Big Grin He's somewhere along the borders facing AniWaya. 300+

Kansas' pale eyes blinked open to bright sunlight that flooded across the porch in a faint golden beam. His nose rested against the pages of an open book, yet he was in his lupus form. He faintly remembered shifting right before falling into a long and restful nap, which he had done before, as if his body knew it would gain better rest in its most comfortable form. The blazing afternoon sun had awakened him - he had begun to read in the morning, when the porch was still completely cast in shadow. Now the best part of the day was gone, and to make matters worse, he would be awake late tonight again. The pattern continued.

His jaws stretched into a wide yawn and he glanced wearily at the book. It was a book of poetry by Edgar Allen Poe and one of his most prized possessions, but luckily the pages were just slightly wrinkled by the weight of his face. He tenderly nosed the book against the edge of the manor wall - passersby would know it was his and would not disturb it, and it would be safe from possible rain (though with the sky as clear as it was, he doubted it was in danger of the weather).

Kansas stepped toward the edge of the porch and paused, a low growl for only himself rumbling in his throat. He had discouraged himself once again with his ridiculous sleeping patterns, and the only way he saw to correct it at this point was to move. He took the porch in a leap and headed southwest at a swift pace, through the gardens flourishing with color, past bright green fields that rose and fell with the land and into the tangle of forest. It was the hottest part of the day, and before long the slender wolf was panting heavily despite the shade of the dense canopy above. His body was screaming for rest, but he merely slowed his pace, continuing along the invisible boundary on a lackadaisical patrol. Only when he reached a whispering stream did he pause, lowering his maw to the frigid water for a long and sloppy drink.

Do you think we could date this to June 20th so it's after my thread with Silvano? / Word Count: 512 (5 points)

After all the days Songan had spent working on his crafts, it was nice to have a day just to relax and forget about things. He was done with one project and would now have to work on his next one. He had enough leather to make the hammocks that Ralla needed, but there didn’t seem to be any rush to get them done, not to mention that it was a simple project and would be done in a few days. The red wolf yawned as he stretched out his limbs and sat up on his bed of pelt. He gazed over to the she coyote still sleeping next to him. It was nice to see Sanuye in such a peaceful state. He slipped out as he went to the creek, cleaning off his face and waking himself up a bit. He didn’t want to sleep all day. Perhaps he would be able to use this day to get to know the area a bit more and see the other packs in the area. He stood and began to head down the river again towards the area where he had met the young wolf Silvano. Perhaps he would be able to explore around that area a bit more.

The red wolf looked around the trees as he began to head out of the borders to AniWaya. He remembered the area he had come to. He looked along the trees as he placed his hands on them. It was nice to feel the shade again even if it was the hottest part of the day. He didn’t like wandering around in the heat so it was also nice to be near the water in case it got too hot for him. Perhaps on his way home he would be able to take a break and go swimming before night settled in. He was sure he would be able to tell Sanuye of his day, as he seemed to always do when he was out. The thoughts of the young she coyote made him smile and he continued on his walk, passing by the end of the river and heading towards the unknown.

Songan stopped when he caught the scent of something new. He remembered this just as he was visiting along the Cour des Miracles borders. Perhaps this was the beginning area of another pack. The male looked over as he noticed someone moving along the borders. It was a white wolf who seemed to be moving a bit slow. He wondered why he wasn’t so lively about moving along the borders. He waited until the other male came closer before smiling and standing up tall. “Greetings wolf. I assume these are the borders to a pack right? What pack have I come across?” ” The rust wolf moved his arms behind his back as he waited for a response. He was a patient wolf and swayed his tail gently back and forth. He began to fix the beads in his hair and tightened up the feathers hanging from the side.

Of course! 300+

The water cooled his entire body, renewing his strength. He loved the feel of a long drink after a run on a hot summer day like this; the last time he experienced it had to have been during the summer of last year. It was strange that so much time had passed since he had enjoyed such a simple pleasure, but as he lifted his crown from the stream, water dripping from his muzzle, he felt encouraged. At least today he had taken some initiative. Perhaps it was the beginning of a change, as if he had sunk to the bottom, and there was nowhere else to go but up. He felt an urge to turn back and find one of his kids to take along with him, or hell, all of them, and they would romp through the forest like they had once upon a time. But in his mental absence he had created a distance that could only be closed slowly, and he feared that they would not take well to a sudden invitation. He was deeply paranoid, of his own doing, but regardless, the cream-tinted wolf did not turn back.

Instead, he continued his slow walk along the borders, his senses alert on the off chance that someone strange would happen upon his homeland. To his utter bewilderment, that was exactly what occured, for he was approached by a rather striking individual, a small, rust-colored werewolf with beads and feathers woven artfully into his mane. Kansas immediately thought of AniWaya, the tribal pack into which he had just recently ventured with Silvano. The memory of that day brought warmth into his heart, and he faced the stranger with a smile that was part greeting, and part internal nostalgia.

H-hey, he spoke, his tail beginning to wave slowly at his heels. The stranger was respectful, fortunately, posing no threat. Kansas was still slightly surprised, and therefore did not return the formality - in fact, in his current state of mind he found the other's greeting humorous, unable to recall ever being referred to as simply "wolf." He had not encountered a stranger in a long while, either, which complimented his awkward demeanor nicely. Yeah, you're correct. This, eh, is Crimson Dreams. He was happy to introduce an explorer to the home he so adored. I'm Kansas Sadira, Praefectus. Er... You want to look around?

As Songan began to head outside of the borders, he took a look at his arm. He remembered how much it was burning the other day, though it seemed to be doing much better today. It was not as red either, so he was sure in a few days the mark from it would be gone. He hadn’t forgotten that he would need to make a wrist guard for Saxif, so he had left out some leather and string at home to begin working on it once he was done with his relaxing day. The male closed his eyes as he wandered through the woods. This was not a new sight to him seeing as his home was near the woods anyways. He followed the path he had taken before until he came back to the river. He paused on the bank as he looked around and remembered the other day where he had met Silvano. It was nice to recall to days he had recently had and meeting other wolves in the area. He then turned up the river and swayed his tail as he moved along. He feel the dirt and grass in between his paws as he walked towards the unknown.

The rust wolf waited at the borders for someone to come. He lowered himself and crossed his legs as he leaned against a tree. He began to mess around with the beads in his hair as he waited for someone to come. He soon paused and looked up to the top of the trees. It was a nice view from here and it felt like the rays of sun beamed down to his soul. The glow of the sun gave the image of his tan fur looking like a bright fire. He stretched out his arms as he scratched his head.

Songan rose to his feet as the wolf came by and greeted him. He was not sure what was with the wolves around here being a bit nervous. Silvano was a bit like this too, but then again he accidently spooked when they met. As for the address that the red wolf had given, he was not exactly sure how to address this wolf seeing as he was not a member here. Perhaps it would have been better to spend a bit of time thinking of a better way to address the white wolf, or wait for him to speak first. His ears moved up as the male explained that this was the border to the Crimson Dreams pack. He gave a small nod as he then introduced himself as Kansas Sadira and offered him to look around. “Thanks you Kansas. My name is Songan Amara from the AniWaya tribe. I would love to see around your pack. Thank you for the offer.” He then took to Kansas’ side and waited for him to lead the way. Perhaps he would be able to get to know the white wolf better and offer his skills to his pack as well.

Kansas felt somewhat accomplished in meeting this man, having been emotionally incapable of seeking out the wolves in surrounding areas and further familiarizing himself with the packs he had lived amongst for years. However, he recalled an encounter similar to this, during a patrol wherein he had run into a cheerful young wolf from another pack, he could not remember which. Unfortunately, his attempt to take the young man on a tour had been just that - an attempt. Roran had suddenly returned home, leaving the pale werewolf discouraged and insecure. He had enjoyed the youth's company up until that point. Hopefully, this man, Songan, would see the tour that Kansas offered through, however pitiful might be in the stranger's eyes.

"Sure, sure. My pleasure."The Sadira gave a small smile as the other took to his side. Being in his Optime form, Songan stood above Kansas, though had he shifted he would have towered over the red wolf. Still, the other appeared strong and even imposing with his tribal style. With his rusty fur he reminded Kansas of a smaller version of Anu's most energetic son, Oak, whose company he had come to enjoy in the time he had spent teaching the boy to read.

Kansas passed the borders into his home and took a northern direction, wishing to take the man along a scenic route through the forest and into the clearing where the ghost of a human military base lay. It was where he had intended to take Roran before his hasty departure. Since it would take a while for them to reach the spectacular site, Kansas looked up to the rust-toned werewolf beside him with curiousity in his turqouoise pools, hoping to step outside of his comfort zone and make conversation. "What's AniWaya like? Eh... I understand it's one of our... our allies." He sounded pathetic, he was sure.

It was nice to meet Kansas, though was still a bit worried about the male’s actions towards him. Although he seemed a bit more confident than before, he was still nervous about something. He wondered if there was something he would be able to do to help the wolf and make him more comfortable. The most he could think to do was just keep a relaxed mood and hoped the other wolf would ease into the mood. His ears moved down slightly to show his sign of worry, though hoped that Kansas would not be taken back by it. It was almost like it was in the male’s genes to feel the worry of others. He gently shook his head as he turned his attention back to the white wolf. He didn’t want to seem like he was being rude so he did not ask about it. Instead he placed his hands behind his back and brought a smile to his face.

Songan was glad to see that he was going to be able to get a tour of the pack lands. He was sure it would be as nice as AniWaya in the scenery, though he was sure the buildings and homes of the members would be much different. He fixed up his hair a bit as they began on the journey, a very scenic one at that. It would be hard now for the male to erase the smile on his face as they went around. He began to make mental pictures of the scenes in his head. Perhaps he would be able to make some pictures of these areas and give them to the members of Crimson Dreams. Perhaps even if he was lucky, he would be able to come back inside the borders to paint them and meet other members of this pack. His golden gaze moved down to the white wolf as they continued. He was still in lupus form, so it was a bit hard to see eye to eye, though he wasn’t complaining. It was nice to be able to see the area from a bit of a higher view.

The rust wolf’s ears moved up as Kansas asked what AniWaya was like, even pointing out that they were allies with Crimson Dreams. He thought for a moment and then spoke. “AniWaya is a lovely place, very scenic just like Crimson Dreams. Most of the homes of the tribe members is near the Town Hall at the center of our territory.”The male then turned back on the topic of the two packs being allies. “I was not aware that AniWaya and Crimson Dreams were allies. I only arrived here from the Great Tribe a couple weeks ago looking for my sister and brother. It’s nice to know that we have allies though.” He stretched out his limbs gently as they continued on the tour. Now it was his turn for a question. “Is there a certain place in Crimson Dreams where most of the pack members live?”

Omfg! I had a long post typed up and I freaking lost it! I HATE this computer. Waaah. Also I made a boo boo, Kansas has been to AniWaya. Edited my last post, I hope it doesn't cause too much confusion for ya. <3 300+

Kansas watched the man's expression carefully, curious to see if he could detect the impression he was making. To his dismay, Songan seemed slightly uncomfortable, no doubt because of his own broken and seemingly anxious speech. He wished that he could explain it, for he had always spoken in that way, even to his own mate and pups. Perhaps as their time together extended, Songan would come to realize that his way of speaking was simply part of his nature, and had nothing to do with the brick-hued AniWayan. Hoping to soften any unease his guest was feeling, Kansas kept his calm smile in place across dark lips that contrasted with the white fur of his muzzle, and his tail wagged cordially, at a constant, slow pace.

Already the trees were thinning, and the dappled light that fell in golden pools amid the more slender shadow highlighted the cream tones of the Sadira's fur, the reds of the other's. Kansas cupped his ears toward the sound of Songan's voice, eager to hear his answer. He was a newcomer -- the white wolf should have guessed this, given his companion's admirable curiosity about the packs that neighbored his home. I bet it's beautiful. I saw some of it recently, went with my son, Silvano, to get him a horse. What I saw of it was... was very pretty. Songan had given him more information about AniWaya than he had ever heard before. What little he knew of it he had learned from Savina and Anu, though he rarely spoke to either of his leaders about the affairs of other packs, unless they were drastic. Both woman knew the AniWayan leaders, but Kansas remembered only one of the names, Dawali Amara, well liked and respected by both woman.

I eh, I didn't expect that your tribe would take to human shelter, like we do. We have Haven Manor... it's ah, a big mansion. You'll see it. Before now, Kansas' perspective of a tribal pack was that its members lived and slept out of human doors, but he realized that it would be unwise to reject the advantages of human made shelter as long as it was available. ...hey, there's the base, up ahead.

They had left the forest entirely, and from where it had receded spanned a wide emerald field strewn by the massive flying structures that humans had once used to fight their wars. Some of the great things lay in pieces, while others remained perfectly intact. Kansas had been here many times before, but he still balked every time he laid eyes the strange and magnificent place. Hesitantly, he glanced up at his companion, not sure whether to sit or continue toward the skeletal airplanes. You want a closer look?

Lol it's ok. Just had to do a few edits to my post but it's all good. / Word Count: 504 (5 points)

Although his mind was occupied by other things, Songan payed attention to the white wolf, as they walked around. His ears moved up as Kansas stated that he would like to see AniWaya sometime. He thought for a moment and thought he got an idea. He was sure his brother would not mind a guest from a nearby pack being there so long as he was with him. He smiled as he then spoke back to the male. “Perhaps I could show you around AniWaya sometime Kansas. I’m sure my brother won’t mind if I do.” Sometimes it was nice having an older brother for the chief, and he was getting more used to it as the days went on. He hadn’t seen his brother since he met him along the borders, though he hoped that would soon change. He would have liked to have seen Dawali again and hoped he would sometime in the future. Songan was also happy to hear about Silvano again. Perhaps he would be able to help with that in some way too, though he was not a horse expert himself. He was sure he would think of something later.

Songan’s eyes continued to gaze around as Kansas mentioned that most of the members of his pack lived in a mansion. He was not an expert on human buildings seeing as he had lived in the Great Tribe all of his life, though had seen some on his journey here. He never really took the time to look inside them, though he had to admit that they looked very sturdy from the outside. He was sure it was a nice place to live for someone who wasn’t used to the life that AniWaya had to offer. He wondered if maybe on their tour he would be able to see the place that Kansas spoke of. He was sure it would be very interesting to see.

The red wolf’s eyes gazed around as they came to the base. He had never seen anything like this before and didn’t even know what a plane was. He had noticed that the trees above them had vanished and the odd objects were laid out in a field of green. The white wolf asked if he would like to go closer. He gave him a small nod. “Sure. This place seems like a very interesting place.” He began to head towards the base as he called it and looked around at all the different planes. Boy did they have such strange things in his pack lands. His eyes gazed over to the male as he places his hands on one. “What are these things Kansas? I’ve never seen anything like it. It kind of looks like it has the shape of a bird.” He found that very interesting. It was like these things had wings. If that was true then would they also be able to fly like birds. He would be truly amazed if such a thing could actually do that.

Sorry about the wait. Sad 300+

Kansas grinned, flattered by the invitation Songan had given him. His eyes widened when the other spoke of his brother as if he were AniWaya's leader. Heh, thanks, man, that would be great. Your brother, is he Dawali Amara? he could not help but ask, remembering again the high esteem in which his mate and friend held the leader of the tribal pack. If so, it would be fun to tell Savina about his encounter later tonight. Maybe she would be impressed.

Kansas could understand why his and Songan's packs were allies, if Dawali was anything like his brother. The red wolf seemed very generous, very polite, and in no way was he irritating. The Sadira was silently grateful to him, as his company was a complete distraction from his petty sorrows. It was not often that he was able to find friendship in others, but perhaps there was a possibility with Songan.

The white wolf nodded, All right, and slid forward, through the tall, swaying grasses to the nearest piece of odd machinery, a small military green airplane tilted to one side. He gestured toward the plane with a jerk of his head and began to explain in acknowledgment of his companion's curiosity. Yeh, they are like birds. They got their power from gasoline that was put into the, uh, engine, and it made them able to fly. Humans used them to fight their wars — see, Kansas moved to the giant wing and pointed his muzzle toward the empty barrels where either rockets or machine guns had once served as agents of destruction. Those held guns, dunno what kind... He threw his turquoise gaze to Songan, to see how he was taking this in. But these things used to decimate. That was for sure. He could not imagine the intensity of flying one of these structures and using it to kill others. It was not something he would ever have been able to do.

Songan was glad to see that Kansas would be happy to see the AniWaya tribe. It was good to make a friend outside of the tribe and was sure this would help to build their friendship. The white wolf then asked if his brother was Dawali Amara. He gave a smile as he nodded. “Yes. Dawali is my younger brother.” He was getting more used to the fact that his younger brother was the leader of the AniWaya tribe, though he had no doubts that the younger red wolf would not mind his older brother bringing a friend to see the tribe and learn about the life there. He could see the appreciation in the male's face, even though he was more on the quiet side and was breaking out of the sorrow and worry he had seen before.

The two began to head into the field where the odd machines laid. He noticed Kansas jerk his head towards one as he began to explain what they were and how they worked. Everything that he was saying was like a new language to him. The male was never one to both with human machines and what not. He prefered the ways of the tribe, more traditional and one with the spirits around one's self. The one thinghe couldn't believe was that these things were able to fly. It didn't look like the wings were able to move like a bird. He looked over to the male as he pointed to a certain point on the wing with his muzzle. He came over and looked to the barrels where the humans put weapons on it. A frown came to his face at the idea of a weapon firing from the air. “I don't like the idea of that. Did all these things have weapons on them?” He tried to block the idea from his mind and looked around to see if there was something else to look at. It looked like all that was in this field were the machines.

Songan began to wander around the field as he looked at the other bird like machines. It seemed like a lot of them had places for weapons and didn't really like it. He continued to look around for one that didn't contain such a thing. He sighed as he moved back over to Kansas. “If these things were still working, I don't think I'd be able to use one. I prefer the ways of AniWaya and using a bow.” He gave the white wolf a small smile before swaying his tail and looking towards the sky. It looked like it was getting later in the day and he would have to head home soon, though he wouldn't mind staying for a little longer. His golden gaze moved over to Kansas as he made his way over towards the direction they came from. “Perhaps we could head back soon? I should be getting back home soon, though I don't mind waiting around a little longer if there's more to see.”

Archive? Just say they tottled back to the borders and said goodye? 300+

Kansas was satisfied when Songan confirmed that he was Dawali's brother. Perhaps he had a fairly good chance of touring AniWaya someday, especially if its leader knew who his mate was. That, and this potential friendship with Songan, though Kansas hoped for that regardless of whether or not he was able to see more of AniWaya.

The white lupus looked back at the Songan, seeing confusion mounting in his expression as his explanation progressed. Kansas did not understand why humans had gone to such lengths to kill each other in the masses that these machines could create. War was part of life, but the humans had taken it too far. He did not envy their ability to use flying machines, not for bloodshed. No, I don't like it either... he spoke honestly, watching Songan's gaze wander to the other structures scattered over the field. He sat down and simply watched as the other strode around, looking. When he returned and spoke his feelings about the machines, Kansas nodded in agreement. Yeh, I'd never use one either. Rather use my teeth. Kansas did not even like weaponry like knives and bows, and had no interest in learning to use them. They were clearly more acceptable than explosives and machine guns, though.

The sunlight was taking an orange glow with the advancing evening. Kansas offered a smile in return and got to his feet just as the red wolf was saying he needed to leave. The Sadira had hoped to show his friend the mansion, but the hour was late, and he wished to get back to his family anyway. Looking back, he flicked his crown forward in the direction from which they had come. Sure, I'll take you to the borders. With a merry wag of his snowy tail Kansas began to lead the way toward the forest.
