It was a big step for him to move away from his hometown. He already felt nervous around most people there, why would it be any different here? He did not know what wolves were like in Nova Scotia. Maybe everyone already knew each other here and he would not be accepted. What did he know? He was already a bit of a failure anyhow. He was thin and weak. He was not fierce at all. What if they ever needed him in a fight? What if they needed him to hunt food? Oh god, he was miserable.

Ash found himself wandering in an open field, trying to avoid others. The trees were sparse here, it must have been clear cut at one point. The grass was tall, but thin, as if planted once. Of course, it was incredibly overgrown and felt a bit like marching through a jungle to walk through it. But Ash was taller than the grass, and managed. At the end of the clearing was a small, white building with a narrow steeple on top. A church. The windows were broken and it was in desperate need of a paint job, but it was still as much of a church as it would have been when it was new.

Interested, he stepped inside. The first thing he noticed was the glass on the floor. He scooted it away from him with a swift kick of his foot, careful not to stab himself in the meantime. Grass was growing out of the cracks in the ground, and vines were climbing through the windows. There was a stained glass window at the back of the church with a yellow cross in the center. There was a hole in the corner, but for the most part it was still intact. Ash walked through the aisles and knelt before the molding podium. He had not prayed in a long time, but if he could have any help from above, this would be a good time for it.

I'm pretty sure if I don't get a puppy that I'm gonna get Adrian a separate account so you can have a thread without Liya. LOL

It had taken possibly longer to get back from Drifter Bay than it had to get there in the first place. Iliya was now exhausted, so Adrian was forced to carry his poor lazy butt the majority of the way back. Which was okay, it helped him get more in shape for the building in the future. He felt so useful here it was crazy, and already had a sense of pride about being a member of Dahlia, where he'd be very useful and needed and wanted. Instead of just sitting alone, only ever interacting with his little boy and just... not doing anything. Already he felt healthier, and that was just the sense of being in this pack and not just because he'd taken the journey to he Bay and back.

He took a break as soon as they got passed Dahlia borders, where Iliya just simply crashed and Adrian just relaxed in the grass with Liya spooning his side sweetly. He felt so refreshed. He felt ready to tackle rebuilding things and stuff. Oh, he was excited to get to work. He loved work, whether it was building or hunting. The harder it was the more he seemed to enjoy it. He was the essence of a hard worker; you would never see him slacking off on the job or taking easy ways out or bullshitting anything. He liked to think he always did a good job, and the huge blonde optime had a ton of pride in his work.

After a couple hours nap, Liya was feeling better and was even able to walk around himself. Although he adored being carried, because he was special and it made him feel special and loved, and Adrian easily carried him and he just felt so safe in those arms. Big strong arms. So it was normally very hard for the young Russo to resist begging for a ride, but since Adrian had carried him for so long the past several days, he thought he'd give him a much needed break. The two of them headed toward the same church that one of the newest members had just wandered into.

Neither of them spotted the young man going in, but the realized they had company as soon as they entered the building. Of course, Iliya ran to go meet him, causing Adrian to tense and nearly yell at him. "Liya! Don't run, watch out for the glass!" he said worriedly, unconcerned with possibly scaring the God out of Ash. Liya didn't listen, though, and basically right after he was reprimanded, he was right by Ash. He had no sense of religion whereas Adrian did, and the blonde male cringed as Liya jumped up and basically hugged the poor white wolf from the side, wrapping his long, gangly wolflegs around his neck and licking his cheek. He was also very good at greeting people properly and not in some weird way.

He had almost forgotten how to pray. He had stopped doing it a long time ago, when he was just a pup. Most children went to church and prayed only because they had to. Ash actually liked it. He had absolutely believed in God as a kid, and really wanted to be good. He wanted to be like the angels in heaven, and help others. But naturally, he got teased mercilessly for it. He had to lie and say he only went to church because his mom made him too. From then on he had been too embarrassed to pray, even on his own time. But now he was an adult and nobody was here to judge him. Besides, he was afraid, and he had no one else to turn to.

Ash yelped and jumped at the sound of a man's voice behind him. He nearly fell on his face, but he was able to catch himself by pushing his hands out in front of him. Everything would have been fine if "Liya" had not tackled the poor, unsuspecting soul. His fur stood on end when what felt like a spider monkey launched onto his back. He felt it's probing tentacle poke his cheek, possibly looking for a place to stab him and inject poison. The white wolf shivered and looked slowly to his side. Did he really want to see his murderer? Maybe his last moments would be more peaceful if he didn't have to face him.

Instead of a vicious killer (or spider monkey), he was faced with a pair of big, round, baby blues. Ashbrooke still looked like someone had flashed him, but he started to relax. It was just some kid. He sighed nervously and gave a weak smile. "Hey." Feeling more confident, he turned slowly to look behind him. There had been someone else, right? The other wolf was much larger, and in Optime form. It would normally have made Ash feel more comfortable, but he looked so big and imposing. He was like a fox on steroids. He felt his cheeks burn in embarrassment, suddenly feeling like he had done something wrong. "Um, is this yours?" he asked, waving the arm that was now trapped by a small, grey boy.

That poor young girl definitely acted like Iliya startled them, but she quickly relaxed. Adrian made his way over, and when he was close enough to hear the question, he was quickly corrected about his assumption of the other's gender: oh, he was a boy. Okay. He was embarrassed for thinking he was a chick at first, but he was very effeminate, and Adrian's manly self would have no problem letting him know he makes a very pretty guy. Because he certainly was, and the large Russian was having a guy crush on the stranger already. Just because he was so feminine. Adrian raised a hand to nervously rub the back of his head, like ... well, almost exactly like some guy trying to talk to a hot chick. "Y-yeah. That's Iliya... he likes meeting others." And licking heir faces like some kinda dog. But as a wolf, and a puppy at that, it wasn't like it could be considered too creepy.

The large optime was fumbling already with what to talk about. If he hadn't been so flustered by Ash, he actually would've been pretty offended by his "is this yours?" question, because it was rude and Iliya was a boy, and not a possession or a pet. But he didn't even think of that because he was too busy thinking about how cute Ash was. This male. This man. This other being with a penis and balls. He never considered himself gay-- he was attracted to females, not guys. But apparently he was attracted to completely flaming, feminine guys that he mistook as a female to begin with.

"Um, so, like..." he started stupidly, moving his hand to rub and play with his cheek fur. Iliya was very tuned to Adrian's feelings and emotions(and probably would be the only person he was empathetic with), so he honed right in on the nervousness. He quickly got off Ash because he was suddenly freaked out by how his guardian and father was reacting. Was something wrong? He concernedly hopped up on Adrian's leg, pawing at his waste as if to silently ask what was wrong. "I'm alright, Liya," he said more confidently to the boy before he turned his attention back to Ash and promptly began floundering again.

"You're religious?" he finally asked. He felt it was a stupid question. Liya continued to paw worriedly at the huge male, who stood towering above both of them.

The other guy seemed nervous. Adrian laughed, but it was not a cruel laugh. It was a laugh more at himself for being so intimidated by a man who was just as nervous as he was, apparently. He smiled brightly and turned away from the gold and white optime and turned to Iliya. "Hi," he gushed. Now that he knew the kid had a name and wasn't trying to hurt him, he was perfectly friendly. Pups didn't scare him. Although they could be cruel too, he found that usually it took longer for the world to corrupt a soul. Ashbrooke's ears flipped forward in surprise and interest at the other guy's stumbling. Did he not know English? Maybe he really was still nervous about something. Ash figured it was Iliya. Maybe he was still embarrassed that the kid had pounced on a stranger. He felt sorry for the both of them. He was just jumpy was all, no harm no foul.

Perhaps something really was going on, as the child let go of him then. Did Iliya know something Ash didn't? Probably. He worried. He hoped they were ok. So far the both of them seemed kind enough, and that was all he really asked for. He crossed his hands and put them in his lap as he let the boy go. He hoped he hadn't chased him off. Ash watched Iliya pester the older male, whose name he still didn't know. He seemed just as worried as Ash was. Not that he should be so worried. He didn't have the right yet, he didn't know this guy. No, no he should only be allowed to worry if the stranger wanted him to. He needed some sort of permission. But that was a weird think to ask, wasn't it?

He smiled again at the optime's question, not thinking it was stupid at all. He stood up, brushing any dirt off of his pants, and looked up again. He had not realized just how tall the guy was until he was standing too. He felt tiny. Under that mess of brown hair, he saw a pair of unusual eyes. And, instead of having the immature reaction most male youth would, he liked them. He did not think them feminine at all. "Not especially," he admitted with a shrug. The luperci felt embarrassed already. What if the stranger was a fanatic, and he had just ruined all chances of befriending him and the kid? Oh, he hoped not. "I've just been kinda nervous lately, so I was looking for help anywhere I could get it, I guess." Another nervous laugh. He mimicked the taller male's scratch at the back of his neck without realizing it.

Oh, geez. He was already talking about himself but he hadn't even said his name. He was really screwing this up. "Ah! My name is Ashbrooke Ardes. I'm new here." His sudden realization at his failure caused him to move faster than normal, and he nearly tripped as he walked forward. His arm reached out for a handshake, but now it was looking for a place to steady himself. "Um. You can..call me Ash," he mumbled under his breath. Oh god, he was screwing everything up. He was going to say hi to Iliya too, but now he was too embarrassed and stuck on his introduction with nameless man.

Adrian felt so weird. This had never happened before-- not even with a pretty girl. He guessed he'd never really had the chance to flirt, or have crushes. He was a hard worker, so he had focused almost purely on that when he was at home. Maybe he missed many, many signals and hints. He wouldn't be surprised. And then when he moved away, he had Liya so that left no room for dating. Little Liya took all his attention and love. Now that he was getting older, he was relaxing, and now that he didn't really have a job... he didn't have that to focus on. He never figured himself the time to get all anxious and fidgety and turn into the guy who'll fiddle with anything as he's trying to talk and not mess up. Except he didn't even have a shirt, or pants, to fiddle with right now-- he'd brought clothes in a couple bags, but he'd left them for their trip to Drifter Bay.

This was just... not right. It was so unlike the Russian man to be so... boyish. So nervous, and flustered. He was normally cool and calm and level-headed in most situations(unless you threaten Liya-- then he'd end you without hesitation). Maybe... maybe there was just something wrong with his hormones. Or something. There had to be some excuse for this weird behavior. And Ash was acting nervous too, but not in the same way-- at least not to Adrian. Adrian felt like it was completely obvious that he was literally almost fawning over him and he was nervous because he was getting some kind of invisible boner for him. After like, two seconds of knowing him. Iliya continued to just pester him until Adrian patted him down and shifted his weight from one let to the other nervously, his tail taking up some nervous action all it's own and twitching awkwardly behind him.

He began fiddling with his fingers, glancing down at them before returning his pinkish gaze to the lithe male. He knew religion, and understood it, but didn't find himself religious in the least. Why did he ask that? He couldn't even respond in a smart way, like "Oh, I'm semi-religious myself!" No, instead he stood there literally twiddling his thumbs before he figured that was too obvious a nervous reaction and began rubbing his arm instead. Because that was much more subtle and casual. As he awkward glanced around, trying not to look at the really feminine male. Iliya was freaking out and nibbled his tail stubbornly, pulling back on him and whining a little. "Liya, I'm okay," he said, again he was casual and calm talking to him, but when it came time for him to turn his attention back to Ash, he got all nervous again.

Adrian didn't get a chance to respond about his stupid religious question before the young guy took a step forward as he introduced himself. Ashbrooke. Oh god, he even had a gorgeous, feminine name. Invisible boner boost. Ash came forward quickly, tripping nervously; Adrian caught him as he came forward, not wanting him to fall down onto something that could hurt him. In the process, he felt Ash's hands brace himself against his stomach and he reached out and grabbed his arms to make sure he didn't go tumbling. But he was instantly incredibly flustered; visibly so, even. His furry cheeks puffed out and the fur on his neck and chest puffed out in a clearly not aggressive way, but he didn't just rip himself away from Ash. He wanted to make sure he wasn't going to fall and wasn't willing to cause it to happen by backing away now, and making the situation more awkward and embarrassing. Instead of doing that, he tried to speak casually like he wasn't puffed up like some.... fluffy thing that was embarrassed.

"I'm, ah... Adrian..." he trailed off painfully. He tried not to let some awkward silence grip them again and introduced Iliya while he was at it. "And this is Iliya." Who had placed himself weirdly between the two's legs, like some jealous dog who forced his way between two people who were hugging because he wanted to be a part of it, too. His tail was wagging and he looked up at the two of them with a grin on his face. Adrian was acting so weird, but he was obviously not gonna tell him what was wrong, so he stopped bugging the huge man. "Um... you okay?" He finally asked. This hurt so good.

He started to fall, and expected to slip and land on the floor. But instead, instinct had pushed his hands forward to grab for anything at all. And, of course, the only thing to grab onto was the man in front of him. When his hands hit the stranger's firm torso, the first feeling that hit him was relief. He had not fallen on his face. Now he was only mostly a fool, not a complete one. It took a split second before the realization hit him that he was touching someone he didn't even know. He had just reached out and grabbed someone. True, the guy's abs were good for pressing one's hands against, but Ash wasn't out looking for nice abs to grab. He only felt worse when the guy reached out and steadied Ash further by grabbing his arms. His grasp was so strong, he felt like a pup in comparison. He looked down at his trapped arms, noticing how slender they were in comparison to the tensed forearms of the stranger. This guy could really hurt him if he pissed him off, couldn't he?

But that was not his concern. His concern was that he looked like a complete ass and had just ruined everything. If Ash could have expressed his emotions physically, he would have screamed and flailed. But, seeing as that was too freaky even for him, he simply froze. When he started to worry that he was lingering too long in the stranger's grasp, he took a quick step back and withdrew his arms with the speed of a spitting cobra. He even gave an involuntary apologetic bow, as if he were Japanese. What was that? Since when was he Asian? Ah, he was just so nervous. "Ah..I uh..sorry. Thank you." His own cheeks were fluffed up, making his face look a bit like a furry snowball. In his own embarrassment, he was unable to see the damage he had done to the other.

His right hand reached out to grasp the wrist of his left arm, which was placed firmly against his side. "Nice to meet you two," he said with another little bow of his head. Gosh, that was so dorky. He really had to stop that. Ash looked down to find Iliya positioning himself between them. He didn't look upset, so he guessed that was a good sign. He smiled at the kid before looking up to his..brother? Father? He didn't know how they were related. His smile faded and was replaced with a look of horrified worry at his question. Oh no, he had bothered him, hadn't he? He saw now the uncomfortable expression on Adrian's face, and he felt awful about it. "Oh, yeah, yeah I'm fine. Thanks." His words came out quickly and jumbled, and he looked down at his feet, wringing his hands from anxiety.

He bit his lip nervously, wondering if it would be too creepy to just run past the two of them and hide in the woods. Yes, it probably would be. Besides, they had been nice to him so far. He felt too guilty about ditching them after that. Ash forced himself to look up again, and gave another smile. "Um. Maybe we could look around and see if there's anything worthwhile left around here." The broken glass was just around the windows, so he figured it would be safe enough for Iliya too.
