Myself & I

There wasn't a single sign of him at all. For weeks upon weeks the girl had devoted the majority of her day to hunting for her brother, searching here and there, and even going as far as climbing to the top of the mountain in hopes of finding him, or even his body. No matter where she looked, there was no sign of him, not a single trace of scent that he'd been anywhere near. Her father's words had almost been comforting at first, assuring her that her brother would return and find her, but after so long Rachias was beginning to doubt it. He was dead. Dead and not coming back. Why was Arkham dead though? Because of Gabriel. Because her older sibling saw fit to leave him behind and keep her from going back to find him. If it weren't for Gabriel, Arkham might be alive and well.

The young hybrid brooded over that fact often, wondering if Gabriel even thought about Arkham at all since they had arrived. Certainly not, all he seemed to care about right now was power. That was simply a guess though, because Rachias had been keeping herself distant from the rest of them since their arrival. Not even Faolin could fix her problems anymore. Keeping to herself, as usual, Rachias settled in the entrance of one of the many caves within Inferni, removing herself from the beating sun of the evening to remain lingering in the shadows for the rest of the day. At least, that was the plan.

Hope you don't mind me hopping in. Smile

A mighty yawn erupted from his jaws, arms flying up to reach towards the sun as he stretched, listening to his back pop and crack as all the kinks were chased away. Perhaps, he thought as he closed his jaws with a snap, it would do him well to fall asleep in normal positions. Better yet, chose to sleep in his den where his blanket and dried grass provided a thick cushion on which to dream. Kanoe blinked the sleep out of his pale eyes, looking up through the branches of the tree then out towards the caves that led into said den area. Oh, that's right, he'd fallen asleep in the ragged old tree to hide from the ruthless rays of the noon-time sun. Kanoe flicked an ear, grinning to himself as he slid down to the ground with the grace of a feline. Okay, well maybe he wasn't so victimized but a nap had sounded so good at the time.

Drawing the edges of the shawl around his shoulders, he looked down to adjust the leather thong around his waist that had been shifted during his nap. The beads on the satchel clicked against one another in mock protest as he swung it to rest on his hip once more. Satisfied with his handy-work, he took off towards the caves and, subsequently, his den to deposit the scarce herbs he'd collected during his outing. What he found, however, surprised him. Having not seen much of the Inferni (his clan, he reminded himself), it was surprising to see one of them lounging about in the shadows of the threshold of the main caves. Regarding her with a curious gaze, he lowered his ears and eyes out of respect as he approached, noting the trouble that drew dark lines across her face. The storm that clouds you is a heavy one, He observed, tone soft and voice still dusty from lack of use. Care to share your troubles, señora? The question was ended with a meaningful slip of tongue, hoping to console the younger female.

I most certainly do not mind. Big Grin

Often, when the night was dark and quiet, Rachias was convinced that she could see her brother lurking in the shadows. This was not a welcome thing, either, as she knew beyond anything that he wasn't actually there. Was it supposed to be some kind of terrible sign? Was he a ghost come to watch over her, trying to tell her that he was no longer living? Whatever the case, she wasn't entirely certain what to think other than knowing she didn't like it. Normally the young hybrid was tired, going long stretches of time without any consistent sleep, and the previous night had been no different. Yawning, she lifted and arm to rub idly at one eye, a failed attempt to bring life back to her dull blue gaze.

When she finally dropped her hand back toward her lap she discovered that the scenery had suddenly changed or, at the very least, had been interrupted. A coyote, quite obviously, but a rather odd looking one. She hadn't seen many others wandering around that wore things like he seemed to be, nor had she any idea of the odd colors that marked his face. He spoke and Rachias' ears jumped to attention, reaching for his words, brows lifting slightly as she watched him. "Family troubles." She said quietly in return, frowning. It was funny, really, that a complete stranger would be the one to want to hear her troubles and not her family, the family that already knew that something was bothering her. "My brother is missing."
