An unnamed stranger had told him about the dark land of the coyotes not too long ago. Now that the mystery was solved about his mother (oh, how Tayui would pay one day…), he hadn’t must reason to stick around in this area of the world. But he was old, and a man not able to make long distance trips any longer. This last one was almost the end of him, but he had managed to stick it out. Inferni seemed interesting, and it piqued Helix’s interest from the moment he heard about it. After years and years of being surrounded by wolves the crazy man knew his madness came from the coyote in him. His father was a dog/coyote mix and for the few months he knew him, he was nothing like the sweet, innocent wolf of a mother Helix had had. He knew where his darkness came from. The cult of the coyotes called to him.
Helix had found the shadowed lands a few months ago when he first came into Halifax. The smell was incredibly distinguishable and he knew by the way the territory was marked these evil things meant business. The heads of wolves on spikes made the loner laugh with a maniacal glee. He looked more coyote than wolf, because of the heavy dog influence he had in his blood. Perhaps he could join Inferni, and live out the rest of his life with a different kind of company than the one he had when he was a younger man.
Helix had left at the crack of dawn from his home on the outskirts of Halifax. The journey had taken almost all day because his aching, cracking bones slowed him down considerably. The heatwave they had just experienced had tired the old man out quite a bit. The trip was uneventful and quiet and was over just as the sun started sinking into the mountains. The spikes were there as always, and the crazy man just shook his head in amusement before letting out a raspy, tired howl.
