Thick chalk marks didnt exactly do a lot against the grass. He'd managed to clear away a lot of the lush grass but it didnt so a lot against the newer shoots coming through. In the distance he could see the cabin, the labour of love that was getting better as he learnt more and more. There was no way the young male could be called an expert, but building his own house and the wood carving Shawchert had taught him were beginning to come together. The more he practised, the better he became. He remembered the crudely made bear he'd given Gideon, the imperfect rabbit he'd given to Ascher and the slightly better eagle he had given Shiloh. Each were to remember a different time he had spent with his siblings- the terrifying bear that had chased Gideon and Saul to the beach, the rabbits he and Ascher had hunted in the graveyard, the soaring eagle he and Shiloh had spied high above the harbor. He'd come a long way since then, despite spending little time focussing on what he was making.

His tongue stuck out in avid concentration as he looked at the large area of ground he'd marked. Since Mars' arrival and the subsequent increase in horses in Dahlia, the agouti male had decided to get another of his plans underway. It was the first day of summer and while there were only a few months in Nova Scotia that could be considered hot, it was beginning to warm in the pack lands. Not foundations had been laid yet, but it was clear the male had plans for big stables here. A paddock could be fenced in a little way away, or the animals could roam the flat grasslands out by the river. He'd decided to build them close to him home, although not intrusively close. It would be nice to look out the window and see horses roaming around in the back yard. Dressed in just some shorts, it was clear just how much the male had grown up, muscles tracing down his shoulders and arms, making their way to his abdomen where they were becoming much more obvious. Standing tall now, the male allowed his head to swing round and glance back towards Wolfville. Things were changing, he could taste it.

Wiping his hand againt his brow Saul moved towards the river. Creamy white arms leant down to scoop up some river water and the healer took a deep drink, dipping the water-darkened cream paw in again and again until he was satisfied. Cropped brunette hair was flicked from his face and he made a note to ask Siku to cut it again. He was getting used to the hair being around his face, and he should really have it shorter. He straightened once more, trying to deside whether they needed more stable than those he'd already marked out. This was going to be a big project that was likely to last the entirety of the summer.

Hope this makes sense; I usually assume a river is deep enough to wade in.
WORD COUNT→ 384

She knew that it was wiser for her to remain in the shared house within rundown Berwick with the newborn puppies, but the tan-and-white mutt found herself unable. It wasn't that Amon and Paz were unloved — her belief in the months before that she would be unable to love the children had been entirely false — it was simply that she was not a sedentary creature. Krystalle Horzana had always been a woman full of energy, a woman who loved the outdoors and who found no use for a true home apart from a steady place to sleep each night. That was why she had decided to take a walk. Weary as she was, she mounted the gentle paint mare and bolted off into the depths of Dahlia de Mai; should the puppies have any trouble, she was sure their father would be more than capable of caring for them, and she wouldn't be gone long.

The first thing that the woman desired to accomplish was a bath. Unlike many of the Luperci she had known in her lifetime, Krystalle like to think she was very clean, and took pains to maintain her appearance as best she could. Senorita was allowed to lead, requiring only mild direction from her master and friend as the Horzana female sought out the river that she and Mars had camped near while he was searching for their own little place in the pack. With the help of Senorita, it didn't take long to find, and she dismounted as soon as the painted mare's hoofs hit the soft earth of the bank. Pale pink eyes glanced about, at first not noticing the young man who had greeted them at the borders; it only took a moment before the sight of him was caught, startling the woman, who promptly fell off-balance in a shocked twist of her body that landed her in the water of the river.

A long string of Spanish curses emanated from the surface of the water as she returned to the air, doggish body dragged back onto the bank with strong arms. The messy mop of longer mane flopped unpleasantly over her face. "Gugh; not a good day for swimming," she muttered. Senorita sniggered, perhaps in amusement, before trotting off in the direction of the Stormbringer male.

He was so immersed in the imaginary land that gave him a perfect three dimensional veiw of the stables that would be here in the end of summer, that he missed the hoofbeats and the eventual pad of paws on the soft grass. He could see it very clearly in his mind, two rows of stables that faced each other and allowed the horses to look at one amother. The stables would be made of dark would, with a lighter ash for any finishings like door trimmings and any decoration the Stormbringer could think of to throw at the place. There would be a paddock made of the same dark wood where training could commense. But other than that, the horses would be allowed to roam around the plains near the stables, feeding and drinking from the river whenever they pleased. He could imagine teaching Wretch how to ride, or in fact learning how to better ride himself. His first attempt had been a little disasterous and he hadnt seen Lilliana since to get more lessons. His whole imaginary stables however, was shattered as a body hit the water.

Saul moved immediately towards the river, but stepped back with a soft smile as Krystalle clambered ashore. He immediately glanced towards her stomach and was surprised to see it much flatter, although still a little stretched. She'd had her pups then. Perhaps Saul should check them out to make sure they were okay. He stopped the thought as Krystalle straightened, her thickly accented voice that had, just a few moments ago, been fluently spouting words in spanish, coming through in english this time. He glanced towards the sky, the thick clouds making it impossible to call it a sunny day despite the lack of rain. The healer gave a soft chuckle as he moved back and out of the way.

"Its not quite warm enough to go swimming yet..." Although Saul was the avid believer of having a bath every day and had spent at least three whole months collectively within the depths of the stream and river, cleaning himself. "How are you Krys? Settling in well?" He asked, although he did really want to ask about the pups, he remained quiet. He was sure she would bring it up if she wanted to speak on it.

Eugh. Is short. Sorries.

She spit water from her mouth, the water that had not yet been warmed by the sun of Summer chilling the bones of the thin-furred woman. The Latin grimaced. Oh, she was not fond of this Nova Scotian world, this place she'd followed Mars to. If she'd only stayed in the desert. It was warm in the desert. It was warm in all of the places she'd traveled to before, but Mars had to drag her to this frigid world on the other side of her comfort zone.

The younger male, naturally, noticed as she came back to shore. As he chuckled, she looked towards him, wringing out the longer fur atop her head. He was right. It wasn't warm, not warm at all. "Don' seem like this place is ever warm. Rains too much, 'n there's that white stuff durin' the cold season." Her displeasure coated her rough words as white-tipped hands attempted to rid her tan fur from the clinging dampness. She couldn't go home to her children wet; sure, she had no knowledge of how to take care of puppies, but she assumed that a chill like hers would not be beneficial to their smaller bodies. The topic was changed to her welfare as Saul asked if she'd settled in — a simple nod was given in quick response before she opened her mouth. "Yeah, me 'n Mars, we found a place. He found it, guess I should say. Wasn' really big on wanderin' 'round for a while." Her words were followed with a flighty laugh and vibrant smile, things not seen frequently during the months of her time in Cercatori d'Arte. She rubbed at one elbow. "He's good for that. 'n you? We didn' really get ta talk much when I got here; wasn' really in a talkin' mood."

The thin furred dog female didnt appear to be too happy about slipping into the water. Of course, Saul didnt understand this- the male spent a good portion of his morning in the stream by the house, making sure he was clean before he started the day. He'd even braved the Nova Scotian winters and bathed then, although that had been a very rushed affair with much teeth chattering. The grimace on the pink-eyed lady's face was just a little comical and Saul gave a soft, good natured snort. She was a nice woman, even if a little blunt when he'd first met her. But it was clear the reason for her bluntness then- she was just about ready to drop. And he meant literally, as it seemed she had dropped on Dahlia soil. It didnt both him, but he wasnt sure if Nayru was aware the small family were even here, let alone that a litter of puppies had been born on her soil. Cinnamon backed ears perked as her accent came through.

"Summer's good- although we do seem to get a lot of summer storms. And snow? Its a nuisance for sure... the blizzard did a lot of damage in Dahlia."

He thought of the Victorian house, smashed down the front by the tall tree that had once stood so proud outside. He thought of Saluce, his shop burnt to the ground and without his memory. He suffered from seizures now because of it, and Saul wasnt sure what to do for him. He thought of Conor, gone so quickly after the distruction. He thought of Bris and Eclipse, perhaps they had followed him. But whatever had happened, there was always a good side to the coin that had dealt them such bad luck. There was always a phoenix that arose from the ashes of destruction. She tried to rid her fur of the excess water, although the afternoon heat was sure to dry her. She spoke again and Saul smiled.

"I can imagine- you looked just about ready to pop. I hope you found a house that wasnt so damaged by the storm. We're working to fix them up, but we cant do all of them."

He explained, thinking on the amount of work they had to do this summer. It was so much, but the agouti male was more than happy to do it. His cinnamon ears pinned back as she gave a laugh and another stream of words came forward. He nodded immediately before speaking.

"Yeah, I'm doing alright. Trying to figure out the foundations for the stables I plan to build. And yeah, you'd had a long journey though and you needed to rest."

He answered, running a hand through thickly mopped brunette hair. His hair was never sure what was going and it never really had a defined style. It was just a pile of difficult hair that had no use to him.

Ack! Short. T_T

It seemed everyone had suffered the effects of the snowstorm, which she'd expected, as Cercatori had not fared well from her knowledge. She shuddered at the memories of being snowed in inside of a cave. She rubbed at her eyes while Saul continued to speak, stub of a tail wiggling a few times as her body followed suit; she aimed to shake the water from her thin-but-long coat. White-tipped hands reached up to wring out floppy ears while the male continued to speak. Her smile widened. "He found 'n okay place, ch'know? He's good fer that." Mars had indeed found something that wasn't entirely ruined; it had enough space for her and the kids, and for him and his...personality. She hefted a small sigh as it moved into her attitude; he seemed to understand the situation, but she didn't see it as an excuse.

"Really wasn' that bad; shoulda been nicer, prolly. Dunno. 's weird to talk 'bout." Her arms crossed uncomfortably over her chest as she explained herself further, trying to apologize without truly apologizing, for it wasn't in her nature to feel guilty for the way she'd acted in the past. Krystalle was nothing if set in her ways, though it wasn't always the best way to be. "Shouldn'a been rude. Ch'know?" Pale pink eyes focused on the man with some sort of apologetic under look behind the irises.
