Set in the Dampwoods.

The weather was growing hotter and he knew that soon enough summer would be upon them. He had woken that morning to find a thin mist just upon the shore of the water and there hung a curtain of humidity. As the day continued onward, however, it had soon vanished and that water looked rather beckoning. Soon enough, Jenkai would spend many hours of the day in the water’s comfort, but it hadn’t grown quite that hot just yet. The days were mostly clear and he had set his mind on getting things accomplished.

Off in the distant, grey clouds were moving in. He knew that it most likely meant that more rain would be falling this afternoon, but he still had an hour or so to get things done. He set out with his leather bag swung over his shoulder in hopes of doing some surveying of the grounds. He had heard word of wolf packs being established as well as a coyote clan that seemed to be rather hostile. He had claimed his home along Chebicto Peninsula over a year ago and wondered if may become threatened. He figured by assessing the situation now, he could prepare for any sort of disaster which might occur later.

As the month of May unfolded upon the lands, the saying "April showers bring May flowers" would seem irrelevant. THis was so because those showers seemed oblivious to the change of the month and had plowed right on through may. Luckily, there had been a short break from the rain and though the gray clouds in the distance warned of its arrival soon enough, Cain would embrace the dryness of it all.

Cain had not established an actual home in the lands of 'Souls as of yet. He had always been something of a rolling stone and was not yet used to the idea of being in one general area for very long. Eventually he'd have to get a permanent shelter somewhere, be it in a free land or among the ranks of a stationary pack, but until then the hybrid wandered aimlessly, sleeping wherever he found himself by the time darkness fell.

Trudging through the Dampwoods, Cain spotted another canine not far off, a leather pack on his shoulders. Taking a puff of his cigarette, Cain called out to the stranger, "Hello, my friend!" The bright blue eyes of the Black canine were lazy, his left eye permanently squinted as the result of a scar. "What might you be doing out here, all alone?" he asked, his voice friendly and upbeat.

He stopped, shading his eyes with his left hand, searching the lands that spread out before him. He had made good distance so far from the peninsula and would have been quite interested to know that realistically he wasn’t far from where the coyotes had established themselves. True he was curious about them, but he hoped not to tango with them for a long while.

The scent of cigarette smoke reached him almost the same time as the voice. It brought back memories of his father Aros mostly. He turned then, noting that the voice was unfamiliar. Though there had been no hope or slightest chance that it could have been his father, Jenkai still wondered what it would be like to turn and see his face once more. When his sea foam gaze came to rest on Cain, he knew that would never be the case.

This was number two. At least since Spencer had decided to leave. Jenkai knew there were plenty more around, but this fellow was still only the second he had come across. "Good afternoon," Jenkai replied, noting that he didn’t speak with a hostile tone. Hymn had been rather hospitable when talking to him, but know he knew there were some who despised wolves. He couldn’t be too careful he supposed. "I’m merely off for a walk. I hope I’m not disturbing you," he added.
