The Names That Define Us

Sorry for the fail-post; my muse blanked out for a moment :X Backdated to May 13th (Nootau: Not Visible)

It was officially three days after the pups birth, and Ralla could not have been happier, if this was possible. Always peaceful in AniWaya, always something good to look forward to, and just when she had thought that it could not have been better, it got so. In a basket heaped with blankets warmed by the fire beneath their tree were the pups which had yet to be officially named; two which were like twins, and a third that was almost like the black sheep. But no matter their looks, Ralla was over-joyous that they were hers and Kemo's, and that Ayasha was to be their older sister. She had a family of her own; something that she had once been barred and forbidden from by her old tribe's customs. But no; in AniWaya, she was free to do it all, and she had, and her heart was so full it was as if the moon had chosen to be always full within it.

With Kemo, she was going to meet Chief Dawali by the Great Fire, where they would then go to Adagio Creek to bathe her pups' heads in the land's water and name them. She and Kemo already had names chosen for them, but she felt as if it would not be right to name them so frivolously. No; they would be named under the ceremony, and would be a part of the tribe just as she and Kemo were. Like other ceremonies, Ralla had painted herself in a crimson paint, and her golden feather remained still in her mane. It, like the crescent moon brand on her forehead, would become a constant as she molded herself into her new roles. Likewise, the pups each had a red dot of paint on their foreheads, which would be washed into the water and then into the land itself, an obscure symbol of unity.

Moon walks. "Moon talks." Moon thinks.

Late but here! Ralla calls for audience if she wants it? :3

For the first time, he had taken a relic for himself. The pelt of the Ookah draped his shoulders and fell graciously downwards, too short to sweep the ground behind his lanky legs. It was warm, but Dawali didn't even grant that thought a split second. It itched, but he didn't mind it. Correcting its buckle-like neck mechanism, he shifted his weight and waited. The Great Fire lit him up and he studied the flickering shadow that was cast next to him by the large beacon. It was a strange thing to wear it, but he had waited long enough. Years of healing others and contributing to the tribe? He had earned this relic, as Liliana and Nayati and Ralla had earned theirs - it was only fair. It was still strange to appoint himself, though, and he had held no ceremony.

Now, he did not don any of his usual ceremonial dress - just the pelt. When Ralla and Kemo and the children arrived, he said little, but waved his hand at them to follow. She was painted in crimsons, and the Chief smiled warmly at her, nodding at Kemo. The male was reserved, but Dawali knew Ralla would not make foolish mistakes when choosing a mate. The pups were painted too, but though he wanted to look at them, he did not. There would be plenty of time for this later; now, his job was to welcome them to the world, as Master Priest of AniWaya. The title stretched his back so it was properly straight and his legs and cane moved with authority and certainty as they closed in on Adagio Creek.

They reached the water, and he turned to the couple, asking in a low, serious voice. "Are we ready?". It was their choice if they wanted on-lookers, and if so - this was the time to call for them. Meanwhile, Dawali would take a few moments to further ready himself for the ceremony he was about to conduct. He'd never done it before, and it was important not to get it wrong.

Nah, let's keep it nice and simple -w- She'll introduce all the pups in different threads :3 (Note: If there's anything wonky with this post I apologize; it's late and I'm tired and I may not know if I missed anything/wrote something odd @.@)

As Ralla saw Chief Dawali from the distance, she noticed how he had donned another relic of the tribe, and she had to say that it suited him. The gentle man, she knew, enjoyed the healing arts, and the ensemble seemed to just fit his personality all the more for the fact of the relic's use and owner. Smiling broadly to the chief, she followed him as they went, silent in respect for the ceremony, knowing that she would have time to share the little ones with her father-figure in time.

The soft burbling of the creek was beautiful in the dusk, when the moon was rising prematurely and shining in a yet-blue sky. Kemo walked protectively next to her, eyes not looking, but arm left around her midsection in love and pride. Always so eccentric and straightforward, Ralla balanced him as much as he balanced her; he brought out the will and fun in her--he made her laugh and smile so vividly that she could not remember. The water gleamed as it flowed, and as the couple stopped behind their chief, he spoke to them, and they knew it was time. Nodding, Ralla held the basket out a little and took away a fold of the blanket, showing Chief Dawali the little ones and giving him a look as if to say 'Can you believe it?' She wondered if all mothers were this proud and incredulous, or if she was just strange. Nevertheless, those same feelings were brimming on the cup of her heart, and she did nothing to restrain them. She knew that they had the choice of calling the tribe to witness the naming, but Ralla wanted it to be a small ceremony, and she would introduce the little ones to the tribe as time passed. Another reason was she felt like she had drawn far too much attention to herself as of late anyway, what with the advancement to Eitkaiele Gata and Councilwoman. No, this would be a small affair, and still all the more memorable for the souls attending. Shaking her head, she awaited her chief's next move.
