FROM DOUT - as Raiden Venatoire.
Quote: With a flick of a Smokey grey tail, Raiden slipped silently from his ‘room’ and out into the upcoming night. He breathed, hides heaving as the fresh, clean air filled his stagnant lungs. It was remarkably good to be out of the caverns, why he had stayed in there for so long – the stagnant, foul smelling air had already tainted his lungs and nostrils. The clean and pure atmosphere of the outside world was almost foreign to the male but greatly welcomed by him. Had it not been for the smell of blood that swiftly reached his nostrils, Raiden would have streamed out into the night life and hunted in the darkness. Curiosity, however had Raiden turn instantly on his heels and dive into the caverns entrance again, paws sliding in an effort to steady the large, muscular form of the enigma male. His dark, rounded ears tipped backwards as the pungent stench of the caverns hit him – it would take him a while to get used to the damp smell of his new home, hopefully he would be here long enough to get used to ( which was his plan ).

He followed the scent of blood to the centre of the caverns, having followed the same corridor that Pretend and her daughter had before him. Now he could see her, sitting –defeated?- near the black, stagnant lake of the caverns. No light could make it through the shafts in the ceiling, the moonlight was not as strong as the daily sunshine, but my did the fungus shine. It glowed so brightly that it was hard to tear his gaze away from it to focus on pretend. However, after much fighting with himself he lowered his head and leapt from a small, soft edged ledge to the lower ground. At first he was slightly panicked, being the good old gentleman that he was, he was hoping that pretend was not hurt. She was the only wolf he had really talked to from Enigma and yes – he felt like he automatically owed her respect and kindness because of it. He stepped lightly, but deliberately mustered a cough that rumbled loudly from his throat – alerting her to his presence.

Raiden picked the little pup out beside her mother which muse ease – he had barely had to search for anyone else before he noted the child. It was the same child who had been present at the meeting. “Something wrong?”. He tried to be a soft and as lyrical as one could be, but despite his attempt, his unused voice came out as a rushed and hoarse whisper. He cleared his throat, this time genuinely and set his gaze on the young girl. “Hey. I’m Raiden, what your name?” he didn’t baby talk her, as a matter of fact his voice was as level as it had been the first time he spoke. He flicked his gaze towards pretend as he sank ungracefully to his haunches; grey smoky tail brushing the floor, in a slight almost excited wag.

As Nevaeh Valentine - from dout

Quote:she followed behind her mother; like a puppy dog on a leash. Trailing behind with her tail tucked ungracefully between her legs, head lowered and ears flat against her white head. She was nervous; couldn’t you tell? With every step closer to the gathering, with every second that passed she was almost regretting coming here. They wouldn’t like her, especially if Avril was there to warp their minds, to tell them how pathetic and weak she was. Still, it would be great to see Avril – despite how vicious her sister was she did truly miss her. She had been surprised to hear that karina mei had allowed Avril to go and live in the rebel pack lands. at first Nevaeh had been –naturally- happy for her sister, however as she soon began to realize that Avril had finally gotten what she wanted and was now away ( far, far away ) from Nevaeh, it had begun to hurt the dear girls heart. Perhaps she was just being selfish but she had every right to cling onto her childhood – the one part of her life that had not involved any dramatic changes, were everything had just been as she had wanted it, when everything had just been perfect. Now Avril was gone, she had nieces and nephews that she had never even met, her mother had changed her name and here Nevaeh was. Stuck where she had always been, between reality and her beautiful, perfect, pristine wonderland, were fairytales existed and happily ever afters were just around the corner.

She was lured from the depths of her thoughts by the soft, harmonious tones of her mother. With a weary and hesitant sigh, the ice she wolf lifted her head and strode to the side of Mei. As her mother spoke, Nevaeh drew to a halt, her delicate features turned towards the elegant white damsel. Tenderly, she touched her wet nose to her mother’s shoulder “if you do not belong here, then neither do I. I am more apart of you than I am them. They do not want me mother, I told you that before”, yet somehow through the soft and gentle flow of her words came a strong and fiery determination.  In order to move forward and out of dreamland she had to meet with her father – see him with her own eyes but it wouldn’t be enough to just see him. No, she would have to try and understand him, like Avril did. She would have to try and forgive him – which would be rather easy considering Nevaeh was familiar with such a thing. With a soft, confident smile, Nevaeh took her nose from her mothers shoulder and continued a head, her steps slowly, wary, soft as she walked.  And then she saw them – the very sight of them all there, how large a group of valentines had gathered ( even though it was not all of them ) made her freeze. The untamable fur that stuck up like her fathers, which ran along her back no matter what she did, rose even higher with…fear? Fear was beginning to control her life lately, she was letting it become apart of her without even trying to chase it away. She turned, with eyes narrowed in confusion, to find that her mother had retreated even further away, She shook her head but couldn’t speak – ( don’t go ) was her silent plead, expressed through the blue eyes that she had inherited from Vexx. ( don’t go ).

Nevaeh Valentine once again turned her attention back on the gathered ground – she only knew one of those gathered and that was Avril. Her keen, sharp blue eyes locked onto the form of her sister, however it was the words she will be brining Nevaeh that caused the ice she-wolf to stir and exchange her lock on Avril to her lock on a black, male wolf. Vexx Valentine. She felt her lungs collapse and then she gasped for breath, her father was actually here, was actually right in front of her. She needed some stability, something to keep her standing up but unfortunately there was nothing for her to hold onto. Her hind legs gave way to her body and she sunk –with a rather gruff note of complain – to her rump. She was weak, here she was in the company of her ‘family’ and all she could do was fall to the ground with…what? Surprise, shock, anger, hatred? No, she couldn’t place a finger on it. She couldn’t help but stare at him – occasionally her gaze flicking to the near by figure of Avril. They looked oh so alike such a perfect match for father and daughter. Nevaeh was the odd one out, with a casual glimpse at her paw, affirming that was white ( as she had always been ) she soon felt claustrophobic. she was truly the odd one out – no wait. With a tilt of her chin which gave her a clear range of eyesight she saw a white male – his coat was even more pure that hers but his heart, no doubt was of the more morbid kind. See that was where Nevaeh was different, it was not the colour of her fur nor the hue of her eyes, it was what principals and values made her tick and she could guess that it was  not the same values as her blood family. so far she had only seen one thing that they had in common and that was the reason for this gathering – family, of blood and or of love. Despite this shimmer of hope for being accepted, Nevaeh sat in silence, her eyes now turned down to the ground and her attention tuned out.

Quote:The hush that had befallen the lands this clear, crisp morning, was an eerie one. Nevaeh had been awake for a while now,  2 hours at the very least; she couldn’t sleep. Although she was grown up ( almost a fully fledged adult now, 2 years of age ) she still yearned for her mother and even her sister. However both karina and Avril  had been out of nevaeh’s sight since their argument, when Nevaeh had run away. Since that day a few things had happened, Nevaeh was a hunter of ice, she had almost drowned and almost drowned someone in the process, made a few friends and explored most of Doutaini. As a pup Nevaeh had sworn never to have a favourite place for fear that she would hurt the unoccupied  ( or rather unclaimed ) land’s feelings, but she would have to admit that the serene fields had become her most desired place to explore. She still – to some extent – thought that the earth itself had feelings, perhaps for that reason she would find herself more suiting to the earth pack instead of in the sierras. A soft sigh brushed past vaeh’s lips and she lowered her head; it was hard for the white she-wolf to stay in such a sombre mood, usually a bright smile graced the females features, but today something was different.

Her life lacked something; fun? No she had plenty of that, vaeh could create her own fun out of thin air if she willed it, she could make anyone have fun even if they were dead set on not having fun at all; fun was not what her life lacked. A pack? No she had one of those, ice was her home as well as her pack and although she had been wanting to leave and find out more about earth or perhaps even enigma she simply could not bare to ask the alpha for permission to go. She owed ice something, she was a ranked female there and she had not even participated in a hunt! Hunting was what her rank required, so perhaps a hunting she would go. Later but, right now she was preoccupied with her thoughts and a cramped brain was not exactly an excellent hunting tool. So what then, was it her life lacked? She had family…well no she didn’t have family anymore. sure they were still out there but they weren’t around anymore. Vaeh huffed and dragged her swollen paw across the ground, she had been able to put some weight on it since the accident – when she almost drowned and almost drowned another-, but it was still somewhat, sore.

A cool breeze swept across the grasses of the serene fields in an easterly direction, causing Nevaeh’s Mohawk to flatten against the rest of her body. Her eyelids closed softly over blue eyes, her lower jaw slipping loose and leaving a slight gap in her mouth. The she-wolf simply breathed content for the moment to embrace the cool, calming breeze. Nevaeh did miss the cold of her home, having spent many a day out in the natural lands now; she was beginning to miss the lower temperature of the sierras. At least to day she could enjoy the splendour of the unclaimed lands along with the cool of the sierras. As the wind died down she sighed, opened her eyes and softly snapped her jaws shut – not before her tongue quickly rounded her jaws-. The ice huntress had hoped to have found some company today, however it was early in the morning – before the sun had even thought about getting up and the stars and moon were in full glow – and she would be mighty surprised if anyone else was awake at this time.

Nevaeh lowered her hind end to the ground and curled her tail around her paws, carefully she set her swollen and bruised paw on the earth, most of her weight held by her hind limbs. Fortunately her ribs had healed, none of them had been broken and with a paste like ‘medicine’ taken every morning the pain had slowly went away. Unfortunately her newfound fear of water had failed to vanish. As a pup she had fallen into the river and been saved and the most recent event – the one mentioned here – terrified her greatly. She was going to stay clear in fact, of fast, turbid water for a while, perhaps she would regain her confidence in time. For now the ice she-wolf was perfectly content sitting amongst the sea of grass. Crickets jumped around her paws conjuring up a familiar smile to the fae’s muzzle. The crickets danced and sung like there was no tomorrow, partied, almost, like they knew their life expectancy was short. Vaeh was glad that her life was –hopefully- long lasting; she wasn’t ready to leave this world just yet.
