OOC:

Here is the character I'm playing. Maeryn Lykoi, probably aged about five months. Here is the territory we'd be playing in, though note that territory wouldn't be playable in the IC forums of the game. :3 If you're confused about that let me know.

IC:

She had been growing rapidly in the past week, her size increasing in what seemed to be utterly random order -- while her body had grown larger, her paws and ears still remained disproportionately large, her ears even more so than her paws. They were the big ears of a coyote, though her father, Zulifer, was fully wolf and Maeryn herself carried only a quarter coyote blood from her mother. She knew these things because Mama had spoken of them and her dead father Zulifer often, quiet lamenting that Maeryn was sure she wasn't meant to hear. These things troubled the girl, and as she roamed south of her native beach-front home, she was instead preoccupied with the thoughts of an exploratory, curious puppy. Young as she was, Maeryn understood more about the world than her happy, carefree demeanor let on. She simply chose not to vocalize her thoughts, instead keeping them to herself and perhaps sharing a choice quote with Kerberos here and there.

Maeryn was smart -- deadly smart, perhaps uncannily so for a child of her age. Then again, so was Kerberos -- their razor intelligence had been cultivated by a mother who was less than doting, less than teaching. Their intelligence rose of necessity; they were lucky to have the rest of Inferni to rely upon. Were it not for the scraps of other canine's kills, the conscientious sharing of food by their elder clan-mates, they might have starved. Perhaps it was due to their heritage and distinction as children of the sub-leader; the few canines of Inferni had little to band them together. Still, they were smart for it -- less intelligent canines might have simply starved for attention and perhaps literally starved, as well.

The youth moved through the swamplands, occasionally having to wade through the water -- she did not mind this; her thick monochrome pelt reflected the water and kept her skin quite dry. Her bright gold eyes surveyed the territory and her russet-splashed muzzle twisted into a grin; the air was warm and thick here, strangely pleasing to the young coyote hybrid, who was used to the cool and breezy air of the coast. She rarely ventured outside of Inferni's territory, but Maeryn was growing more adventurous as she grew. She would not remain in Inferni for long. The sounds of motion caught her ears, and she lifted her head to watch as a crow landed in a branch above her head, his caw seeming to echo through the forest. The avian peered down at the wolf, who snorted and shifted her weight from one leg to the other, staring back at the creature with daring eyes. Her tail arced in curiosity and her ears perked forward, wishing the crow would land before her so she might try to pounce upon him.

Zaine jumped down from the bottom branch of the tree that he had been sitting in,he had been woken up by a strange sound, he had been looking for his mother the past 9 days but it felt a lot longer to him. If it hadn't of been for the Voles mice and rats, he would have died. He went towards the water for a drink, when he finished he decided to explore a little bit, when Zaine was walking along he saw that a part of the black water was playing it was throwing up white stuff. He walked towards and came to an edge,Zaine noticed that he was quite high up and ran back in fear,he thought that he would fall and if he did the water would swallow him and he would join the ever sleepers. So he ran back to the trees to find a way further down,as he walked down the snake he remembered his mum running it was great fun then the evil stick came and made her an ever sleeper. As he remembered this he saw a black animal siting alone it was the perfect plaything so he ran at it.

IC:

Maeryn had never been granted an opportunity for childhood. Hers was unknown -- the earliest memories she possessed were of hunger, of cold -- she and Kerberos just barely survived, subsisting on what little their mother provided for them. It was this neglect, however, that had honed the young girl's senses and whetted her intelligence to a razor's edge. This sharpening, however, had left Maeryn an oddly cold and distant sort of child, rarely willing to engage in the puppyish play and demeanor that ought to have characterized her interactions.

This crow was the exception -- fascinated by birds, the young girl wanted only to catch him and steal his wings so that she herself might fly away, catapulted to impossible heights by the winds themselves. Glittering golden-yellow eyes watched the bird's awkward land-bound shuffle, watched as he hopped from one foot to the other, suddenly nervous with the quiet that had fallen over the forest. A sound, and he lit into the air, cawing his amusement down at Maeryn, who stared up in dismay, her small face curled into a wicked snarl, anger welling in her at the failure. So distracted was she, the hybrid did not register the sound that had frightened the crow up and away to be the noise of an approach.

The smaller child burst through the underbrush and barreled toward Maeryn, who screeched her fear in a fierce, yet still puppyish and high-pitched growl, whirling and leaping to avoid the charge of the other puppy. In an instant, she was nearly pressed flat on the ground, ears folded back and hackles, tail, and everything else raised to show herself as large as she possibly could. The pale puppy was a wolf! It was attacking her! She did not recognize his advance as play, and so instead backed herself up against a tree, fear welling up in her aside the anger. What if its parents followed behind? She did not want to face an entire pack of wolves. Maeryn never should have left the safety of her clan.

“What do you want?” she said, trying to make her voice as demanding and cold as she could. She had been frightened; she did not like being frightened. What creature did? As the hybrid listened, she did not hear the sounds of any other wolves. Maybe this one was alone. Relaxing half a hair, the hybrid picked her head up and looked at him suspiciously. “You're alone, too?” she asked quickly, wishing to determine then and there whether she needed to run away.

Zaiine looked into the other wolfs eyes. He did not understand her expression was it anger or fear, she was lying flat like he did when he was scared but her eyes were scary. "to play with the birdie mummys gone just me".

Zaine walked over to the stranger, at the slowest pace he could manage when walking. "Are you nowhare too" He lay there and atempted a smile. "What are you called."
