Finally… tu du!

WotD +1 (metier) 500+

The day was slow as Jaden shuffled along, paws falling heavily. Nothing seemed to be worth his attention today. Birds flew busily from tree to tree and possible prey animals scurried around in the underbrush, but he paid no attention. His mind was lost in itself. After failing at his attempt to assassinate the Alpha of Cour des Miracles, his life seemed to boil down into practically nothing, all because of a hesitation. Because he couldn’t kill an innocent man. What a metier assassin he was. Jaden made a discussed sound and shook his head remembering it. I’m getting soft. He thought.

In all reality, he was much softer then his younger self. In his former pack with his former friends, he would have never spared the life of a wolf just because they were “innocent”. Doing so would have made him look weak. Mercy was not a common trait among his pack mates. They killed to keep power they deserved. That is what made them strong

But, maybe Jaden being different was a good thing. They had tried to kill him after all. Why would he still aspire to conform to their horridly bloodthirsty beliefs? Realizing this made the black and red furred optime feel better about himself. It was only habit that seemed to taint his mind with violent ideals. He WAS different now. He had his own life. However depressing loneliness seemed, it had to be better than fitting into a group of murderers.

Freedom not being a new realization for Jaden, he was plagued with more questions about his future. Where should he go? No places were familiar and nearly no one recognized him so nowhere seemed more suitable for life than anywhere else. Then, once he found a home, what would he do with the rest of his life? He was still young. For the past few days, Jaden had spent his time making arrows for his bow and now had a full quiver of almost fifteen deadly weapons, and that wasn’t counting the dagger on his shoulder strap or the blades in his satchel. But he surely couldn’t just wander about making arrows for the rest of his life! Freedom suddenly seemed like an incredibly daunting achievement.

Deciding that everything started with small steps, the Alaskan was now headed toward Halifax to gather supplies and anything else useful. Anything he could carry would help for trading or treating injuries he had from his latest fight scuffles. The man’s body was sore from bruises and he had a fresh bite wound on his shoulder. The bite was unbandaged even though he had the supplies already. The idea of wearing more bandages nearly turned Jaden’s stomach. A long cut on the left side of his chest had just healed into a vivid scare, only slightly hidden by fur which was still growing back in the area. It felt so nice to be free of the white gauze, putting more on seemed like a terrible movement. The man made a mental note to avoid any more conflict in the near future, if possible, as he walked through the dark forest. No more need for bandages seemed like a good enough reason.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

Sorry for the delay, got caught up in things WC: 533

The smell of another wolf crossed Ty's nose so quickly it made him jump in surprise. He had not expected to cross another wolf out here in the middle of nowhere, and now that he did he felt rather uncomfortable about encountering another wolf. He had come out here to the neutral territories to avoid encountering another wolf actually, to try and give himself some private time to relax and think clearly without interference. His half-tail was now stiff in surprise as the brute began to track the other wolf's scent to find out their location. This was not a scent he recognized by any means, neither friendly or hostile, but the scrappy warrior could only assume the worst. A neutral wolf who did not have a pack usually would mean a scavenger, a runaway, being by oneself did not mean they came across big meals often, so some would even eat other wolves just to get by. However, those were almost definitely rare cases, though many neutral wolves were feral by nature due to their lack of social experience with a pack.

He did not make any attempt to hide himself when following the scent of the other wolf, nor did he think he had to. If he could smell the other wolf, chances are the other wolf could smell him to, so there was no pointing hiding. Still, Ty did want to get a good look at the wolf he was going to meet. Pulling himself out into a clearing onto the beaten path he came face to face with a surprisingly calm looking male wolf. The man was wounded in a few places, scarred, battered, and carrying a lot of weaponry, but otherwise calm looking. Ty's body tensed up when he found himself face-to-face, and not a word was said for a long time. He hadn't really thought up to the confrontation, and now that he was facing the wolf he didn't know if he should talk first or expect a fight, he never could.

But he figured he had to try and be civil, hoping that despite the scars this wolf was at least friendly to people he hadn't met. "Uhhh....hi there." The brute raised a hand in greeting as he spoke, hoping his body language and laid-back manner of speaking made it clear he was not hostile. He began to circle the other wolf in a calm, curious manner, his half-tail swaying in a casual pendulum, as he eyed the other wolf up and down. The other wolf was most certainly a warrior, the weaponry he carried looked worn and beaten, but well-kept. The scars were place in such a way on his body that Ty could tell they were from battle, not abuse. The half-tailed ruffian gave a smirk of acknowledgement a fellow warrior could as he took note that a few of the scars the other wolf was carrying were fresh, he could still smell the blood coming from them. Apparently this wolf had seen some action recently, piquing his curiosity about this man's motives. He found himself trying to make small-talk with the wolf, as one traveler to another. "Nice night for a stroll, isn't it?"

Jaden’s mind had gotten lost in trivial thoughts as he walked along. He kept trying to remember anything he could about the layout of Halifax so as not to get lost again. All the information he had gained while on his last quest to the city was lost now. Jaden grimaced, he would just have to get lost again it seemed.

An unfamiliar scent seeped into Jaden’s nose from somewhere nearby. Not too long ago, the stranger’s sent would have called for a reaction of panic from the assassin as most people sneaking around would mean him harm. But, since arriving in this territory, Jaden had not come across a single person who hunted for trouble. There was no reason for now to be any different.

When a wolf appeared out of the forest, Jaden stopped. The dusty orange colored Optime stood and looked at him. Jaden looked back. He was in no mood to be unconditionally friendly at the moment and hoped this stranger would just leave. But he didn’t. He stood there for a time and seemed to be unable or not willing to say anything. When he did, the other male pushed confidently out of the foliage and toward the small clearing Jaden found himself in now. “Hello,” Jaden said plainly. The orange hued stranger began to circle him slowly, seeming to look Jaden up and down. His securitizing look was not followed and Jaden stood still, waiting for the man to state his business. With a relaxed movement, he rested his hand on the dagger by his hip.

“The day is pleasant.” Small talk made Jaden a little bit suspicious of the stranger. He didn’t have to analyze this character long to see he had a past full of hardship. Battle scars littered his body from bits of his ear missing and old scratches and bites, to a section of his tail gone. “What is it you want, Stranger?” Jaden breathed with a little impatience in his words.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

"What? I can't greet a fellow traveler?" Ty retorted, the hurried words of the other wolf catching him off guard. Obviously he had not intended to find another wolf out here in the middle of nowhere either, and the appearance of Ty had been a surprise for him. The wolf's hand to his dagger said a whole other thing about him entirely though, the words were not just rushed, they were presumably on edge. Perhaps Ty's first assumptions about the wolf were not as accurate as he thought, perhaps the other wolf was hostile. He certainly did not seem to be in the mood for talking and judging by his body language was already sizing Ty up to see if he could take him. Perhaps this chance meeting would be more than either of them were bargaining for.

Most other wolves would see Jaden as trouble, the armaments he carried were not simple hunting tools. Smart wolves would end the conversation at that and keep moving, but not Ty, not today. Something told Ty to stay and talk, something told him to keep the conversation flowing, ask a few more questions. What it was, Ty could not say, perhaps it was his swashbuckling attitude, maybe his thirst to cause trouble, or maybe he just did not like the way the other wolf was acting, but he kept the tense conversation going.

"Those are some interesting tools you got there." He mused, still circling Jaden with the same polite smile on his face. "I haven't seen weapons like that since my trip to Mexico, hell, maybe since my time in Europe." Ty's tail twitched slightly as he placed his feet carefully, never putting himself off balance. "And that mark on your shoulder...that's fresh isn't it? Looks like a wolf bite..." Ty didn't know for sure, and was probably be wrong, but maybe that would get under Jaden's skin if he was correct. "What exactly have you been doing out here, mister?"

Jaden listened calmly while this stranger spoke. Greet a stranger? Jaden wondered to himself. This Optime had given no reason to talk to him, and despite Jaden’s blatant clue he was not in the mood to babble about nothing, he continued to speak. The trained assassin was becoming wearier of this male with every well placed, circling step he took. “If it is just a greeting you were after then why do you continue to speak?”

The statements and questions he asked next aggravated Jaden for more than one reason, but they also told more about this stranger. Europe was fairly well known to the Alaskan because it was where the alloys his weapons were composed of originated. Uva Atka, his former pack, would trade Alaskan slaves for metal to Russian sailors. Most of their blade making and even fighting techniques were molded from that of European styles. Ty was well traveled and experienced and now Jaden knew that much. He was also beginning to seem very confidant and bordering arrogance. All pointed to him being quite the formidable foe, not to mention his mere size in comparison to the assassin. Jaden was built for speed and stealth while it looked like his adversary could lift twice his body weight.
It’s coyote.” Jaden said simply. “There seems to be quite a few of them with oversized heads around here.” The last one he met was female and had been injured. Because she was injured, Jaden had turned his back on her. She had repaid that stupid move with the nice bite Ty referred to now. His realizing and speaking of it reminded Jaden of his error and didn’t do any good to improve his hostile state of mind. “I’m enjoying the quiet nature offers. My ‘tools’ and my business other than that are not your concern stranger,” Jaden spat. “And you’d do yourself well to keep it that way.” When Jaden’s business was to assonate the leader of a local pack, people asking too many questions usually ended up being trouble. He kept his hand on his dagger and watched the other wolf carefully.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

"Well that seems obvious." Ty responded to Jaden's first question with a friendly if not tense smirk and a gesture towards the traveler's gear. "You're obviously a wolf with some impressive skill in your arsenal." He remarked as he continued to circle, keeping just out of striking distance just for safety's sake. "I can't help but be curious. It's not often I come across someone who looks like you do, especially not out here in the middle of nowhere."

He listened politely to Jaden's explanation to the fresh wounds on his body, about his recent scuffle with a coyote. Ty could only respond with a humble smile and nod as he crossed his arms. "Ah...coyotes," He remarked with a chuckle. "They aren't a friendly bunch around here, no sir. Many of them hate wolves with a passion I've never seen anywhere else. You aren't the only one to get a taste of their fangs." He pointed to a rather fresh looking scar on his own person. A fine row of cut marks decorated his left abdomen, they looked like they weren't that detrimental to his well-being, but nevertheless stung like hell when they were inflicted. "Didn't look where I was going and ended up in Inferni territory, I was lucky to leave there with just a scratch."

Ty would have talked more, but Jaden explained with a clearly bothered tone in his voice that he wanted to be alone. It was obvious that Jaden's patience was wearing thin with Ty's questions and curiosities, and if Ty kept it up he might get a sting of the dagger that Jaden's hand was so dangerously close to. The tension in the air was rising more and more with each passing second the two of them talked. The warning words Jaden sent Ty's way sent a chill up the half-tailed brute's spine, he barely knew a thing about Jaden but there wasn't a shadow of a doubt now that this wolf was most likely a dangerous person. But that only piqued Ty's curiosity, how dangerous exactly was this wolf. When Jaden so kindly advised him to step aside and let him pass, Ty responded with a comment he was even surprised he said. "Is that a threat?" He asked the wolf, now lowering his form in case Jaden threw a surprise strike his way. "I'm not one to take threats kindly, mister."

Lucky. Jaden thought in response to Ty’s Coyote remark, but said nothing. He felt that unless this stranger met more than two or three coyotes, they wouldn’t be much of a match against his breadth. It was obvious Ty could break a coyote in half if he wanted to. The tone he took when speaking of them was humble and that bugged Jaden. They were the lucky ones. Just the fact that they had land near so many competent wolf packs was a miracle for them. Ty should have had disgust in his voice when admitting the coyote’s had attacked him.

The only thing that kept Jaden from holding his humility against the other male was the kind words and compliment he gave the former assassin. Those brought him just about to where he had been in the first place, he was a stranger with unknown motives and too many questions. Jaden wasn’t quick to trust most wolves, especially males when it came down to character. He was an assassin and had grown up surrounded by assassins and killers. Unless someone showed they meant you no harm beyond a reasonable doubt, they were not to be trusted. A pleasant guise meant nothing.

The orange hued stranger then made a comment that played over in Jaden’s mind as, “Don’t threaten me unless you are going to do something about it.” Yes, Jaden had threatened him as a warning and a hint to beat it. Instead, Ty continued to circle the Assassin irritatingly. When Ty’s body language dropped as if preparing to attack, Jaden instinctually did the same a threatening growl ripped past his suddenly bared teeth. “Then take it as a warning, friend, that you should leave now before you get yourself hurt.” Jaden tossed his satchel away and began to follow Ty’s movements, creating a slow circle as the two watched each other. The leather back pack landed with a metal clank as the moon blades within bumped each other. The dark optime wished he had drawn them at the first sight of other. Using his thumb, he popped the dagger from its sheath so he could draw it without resistance if he needed to. “You ask too many questions and I’m done answering them. State you business now or BE GONE.”

The air almost froze as the two wolves dropped into stances, as if everything in the forest suddenly silenced themselves at the threat of violence. They way Ty and Jaden faced each other now made it very clear, one wrong move and the two would explode in a dance of claws and fangs. Ty's fiery gaze broke eye contact for only a second to acknowledge that Jaden was preparing his knife, fanning the flames of their newfound hostilities. However, instead of an annoyed expression as he usually had during unexpected confrontations like this, Ty's teeth were curled back into a grin with a subtle fiery glint in his eye. He couldn't put his finger on it, but the though of fighting this character excited him somewhat, as if he was going to spar with Pendzez or something. The danger of the knife had set in, Ty had a chance to die in a fight like this, but why that was not bothering him today seemed irrelevant.

Jaden still attempted to mimic polite pleasantries by giving Ty another warning, urging him to leave this situation. Instead of the desired effect however, Ty simply chuckled calmly and did not budge, as if to simply spite the warning. The only hint of Ty's intensity was his eye, which were fixed on Jaden as if he were the only other creature in existance. The focused glare was unlikely to intimidate an opponent like Jaden, but clearly showed that Ty was not going to back down even if he wanted to. It was a matter of principal now, he could not just back off and let Jaden pass, it did not seem right to him. Right now, it was either going to go two ways, either Jaden and Ty were going to throw down, or Jaden would back off and apologize for his threats, and Ty did not expect Jaden to apologize, nor did he want him to. Jaden had every right to be suspicious of Ty, that did not mean Ty could simply explain it away, he simply did not want to.

"My business?" Ty repeated the question, his eyes never leaving Jaden's as he spoke. "Honestly, I came out here to clear my head because I have had a rather rough couple of weeks. I thought that maybe I could get a load off my mind if I was all alone for a bit with some solitude." His hand clenched into a fist as he spoke through his still surprisingly calm grin. "Then I found you and decided maybe I could have a friendly conversation with another wolf. That's the whole truth." He then pointed at Jaden. "But I don't think you believe me, you think I'm here for another reason, which involves you." He cracked one of the joints in his neck as he spoke. "Chances are you already have me pegged out and already expect what I am going to do, so if you're going to do something about it, you better do it now."

Words-400+

The tension between Jaden and Ty was tangible. Nature watched in silent awe as the two stared each other down. Now was the deciding moment in the wolves’ confrontation. What Ty did next would either suppress or provoke an attack from the assassin across from him. Jaden watched intently with a calculating gaze, looking for body language to go with what Ty began to say.

Before now, the Alaskan wasn’t sure of Ty’s true intentions. What the man said didn’t reassure him in the least. Jaden didn’t care how Ty’s week had been, and at this point he didn’t know whether to believe him when he said he had only hoped for a conversation. What truly spoke to Jaden was Ty’s grin. That calm grin and those calm words it spat. Never had anyone taken a threat from Jaden in a like way. Most would either get angry and challenge him, or get serious and leave. Not this. Ty said he knew Jaden didn’t trust him. He knew he was aggravating him. After being threatened and told to leave he stayed. It all drew to the same conclusion. Ty wanted to fight. His words didn’t deny it either. He looked Jaden straight in the eye and his message was clear. Bring it on.

“So be it.” Jaden breathed. He was not one to make empty threats. In the next moment the irritated assassin attacked. With all the agility he could muster, he crossed the distance between him and Ty and drew his dagger with his left hand in an upward slice. Because the dagger was sheathed on his left hip, it was now in perfect position for a second attack, a downward stab. But Jaden had no intention to kill this other man. Not yet anyways, so he spun the dagger in his palm so it would come down for another slice. These first moves were a test. Jaden was right handed. If he had intended on ending the fight in one blow, he would have stricken in a much different way and used his more dominant hand. He was testing Ty to see how quick he was and how well he could combat with only his bare claws. Jaden was well experienced in defensive hand to hand combat. If the other attempted to twist the dagger free of his grasp, he still had his dominate hand to dismiss a grappling attack or block an incoming punch. The assassin had instigated a fight and he intended to know how matched he was against his opponent.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

Fighting posts are hard to make very long! WC: 359

Once Jaden's hand gripped around the knife, there was no turning back. It was clear the assassin was not going to take Ty's shenanigans anymore, and the fight was on. Both wolves suddenly burst into motion, Jaden delivering the first strike and Ty only having milliseconds to react. Adrenaline shot through Ty's body as shifted his body weight to avoid the first knife strike, almost being able to hear the whistle of the knife as it sung by his ear. However, that one strike would not be the last, as Jaden followed it up with what began as a downward stab, an otherwise fatal strike, but switching grips to a slashing motion in a less lethal attack. If Ty had enough time to think about this, he would have assumed that the wolf was simply not trying very hard. However, there was little to no time to analyze the attack, so as Jaden's strike began Ty stepped inside of the strike and caught the arm with his own, blocking the attack.

Now the two were definitely within striking distance of one another, but Jaden's hand was kept in a defensive position, not providing much in openings for Ty's strikes. However striking Jaden was not the biggest priority, what was most important for Ty now would be to get rid of the knife, Jaden having that edge would mean Ty would be fighting an uphill battle. Instead, Ty had to distract Jaden long enough to get the knife away from him. As he came inside, he made a distracting knee strike to Jaden's stomach. The attack was quick, but Ty' intent was not to damage Jaden with the blow, but to distract his open hand or at least get Jaden to keel over for only a second. Once his foot came back down Ty pulled Jaden's arm over his head in a twist as he stepped underneath it and behind his adversary, bringing Jaden's arm with him in an armbar. Ty quickly assumed that Jaden would without a doubt reversal out of this, but hopefully the pain would be so suddenly jolting that Jaden would at least drop the weapon.

YES! But no worries. A fight is entertaining even if we get it in only a few words, right? Words-300+

Ty was quick. This realization was not a surprise but it was an inconvenience. Jaden’s slashes both met thin air and not fur as they were meant to. Ty drove a knee quickly toward his midsection, which Jaden anticipated and blocked with his free forearm, but the unexpected came when Ty fluidly began to snap Jaden into a standing arm bar. As his opponent brought Jaden’s arm over his head, the assassin stepped briskly toward him. The movement caused Jaden some discomfort to his half wrenched arm and he dropped his dagger but it wasn’t needed anymore. The blade would do no good if Jaden was set into an arm bar this early in the fight. His movement had been to throw Ty off balance long enough for Jaden to get close. He needed to regain control of the fight’s energy. This would now be a hand to hand fight unless the assassin could break for his weapon, so the lessons he learned about defensive fighting warmed within him and prepared for use.

The fighting style Jaden knew had long ago lost its human created name, but still held all the traditional values. It was about controlling and redirecting your opponent’s energy. This was especially important with Ty because of his size advantage over Jaden. With a bend of his elbow, he got close enough to Ty to attack and try to completely free the rest of his arm. Ty still held his arm behind him so Jaden stepped back and quickly though his shoulder toward Ty’s face and his free elbow into his ribs. If that would loosen the orange hued grip, the Assassin then planned on spinning his arm and body so he faced Ty. Once they were face to face, he would though a firm punch or two toward the other’s belly and pull back before he was grappled again and wait for a counter attack. When it came Jaden would be ready; stance set and arms guarding in his core. He would watch for a strike and take its power. Ty would likely be the victim of a painful flip or hold if he was frazzled enough to attack when Jaden stepped away.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

Man, I am so sorry, I do not know where the time went! but controlling and redirecting energy...that wouldn't happen to be Aikido that Jaden knows, is it? WC: 368

Ty was lucky that the shooting pain Jaden had felt caused enough pain to drop the knife, the wicked tool falling to the ground and out of Jaden's reach. However, Ty had not caused enough distraction to Jaden, and before he could lock the armbar in Jaden was on him like a magnet, turning quickly to prevent the arm from sliding behind his back. Without missing a beat Ty winces as the shoulder bashed into his jaw, and he immediately had to let go of the arm, reeling back only to take an elbow to his gut. Obviously Jaden was well aware of locks and bars, or he would not have reacted so quickly.

Ty did not have enough time to ponder it however, as Jaden was intending to continue the onslaught. A punch was now coming his way, and with only a split second to react it was only muscle memory that allowed Ty to successfully brush it aside and abruptly step forward past Jaden's strike and drive his skull right into Jaden's. Ty easily could have translated this into a bite attack, going for the throat, but Ty was not here to kill a wolf, that would be too far. Ty simply had a knack for ruffling feathers and getting into some harmless brawls, he had not wanted to kill another wolf since he left Mexico.

Ty had learned to strike first, and strike hard by those he learned combat from. His style, while similarly derived from a human style, was not one of energy, but one of the cold realization that no matter what one could be doing, they might be attacked. Because of this, one must be quick on their reflexes, and realize that all of their body can be a weapon, and to make sure every strike and counter-attack counts in bringing down the opponent. Not a movement wasted, not a beat skipped, and that is exactly what Ty intended to to when he brought his skull into Jaden, and he would continue on that pattern if the headbutt connected by hooking Jaden's foot with his own and sending a forearm crashing into Jaden's chest, essentially intending to send him to the ground.
