The morning of their first day in Ichika had seen the residents scatter in all directions to explore the lands and find places to stay. Nearly a years worth of rising before dawn to bathe and run saw Saul one of the first to rise and his stirrings had awoken the little girl who was growing bigger by the day. She didnt usually wake so early- her room had been on the lower floor of the cabin and she'd been tucked in bed at the time Saul had exited the cabin. So the pale female hadn't really known the extent of her guardian's deeply ingrained routine. But the pre-dawn darkness had seen them both rise from the joined furs they had lain, careful not to wake the sleeping form of his brother and his almost grown children where they had claimed the other half of the furs. They must look like such an odd family- Saul and Siku and Wretch, with Gideon, Range and Melee. The six of them were nothing alike, thrown together with different surnames but working together to make sure they stayed close. That was what Razekial and Nayru had set out to create here- a family where surnames didnt matter and a sense of care for all was created. And who knew, maybe they would achieve it here. It would take time though and the black and white fairy would have to be prepared for tensions to explode at some point in time, at the very least.

He'd asked Wretch to stay and guard their belongings while Saul sought some running water, washing away the journey that had taken them far from home. His fur fluffed he'd made a quick circuit of their sleeping party of travellers, a very short and unsatisfactory run for the male who was used to running the entirety of the Dahlian borders in a few hours. Still, Wretch was up and waiting and she seemed to want to go and explore today. So he returned, swiped a lick across Siku's forehead before he nuzzled his ward and they set off on all four paws. They would go out into the Ichikan territory, find out what they could about the land, perhaps even find somewhere to sleep properly for tonight, and come back to report to the white furred, golden eyed female and his brother and family. Hopefully, they would be able to find somewhere large enough for them all- Saul wanted his brother, niece and nephew close in these strange and unchartered waters.

"Whar we goin' today, Da?" The girl asked. She had wondered how long they would be traveling for in the days previous, as they had walked for what felt like an eternity before settling into Ichika. How long would they be running around for today? Usually Wretch was good to go as long as they took it slow...but this morning she was all a-burst with energy, scampering in front of Saul like a pup half her age, tail wagging in a blur behind her. She felt bits of pain throughout her leg when she put pressure on it to walk, but she paid them no heed.

"I like this place. Do you like it?" She looked about at their surroundings as they went, poking her head into a half-rotten tree that leaned partially over the path they were taking. Nope, nothing interesting in there. Wretch turned back to him, tail still wagging quickly as she waited for him to catch up to her. "You a slowpoke today, you know that?"

The little girl was full of questions, which was usual on some days and not so usual on others for her. She either asked a lot of questions of him, or was completely happy to stay in silence while they sat on the porch of the cabin and looked out over the river. With a twist in his gut the agouti male thought about the river cabin he had built with so much love. But they were here now and this was a whole knew adventure. Wretch's little voice made him smile. "We're going on an adventure Wretch. To explore this new and strange land. And maybe to find somewhere to live." He offered by way of explanation. Despite her unwillingness to talk to anyone other than Saul and occasionally Siku, he knew the little girl to be intelligent and alert. She would pick up things that he didnt see, and he vice versa. He was getting used to having her around, caring for her, providing for her. She was not his child, he was perhaps her guardian in most ways, but some days he felt love and pride swell in his chest when she achieved something knew. He wwas going to have to start teaching her how to hunt soon, and within the next few weeks her body was going to start shifting. It was all so quick that the tiny little broken puppy had grown up.

Twining herself round his paws like a small child the pale coated female asked him if he liked the lands they had settled in. He hadnt seen enough of them to know whether he liked it or not. He hadnt been round the whole territory, testing Nayru's and Razekial's scent markings to make sure they were complete. He hadnt seen what else this place had to offer other than the mountain ranges that protected their backs. But what he had seen had pleased him. The lands could do with some maintenance, just a few touches here and there to make the place look a little smarter. Although they were wolves, the virus had given them human intelligence and civilisation. They didnt need to live like savages if they could help it. Green eyes found bright green looking back at him and he smiled. "I do like it here, little one. I need to see more of it though- and thats what we're going to do today. Explore." He said with a small chuckle. Leaning down and bracing his nose against her backside he tried to push her forward before he remembered her leg. But she seemed okay now, so he hoped everything was alright.

Her whining made him scowl, although it was clear from the way he fought to keep the expression fixed on his face that it was no serious emotion. With a playful snap at the little girls ears, Saul bounded forward. "Slowpoke eh? Well we'll have to do something about that then, won't we?" He teased before bounding forward once more. It was times like these where the male was reminded that he was still young himself. With a laugh he jogged ahead of her, aware that her leg was still in need of some therapy to build the muscles back up again. If she could catch him, he would be rather impressed with her progress, that was for sure.

She'd loved the cabin that she and Saul and Siku had lived in before in Dahlia. Would they be able to find something like that here? The little girl wondered what this territory had to offer them. It had to be a good place to live...otherwise Nayru and that one male wouldn't have wanted them to move all that way. She hoped that they'd be able to find somewhere nice to live, even if it would take a little bit of fixing up. She was getting stronger, but hadn't shifted yet and had little to no interest in shifting forms. She was fine just how she was, and with her weak leg, walking in that form would probably be difficult anyway.

"Can we live by Giddy, Daddy?" She was growing to slowly like Saul's brother; he was quiet, like her, and seemed very nicely tempered. He'd brought her a rabbit a few times, but had left when she hadn't come out of her room to get it. He seemed to understand her solitary ways and didn't mind if she didn't want to talk or interact sometimes. She hoped Siku would come with them, too; she didn't mind Siku too much either. Gideon's children were too rambunctious for Wretch to want to be around them much, but those two adults weren't too bad.

Saul jogged up ahead of her and she hurried, panting slightly as she worked her weaker leg. Maybe she would run more often...the stretch of her gait didn't hurt quite as much as it once had, something that surprised her. "My leg don't hurt too much!" She said. She was nowhere near catching up, but she ran much more quickly than she had previously been able to.

As excitable as Wretch was, she was a sensible little girl. Her bright green eyes looked up at him and Saul smiled softly. He was her guardian, unofficially, but she was more like a daughter to him. Perhaps they had developed a father daughter relationship- Saul may have even followed in his younger brothers footsteps. Wretch seemed to know what he was thinking and asked him a question that he didnt know the answer to. "I hope so Wretch... I havent lived with my brother since I was younger. It would be nice to be close to him and his family again. We'll see what we can find today? Something suitable for all of us!" He said, hoping his almost-daughters young mind would be able to find something that the whole family might fit in to. The little girl tried to catch up with him, but he could see it was a daunting prospect. She spoke and Saul smiled softly towards her. A brave little girl, no doubt about that.

"Ah, well, slowpoke, we'll ease up then shall we? I think we're just coming into a town called Trenton, so keep your eyes wide open"

He said, nuzzling the little girls head as she caught up with him. They'd slowed now and Saul looked at the buildings around him. Most were in a state of disrepair, although nothing that would mean there was no hope for any of the building. It seemed Trenton and New Glasgow and wherever else they'd settled had been hit by the snow storm too, but it didnt seem as bad as the rest of the lands that had been affected. Saul was curious, dipping in and out of a few buildings to see what they were. From his limited knowledge, he guessed that most of them were business related- there weren't a whole lot of residential buildings around here.

"See anything yet sweety?"

He asked, wondering what his ward's look on the town of Trenton was.

There were SO many structures in this town! The little girl was amazed at the way that this place looked. Dahlia'd had its own little town that she had been to, but this one seemed a bit bigger. Wretch looked around, exploring it with her eyes. "Yeah, a place for everyone! So...a big house?" The buildings here looked much different than Saul's cabin had. She'd have to investigate a few of them a little further.

Saul nudged her as they slowed down, and she giggled. "We'll find something--lookit all these places! We should go look over there, by that park" She suggested. Wretch could see a grouping of trees up ahead, which interested her more than these buildings. "It's like having a forest in the big city!" She exclaimed as they reached it, darting between the trees. "Somewhere near here, please? pleeeaassee?"

The excited little girl was obviously happy to be out and about, and the agouti male was proud to see her getting stronger and braver. She wasnt quite ready to be out talking to others yet, he could tell she was still quite and reserved around those that may end up living with them- Nayru, Melee and Range especially. But she would get there, he knew she would. He laughed softly as wide green eyes looked at all the buildings around them. It was going to be hard to find one suitable for all of them. Wretch voiced his opinions and Saul nodded softly. "Yep, all of us. Siku, you and I, Gideon, Melee and Range... maybe even Nayru." He offered, although he wasnt sure about Nayru at the moment. As a leader he respected and liked her. But as a friend and a potential breaker of his brothers heart, he wasnt so sure at the moment. He intended to speak to her in the next couple of days, although he didnt mention any of this to Wretch. She probably would have understood, but he didnt want to voice his opinion at the moment.

As he nudged her she giggled and Saul felt his heart lift. Though not technically his daughter, she was so like a daughter to him in so many ways. She spoke again and Saul gave a soft nod. "Lead the way, little one. We'll go wherever you want." He said with a soft chuckle of his own. He ambled behind his half-daughter, critical green eyes still noticing the slight limp to her walk, the hesitancy to put all her weight down on it. Despite being fully healed, there was still muscle mass to build up, to train once more. And her bones needed to get stronger again. Still, she was doing well as it was and he let himself get distracted by the sounds of her voice coming towards him. She exclaimed about it being like a forest in the city and Saul smiled. "An urban jungle" He offered to his half-daughter before she bounded off.

Her insistence that it would be here they lived made Saul take a good look around. It was a nice neighborhood, a little higher class. But as with everything in these times, most of the building were in a state of needing some serious repair works. Still, he nodded towards Wretch. "I like it around here... lets go and have a look at some houses eh?" He said, titling his head to allow her to lead the way.

She had never been this deep into the new territory that they had come to live in. Wretch didn't mind it so far. She had been hoping that there would be less ocean-part to this territory and more land, but she didn't know if that would be true or not. Dahlia had been massive in size compared to what they had, but this stuff was all new. All fresh and ready to explore! She had even been given an adult rank, as her transition to adulthood had not been too far away. She was to find out about the various different territories of this land, to start.

But the ocean was one thing that she would not be fond of viewing. She didn't hate water or hate the beach, but she wouldn't go near it unless she had a specific reason to. She didn't know how she would handle being near it again; the one time that she had been close enough to the shore to hear rushing water, she had taken flight and had run away from the sound until she couldn't hear it any more.

"We're all going to be in one house? Or...different ones close together?" She was a little skeptical about living in the same house with so many people. She liked things the way they were, staying with just Saul and Siku. It was simple and easy. "We should find a really big building. I see some over there...that one has lots of plants on the outside of it" She pointed with her nose, picking up the pace with her paws energetically. "It's real pretty, too, when you get closer!" She called.

The territory they were walking in now wasnt anywhere the male had gone before, but he found, like Wretch, that he quite liked it. Despite its rundown state, as with everywhere in this place, it had a quaint beauty about it that settled the males mind. If they were to live anywhere, it would be here. And so he began to look seriously around at the buildings, mentally ticking them off as he went. Too large, too small, unrepairable, unliveable. He knew there wasnt ever going to be a perfect building for them, and the male began to see potential everywhere. Still, a silence had lulled between them for the moment and the male was happy to walk along in silence. They'd passed the park like parts of the territory and were just on the outskirts of this large green area when Wretch started to speak again. She seemed concerned for a moment and Saul nuzzled the top of her head reassuringly.

"I don't think so Wretch... I think we should look for one building with many little houses inside them... so we each have our own space but we're together."

He said with a smile. He'd read about apartments back in Dahlia and knew roughly what they were. Tiny little houses all compact inside a larger building, so that they would each have their own living areas but still be within close proximity with each other. Wretch began speaking again, outlining what they should be looking for and she even pointed one out. Green eyes turned to look at the building, almost overgrown with vines and moss. However, the musty white female approached and called over that she thought it was pretty. Saul smiled softly, trotting over and looking aruond. It was a nice sized building and would house them all well. He didnt know the extent of the damage though. He nodded softly to Wretch.

"I like it, my sweet. Lets go and have a look around inside!"

He said with a chuckle. Walking around the side of the building he found the front door, hanging off its hinges and rotting, under a tower-like structure that topped the long, two storey building. With a twinkle in his eyes, he stepped inside, his imagination coming alive with what they could do to the place.

Wretch was getting bigger as she got older, but it was obvious that she would not grow to be as large as Saul by any means. She was a petite female, with longer legs and an extremely bushy tail. Her paws were small as well, indicating that she was nearly done growing. They had been much larger as a little puppy. She moved with an unsteady gait, the same as she always had, and looked quite awkward when she walked or ran. This was partially due to her age and partially due to her leg, which still pained her after all this time. It was possible that it hadn't healed right, that it had begun to heal already by the time that Saul had come across her.

"I like that idea...Would I have my own room?" She asked curiously. Wretch had been wondering when she would leave Saul's cabin when they had lived back in Dahlia...maybe now was the time, since she was already an "adult" in this pack. She was glad to hear the description of the apartment place, though; she wanted to be a little independent from him but didn't want to be too far away, either. They went into the structure, and she glanced around curiously. "Looks like some of the locks were taken off. Broke, or something" She said, examining one of the doors.

Green eyes were wide as they entered the building. It was in a bad state and needed a lot of work done to it. The first thing would definitely need to be ripping down the vines covering the windows to let light come into the rooms to set it on fire with dancing sunbeams. He could feel a carpet beneath his paws, but it was long since filthy and rotten, something they would need to rip up. The lobby wasnt huge, but lead towards a staircase that was rotten but climable. A broken and unused elevator stood on the wall, while double doors at the end of the corridor spoke of a large space maybe used for dining. It could easily be turned into a communal living space where they could socialise as a family. Wretch's voice bought him back from his immediate planning and he looked down at her with a soft smile.

"Yes, I think it high time you have a room, or apartment, to yourself. You'll be in the one next to me though, so you're still close."

He said kindly and as they moved forward and into the small lobby. Wretch hung back and he saw her changing eyes lock on to the door. Her younger months had seen a nice spring green to her eyes, but as she grew they had darkened to a colour similar to his brothers turquoise. He was sure they were going to lighten further to a sky blue, but for now they were in the awkward in-between stage. Saul moved back to examine the locks that appeared bashed in. It must have been broken a long time- someone looting in the early stages of the virus. He nodded softly, nudging her again. Physical contact was essential amoung his family and he was forever nuzzling and nudging Wretch and Siku.

"I think you're right sweetheart. What do you think about this place? With a bit of work, it might look nice."

He offered it to her like a prime piece of meat on a platter, for her inspection and approval or disapproval. His tail gave a soft wag as he turned back, surveying the area and allowing his imagination to fill in the gaps, erasing all the bad and filling it with good. The grin on his face clearly said his mind was made.

The idea sounded alright to her. She nodded steadily as they explored the hallway, looking into rooms to see what they looked like. Wretch was curious about what her room would look like, especially. It looked as if this place would need a lot of fixing up...she'd probably help with that despite her antisocial ways. "I think it looks good, Da. It needs some love...but we have enough family that can help with that. Don't you think?" She asked.

She glanced into one room, noting its blue wallpaper and smiling. That was one of her favorite colors, blue; Wretch had spent many days traversing Dahlia and the sky had been her constant companion. The color made her feel happy and content. If she could get this room, perhaps she could have it around when she was inside as well. "I really like this one..If we move here, I would want to help fix it up especially"

It was going to take a lot to get this place back up to its former glory, that was a certain fact in the young males mind. They had arrived in these new lands the night before and the two of them were already seeking out a place to live. It was a pro-active move though and one that Saul was very happy to be doing. Besides, he hadnt spent enough time with his half-daughter in the past few weeks, the stress of the move and everything piled up against him. But they were here now, and he could see that they werent going anywhere for a long while. Wretch's little voice came through, the affectionate term 'Da' coming once more from her mouth. There was nothing Saul could do about it- Wretch was his family just as much as Melee and Range were, not by blood but by love and affection. Or Siku and Nayru- they were family through the same ties. He chuckled softly as she spoke of their family.

"I do agree, my dearest. We have a big family that can help get this place back together again. We won't be able to move in for a few days, maybe a week though. Gideon and I should check it out to make sure its sound as well."

He informed her, although for a moment it sounded as if he were making a mental note of what he needed to do. They continued, going up the stairs. It took them a good while to navigate the broken and often rotting stairs that would need to be seriously repaired before they were as good as they had been. Still, he opened the door to the first room he saw, seeing a mostly modern but run down apartment. It was nice and spacious, as the rooms downstairs had been. A call from Wretch made him look up, exiting the room and going to the room next door. It was a nice cool blue in here, although in some places the paint was peeling. It was a pretty apartment, and Saul quickly looked in the two bedrooms it offered, plus the bathroom and study rooms. The living area, including the dining room and kitchen, were all open planned, as were the rest of the rooms. A large living space with all she would need.

"You really like this one? Well then, this shall be your room. And Siku and I will be right next door, so you can't get into too much trouble!"

He said, exploring further into the apartment that would soon be his daughters. A view over the street, but they could see the grassy area Wretch had referred to as a park earlier. She could see a lot out of her windows, which was nice. He exited, looking to the room directly opposite Wretch's. Opening the door, the gave a soft gasp, arm coming out to stop Wretch going any further. "The roof's caved in... this room will need a lot of work!" He reported to her, though it wasnt something he was likely to forget. He entered, green eyes making note of all the things that could be done.

He was the only father that she could ever remember having; he had been there for her when she had needed him, always. He'd saved her life and had given her a home, had provided for her when she had been too ill or pain-ridden to provide for herself. The little girl was blossoming into a young woman, but there would always be a place for her father in her heart no matter how old she was. She didn't expect that she would get any of her memories back from before her accident, and she would be just fine if she never got them back. She was content living life just like this.

"Should we try and fix all the rooms, Da? It'll take a long time won't it?" And a lot of work. But it wasn't like she had anything better to do...and she really wanted to get acquainted with other members of the pack. "But...can anyone live here, or is it just us? I guess...if we fixed up more rooms more of the pack could come stay here if they wanted to." She said. Wretch wasn't usually one for sharing or meeting others willingly...but the move to Ichika was sparking a tiny change in the girl. She was willing to try, at least, and see how such a meeting of minds would go.

Green eyes took stock of the damage. Once you got over the initial shock of the roof having caved in, it was relatively simple. The weight of the snow on the roof had caused it to cave in on itself and there was a good sized whole in the side of the building. Once the clutter was cleared away, it would perhaps leave a whole in the roof of about five metres by six or seven. The outside beam of the support had rotted and would need to be replaced, as would the joists at the corners of the beams. But other than that, it looked relatively easy to fix. He would need some help though, to clear away all the debris and dirt first would be a job that he could use some help on. The little girl who was fast growing into a young woman stayed at the door at his request. He glanced back as she spoke, voicing her thoughts in a way she had never really done in Dahlia. She was changing since they'd arrived only a handful of hours ago. He was glad she was becoming more talkative, even if it was just to him.

"Well, we have a big family Wretch- we'll need to fix all the rooms up for everyone to live in. For the most part, aside from this room, the rooms are in good condition and will just need tidying and cleaning. It shouldnt take too long, if we take responsibility for our own rooms!"

He chuckled with a smile. He turned back and exited the room, firmly shutting the door behind him. It would not do well for anyone to get in there before it had been secured and fixed. He would speak with Gideon in a while, see what he thought about it. Wretch spoke again and Saul glanced down at her. He'd already worked out in his mind that eventually, all the apartments would have owners. There were four apartments remaining, and while the fourth wasnt inhabitable at the moment, it would be eventually. And when everybody returned to them, as Saul was certain they would, they would have rooms here. Saul shook his head softly before answering.

"When everyone returns, as I'm sure they will, there won't be any room for other pack members."

He said simlply, before backing up and walking back down the stairs. It took them much longer to get down the stairs as it had for them to get up the stairs and by the time they touched ground on the first floor, it was later in the day. Saul looked around, before heading for the front door. "Lets go and find Gideon and tell him about what we found, eh?" He said, before exiting the rotting door and heading back towards Westville, where he was sure Gideon had set up camp.
