July 2nd into July 3rd. Spirit Guide thread. c: Read only. 700+ words.

It had come as a shock to learn that Dahlia de Mai had disbanded. She had been born there and had called it home for the first few months of her life. Her mother had called it home for quite some time before that, and so much had happened for the Monroe matriarch that Foxglove considered Dahlia de Mai a staple in her life. She had never expected to return there to live, true, but she had never expected to find it simply... Gone.

This left her with another problem to face, too, as she had been hoping against all hope that Magnolia had returned to Dahlia de Mai after leaving the kingdom that their father lived in. Unless she had gone there and moved with them, which seemed unlikely as the one who had told her they had moved did not know of her, then she had gone somewhere else. Foxglove did not even have the faintest idea of where she should begin looking for her sister, but she knew she had to find her. It was frustrating to not know where to look.

As night had fallen, she had remained in the fields that Dahlia de Mai had once claimed, resting against one of the old grave stones while she watched the champagne mare graze a little ways off. She considered her options, unsure of where to start. It all seemed hopeless. "Damn!" she yelled, hugging her knees tightly to her chest. The blonde wolfdog buried her face against her arms, pink nose pressed into the warm fur of her knees as she folded in on herself.

She did not notice the small bird until it landed on the grave marker that she rested her back against. Eyes of deep jade studied it as she turned in response to its chirp; she was startled by its sudden appearance, and she had never seen a bird like this before. It was small, brown and white and black, and seemed to move with such speed and agility, even perched on the stone. It seemed to be studying her the same way she studied it, its head tilted oddly as it looked at her.

"All is not hopeless," came a voice, and the blonde wolfdog started. She looked about wildly, confused about the location of the voice. It was so late, nearly dawn, and she had been under the impression that she was alone, save the champagne mare. Her gaze returned to the bird as if to ask him where the voice had come from, but she could almost read his expression as bemused. "Did you...?" She trailed off at the end of the words, unsure of how to ask a bird if it had just talked to her. That was completely absurd... Wasn't it?

Apparently, though, the bird did not think this was as ridiculous as she did, because he flitted off the stone and landed on her knee. "I am Szellem, and you are no longer alone, Foxglove Monroe," the small bird spoke, and Foxglove looked at him curiously, understanding setting in and falling over her delicate features. She knew the word he spoke as a name; it meant spirit in the only other language she could speak. This small bird was her very own spirit guide, come to her when she felt more hopeless than ever. Her inability to find her sister had called the spirits to her and now, she was truly not alone.

"You seek your sister," Szellem said knowingly, and Foxglove nodded meekly. They had come again to speak of why she felt so alone in the first place. "She lives in a newer pack to the north and east, a very secretive place. You will find her there, though I cannot tell you anything of how she is. We will set off in the afternoon." Foxglove felt reassured now that she had Szellem to guide her, and she felt certain she would find Magnolia soon.

"Thank you," she said quietly, lowering herself to lay on her side. She would need to rest before the journey, and Szellem had seemingly already planned for that by deciding that they would be leaving in the afternoon. She felt herself drifting, knowing she would be safe where she was.
