A lost and lonely girl

I will let you know when she switches to Amaterasu / 627 words total

Being a lone wolf was slowly taking a toll on Amy; both physically and emotionally. Her slender form had started to look even more starved for nutrition than usual. Sure she had been able to scrounge up some scraps of meat but not nearly enough to satisfy her stomach of its needs. Her black tank top and skirt felt even looser than usual against her snow white fur; and sooner or later she knew that she would have to eat. Her emotions were charged and she was nearly on the verge of tears at this point; she was a social wolf that needed to be around others. Whenever she was alone the painful memory of losing her family surfaced and she felt she was going to relieve that horrible night all over again. Wandering all around with what little supplies she had left; though she has no idea where she got them in the first place. A leather satchel of food, knife, some basic medical items and a tent were all she had to her name. All the walking had taken its effect and she figured that it was time to take a break and rest. Sadly she had no idea where she was safe.

Without a decent map and any sense of direction in her head she just kept walking day in and day out; hoping to find someone nice that would help her out. Soon she found herself in a very tree dense forest; all the trees had beautiful red and orange colored leaves. Overlooking the obvious fact that she was lost she had to admit that it was a quite lovely looking forest. The sound of fallen leaves crunching underneath her back paws. The alluring smell of leaves and sap hitting her sensitive nostrils that made her smile just a little bit. If she had to get lost she was actually glad she had gotten lost in such a lovely place as this. Her bushy tail wagged around a little as she just walked around in circles; wondering where the best part to set up camp would be. Finally she came across an old and clearly abandoned building; though she was not brave enough to even dare enter it. Instead she just settled for exploring the outside in the hopes that she would find something useful. Though only five minutes of walking around told her that she was not in luck whatsoever; she sighed and decided that this was as good a place as any to set up her tent for the night.

Not sure where the best spot was she walked a little bit past the large building; finding a little denser collection of trees. Hoping that no one would bother her she knew that this was probably the best place she was going to find. She shrugged the tent off her back and let it fall to the ground; and so begun the process of setting it up. It only took her a few minutes since she was so used to pitching it up; and in no time it was ready to sleep in. Sighing to herself she ducked down and zipped it up behind her; glad that she had some security now. She tugged off her skirt and tank top; leaving her as naked she could get as a wolf. Granted she had a coat of fur covering her up still; her body was exposed but that was the least of her worries. She curled up and closed her eyes; feeling tears starting to fall down her cheek. The pain was rushing back to her and she hoped no one was around to hear her cry; mourning the loss of her family was never a pleasant sight for anyone to witness.

Sorry in my delay in getting this up D: Sorta rambly; feel free to skip the first three paragraphs. Darkness was just walking through the forest, in Optime, when he heard her.

Explore most of the land around Halcyon Mountain? Check. Run into hostile coyote hybrids from Inferni but manage to escape with his tail? Check. Meet another dark-colored male loner? Check. Meet a crying wolfess? Er, not just yet.

Darkness had to admit, despite the adventures he had had around Halcyon Mountain, he was getting sick of the area. It wasn't so much that he didn't like the characters he had met, he just didn't like the memory he got when he looked up at the giant hills. Every time he looked up at a cliff of some sort, he had to shudder; darn they were high, and the black wolf wasn't exactly fond of heights. He remembered standing on the top of those cliffs, looking down at the wild landscape below him, and being absolutely terrified. He wanted to get away from that type of place at all costs.

The black wolf was walking through the forest on two legs now. Lately he had found himself like this in the daytime and on all fours at night; it was easier to find a nice den than a house, and being the wanderer that he was he didn't intend to settle down anytime soon and felt no need to make a house his own. He had lost his memory in one, right? Besides, while he knew that wolves were social animals at heart - heck, this couldn't be more true for himself - this was just another destination on his travels. After getting around the place he'd have to really see if it was worth staying. It was taking such a long time, though....

His thoughts - most of which he was saying to himself, mumbling incoherently - were interrupted. His ears were pricked as he caught onto a soft, somewhat muffled sound. Confused, he readjusted his satchel - as if he thought the nearly-empty thing was going to help - and slowly walked toward the noise. Bicolor eyes widened when he saw a white wolfess, curled up near a tree. Was she... crying? He had to admit, Darkness thought it was impossible for canines to cry, but he found that he was being proved wrong in this area; just more proof that he had a lot more exploring to do.

He didn't want to be a stranger and spy on her, nor did he want to introduce himself with his typical bout of overbearing friendliness. It was a rare occasion when he managed to osmose a concept such as "be quiet when someone's crying", but of course he had been staring at her for a while now, hiding in the shadows of the trees. While he wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation, he said the first thing that came to mind; "Hey, is something wrong?" For once he spoke quietly, and his tail wasn't wagging, but his tone - though soft - made it clear that he wanted to have a little chat, even if that wasn't the most appropriate suggestion for the moment.

It's fine, Amy really needs a friend right now / 535 words total

If she had not been too distressed she would have heard the sound of someone approaching. Not to mention she was lying curled up in her tent; feeling such strong loss for her family. The thought of being seen naked made her really uncomfortable; sure her family had seen her naked but she was just a pup and it was okay. Eventually she sat up a little and saw that there was a silhouette; and she could only imagine that it was a male. She felt a little silly because she had a nice coat of fur but she still felt naked and she had no idea if this male was nice. Sure his voice sounded soft but it could easily be a trick. She acted quickly and tugged on her skirt and tank top; it was not much but it made her feel less exposed. She was still being cautious and slowly unzipped the tent flap and looked out to the male. She was greeted with a hulking male with black fur; and at first he look very intimidating. She wanted to duck back into her tent and just hope that he would just leave her alone. But she knew that she was not going to be that lucky.

Figuring he was not going to go away she ducked down a little and got out of the tent; patting down the front of her skirt. She sniffled a little and looked to him; wanting to lie and say that she was okay. Of course that was a down right lie she did not mind that much. She walked up to him and looked up at him with red puffy eyes; it was very clear that she had been crying. She shook her head and just wrapped her arms around her; feeling like she could start crying again any moment. “It’s been a few rough past months,” she said softly as she looked down at the leaf-covered ground. That was officially the understatement of the year but she could not say what had happened to her. Unknown to her Amaterasu really wanted to take over in case this male proved to be hostile or have impure intentions with her. There was just something with males with pure black fur; maybe it was because it contrasted with her pure white fur. Though if he wanted to hurt her then odds are he would have done it by now.

Her paws clenched at the leaves and just felt like shaking; so much she had on her mind and she knew that it would never go away. She knew that she would never be able to forget this; and maybe it was best that she did not but it could not rule her entire life. She was not a brave girl and she knew it; she had not been able to help her family and now she was all alone in this cruel world. She just stood there and kept looking pathetic; and she really hated feeling so weak and unable to do anything for herself. Amaterasu just wanted to sigh; but it was never like Amy was going to learn that she existed in the first place.

The response he got was short and to the point. Well, what had he expected, a long and drawn-out story of how her life had been miserable since the day she was born? Not that he cared to hear her life story; any verbal response was enough for him, since it meant that she was willing to talk; he might be able to get her out of her obviously depressed state and strike up some sort of conversation.

Suddenly realizing that he had probably interrupted a private moment, he was going to offer to leave, but something told him that he should stick around. He wasn't sure how this wolf felt, but when he was sad - wait, he couldn't remember a time when he had ever been sad - he wanted a shoulder to lean on. Maybe he could be that shoulder for this wolf. Again, he didn't expect a confession of everything, he just wanted to try and make another friend, and the easiest way to do that here was to lift her spirits. He had found that canines were nearly always friendlier when they were in a good mood.

Deciding that staying on this topic might not be the best way to make her feel better, he shrugged off the depressed response. "Well," he huffed, "no use in living in the past when all it brings is sadness." It was easy for him to say, of course, since he claimed that he really had no idea what his own past had been like. "Anyway, nice little camp you've got here." He paused, trying to come up with a less direct way to have her introduce herself; she looked a bit scared of him, which he hoped would go away if he didn't seem so demancing. "What would be the name of the nice-camp-builder before me?"

Just give her a little time, she will warm up/ 620 words total

She did not know this male, it was a given that she would not be able to trust him at first. There was no need to give him her whole life story; heck there was a nearly half a year that she had no memory of whatsoever. She did not feel like talking much anyways; there was nothing to talk about since her life had not been very interesting. Amaterasu wanted to kick herself at this point; wanting to take over so badly and come onto the male. Part of her wanted to walk away and go back to her tent; unsure if this male would try to follow her and take advantage of her. She kicked herself mentally for just out right assuming that; she was damaged and there was nothing that would change that. Here he was trying to be nice and here she was just holding herself; still wanting to cry a little bit. It really was the black fur that put her off; it was just the contrast of their fur that frightened her the most. Not to mention that he reminded her of the wolves that had killed her family; it was a surprise that she was not shaking right now.

Telling her not to live in the past was easier than done; there was no way that she would ever be able to put this past her. When he mentioned her camp she looked back to her camp; not really sure what constituted a nice little camp. She looked back at him and tried to smile a little bit; that was mostly thanks to Amaterasu’s will that made her do it. He was going through so much effort to make small talk and she had the companionship of a brick wall; what had happened to the social wolf she used to be? Her paws shifted a little in the leaves and her arms fell down to her side a little; she was starting to feel a little less on the edge now that some time had passed between them. When he asked for her name she looked up at him again; debating to give him a false name or not. “Amaterasu, but everyone just calls me Amy” she said softly in hopes that he would give his name back. Her nickname was reserved for her family and she felt no need for anyone to ever call her that ever again.

She sniffed a little and rubbed her eyes; imagining what a mess she might look like after crying. “I am sorry you had to see me like this, after I just finished crying and all” she said as if she were ashamed for feeling so miserable when he was clearly in a good mood. There was not much else she could say or do; being around a male she had just met and remained a mystery to her. Getting past her initial shock she had to admit that he was quite handsome; but there was no way that such a male would go for such a wolf like her. The very least she could do is offer him to come and stay with her; since she was not sure if he had a den close to here or not. “If you don’t have a place to stay, you are free to stay with me” she said softly; mostly surprised she had actually thought of that. Truth be told that was mostly Amaterasu’s doing and not her own; but it was not like she would ever know that. Her split personality did not go quiet when she was not in control; how else would she ever be able to respond when Amy was in danger?
