a bell ringing through the wind-blown trees

The morning sun had brought such surprising news as Nayati could never had imagined: Liliana was expecting pups. Well, true, it couldn't be that surprising, but such a wonderful shock it was. One thing that Nayati had always wanted was to find his love and to start a family with her. He had found Liliana, and now they were on their way to their very own little family. When she had told him after the initial excitement, hooping and hollering had subsiding he had knelt down to look at her still flat belly. Now that he was aware, he could smell something a bit different about her scent. The man lovingly kissed his mate's stomach that now housed such precious little lives. It was hard to believe that the family he had always dreamed of having was about to come to fruition in a little over a moon's time. The man did not think that he could be any happier.

There was only so much time for private celebration of their news though; they still had to go find Dawali to let him know they were back and to deliver their news from the Great Tribe. The mated pair left their hut to head towards the Town Hall and the Great Fire as Nayati was certain the Kalona would be somewhere in that area. As they walked, the hunter tried to think of how to deliver the news of his meeting with the new Chief of the Great Tribe. On the surface everything about the audience had been as one might have expected, but the strange feeling he had had during the encounter was something that he simply could not shake. He did not want to worry Dawali, for truly he did not think there was any real reason for concern, but the Gadui Kanati had also learned to trust his gut instincts. Unfortunately, he wasn't even sure what those instincts were telling him.

Once the two Utinas reached the main part of the village he let out a soft, short howl for the Kalona announcing their presence. He knew that the Amara would be happy to see them back, and he would be glad to see his old friend again.

The male stared at the half-woven shirt, not entirely knowing what he was looking for. His mind sort of froze with boredom; Dawali had come to realize that while he had been still recovering from his wounded leg, things around the tribe had run a lot more smoothly than he had anticipated, even after Nayati and Liliana had left. And so he had decided to allow himself the extra time to nurture his own interests. Day by day, he realized more and more that his interests were the same old boring chores they had ever been, and he grew restless. His ears moved as he gazed absent-mindedly into nowhere, but he started when he heard a very familiar voice, got up and grinned broadly.

He was quite familiar with the walking stick now. Hurrying outside, the red wolf held it in one hand as he extended the other widely towards his two friends. How he had missed them! The trek was surely longer than the Chief had anticipated. "Liliana, Nayati - come here!" he exclaimed, very decisively and unceremoniously, and smiling very broadly. Why, here were faces he had become so accustomed to having around, he'd never realized how much a part of the tribe they were until they had left. The old medic moved his arm in circles, eagerly urging them to come inside, where he drew up a couple of chairs with blankets on. Everything had blankets on. He had been very, very bored. Sitting down, he looked at them eagerly, very much at their will to share news of his family and of the Great Tribe. "Well...? How was it?" he asked, not wasting a single second by beating around the bush.

WC:586 OOC: Woo Lili is nothing but happy and Nayati is slight serious.... what a pair!!

Their return had been uneventful as they were too tired to do anything. Liliana most of all, with the pups taking her energy and she didn’t know it until the day before really, and the horses, corralling and pushing them in the direction she wanted took so much out of the wolf dog, but she did her best not to show it. She told Nayati her news the second they got up, too excited to keep it from him, how could she keep something so precious hidden from him, and to tell him and Dawali at the same time? She was by his side as they headed towards Dawali, happy they had good news to bring back their chief. Nayati had told her of the meeting, though he was distracted much of the way back she was sure he just wanted to get home as soon as she wanted, and to finally get back into the groove of their routine again, but this time it would have to change, with pups on the way... it would be hard to not change at all. Smiling she listened as her mate gave a howl for their leader, and it was no time before she saw Dawali hobbling on his leg toward them, and it seemed he was thrilled to see they were back. Liliana wagged her bushy tail, happy to be home herself. Dawali motioned for them to go inside, and what she saw was pretty... it seemed their chief had gotten bored the whole time his leg healed and made use of his hands while waiting for the day he could walk again.

“Dawali, it is so good to see you again!”

Her soft voice was sincere, she had missed her leader a good deal. She liked him more than the Great Tribe, who was all customs and didn’t let anything slip past him from what she’d seen of him, though she spent most of her time with Nayati’s parents... well mother really, and Liliana learned much from the older woman. She finally had a mother again, and though she would never replace the mother she once had she would feel that even though she only gotten to be her daughter in law through mating, she still felt that even if Nayati and her were not mated, that the woman would be her mother anyhow.

“It was more than I could have ever imagined Dawali, it must have been hard for you to leave, it was for both of us, everyone was very nice there. and... we have a bit of news first.

She said, feeling that the news from the chief could wait, she wanted to at least announce the addition that was soon to come into AniWaya.

“Me and Nayati... we are, well... we are going to be parents!”

She said, she knew there was more to the announcement, but as she was only half of what was going on here she felt her mate should have the say in it, after all Nayati was great friends with their chief. It excited her to see what Dawali’s reaction to what Nayati had to say though and she felt like she was going to burst with the excitement. It was possibly a mixture of things that made her feel so excited, but she knew that she was going to become a mother and their whole experience with Nayati’s family were the biggest factors.

His call for the Kalona was answered almost immediately as the Amara made his way out of the Town Hall. A smile instantly planted itself onto the hunter's maw, thrilled to see the elder man again. It was also a relief to see that Dawali's leg was healing as well as could be expected. It would take a while for Nayati to get used to the sight of his friend needing the held of a walking stick to get around; the injury to the Chief would be a constant reminder of the damage the past winter had wrought upon the tribe. There was no time to dwell on the ills past though, not with a happy reunion at hand and important news to be shared. His own tail wagged in time with his mate's as they followed the Chief inside of the Town Hall, which was amusingly draped in freshly woven blankets. Nayati couldn't stifle the toothy grin that came to his face. "We are not the only ones who have been busy, it seems," he joked, giving a wink towards Dawali as he took a seat.

He let Liliana speak first, giving her impressions of the Great Tribe. It had been a bit of a whirlwind trip and there was much more they could have experienced if they had stayed longer, but neither of them had wanted to be away from AniWaya any longer than they had to be. Before they got to any official business though, his lovely mate shared their exiting personal news and the Utina man simply beamed as she said the words again, this time to their friend. Nayati placed one hand on Lili's leg, giving it a light squeeze as he looked lovingly to her before returning his attention to Dawali, eager to see how he would react to the announcement.

I thought I had posted here, I even remember what I wrote Sad

Liliana greeted him warmly, and Dawali returned the greeting with a smile on his face. It was, truly, hard to know how much you missed familiar faces until they returned to you. Nayati's voice rang, and Dawali smirked. So, they had returned to make jokes of his boredom, had they? The Chief was instantly amused at Nayati's remark, and moved his arm around in a wave, emphasizing what he spoke of as he replied in a humorous voice. "Ah well, you know at least one of us has to think about decoration, eh?". It had nothing to do with the fact he was bored beyond belief. Nothing at all.

His attention turned to Liliana again and she spoke with enthusiasm about his home. Just as he felt homesickness tug a little at his heart, his feeling was replaced by curiosity at her mention of news. News of the tribe? His family perhaps? His daughters? His ears perked as he waited, and he'd been so narrow in his line of thought, thinking only about the Great Tribe, that he was truly surpised when she revealed the news not long after. But what glorious news they were! He glanced at her stomach as he grinned broadly, reprimanding himself for not noticing the change in her scent. "Really?" Was he not a medic, after all? She carried some signs, but they were vague. Still, he should have seen them. Looking from Nayati to Liliana, beaming, he wasn't entirely certain what to do with his arms. "That's great! Since when have you known?" His hands moved in less elegant patterns than usual, in reality eager to hug them both and touch her stomach. He contended himself to sit on his chair and talk eagerly instead, ears very pointed and his eyes very much alive.

WC:231 OOC: Rawr I <3 you two Big Grin

The look on Dawali’s face was all that Liliana needed for an approval of her and Nayati’s pups, of course she had no doubt they wouldn’t be approved of, they were a mated pair after all and quite old enough to take care of children. She was glowing when he spoke, knowing he was wondering when she would have them. She wondered herself, she didn’t know much about being pregnant at all.

“I really just found out yesterday. I am so glad to be here though and be able to have them. I was hoping you would be the one to help with the birth,

She said quietly. She was still shy somewhat, and she knew what it meant for him to help with the birth, but she knew that Nayati didn’t really birth children much himself and she knew this is something he would want too, even if they did not discuss it She knew the excitement would die down and Nayati would have to give his own news up soon, but she was happy that Dawali was excited. She wanted him to do the ceremony for whatever it was that needed doing, she knew there was one but never delved into it, but she would come time, because she was here and pregnant, and she didn’t want any bad luck to befall her children.

Nayati's relationship with their Kalona was a close one and he did not even think twice about making such jokes with the Amara. If they were still back in the Great Tribe the hunter would never have deigned to take such a casual and friendly tone with the Chief, but this was not the Great Tribe and his relationship with Dawali went back much further than when this tribe had taken its roots and the elder wolf had risen to such eminence. The Utina had known Dawali his whole life and could not imagine losing the easy manner that they took with one another. The pale male laughed heartily and loud at the Chief's comment. "I suppose so yes. I have no knack for such things." No one would accuse the Gadui Kanati as having an eye for interior decoration.

It was obviously a great surprise to Dawali to hear the news of their upcoming parenthood, but no doubt his mind had been focused on hearing news directly about or from the Great Tribe and not something so personal from the pair. It had not been anything they had particularly planned, but neither of them regretted what had come about at all. "And she just informed me this morning when we woke." The Gadui Kanati nodded in assent with his mate's request. "We would both be honored if you helped bring our pups into the world." There was not another soul he would rather have that station; he trusted Dawali completely as he trusted no other when it came to such things.

Hello! I am Marit, I am quite slow and I write short posts. Let me know if you do not want to keep this thread, I feel really bad ><
#333 <-- holy post is holy

He chuckled warmly at his friend, the edges of his eyes curled as his skin wrinkled with his smile. Oh, it was great to have them back. This fact paled in comparison to the news the couple was sharing with him, though, and his smile only broadened further as they continued to explain. It warmed him in so many ways to know that his close friends were going to make such a life for themselves in his tribe; who would have thought? Again and again, pups were born into the tribe, and it was a relly good sign that his tribe was healthy and faring well. But most of his joy came from his relationship to these two. It was as if he was becoming an uncle again and again when puppies arrived at the tribe from one source or another. To learn of further additions to the family of AniWaya was certainly great news!

His smile died down a little when Nayati asked his question, but it broadened again quickly. He was surprised, but more than happy to help them with the tasks at hand. Perhaps he should not have been surprised, as he was the main medic of the tribe, but it felt much more like a couple of friends asking him to do it, than tribesmembers asking their Priest. Quite high on his emotions, Dawali threw his hands out to his sides and shook his head. "Well I—" he started. "But of course!" Still smiling, he bounced and reached for Liliana's hand and shook it, as if she was too fragile to recieve the embrace he wanted to share with both of them. She was not so fragile yet, far from it - he could barely discern any physical evidence of their news, after all. "I'm not really sure what to say" he said, calming down a little. "We need to equip your hut, obviously!" His hand moved to point towards his large stack of unused blankets in the corner.

OOC: sorry for horrible crappy stupd idelay, and you guys can skip any posts i have from here on out, I may make one or two, but I think Liliana will be in her own little world XD

Liliana was happy and feeling warm, this was why she love AniWaya, most of the wolves here were warm to one another and their leader was kind, caring and always thinking about the needs of the pack. She smiled, but said little more, she was in a dreamy thought of little ones running around her hut, and of them growing up, though she was in no hurry for such a thing. Dawali’s hands resting on her brought her from her daydream and she smiled, and couldn’t help feeling happy he had accepted. She loved the man as a brother, and a leader, but leader most of all. She knew that Nayati and him were both like brothers and she knew that he would be just as happy about Dawali’s answer. She looked at the blankets, the poor man had too much time on his hands these days. She smiled more warmly at the mention of Equipping the hut. They would need to do so that was sure. Their hut was big enough to hold puppies now but it was still made for the two …. at least for now.
