Val got lost! Poor Val! 437 words, oh my.

Valinta wandered around the new pack she lived in, Anathema. The pack was now her home, and she was doing her best to learn it. Unfortunately, this attempt was met with a roadblock. The woman had almost no sense of direction, not in the caves. She had been fine until the daylight went away and the heat became cool, and she had wandered into the rather imposing dens.

It was a matrix of homes and common areas, places for people to rest and relax, places for those same people to prepare meals and feast. The extensive cave system was imposing and terrified the small female; accustomed as she was to life aboveground. It wasn’t as though she had a fear of enclosed spaces – no, it was rather her fear of being separated from her son.

Of course, it wasn’t really a fear that scared her, it was more or less just a fear that worried her. If she wasn’t around, what would happen to her little boy? He wandered off enough as it was, and if she were gone… Who knew what kinds of trouble the kid would get into?

Breathing in deeply, then letting out a sigh, Valinta leaned against one of the cool walls as she tried to make a sense of her surroundings. She was smelling lots of food, so she was either by the kitchen or the storage areas… Or maybe someone was just in their den with some food of their own.

Scowling, the chocolate-furred female lifted her nose to try and discern something different from the oppressive smell of food, and then gave up. It would do no good; she was terribly, horribly lost. And there wasn’t much she could do about it, either, considering her absolute newness to the pack and to these lands in general.

Taking a few steps to the east (or was it west?), Valinta turned her head at an intersection, to the north (or was it south?). She turned her head to the south (or was it north?) and then back again, attempting to decide a direction.

Ambling in the southern direction, the right, the female lifted her head to look at the ceilings so high above her. They were amazing, the fact that nature could provide homes as wonderful as these caves.

Abruptly stopping, Valinta hit a wall she hadn’t noticed. Rubbing her muzzle, she began to tear up a little, out of the dull pain, out of frustration, out of anger at herself and worry for Gunnar. Sitting down, she wiped her eyes and scowled, trying to figure out where the hell she was.

He wasn't the sort to patrol. Underground, there was no need, but he still enjoyed exploration, as much as a man who ignored the simple pleasures in life could. Silence overtook him as he walked, flipping through a book that held his scratchy, illegible handwriting — a journal of sorts, that allowed him to relive what he had gone through under the Tribunal. Soon, it would be used for better purposes, but for now it housed memories. And these memories allowed him to wander aimlessly without recognizing the world.

Further into the caves he went, ears still tuned into the sounds of the pack; most were familiar to him, but a dull thud caused his head to lift from his reading. Something had...fallen? Vague curiosity getting the better of him, he pressed onward, closing the flesh bound book to keep his attention on the source of the strange noise. It took a moment to find it — she'd managed to lose herself in one of the many unmapped regions — but there she was: the small, brown woman he'd 'greeted' at the borders. Valinta, yes? Yes, Valinta. His nose wrinkled slightly at the sight of her, but because she had passed from the outside and into the family, he did not turn away. Instead, he leaned on a nearby stone wall, red eyes focused on her as she scowled. "They can be overwhelming." His tone was, as it always was, void of feeling and rather soft, but booming in the empty caves.

XD. 307 words.

Valinta looked up, the scowl still on her face, to see who it was that found her. The hulking man from before, who disapproved of her and Gunnar at the border. She didn’t know her name, and as the scowl grew worse, she realized she didn’t want to know his name. Mostly because… Well, because he was a dick to her before and she was getting into the habit of holding grudges.

As the female steadily tried to rein in feelings of negativity – wanting to enjoy being in her new home – the male leaned against a nearby wall and said how the caves could be overwhelming. The chocolate-furred woman nodded in agreement. The caverns were very overwhelming, as if the Anathemans would only accept those who didn’t manage to lose themselves in them and die.

"Very confusing.” she whispered, and then curled her legs up against her chest. "I have no sense of direction anymore.” The scowl returned as she looked at her knees, covered in the thinner fur of summer. Her lower lip twitched slightly, and then the yellow orbs shimmered.

Abruptly standing up, Valinta launched herself at the male and wrapped her arms around his leg (the only area she could really reach) and started sobbing. Loudly.

All over the poor man’s leg. "The caves are so confusing and I’m lost and I’m worried about Gunnar and I don’t know how you guys do this!” she wailed against the black fur, forgetting that not only three days ago, the man she cried on didn’t like her at all and advised Naniko against her joining.

"Could you help me to the commons?” the small woman asked almost pitifully, sniffling. The fur of his leg was soaked now, and she didn’t noticed as she still clutched at him, like a small child afraid of losing their mother.
