Growing Hope

OOC: For Saul, I'll make this a quick one! :3 <3 Dated for July 9th if that is ok.
-----

Eclipse finally got out after helping repair their living space. She had a late night excursion and she was able to see spots where she wanted to plan the seeds. Razekiel had been right, she would know exactly where to plant them and thanks Anu she knew how to plant seeds and knew what to do. She had knocked on Saul's door feeling her excitement about the planting coming over her. She was returning to her old self little by little and her tail was wagging as she waited for her cousin so she could put some seeds into the ground. She had the bag in her hand and had found a small hand shovel. It was rusted and very old, but she was sure she could use it. Even if it broke she was not one to scoff at the dirt. The young future cook was ready to start learning how to grow the plants she had in her hand, though she didn't think they were herbs she was sure she would be well on her way to that point, but it seemed that their land needed a fix-me-up before anything of a garden could be thought of. Even grass was rare from what had happened before, and she wondered if it had been a fire, there was evidence of one, and she knew what fire could do, it had singed her fur once. She would ask Saul.... if he would wake up.

this is ooc!

short and snappy is good for me <33

His head was groggy from the good nights sleep he'd had. Now that the repairs were being made for the roof, he'd slept easier. It had seemed to fall on him to get things going, although he knew Range was beginning to clean up downstairs. He'd decided to put the boy onto cleaning out the old dining room to the back of the property. It was a bit awkward in structural design- all four apartments were at the front of the building and the stairs and elevator seemed to cut it in half. Between the elevator and staircase, two wide double doors lead into a large and spacious area that Saul intended to turn into a common room for them to socialise or whatever. Range had begun tidying that out for him, although nothing of use was thrown away. Saul had become quite the hoarder in things that would become eventually useful for him and he'd made sure Range kept all the chairs and tables that were undamaged. They would come in useful some day, he was sure. Still, he'd gone to bed the night before exhausted. They'd spent all day in Apartment Eight, clearing away everything, getting the A-beam supports up again. Clearing away the debris had taken a lot of time and the male felt his whole body ache with the work they'd gotten through yesterday. But it had been good to be around his family, to know they wanted to see this place in its former splendor as much as he did.

The tapping on his door was not unexpected- Eclipse had asked him yesterday while they were doing the roof if he would accompany her to do her initiation task. Range had offered, but Saul had said it was fine and that she should knock early on his door. He stretched with a groan, throwing on his customary shorts and t-shirt. He didnt want to disturb Siku so he left quietly. He found his cousin out in the hallway, the bad of seeds in her hand. She still had a slight reserved and nervous air about her, but that was to be expected. He rubbed her arm softly by way of encouragement before he offered words.

"Good morning Eclipse... A good nights sleep?"

He asked, thinking of his deep and satisfying slumber. He would have to organise his days from now on, to make sure he got everything done as he needed. There was no shortage of days, but some of the things that needed to be done needed doing within a short amount of time. Still, he could always spare an hour for his cousin, who had stuck close to him since arriving three days ago.

OOC: So sorry for taking so long, no idea waht got over me, well I kinda do but it sucketh

Saul was an affectionate cousin, and she appreciated his concerns and wanted to reassure him, but right now she didn't know what she wanted, except to plant these seeds. She could tell the whole of the pack lands could use work, and wondered why they all looked half dead. She would ask, eventually when she felt the right time came, right now it was greetings and reasons.

"I slept fine thanks. Are you ready? I think I know where to plant these.

She asked holding up the bag and the old rusted shovel. She had found a few different spots in near living spaces of others. If they were flowers, they were pretty and if they were pretty, then they would make the living spaces look nice, they wouldn't look pretty just anywhere. She felt near their own home was a good spot for them, as well as the home of some others. It would be a quick excursion, considering it really wasn't hard to plant seeds.

Dun be silly Shaw-bum! Its fine <33

Green eyes were quick to pick up on the impatience of his cousin and the agouti male exited and closed the door quietly behind him. There was no need to wake the whole house with their comings and goings. Saul waited as she answered, revealing her impatience to him without actually saying it. Instead, he nodded softly and started down the hall. She was sure to be by his side, or at the least just behind him. "I'm glad you're well Eclipse. Its been so long since we've all been together, it's a little strange even for me. " He noticed the rusted shovel in his cousins hand and chuckled softly as they made their way down the stairs. It was a bit of an art to getting up and down to the second level- the staircase was in a bad state of disrepair and was one of the things on his list to fix. The next thing would be the front door, and then coming back to finish off the roof. It might take a while to tile it all, to even consider getting out there and doing it. But he could, at the very least, repair the half of the a-beam and nail down the flat sheets of wood that would make it a roof again.

"So tell me cousin, where do you plan on planting these seeds? Do you know what they are?"

He asked, tongue poked out in concentration as he tried not to go through the stairs and down into the depths of god knew where. Creamed paws held onto the rotting railing tightly, breaking away a few chunks of wood each time he moved get a new grip on the rail. His tail remeained out, a tool he used for balance as they made their precarious way down the stairs. It took them about ten minutes to carefully and safely get to the first floor, a feat that should have really taken them ten seconds. But thus was the nature of the house they had chosen to live in- there was a lot of work to do.

Eclipse could only smile at that. It was part her fault that the family broke apart, and it wasn't all back together. She had seen hide nor hair of her mother or father around at all. She wondered what they were up to. Why hadn't they come back, she had. It mattered little, she still had some family here as Saul had said, and she thought it should stay that way, though who's to say if she decided to leave again...

Razekiel told me they were flowers, so I saw that they could be planted near the homes. Mostly where they would get the most sun. I think it would look pretty to have flowers next to our homes that have people living in them.

She said, almost too wisely. She seemed less worried about the stairs as she nimbly walked down behind him and when he stopped she would feel quite agitated, wondering why he was being so careful. She knew the stairs were in disrepair, but even she could easily skirt the termite infested wood. Most of the time. Once at the bottom she felt free and hurried to the front door to wait for him, her tail swaying back and forth a little. She was not a wolf to be constantly depressed, and soon she would be back to her lively self in no time, she was sure of it.

Despite his cautious approach to coming down the stairs, Eclipse was growing impatient. If Saul hadnt been worried about her stepping on a weak part of the stairs, he would have let her go ahead. But the stairs were more than just termite ridden. The steps themselves were so eroded that there was no distinction between one stair to the next and in a few years, there would be nothing here but a smooth lump of rotten wood. There were a few stairs completely shattered and the gaping holes left were dangerous. So they proceeded carefully, despite his cousins huffing. Finally they reached the bottom and Saul glanced back at the death stairs. They were the next thing on his list, that was certain. Eclipse chose to speak then, answering his question about the seeds and where they were going to put them. Saul nodded softly before adding;

"We should plant the first few around here, to mark this as our home. Unless you have specific places in mind?"

He asked. She'd said she wanted to plant them around the houses and that was fine. He just wondered if she had specific places in mind, or whether they would just wander around until they found the right place. She bounded to the door, tail wagging high. He could see that she was gradually getting back to her old self. He remembered Eclipse's behaviour yesterday when they had started fixing the roof. She'd been shy, unsure, quiet. It wasnt like her, but it was to be expected. She didnt know the newer additions to the family- Siku and Wretch were strangers to her. She would get there eventually, it just needed to take time. They stepped out into the sunlight and Saul embraced the new day.

OOC: Teh suxxors...

She gave a little giggle, something she hadn't done before, he probably was still a little scared of the stairs so he didn't hear everything she said, and in a way she found that funny

"I said that we are going to plant them near houses that have us living in them. This is one of them. And I saw a few more too. I think. So I'm going to plant them there too!"

Those places weren't too far from where they lived, and it mostly had deep scent of luperci. She knew where she needed to plant them she just needed Saul with her, that's what she thought at least. She opened the door waiting for her cousin, figuring she could be nice to an elder at least. She smiled a little and motioned her arm for him to go before her.

He heard his cousins giggle and returned with a chuckle of his own. He was pleased she was getting back to normal, even if it was taking a while. She had always been bouncy and bubbly, and he was happy to see that Ichika was suiting her well. For reasons unknown, he had taken up the mantle of his families happiness and took it personally if one of them were to become unhappy with themselves or the place they had chosen to live. Being so sensitive to those around him was a challenge even he could not comprehend, and he knew he spent far too long worrying about them. It was ingrained into him though, to be the watcher, the guardian. Eclipse began to speak again, reiterating the point she had made earlier. Saul conceeded with a bob of his head and a chuckle. They were just to wander around then.

"An excellent plan, my dear ward."

He commented, before she held the front door open for him. He smiled, breezing past and ruffling his cousins awkward hair pleasently on his way through. He was glad that everything was going well. Coming out into the bright day, the male rubbed his eyes and yawned dramatically, although he knew that Eclipse was aware of his odd waking hours and the obsession with which he stuck to his morning routine. It was the love for his cousin that halted him racing off towards the stream to bathe and wash away the previous days dirt. Still, keen green eyes turned towards her, guesturing around to see if any of these strips of unruly greenery suited her fancy.

OOC: off to one of the other places that's occupied.... where are they again? HAHAHA

Eclipse smiled at the approving answer and was out the door in seconds after Saul was. She looked around to find the perfect spot to plant her first seed. It was only right for her to do it where her family lived first, as well as Saul, who probably saved her from her own self destruction. She quielty sat down, doing the opposite of what Saul was really rearing to do. She started using th small shovel to dig up any old plants and roots as well as weeds, making a spot just next tot he stairs. This would be perfect to have small flowers growing here. She then took the pouch and poured a few in each little hole she had made and covered them up. She forgot she would need water, but couldn’t think of how to get any, but she shrugged it off, it was bound to rain soon anyway.

“Ok, the other place is this way!”

What Saul didn’t know was that Eclipse had gone out scouting the night before, so there wasn’t much wandering to be had other than to get to the destination of the you girl which tended to be quick.

[[haha, no idea. shall we end it here? we can just assume they continued on their planting scheme, i just dont know what else to write!]]

Eclipse paused as they got out into the open air, the cool summer morning triggering Saul's need to run. But he'd promised Eclipse that he would help her, and help her he would do. She crouched down, pulling weeds and other nasties out of the way. Saul bent to help, pulling up tougher roots that Eclipse couldnt manage on her own. The task was short lived, although the male knew they would have to continue until all of the seeds were planted. Eclipse then dug a few small trenches in the now empty flowerbed, pouring a few seeds in each. When that was done, she covered them back over, patting them softly. He would be sure to keep an eye on their progress in the weeks to come. They had not thought to bring water with them, so they would have to wait until it rained before the seeds got a good watering. Or perhaps he could ask Siku to do it on her way to tend the vines. Eclipse straighted, sorting her tools out before stepping forward again.

"Onwards then, my dearest"

He chuckled before bounding after her. She seemed to know exactly where she was going and Saul was pleased to see that there were signs of life in all the places they visited thereafter. Saul bent to help her clear away a space, pulling on the rougher ones to make sure everything was clear before she dug her trenches and planted the seeds. Soon enough, brightly coloured flowers would be blooming everywhere, under Ichikans windows, and they would have no idea who placed them there. Smiling softly, Saul followed his cousin as she completed her mission to bring colour back to Ichika once again.
