His words were soothing, and he had been the first wolf to hear about her misdeed with the stranger, besides her mother, and in a way it was slightly relieving, and she knew she shouldn’t be judging him by the man that had done that to her, but she was afraid of rejection, afraid of getting her heart broken once more. He was kind to her, and though she had already treated him, gave him what he needed and needed to know, here he was willing to take her on a tour of his lands, and talked to her and all out seemed to care She smiled a little but said nothing, only letting the conversation become carried to the bow in which he explained that the bow had other qualities other than killing.

“I see, then maybe, I mean I don’t see why I can’t learn.”

Maybe it would be fun, she wasn’t sure she was still apprehensive, but she would know soon enough. She was a positive person, or tried to be, and she tried to be open minded, and he was curious how it worked, it was a strange instrument and she had never really seen a bow, not in use at least, some of the AniWayans had them, but she was never around to see them in use.

“What could it hurt if I learn?”

She asked mostly to herself, her ears now raised, and ready to follow Saluce.

His blue eyes watched her ivory face smile and that was all the sign he needed to know about his words somewhat winning her over a bit. For now he’d try to keep his comments down a bit and ease her into it. It was truly a sad day when his word meant nothing and he made a mental note to track down evil doers of word play and their meaningless drivel. His tail started a furious swiping spree behind him, and he honestly had never known himself to become so elated when around someone to cause that loss of control. No he chalked it up to her presence. She had a way with him already, and she had him following her like a lost puppy until they were properly outside.

He sat the target on a tree branch, bracing it properly to keep the wind from nocking it down before returning to her that smile still remaining plastered across his face. First he’d show her how it was done; he raised the bow up, notched an arrow and pulled the string back. Saluce let it be known was not a good archer, his frame and his nervous nature never allowed him to keep a steady aim. But he pulled it back and let the arrow fly the short distance and hit the target. He knew enough to get him by but that was it. Finally he shook his head and handed the bow to her.

“Alright to take the notch of the arrow and put it between the string, then with your other hand holding the bow rest the arrow on your hand and pull the arrow and string with you’re other. Once you have your target in sight let go of the string and arrow and watch to see if you hit it,” he gave his instructions while he walked to reset the target and grab the arrow. Most of the time he liked to have a pupil struggle a bit with something new before stepping in to help but with Amata he already wanted to do it all for her. But he held back he just took up a place behind her and waited to see how well she did on her own.

WC: 306 OOC: What a nerd.... come to find out I had the same exact problem when i first started archery ... wish i coulda learned more

She watched him as he set the target up and came back She looked at it curiously, well at least it wasn’t a representation of a dead animal, that was a plus. Then she watched as he go the bow ready, pulled on it, aimed and let the arrow fly. She was officially impressed, this was something she might enjoy, it did look like it would take patience and practice, and it could be an outlet for her anger, for even though she wanted to be a good wolf didn’t meant she didn’t have ill thoughts of others He gave her the bow, and instructed her what to do with it, though he left her at that. Her first try was dismal. She looked rediculous when she put the arro into the string, and thought she would get herself tangled up, but though that had frustrated her slightly that did not make her stop. She would get this now that she set her mind to it, but she finally got the arrow on the string but she couldn’t keep the stupid thing from floppping one way or another. Though she was a proud wolf and figured she could do it on her own, she also knew that asking for help would be considerably quicker, and she would learn what to do with out making herself to it.

“How do you get the arrow to stay on the bow?”

She asked rather abashed but having to, but she knew she couldn’t get it the first try and if she’d actually gone ahead with the way she was doing it and pulled the string she would have found the arrow only go a few inches in front of her, but as she swallowed her pride she didn’t have to feel that slight humiliation.

He was already inching his way up behind her; he wanted to help her so badly. His eyes watched her struggling with the arrow, and he desperately wanted to move in and do it for her. But he didn’t, he stood behind her with a soft smile, his tail slowly swishing behind him. He had had the same problem when he had tried the freaking thing; he had a love hate relationship with bows as it was. They were the only thing that could really cause him massive harm and counter all his armor and protection.

When she seemed to finally reach her point and her voice came across his ears he was instantly there. His form molded to hers as his arm reached out to help her with keeping the arrow. For now he didn’t notice that it was the first time they had been this close, he was focused on the task at hand. He molded her hand to allow the arrow to sit along her thumb, both of their bodies in harmony together before his voice rumbled forth against her back.

“Aim just along the arrow’s shaft, keep it held just there along your thumb resting, then when you have it in your sights,” his head rested along her shoulder, muzzle coming along hers from behind, “Just have your fingers let go of the draw string while holding the bow steady and it should fly true.” Everything else was up to Amata, he’d do this as many times as it took, not that he minded but if she needed him to take a gentle hand with her then he would.

He seemed to comply with her request immidiately, and though he didn’t notice his own closeness to her, she did, though it was not discomforting, and he was showing her how this worked, he moved her hand where it was suppose to be, and she focused on the task at hand, but still quite aware at how close he was to her. His muzzle next her hers, his hands shaping hers to where they were meant to go, it was all slightly disconcerting, as she had always had only family near her, never a stranger, well he wasn’t so much a stranger, but even close friends had always kept hteir distance. She listened as he instructed her and she aimed trying to get the center of the target, then let go, and with a snap the arrow flew.... and kept flying past the target itself for a good ten paces. Amata did not see this as she didn’t know the after effect of a bow string could easily take the fur off her arm

“ow...

She said as she looked at her arm where it had rested against the bow to hold it in place. It was red raw and much of her hair was missing, well that wasn’t something she wanted What had she done wrong.

“I did something wrong I think, that hurts, how do i keep it steady and keep my arm away at the same time?”

She asked, never mind that the man had positioned her hands as perfectly as he could and was there to support her the whole time, but the string was an unpredictable thing and this was something the cream colored woman was oblivious about. Had she known she would be less confused and angry with herself and more angry with the way nature worked with the string itself.

Somehow he felt a bit of apprehension from her, but for now this was the only way to learn. Then the arrow was away, she was high on her aim. He was mentally going through her mistakes before his ears caught the alarm of her voice and his form left hers quickly as his hand gently held her arm to inspect for any damage.

He didn’t act like this, normally such a thing would bring laughter to his maw at his pupils mistake but she was different and he really didn’t want her to get hurt because of him. Finally satisfied that she wasn’t drastically hurt he took up the task of teaching her how to hold her arm. He took the bow from her gently, with a smile before he gestured for her to come near him so she could look at his placement. The bow may have been a bit big for her but it was the only one he had, and it was powerful enough to bring down a deer at a good distance. Now though he pulled the bowstring back without an arrow his head swiveling back to look at her.

“See how I hold it at full draw with my left arm slightly angled away from the bow strings path? You don’t lock your arm either since that would pull it straight into the path.” Saluce let the bowstring go and it thumped forward missing his arm and not skinning him.

“Ready to try again?”

He checked her, though she was the doctor and she couldn’t help but be embarrassed at her slight outcry of something so small, though it was unexpected and still did sting, but he seemed to want to prevent her from doing again, but she wasn’t sure that it would be so easy, even when he made it look like it was. He had her look at how he did it and she paid close attention to the way he pulled it back, as though it was not tight against the wood of the bow, but just a string that was dangling there. She watched in particular the way he held his hands and demonstrated.

“I think I can try that, maybe without the arrow first”

she said when he asked if she was ready. She was not one to quit when something bad happened. She was like her mother like that, a stubborn creature ready to prove something to herself. Now it was that she could master this instrument of power. She took the bow back, and smiled at him, her missmatched eyes sparkling a little in the excitement of this new learning experience. She then pulled it back and held it in place, almost as perfectly as he did, though she knew something was off, but couldn’t figure, what, though she remembered to bend the elbow that held the bow itself, but he arm holding the string was slightly off, so if the arrow were on there she would have a hard time keeping it on. She let the string go though, and it snapped, but not against her skin. She smiled at this accomplishment. Then she did a few more practice trials before looking for an arrow, the only ones being on Saluce’s back. She moved towards him and though she got close, she knew the game she was suddenly playing as she reached around for and arrow. She got dangerously close to him, though more innocently than being any seductive kind of way. She then blushed a bit and looked away from him and turned back to the target, composing herself, taking a few deep breaths before knocking the arrow. Though she did remember to bend her elbow, she did forget to keep the other one in its own position, resulting in a short flying arrow, that dug into the ground. Amata frowned a little, but as this was her first time, she was still not discourage.

The behemoths hearts skipped a beat as his icy blue hues watched her come up and reach across him to snag an arrow. Nothing about her seemed to hint at any seductive thoughts from her but he found it the most erotic thing to date. Even the cute little nervous smile she gave, while he assumed the skin underneath her fur was beat red. If he had given himself anytime to think he would have found his own skin beat red blushing as well. Saluce gave her a smile back as he took up a spot beside her to cross his arms and watch how she was doing.

He found nothing lacking in how she held the bow except for the arrow, but when it flew only a few feet away he reached back and grabbed an arrow for her so she wouldn’t have to get so pleasantly close to him. Even if that’s what he wanted he wanted her comfortable with him, and for now she still had to learn how to shoot that bow.

“Just take deep breathes and concentrate on your form and your aiming point. As you keep trying to you’ll start finding a rhythm to it as well.” He reached across then and gently placed his thumb over the bicep belonging to her draw arm and smiled, “You’ll also start building this muscle as well. It takes your whole body though to pull the bowstring, it’s made for someone larger and heavier built but something tells me that won’t stop you,” he pulled his hand away just as quickly as it had proved the point. The game was to take it slow with her, already she was warming up to him, he could feel it.

She didn’t see any change in him as he watched her shoot her next arrow, and he pulled out another for her and handed it to her, she smiled great fully, thinking he was surely far more gentlemanly than the wolf she thought she’d cared about. She was learning not all men were horrible. She listened to him as he explained to her what more to do and explained the bow was made for someone stronger and added a compliment to her she did have to smile at this because he was absolutely right. She wouldn’t let that get in the way of things, she felt him touch her arm but ingnored it, letting him continue with his lesson. She nodded and when he stepped back she took a few deep breaths and pulled the bow up, the arrow already knocked and she was aiming, both her eyes open, staring at the target. She concentrated and waited before she was sure this time she would hit the target, she’d aimed and she kept her posture, and then she let loose, She had moved the bow down too soon, not following through, but it only mattered that it would hit the bottom of the target rather than where she was aiming. As soon as it embedded itself in the target Amata’s tail shot in a victorious wag.

“I hit it, did you see that! I can’t believe it!”

She said almost puppy-like. Though she aimed and wanted to hit it, she wasn’t sure if she was going to. She liked this, it was not so hard, but challenging enough to get her interested maybe this was the thing that she had been wanting to learn all along and it was thanks to Saluce for helping her find it. She knew she had made a good choice in his friendship.

Saluce watched, and his face lit up with a huge smile as the target was hit. That furred appendage of his was sent wagging in a frenzy and his own joy almost peaked hers. The emotions ran through him and he found himself moving forward to her, he wanted to show her just how happy his was but he stopped just short of her. Thinking a hug may have been too much contact at this point, so his hand rose up and messed her hair playfully with a smirk.

Finally he moved away and spoke his excitement “Nice shot! Amata, you’ll be picking off apples in trees at 500 yards in no time!” He gave her a gentle chuckle before handing her several arrows and walking the short distance to retrieve the target. Removing the arrow he walked further this time and set it at twice the distance. This is where shooting a bow started to get tricky, now she would have to take into account what the humans called gravity.

He walked briskly back to her with a smirk “Now that you’ve got the hang of using the bow, you have to start taking into account how much the arrow will drop with distance. The draw weight of this bow is strong and you’ve done a good job so far of being able to pull it back, but as with any bow it can only shoot straight for so long before gravity takes hold.” Saluce intended to let her fire several more arrows before he’d start their tour of Dahlia. She enjoyed it way too much for him to stop her fun so soon.

WC: 319 OOC: 30 posts WOOT!!!

She was so happy she hit the target and it seemed to go from her to Saluce in no time. He seemed quite happy and he moved toward her as though he was going to take her into his arms, but instead he ruffled her hair, her finely painstakingly perfect hair, though she was not angry. She only beamed her happiness too him, and put the bow between her legs as she fixed the hair he disheveled. She’d be a good archer if she kept practicing. He gave her some arrows and she watched as he moved towards the target, and wondered what he was doing. It became apparent when he moved it further out and headed back, speaking to her. Gravity, such a wonderful and yet horrible thing, she nodded thinking of how to figure out the natural law without fully understanding it. That was impossible. She would have to learn the hard way.

“Well here’s to gravity then”

She said when Saluce was out of the way. She knocked an arrow and pulled back, aimed and let it loose, this time her arms stayed where they were for a second, and the arrow flew straighter than the one before it, but it barely got to the target and bounced off. Amata tried again, the next one she did her best to pull the string back further, her muscles now screamed for her to release but she had to make sure she got the mark, and then she let loose, the arrow flew further and she got it SHe smiled, this time not making such a big deal out of it.

“I like this, it could be a lot of fun!”

She said lowering the bow to him, a happy glow along her face. She was absolutely happy that he had seemed more inclined to teaching her than to feeling insulted by her actions earlier, it made her glad he had at least forgiven her about it.

The behemoth just grinned from ear to ear, wanting to yip happily at her in the way that he had never really known. He had always been a more quiet man, even when he was younger, expressionless and stone cold. But as soon as she started trying he wanted to run around her in such a childish fashion yipping happily that it even surprised him that the emotion crossed his mind and that he almost moved to start. Finally he calmed himself a bit the energy coming from him almost too much to bear. Then her first shot thumped across his ear and his eyes moved quickly to watch its flight before it hit the ground short of its mark. But to his amazement she already had another arrow notched and ready to go on its way by the time he looked back up to her.

Then away the arrow went, and it found its mark. And her angelic voice crawled across his ears then, giving him a minor case of goose bumps. Saluce beamed at her and nodded politely before his hand rubbed her back in praise. But the day was starting to get long on them, mid-day had just passed and if she wanted a tour then they would need to get on with it.

“Well Miss Amata, should we continue on with our tour? We can put the bow back up for now, although I’m afraid we might have a bit of trouble seeing it all if we walk along on two pads instead of four?” he was wondering if she wouldn’t mind roaming around in their more natural forms. It would take some time off their trips from one location to another, but two legs would be fine if she didn’t want to. “Only if you want too, two legs will work if we don’t stay to long at one location.” It really was too much to try and do in one day but he didn’t mind, surely she’d be back and he could show her other places that they didn’t get to see today.

She filled her excitement around her as it bubbled up in her as her last arrow had hit, now she was sure that practice was over and Saluce confirmed it. That was true they were still doing the tour and she did want to see more of the pack lands, at his suggestion she nodded. She was very well at home in her lupine form. She could have changed right there but she didn’t know Saluce’s customs, not to mention they had to put the bow back, but she spoke letting him know her approval.

“Changing would be best, I wouldn’t mind running around in my natural form.”

She said as she held the bow up so that it didn’t drag over the ground and moved back over to the workshop. It would be nice not having to worry about her hair any, as it would be almost non existant in her wolf form. And she wanted to see how fast this man could run. Amata was a very quick and agile runner, and she would be interested to see how he ran too. She smiled to herself as she carefully placed the bow back where he had gotten it

His tail wagged a bit at her acceptance of changing forms. Saluce never got to run and play and allow his more childish side out, normally it was only reserved for that form. He bristled with energy as he watched her and he called out to her before she entered.

“You can change in there if you’d like, I’ll change out here,” it was his only piece of reasoning he guessed. He didn’t mind to shift in front of others, he had done it many times, but with her it seemed like something to wait for. Something to enjoy when they were that close to be comfortable with each other no matter what form they were in. And as soon as her pristine ivory form disappeared behind the door he fell down to all fours his body wracked with change before finally what was left was a very tall wolf, finely formed for sprinting and power.

Saluce danced around the door, his tail just as fevered as ever wagging behind him waiting to see the angel that was swiftly capturing him in a web of adoration. The behemoth couldn’t remember being this worked up in ages, and he was ready to give her the grand tour.

“I’m ready Amata whenever you are.”

Amata moved quickly, hearing his words and once she put the bow up she changed, her fur defining her more than her hair did, which was now all but gone. She shook her whole body once she was done changing and pranced out of the building, her tail and head held high as she moved past the open door. She nosed it shut, and turned to Saluce, who was already in his four legged form. She had to admit he was not bad looking in either of his forms. She was slender and made for agile running and l;ong doistance sprints. If she were a hunter she would be the one that would start the chase.

“I’m ready when you are!”

she said wagging her tail and waiting for him to start so she could follow.`

Saluce just couldn’t resist it, he saw her petite runner’s body and he wanted to be near her, to touch her. Such a beautiful lady he had with him, and his form moved on auto pilot, greeting her with a lick across the top of her head, and then wagging his tail. Oh how he’d love to continue the naughty thoughts running amok in his head for a moment. But her words brought him back and he danced out away from her in a show of bravado before darting off in the direction of the vineyard. Saluce knew she could probably keep up so he set the pace fast, wanting to play as well as show if she was in the mood for it.

He yipped back at her playfully his four paws digging into earth, spraying it backwards in a dust ball of might.

She giggled at his greeting as she came out of the shop. She could see how well he was at home in his lupine form. She felt the same way, free as a bird. He raced off and Amata was at his heels, She nipped at his hackles before racing ahead only for a few seconds before turning to him with a glint in her eye. She bent playfully her tail sticking up over her head, and waited for him to pass by. She didn’t know the way but she felt playful, something she hadn’t been in such a long time, though she had not been in her wolf form in quite some time too. Her tail wagged as she waited for him.

Saluce didn’t get much rest, or even much time to cleanse his mind from more unclean thoughts before her nips at his heels had him burning a path to the vineyard. The behemoth was running with as much speed as he could without over exerting himself so his eyes flashed in surprise when her form passed his. Saluce wanted to yip at her, or even catch her but his frame just couldn’t attain that sort of speed without tiring him. In a short burst he could easily catch up but this wasn’t a sprint. Finally she seemed to stop, almost taunting him, his blues looked across her mismatched eyes before running up to her.

Originally he had intended to just keep running knowing she would follow but his form slid up to hers and his tongue came rolling out across her face while his tail wagged behind him. Words where something he didn’t vocalize much, feeling it almost a dis-service to the form. He pawed her for a moment before darting off again.

The vineyard was just beyond a tree line and the quickly made it there. His form slowed to a slow walk his tongue rolling out to pant. She was the runner and it was evident already.

Her tail wagged harder as he moved forward, she felt like a puppy again, happy, giddy, curious. He stopped and pawed at her a bit before he darted off again, this time she kept close behind him. She was a good runner, and always kept up with that instinct, but she had her limits and she knew Dahlia was a big territory As they rounded on the vineyard she had to stop to catch her breath, it was an old place, before the humans died she knew it was something they had created, though it was still beautiful even if there were weeds sprouting, it was still a sight to see. She stopped next to Saluce looking at the thickly growing vines, none of them having their fruits yet, but still looking incredibly interesting all the same, she wondered when there would be fruits, she had tasted wine before, though she had to admit she had never had an actual grape before. She looked at Saluce, wordlessly, her own tongue falling out the side of her mouth. Telling him with her face that she liked the view.

His eyes only looked at the cream colored Sadira woman. The Frenchman slowly strode up to her after that look she gave him, his body rubbing against hers. They both seemed extremely versed in communicating with body language alone, and as he stopped next to her, he gave her muzzle a quick lick, before looking out at the vineyards. Saluce’s eyes looked for any visible signs of Nayru and Farore’s work here, he guessed they may not have gotten to the part yet. Finally his eyes looked back over to the lovely she wolf beside him and he yipped at her to follow him.

His form meandered along the rows, taking it slow, so she could take it all in. He stopped from time to time, wagging his tail, letting his icy blue hues look over his once doctor, turned friend, turned definite future love interest with a wolfish grin across his face. Finally though they would reach the main facility, where the wine making process was done at one time, his eyes instantly started noticing the changes made. Nayru had been doing an excellent job and the grapes near the building had been pruned and weeded and the vines looked like they were coming back with vigor.

His nose pushed open the door and he back away to allow her to enter first. Everything seemed simpler now between the two of them. She hadn’t reacted withdrawn to his playful licks and physical contact, he guessed for now it was still best to just keep on the slow path he was on.
