alae was quick to assume there were matters even he had yet to discover. As curious as the Sidhe was, it was too early in this encounter yet to ask of such personal questions, as much as it would linger in the back of her mind along with the Dahlia flower.

With Saul chuckling audibly, Alae's eyes also narrowed along with the Stormbringer to what she could see of Kael perched upon her shoulder. Kael remained having his wide and almost blank gleaming look, unmoving despite how the conversation briefly turned upon him. There was a wry line to stretch Alae's muzzle, as she shook her head. "Don't mind him. He always looks that way. He's a strange one. Interesting, but strange." As if Kael finally understood the gist of the conversation, his head swiftly rotated to gleam at Alae for a moment, before ruffling his feathers again in an unknown gesture to show whether he was pleased or not, and then looked away. Shaking her head again, this time looking at Saul, her sky blue eyes rolled in amusement. It was enough to dissect the Luperci species, let alone birds.

When Saul expressed his unfamiliarity with what a Sentry was, Alae inwardly scolded herself for using such terminology from back home. Old habits were hard to break, but it seemed like Saul somewhat understood what she meant. Her agouti ears shifted forward, listening as he told of his duty. Dahlia's Alpha, Nayru, was also in charge of patrolling the borders. Flanders Field was mentioned, suggesting there was more to Dahlia de Mai than this wonderful creamy smear of beach. Nodding when Saul was finished explaining, it made sense. "I see. A Sentry figure from where I come has similar duties like yourself and Nayru. Our 'guardians' are much older, though. The elders back home would consider you impressive with your duty here." Alae noted, and wished somehow there was a way to show her pack in Ireland this. They would without a doubt be highly impressed, maybe even puzzled.

It was a given when Saul shrugged about Ireland. Questions for another time and place, as the shift of the conversation suddenly adapted to that air of a business-like situation. Alae paid close attention when Saul noted the turmoil and anguish Dahlia was experiencing, especially how the member count wasn't abundant as the territory looked. Skill-less, and on the edge of uncertainty. This made Alae want to second think Kael's judgement of bring them here, if it was wise for the both of them to take consideration of making these individuals their allies if there was nothing to work with. Then again, for something that seemed it could go wrong in many ways, it was also an opportunity to prove oneself's worth. And it was never in Alae's nature to not turn down an opportunity for experience.

"I have fairly competent medical and anatomy knowledge, given it might take me awhile to study and collect the plants that thrive in this part of the world, but I do have skill in both natural and holistic healing." If the Dahlia flower was unfamiliar to Alae, there could be many more plants out there that were as well, but it would only be an opportunity for her to broaden her horizons about them. "Holistic healing is more for the spirit and soul. Meditation, Baptiste yoga, is what I possess the most skill of. It might not be the fighting techniques or weaponry you may looking for in your turmoil, but it does give benefit to cleanse the mind, heart, body, and soul." As Saul didn't immediately go into the details of what Dahlia de Mai's "turmoil" was, hopefully he would be able to shed light upon it. A turmoil could mean anything to Alae: war, poverty, sickness, or scarce resources of prey.
