The pain was what lingered even though the fear has subsided a bit. It had been several days since her encounter and she had spent almost every waking moment curled up on teddy’s bed trying to get herself over the mental stress of not being able to find a position to sit without her ribs sending her into breathing fits. She was ragged, the blood had been cleaned from her side, and she had been patched up, not to her standards but she’s the only one here who could patch her up and she couldn’t do it herself. So she had to rely on giving instructions to someone unskilled in medicine. For as talented as her man was with a blade he wasn’t that great when it came to the fine details of using a needle, or cleaning a wound. She guessed as she rubbed her side that it was indeed infected, the bears claws where no doubt dirty.

Demi swiveled from the bed groaning in disgust as her ribs screamed out from the act. Today she wanted to move, lying in bed all day had proved to be boring, at least she could be out and about in pain. The injuries to her where more than just physical, it was the first time she had been put in a true position of helplessness where she could talk or scare someone to get herself out of it. There was no reasoning with a bear, no logic bomb she could drop to make the decision to attack and attempt to kill her seem irrelevant. She was still extremely frightened to even leave the cave system. Fear had a grip on her, and she even felt herself becoming clingy to her dark knight. Things she never would have allowed herself to do otherwise. Today he had left to take care of pack business she assumed, and she couldn’t bare it even if she tried to tell herself that it didn’t. Along the goddesses body where cuts and bruises hidden beneath the fur, as she stood the pain of the act was written clearly across her face.

Her steps where short, her breathe coming in painful bursts but the determined woman had something in mind to help ease the pain. She had her stash of mushrooms back in her old room, back where she treated people. If she could get there, she’d eat several and hope that the effects would help the pain. Otherwise she had nothing to ease it, the methods humans used where log lost to her, even if she understood what they were. This meant she’d have to expedite her opium plans, the plants should grow well with good sunlight and the effects would easily help lesson pain along with the other wonderful effects she had heard of. But her form stopped only a few feet from Teddy’s room, slouched against a wall, panting with tongue rolled out in a totally unappealing and weak fashion. Oh she’d have to make up for this with treachery truly diabolical to make sure her image remained intact to everyone except a select few.

Since the death of Selene, he’d been avoiding the white female’s relations; not wanting to think about her, not wanting to be reminded of what he had lost. It did not help that his mood swings were worse than ever now because of his loss; at times he was perfectly fine and at others he was like a living zombie.

Unfortunately for the young Dasa, luck continued to evade him. Earlier that day he had encountered Ouija, one of Selene’s children. Surprisingly though, he had made it through the encounter; he had maintained the façade of being okay and kept the smile upon his face.

As he stalked through the dark tunnels, the sound of movement reached his ears. Ignoring it; assuming it was just a pack member moving around, going about their own business and so he continued down the tunnel.

A few moments passed and then he was no longer alone; up ahead he caught sight of Demi slouched by another’s room. His initial response was to walk past the Corson; his relationship with the female was not great and she was Selene’s daughter, thus he did not want to be interacting with her at all If possible. But, something was clearly wrong with he and because she was Selene’s daughter he couldn’t leave her alone.

Sighing, he walked up to the female and took in the sight of her; compared to the memory and impression he had of her, she looked so weak, as if she was about to pass out. “Geez, what the bloody hell ‘appened to you?” he asked, not sure whether to help her up or what. Unlike his encounter with Ouija, he didn’t maintain the façade of being aright; he doubted he’d be able to fool her even if he tried, and if he did, she’d probably be annoyed at him for seeming ok after Selene’s death.

He couldn’t win with the girl.

Foot falls hit her ears softly, as she slumped against the wall breathing heavily. Her ribs ached, the searing pain making her curl an arm around her side. Tears threatened to stream down her face and she was already regretting moving out of teddy’s room for the day. Maybe she would have to wait for him to return so he could either carry her or go get the items she needed. The little vixen was not in any mood to handle hecklers or gawkers but was hardly able to do anything about them when she sensed one such person to arrive and gawk at her.

She heard the words and her eyes opened reflectively out to Alaki, and again it was the second time he had addressed her without properly remembering his manners. Demi was not his close personal friend, She was the Corson, and future mate to the Rakeeb, such things deserved a bit more tact when addressing her. But she couldn’t get mad; it would be to exhausting, no her eyes reflected back her distaste for his greeting, even if he was genuinely worried about her condition.

“You”she spoke between breathes “didn’t learn” again taking short quick breathes followed by quick stabbing pain in her side “last time”, obviously referencing the last time they met, the tone of her voice didn’t harbor the same ill intent as last time, like a teacher out of energy to reprimand a student.

A soft sigh passed his lips. Trust Demi to try and lecture him in such a situation. Crossing his arms over his chest, he simply stared at her for a moment to see if she was planning to complain about his lack of manners some more or actually let him assist her. “I don’t think my manner of speaking is of much importance right now. You gonna let me help you or what?” he asked, for it was clear she was in no state to be on her feet at that moment.

Moving a few steps closer, he stopped just short of the ill looking female. “You shouldn’t be on your feet.” It was a statement more than anything else; judging from her breathing and lack of threats, something was seriously wrong with her. After their previous encounter, he knew that he should watch his words or face the wrath of the small Corson, yet despite how much trouble he knew he would probably get into for his lack of manners, he couldn’t bring himself to act differently to the small, yet terrifying woman.

Stubborn by nature he was and so he refused to change his behaviour for anyone. No matter how much the other scared him. Cocking his head to the side, he waited to see if Demi would accept his assistance or not.

Pain was all she knew and even when his unpracticed words hit her ears she knew in this case he was right. She really should have waited for teddy to come home, to have him help her, but she also didn’t want him to see her high or in a mind blown state. Her blues opened slightly to look over at Alaki, wondering how long he would mourn his mother’s death. Selene had found something in him that Demi hadn’t and that made her a bit jealous. Demi was a much better soul then her constantly depressed mother even if she loved her to death. Now though she was gone and all Demi had was Ouija and Naniko to rely on other than her Teddy.

Finally she relented and her stubbornness washed away in a few short seconds, a tear fell down her cheek, she did need the help, and he was offering. “Okay Alaki” she said as she leaned against the wall. She was slowly regaining enough strength to talk and her breathing had become more normal as she found a more comfortable position. ”I need help to get to my room then back here.” She smiled a bit before continuing “Teddy’s bed is more comfortable” was the only reasoning she gave. But if he was as smart as she figured he might be then it wouldn’t take much for him to know why. She wouldn’t tell him out right because after all until they were mates, it was really none of the packs business.

Despite the female’s seemingly endless pride, the Corson finally asked for assistance and that was all he needed to hear. In response to her words he dipped his head in a slight nod and moved to support Demi so that he could assist her in reaching her room. When the other spoke of some ‘Teddy’ it took him a moment to place all the pieces. Before he could stop himself, a sigh escaped his lips; really, you cannot resist throwing ranks and satus into my face now can you? No matter how injured she was, Demi seemed to stay true to form.

Yet, to her not so subtle hint, he raised an eyebrow in a silent ‘your point is?’, then decided in this case he would elaborate and voice his thoughts to the prideful one. “If it’s more comfortable, you should have waited for him to assist you” it was a low blow, but he was making sure to point out that she’d made a mistake in leaving and that he was helping her.

Aside from his initial response, another emotion wriggled in. He was not impressed with Theodore, not in the slightest. Despite his and Demi’s differences and lack of ability to actually get along, she was Selene’s daughter and it ticked him off royally to see that Theodore had left Demi alone and helpless when she was clearly injured. But this time he choose to keep his opinions to himself, for it was one thing arguing and pushing his luck with Demi and a completely other matter picking a fight with the Rakeeb.

He liked living and had no intention of moving nor dying anytime soon… Yet, he may have to pop by Naniko and get her opinion on the matter. Naniko knew of he and Selene and would … probably… understand why he felt the need to interfere and keep an eye on the female. Even if they themselves were not close in anyway aside from age, it was the least he could do for the now deceased white female.

Without approval from the other, he carefully lifted one of her arms over his shoulder and wrapped a hand around her waist; being careful to mind her injuries and began to lead the way to Demi’s room.

Demi ignored him for the most part. He didn’t understand a single damn thing I her opinion but she was at least trying to be nice. It never really mattered though, as soon as she could be rid of this person the better in her mind. She thought of responding to his simple remark but didn’t care to in the end honor it.
Finally she was delivered to her room; she quickly squirmed wanting out of his arms for the moment, so she could rummage through her stashed items for what she needed. The items where in the back of the room and once her form was free she walked to the back silently. Her hands stuffed a bag full of mushrooms and other varies items she required that she didn’t want Teddy to see. She remembered the first time Ouija had seen her take them and she didn’t want Teddy to somehow think her an addict. Which in truth she was. She stood and walked another short span to grab a jar of her vision dust, along with a couple of bottles of wine. The bag had grown from a small satchel to a stuffed brim of a pack, but this was what she needed.

“I do not need everyone knowing my secrets least of all you, so just don’t ask” she said. Mostly she just didn’t care to explain, nor did she have the energy to. Finally she anchored herself while she pulled a long piece of bandage out of a storage container. Humans used to call it an ace bandage, stretchy and could compress, easily scavenged, she needed the big roll to wrap around her midsection to help with the healing.

“If you will carry this bag, I think I may be able to walk with your help”. Personally she didn’t want his scent all over her or teddy would start asking questions or beat Alaki into a pulp.
