Ažuolas was glad things were getting off to a good start. He knew smiling would work; smiling made everyone relaxed, usually. His ears perked slightly at the dog's answer. He learned the hard way anyone saying 'uh' was never a good thing. Either someone didn't like him, want him, or was going to kill him. But this dog seemed too nice, surely they didn't hate him or want to kill him. Maybe the pack was having a hard time, it was to be expected. He hoped their troubles wouldn't stop them from letting him join. He had traveled far too long and too far to be turned down again. At least it's a quiet pack, he thought. I'm too young to deal with the fussings of others.

A curious look crossed his face at the mention of this Shadow. Až knew they must be the leader of the pack and slight annoyance entered his mind. He was hoping to meet the leader especially, only feeling he was joining a pack if he saw the leader first. He watched the dog, Smudge, watch out for the leader, and he sniffed the air. He huffed, remembering the wind was blowing away from him. If this Shadow dog is out there, he'd smell me first anyways.

Before he agree to the tour, his ears perked again and he quickly turned his head to the sound of a new bark. The fur on his shoulders had started to bristle, his instincts warning him to be wary of any and all. He bowed his head slightly to Shadow, wide eyes glancing quickly at the ground. The name's Ažuolas, but those who know me call me Až. Not that there were many dogs who knew the young Pyrenees. He looked over at Smudge, feeling sorry for the dog. But, one word from Shadow did catch his attention again. Co-leader? So a pack with two actual leaders? Interesting... He nodded to Shadow, glad to be accepted. Looking over to Smudge, he smiled. I'd like a tour of the area.

The tall, slender figure slunk quietly in the darkness to the top of a hill. He looked at the are below him, a light wind blowing the scent of many dogs too him. He shuddered, fearful of what may lay ahead, but also excited to see signs of a pack. He looked behind him, seeing nothing but an empty, lonely life. Today was the day he planned to leave that life. He looked back at the land beyond, trying to see any signs that could hint about what the pack would be like. The area looked mostly bare, but dogs could pop out anywhere. Taking a deep breath, the black Greyhound crouched and quickly stalked down the hill.

The scent became stronger as Byron moved in closer to the territory boundaries. His mind became filled with thoughts of worry; what to do if a dog came to fight, or how to talk a reluctant dog to letting him join. He thought about just waltzing in; he could easily outrun anyone who decided to attack. That would just make them suspicious of me, though, he thought. Nose close to the ground, he walked up just a few yards away from the scent markings. He raised his head, semi-pricked his ears, and barked--well, more squeaked. He was intent on joining the pack, but he was still cautious of whatever may happen if another dog comes.

The tall Bullmastiff stretched out his legs and shook his head as he felt the first few drops of rain penetrate his pelt. Looking up, the sky was a soft gray, but in the distance dark clouds tumbled along in the direction of the city. The smell of coal smoke was swept into the dog's nose, making his sneeze and growl. The train yard was an O.K. area for him, but the mastiff wanted a better place to live. Being three years now, he wished for a place to settle down without the necessaries of joining a pack, but loner life made that harder than he originally thought. He shivered in annoyance as the sound of a train whistle blew from a distance; another half mile and it would be pulling into the station. Not wanting to deal with the humans who would come to work and check on the train, the mastiff slunk off into the shadows.

The rain was coming down harder, but few drops could touch him underneath the platform. The dog pricked his ears and his eyes watched, emotionless, at the outside world. He couldn't believe it was still only his second day in the city, and already he was bored. He usually stayed in one area before moving on, hoping a pretty female would come along he could hang out with. The day he arrived it was hot and terribly humid; he could understand why no one would be out and about. But today was a mostly nice day until the rain came just now. The Bullmastiff thought of places he had smelled the most dogs; his lips lifting in a fierce snarl when packs came to mind. He had a lot of energy still stored, he wouldn't mind going out to fight some pack dogs. Laying his head on his paws and sighing, he watched for anyone, anything, to come.

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
