for Moon Smile

Water, quite a lot of it, was pounding itself against the sand with an abundance of froth and noise and general overwhelming size. One of those crisp autumn days, the ocean rippled in shades of pastel grey and the wind that ruffled through short reddish fur was chilly, biting. Just here anyone could feel small, set against the backdrop of seemingly endless sky and ocean; but perhaps particularly a pup like Legacy, who at almost four months wasn't exactly grown and who would indeed never be large. Having wound her way through the forest of her home and finally down the inclines to the bay for the first ever time, and been suitably impressed, she found herself wondering what would happen next. It wasn't that an entire ocean wasn't enough for her, but the itch and wanderlust suddenly in her feet was surely caused by something more significant. After all, it had been only yesterday that she'd never even ventured outside of the borders before.

It was definitely colder out here, not only with reference to temperature but mentally - the loneliness, the brooding presence of the ocean was something quite different to the warm atmosphere at home. For a while she'd been sitting back, pricking quizzical ears towards the rushing waves. Funny how the sky and sea looked nearly the same. Like the clouds had been put on the ground and chopped up. Maybe her brother or sisters would come back here with her sometime? She found herself shivering slightly and rose, ready to distract herself with something or, failing that, leave.
