Hope tis good ^^ Words-600+

The Halcyon Mountains were unforgiving. The trees stood tall and the ground sloped heavily. Jaden could feel that slope. It pulled at him with every step he took. He ran as fast as he could and had been doing so for the past hour or two, taking minimal brakes to improve his speed. One day of running wouldn’t improve much but this he planned on making this a daily ritual.

The Shishen had scouted this ‘trail’ yesterday looking for natural obstacles to make his running more strenuous. Fallen rotting logs and large boulders obstructed the path he had marked through the Halcyon Mountains. Dodging and weaving were forced. Exhaustion was inevitable. The Alaskan wolf was overheating but he still ran.

Coming up on the half way point of his run, Jaden shifted from lupus to Secui in mid movement and felt the carrying strap for his satchel tighten around his neck. On the last up hill climb Jaden then stopped to shift to his Optime form. He unpacked his dagger, bow, quiver, and the few arrows he could carry from the satchel and quickly equipped them before continuing his assent.

The last bit of this natural obstacle course was the most difficult. Being in his Optime form now, Jaden had more than just his legs to work out. To compensate for this change, a few new climbing oriented areas had been added to the trail. One such area involved the wolf having to scale thirty foot tree high enough to jump off and clear a vertical ten foot rock incline. Another was twenty five feet of plain free hand rock climbing, which he almost toppled off of due to exhaustion, but cleared and was nearly to the mountain’s summit.

The higher air pressure didn’t do a whole lot for Jaden’s incredible panting once he could see the amazing view that cast over the Dampwoods and beyond, but the cooler air did a lot for his heated body. Deciding that this was, after all, his first day working out and that since he felt like he might pass out if he continued for much longer, the man caught his breath and decided to cool down.

After admiring the view for a few minutes though, Jaden continued down the mountain. Sliding in the duff where he could and using trees limbs to swing off of and clear small drops. Going down the mountain on two legs ended up being more difficult than climbing up. When the ground finally began to level out Jaden knew his running was thankfully complete.

But his training wasn’t done. Drawing his short bow as he jogged into a clearing, the Shishen didn’t even stop to catch his breath again. Six trees had “x” marks on them which had been made by the man himself. They were targets. Stopping sixty feet away from the marked trees, he began to fire arrow after arrow. Stand tall, straiten the body, string an arrow, pull back, and release: Jaden exaggerated each movement. The sound of sharp impacts echoed through the trees and, after a few moments, all eight arrows Jaden had brought with him were imbedded into something. One had glanced off the second of the six trees and one had missed completely, flying off to the right of the last.

Now he was finished. Dropping his bow and practically stumbling out of the ruthless sunlight that lit the clearing, the Ichikan found a seat next to one of his target trees which was nicely shaded. He fell heavily against it and let his head fall back too, exposing his crimson dyed throat and allowing for better air intake. His heart beat thudded in his ears and he could feel the heat radiating off his dark coat. The male lost focus on the forest around him as he concentrated on his strained body. He relaxed and slowly his breath began to return.

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

Apologies for the epic wait! Had a lot to deal with in reality. Sad

Lucia had stood there in the shadows for what seemed like a lifetime. Having been rudely torn from her sleep, another nightmare in her head, she had taken a small stroll through the woods. Though it was now technically her home, she still hadn’t explored all of it, and after a while, had come to a halt at the base of the mountains. She had stayed there for a while, staring at the birds and clouds that licked the top of the behemoth, but she was soon ready to leave. However, just as her legs began to turn her back toward the woods, something caught her eye. There was a male slightly higher up the mountain, though not too far from her location. He seemed to be doing some sort of obstacle course.

Figuring he might slip and fall, Lucia had stayed, watching silently and out of sight. She had very little respect for males these days, having had her heart destroyed by her only love, so this was no different. Her mind ached for some chaos, some sort of justice. Even though he wasn’t her precious Snake, she could pretend. She could imagine. If only he would fall or have some sort of injury, it would all be worthwhile.

Unfortunately, he seemed to do none of the things that Lucia had wanted. It appeared as though it was all very easy. There had been moments where he had come across wobbly on his feet perhaps, cold giggles escaping Lucia’s mouth, but nothing had come of it. Now it seemed he had stopped, not too far from where she leant against one of the many large trees. Sliding slightly more into the shadows, her emerald coals stared dangerously. What was he doing? What would she do? …And then the arrows came out.

The first few had clearly missed her, swooping past her and landing somewhere in the twisted trees behind her. Yet, the last one headed straight toward her. Dodging it by mere seconds, it buried itself in the bark of the tree that she had once been comfortably leaning on. Snarling angrily under her breath, Lucia went to confront him, but she paused. He was on the move, stumbling in her general direction.

Stepping backward, he had taken a seat right in front of her. His back facing her, his crimson painted throat clearly visible. Part of her wanted to sneak up behind him and just slit it. Silently, secretly – but she stopped herself. She was certain he hadn’t seen her, so perhaps all her paranoid illusions that the arrow was specifically meant for her was wrong. Either way, she wanted to find out. She needed to put her mind to rest.

Slivering from the shadows, she stood directly behind him. She wanted to place a hand on his shoulder for added effect, but didn’t. Instead she simply parted her mouth and spoke, tone raspy and distorted from her recent binging of cigarettes. She hoped he would be caught off guard, hoped he would be frightened. That would be some sort of justice for her pain… at least for now anyway.

“You should watch it next time! That last one almost hit me in the damn eye! Aren’t you arrow-shooters supposed to be observant? …Bah! What a load of crap!

Lucia was lucky she hadn’t put a hand upon the exhausted wolf. If there was something Jaden hated nearly as much as deep water, it was being surprised. As such, a hand or any other body part to come in contact with Jaden would have most likely been twisted into an uncomfortable position or smacked away quickly. The shadowy female’s words did quite well in scare the living daylights out of the man though.

His breath had almost returned and Jaden was about to bring his focus back in when the words struck out. The Dampwoods had seemed silent and peaceful before them and their existence was wrong and shocking. He pushed off his resting place and spun to face Lucia. The movement was visibly difficult for him as he stood upon weak knees again. Jaden was exhausted and now slightly agitated as his heart pounded quickly in his chest.

Lucia received an angry and questioning glare to start that slowly melted into one of apology. The thought Nearly a clean kill without even seeing her resonated within the black and red wolf’s mind darkly, but he was nevertheless prepared to apologize for his carless archery. That is until the fae began to insult Jaden’s observation skills.

Being a former assassin and having trained hard to be observant as well as stealthy and sly, an insult to these skills hit a nerve. Had the two wolves met in a less shocking way and had Jaden been given time to collect himself before speaking, he may not have responded immediately with anger. But as they were, bitter words were the first thing to push past his now slightly bared teeth, “I’m not observant!? Did you fail to notice the first seven arrows I let go before ‘that last one’? Or that the wolf you just surprised is carrying sharp weapons he could have sent flying your direction? Maybe next time someone shoots in you’re general direction, you should speak, move your petite little ass out of the way, and hope they’re not trying to hit you on purpose.”

Jaden does. "Jaden speaks." Jaden thinks.

Enjoyed your post Smile ...Lucia's a flirt! XD

Amusement riddled the face of the ebony female. She had found deep satisfaction in startling this unknown male. Still somewhat deeply seeded within her, despite Zalen’s influence, Lucia’s hatred flowed comfortably in her veins. She stood firmly, muscles occasionally twitching under her dark fur. She had met his angry glare with eyes that danced in mischief and enjoyment. There was a psychotic fire flickering within those coals. It was going to be an interesting evening it seemed.

Even when words began to pour from the male’s mouth, Lucia didn’t seem to stir from her position. Instead, she almost seemed elsewhere. She was, in fact, thinking as to why his eyes seemed so hypnotising. She couldn’t take her sight off them, even with all the hostility in the air. Lucia was entertained by it, confused also. Was her hatred for males spurring on her libido? It seemed plausible. If only Snake could see her now.

“I didn’t fail at anything,”
Her reply was blunt, tone quieter than before. Despite the pleasure received from the whole ordeal, Lucia’s mind had decided to take things to a different level. It seemed like there could be a challenge in the making here, and she was never one to turn that down. “I did see the other arrows. Impressive, if you don’t mind my say so.” She paused, trying to pick her next words carefully. This was all a game to her right now. She wanted to toy with him. “Oh, and just for the record,” a tiny flirtatious smile crept onto her lips, that bizarre fire still lingering in her gaze. “For you to state that I have a petite little ass would mean you were looking.” She paused one more time, trying so hard not to break out into a bestial smile. Her lip twitched, and her body turned ever so slightly to allow him a better view. She waved her tail with exaggerated femininity. “Do you like it Mister?”

Enjoyed yours too. LOL!

300+!

As Jaden spoke angrily, he watched this ebony female. Her emerald eyes seemed to envelope most of his perception, but to what point he couldn’t really tell. Truly, he couldn’t read the expression—in his angered state—of her odd interest in his dark blue gaze. All he read was a lack of attention being given to his agitated words and it helped to no end in keeping him pissed off while waiting for an answer.

What Jaden expected was anger and spiteful words to be bashed against his sudden but weak anger. It was needed to keep his temper ablaze. If she wanted to go down that path he could easily draw his dagger and subdue her. Maybe he’d leave some nice bruises and cuts to remind her not to be such a pain in the ass next time.

But that’s not what he got. In the place of anger, he received complements. In the place of spite, he received flirtatious looks and words. This fae was acting odd and the Shishen could see something burning in her eyes that couldn’t be read but he was suddenly too confused, caught off guard, and distracted to respond anyway. All he could muster was a disapproving huff and crossed arms, but his gaze drifted up and down the attractively petite ebony frame presented to him and undoubtedly gave away his true thoughts.

It took Jaden a few seconds to actually compose a worded response and the only way he could was by disregarding her question completely, “My name is Jaden,” he said still sounding a little agitated. Since she hadn’t refueled his anger the man was little more than slightly annoyed and realized he was the one at fault for assuming anyone caught in his firing range would say something before he shot at them. As such he asked, “Are you hurt?” a little curtly and added a small open palm gesture from his crossed arms to show genuine concern despite his temperament.
