Having spent the better part of the previous day in the rain, Melee had made a point of sleeping in the sunshine the next day. It did not agitate her that the sun was out as much as it had when it had stretched out across days – perhaps even a week – because she had soaked in the rain’s peace. Now, she was fully enjoying and appreciating the heat of the morning. It meant that she could return to a more peaceful version of herself. Not that, overall, Melee was a wholly tranquil wolf. As a matter of fact, it wasn’t a word that described her well except when she was soaking in the inner peace that storms brought to her. Today she would be her usual spunky, outgoing, enthusiastic and energetic self. She had just needed that day of tranquility to pull her back from the dark places where her mind had gone in recent days. It felt good to come back from that, she felt more like herself than she had in weeks. Her smile was genuine and her heart was light; life was good.

Today was not a day to stay in the pack; her feet were anxious to get her outside of the pack’s lands and into the neutral territories, where she might see someone other than wolves who already knew her. By the time she lazily roused from her room and decided to head out, her family was already about their business. Though she had half a mind to seek out Range and see if he wanted to tag along, the stronger part of her was excited at the prospect of going out on her own. It meant that she could go wherever she wanted to go and seek out the areas that she wanted to explore, without needing to take consideration for what Range might want to do or where he might want to go. Another day, she would seek out her brother and they could go out together for a day of adventuring. Today, though, she would go it alone... at least initially. Her aim was to find someone outside of the pack who might have interesting conversations or adventures to be had.

When she exited her pack lands, the girl’s tail was waving jovially, her ears perked forward and her tongue lolling out for a moment in her excitement. It was nice to get out and about. With all the goings-on lately, she hadn’t really had much time to just enjoy herself and get out. It felt like she had been stuck in the packlands and in her apartment for ages, though she couldn’t recall how much time it had actually been. New smells entered her nose; unfamiliar sights were just waiting to be seen. There were plants to find and bring home, plants that might not grow within her pack’s own lands. She was excited at the prospect of meeting someone new or perhaps seeing a new neutral territory that she hadn’t visited before. She was young yet, and there was much that she had to see and learn about still. Melee intended to know it all someday, which was a goal as ambitious as the girl herself.

With no real purpose or reason, the girl all of a sudden started to run. It was nice to run in a form where her deformity didn’t affect her ability to move. The first time that she had shifted, she had thrilled in the way that it equaled the playing field between her and other members of the Luperci. In her Lupus form, she noticed her deformed paw so much more. In this form, it only came up on occasion. Many still noticed – it was hard not to notice, after all – but she didn’t need it for regular things. Things like running, walking, and even picking things up were easier without the defect. Her other six-fingered hand could pick it up just as easily. Only things that needed two hands were impacted by the loss of her second paw. It rarely happened that she had to deal with that problem, but she always adapted when it did happen. Just as she had adapted to all of the issues that came up in her Lupus form, so she had learned to adapt to different things in her Optime form. Melee Soul would never let it be said that her birth defect had slowed her down in any way. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, after all.

YAY! <3

Scorpius had to admit that Anathema was feeling less like a home than he had liked. He barely had any friends, relations with his family were not going so well, and his maps didn't seem like they were being used. Perhaps he should show some of the newer ones that he made to his mother and see what she thought of them. He dared not to go near his father on the count of that it might spark another arguement. He sighed as he rested in his cave and stared at the walls. He had spent too much time indoors and should be outside. At least the last time that he was out he was able to meet someone he liked and even got a lesson out of it. Maybe he would be able to find something if he went out this time. He sighed as he sat up and reached for his bag, the necklace he picked out slipped out of the bag and sat next to him. His ruby gaze moved over as he picked it up and gave a small smile. He placed it back in the bag before getting up and heading out of the exit of the caves.

The black male sighed and covered his eyes as he made his way out the back of the caves and into the light. It took a moment before his eyes got used to the sun. He should really have been outside more inside of working on the maps, though he had to keep to his duties. He could feel the sun shining on his dark fur and reflecting off the mask that he wore on his face. It was nice to feel the soft earth beneath his paws as he made his way out of the Anathema pack territory. He wondered where he would be able to go. He would like to go to the coast, though maybe he should go back near the foothills where he met Saul not too long ago. He sighed as he decided to make his way near the foothills and rest there. He was sure he would find a nice quiet place along the way.

Scorpius stopped once he came to the valley. He could feel some grass under his paws and it felt real nice. He stopped on a nearby root and set his bag down. He closed his eyes as he turned his head towards the sky. It was so peaceful out here. He should remember to come back here some other time. After a few moments, his ears moved up as he thought he heard something nearby. He quickly grabbed his bag and made his way in the direction of the noise. He soon stopped behind a tree and noticed the chocolate she wolf he had thought he had been searching for. Was it really who he thought it was. A warm smile came to his face as he stood beside the tree and watched her run. He followed her quietly, waiting for her to take a break before making himself known. He stood beside the tree, leaning on it gently. "Melee? Is that you?"

Melee enjoyed the breathlessness that running caused in her. The way that her lungs burned with the crispness of the air around her, and all of her muscles felt warm from the exercise. Like all good things, eventually it had to come to an end. It wasn't as if she really wanted to run forever, though. Even if she wasn't forced to stop by her breathing and her muscles, the girl would need to stop eventually because she would grow bored. As much as she enjoyed running, she enjoyed walking to enjoy the world as well. She couldn't run and enjoy the world, really, everything went by at too much of a blur. That wasn't a way that anyone could live their lives forever. Although wolves might metaphorically try to run away from the world, it would always catch up with them eventually.

Her breath was coming out of her in quick, harried puffs when she heard the voice. Immediately, she spun around and her heart leaped up into her throat. The girl's teeth were bared in a growl, her ears flat in silent defensiveness. Unknowingly, she had also crouched slightly and pulled her deformed forepaw into her body as if to protect it. Only... it wasn't a threat that she faced. The voice was familiar, the words were welcomed, and the face that she saw made her mouth gape open in surprise. The last wolf that she had expected to see on her journey today was Scorpius. The boy that she had met when they were both so young, who had been warned against seeing her by his mother... yet here he was, in the flesh, and she couldn't help but grin as soon as she had recovered her wits.

"Scorpius!" she replied giddily, stepping forward with her tail wagging and her bi-toned gaze looking across his body happily. He had grown. Though she had never seen him before in his Optime form, so perhaps that was what was strange about it. He was standing on two legs, and he was muscular, and ... she might have blushed, had she been capable of such a thing. As it was, her ears twisted a bit in an almost embarrassed way after she had looked him up and down rather quickly. It had been so long since she had seen him! It was strange to think of him as this lean, well-toned adolescent instead of the puppy that he had been. Melee moved forward to grab him into a hug; if he moved away, she likely wouldn't pursue, but the affectionate brown Soul wolf wanted to hug him tight. Almost as if to confirm for herself that he was even real and he was there.

If he let her hug him, then she would hug him tight then let him go so that she could look up at his face again. If he moved to not allow her to hug him, then she would likely just stand there kind of awkwardly. Either way she had much to ask. "It's been too long! I haven't seen you in... wow, ages. How have you been? What have you been up to? What're you doing out here?" the flurry of questions burst from her mouth, a river of words that she hoped didn't drown him. She smiled apologetically, knowing that sometimes her eagerness could be overwhelming. Melee figured he would respond to whatever he wanted and then they could go on from there. Besides, what mattered was that he was here with her! A day that had already been going rather well was now the best day. She could think of nothing that would make a day better than being reunited with Scorpius.

Scorpius enjoyed watching Melee as she ran around. He had almost forgotten what it was like to be around someone with such an out going attitude. It seemed like most of the wolves in Anathema were never like this. All of them were weighted down by the culture and were very serious about it. Being the simple map maker that he was, he didn't pay much attention to the customs unless it came from the cerimonies. He gave a small sigh and continued to watch her even as she took her break. He couldn't help but smile. He did pause for a moment as it took her time to notice him, though he was happy to see she had not forgotten who he was. He could see it in her eyes.

He watched as the brown she wolf came over and wrapped her arms around him. It took him a moment to retain his focus before he turned his ruby gaze down to her. He couldn't help but return the embrace and move his arms around her. His smile returned to his face as he took a moment to close her eyes and take in her scent. It was not much different from the first time that he had met her. He moved her arms away gently for a moment so that he would be able to sit down and removed the bag from his shoulder. He didn't want to stand the whole time unless they were walked, though since this was a reunion, it probably would be nicer if they sat down together and took a moment to see how each other was doing.

Scorpius' attention moved back to Melee as she began to speak, asking him questions about how he had been and what he had been doing. He rested his arms on her wasit as he began to speak. "It has been too long. I've missed you." He paused as he took a moment to answer the many questions that she had for him. "I've been doing fine. I have become an adult in Anathema so I've been busier with my duties. I make maps of the inner workings of the caves." He would like to show her the maps that he had been working on, though he didn't want to reveal too much information about the pack. He trusted Melee, though he had the safety of his own pack to keep in mind in case something were to happen. He gazed around as he stretched out his legs. "I came here to get away from the pack really. I met with your uncle out here not too long ago. He taught me how to ride a horse. I came out here hoping to find someone and I did." He smiled to her before looking back forward. "So what brings you out here Melee? Anything special?" Today was really going to be a fantastic day, he could feel it. He was glad he brought the little gift that he was holding onto for the she wolf. He was sure it would be the perfect way to end their day.

Melee soaked in his presence like she would soak in the rain from a storm. He was familiar in a way that was strange to her, because it was so easy to remember. They hadn't spent their childhoods side-by-side like she had with Range, but there was an ease and a warmth that had been there between them since they first met. It was why she hadn't been able to stay away, even when Naniko had told Scorpius not to see her anymore. It was why she was so delighted to see him now, and it was why she trusted him wholly despite scarcely knowing him, when it came right down to it. Even his scent was familiar. It reminded her of the earth, rain storms, and the dampness of grass coated with dew in the morning. That probably had nothing at all to do with Anathema's scent or Scorpius's personal scent. It had to do with the perceptions that she had about him. These were the feelings that he brought to the forefront when she saw him, the emotions that he evoked.

Looking up at him, she felt warm inside, deep down in her insides. She didn't know what to make of that, it was puzzling and different from when they had first met. It made her feel shy, suddenly, but she forced down that feeling rather quickly. No matter what had happened since they had last met, this was still Scorpius and there was no reason to feel withdrawn or shy around him. He was still her friend and he would want her to act like herself. That was what made them friends, who they were. Being shy and withdrawn would be against her nature, it certainly wasn't what she or Scorpius would want. As they sat down, she sat close to him, still warmed by his presence. Happy to be back with him after so long.

"I've missed you too." she said affectionately, before raising her ears to listen to the answers he had for her questions. In the time they had been apart, Scorpius had been learning a lot. Melee was almost ashamed that she didn't have as many interesting tales to tell. Certainly she didn't have such a fascinating job as map maker. "That's amazing that you can draw maps of your pack's caves, I could never do such delicate drawing." she remarked, truly impressed by this skill. The Soul girl was also interested to learn that Saul had been teaching Scorpius to ride. That was something that she hadn't heard about, and she made a note that she needed to ask her uncle about that.

As to his own question, she shrugged lightly. "No real intention, I was just thinking of doing some adventuring or maybe finding some new plants to bring into my pack's lands. I also wanted to get out of the pack lands... I have been sticking around home too much." she chewed on her lower lip for a moment, wondering if she should tell him... "My dad, he recently got a mate. It's been kind of... weird ever since." she confessed. Something that she hadn't told anyone yet, her discomfort with the relationship between Gideon and Nayru. Yet somehow it seemed natural to tell Scorpius.

Scorpius soaked in the warmth and comfort of being with his friend again. He knew his mother had told him never to come back and see her again, and he almost listened; though, he missed his friend and could not bare to be away from her. What other friends did he have where he would be able to do something like this? He was glad to see that she was just as happy as he was. He would like today to go smoothly and made sure that he made no mistakes. Considering that he was now with her again, he began to feel a bit more paranoid. He wanted to make sure he was not interupted by his mother again. When Melee was not looking, he took a moment to gaze around the area. He tried to sniff for others, though the scent of his old friend was filling his nose. He closed his eyes for a moment before looking back to the she wolf and smiling to her. He didn't want to show her the feeling of paranoia for their safety. Who knew what would happen if hs mother found him again and with Melee. He didn't want to think of it, so he kept his smile to mask it.

The black male may have been doing more things in his life, though he really wanted to learn more about Melee. Surely she had been doing something in the time that they had been apart. He smiled as she commented on his map making. He gave a small chuckle before looking to her. "You could always learn. I could teach you if you wanted. It wouldn't be any trouble for me to do so." He swayed his tail gently back and forth as he watched Melee's expression as he too spoke about his lesson with Saul. It looked like she would like to learn as well. Perhaps if he were able to visit her pack, they could have a lesson together. He assumed he was welcome by Saul's offer of him to join the pack.

Scorpius' ears moved up as the chocolate she wolf began to speak again, saying that she hadn't really come out here for a reason and wanted to just get away from the pack, though what surprised him a bit more was that she was uncomfortable about her father having gotten married. He gave her a small frown before speaking. "Why would that be uncomfortable? Aren't you happy for your dad?" The same could not be said though for his father. He had changed and he soon felt the hate again. The words his father had said to him burned in his mind, more so the one concerning his accident. What kind of father wished for his own son to be dead? He made a fist with his free hand as he soon loosened up and looked back to his company. He did not want to worry Melee, nor bother her with his problems. He would rahter make her feel better instead.

Melee was unaware of the paranoia that her friend had about his mother. Naniko's warning was part of what had kept the Soul wolf away from trying to find Scorpius, but it wasn't close to her mind at that moment. To her, his mother was a faraway matter to be considered later. Their future meetings would need to be carefully planned to be away from the Anathema lands. They were older now, though, so she doubted that Naniko was keeping as close of tabs on her older son. Perhaps - if Melee was lucky - she even had new puppies to corral and worry about. Then her intention to see Scorpius would be easier. All of these things would occur to her later, but not right then. All she was thinking about was how good it was to see him after so long. She also knew that she didn't want to wait as long between seeing each other as they had this time. The spirited girl would make sure that they had a plan to meet again at a near date as soon as this meeting was over.

When he said that he would teach her to draw maps, Melee smiled broadly. She leaned up to bump her nose into his chin in an appreciative gesture for his offer. "I would love that! I still don't think I could do it that well, but I would like to try." she replied, excited at the idea. In truth, she had never really tried all that hard to draw. Perhaps she could be better at it if she had a tutor. Besides, anything that created another reason for her to see Scorpius was always going to be a positive thing in her book. It would be good to have a map of all of her pack's lands, anyway. They could use it to teach new members about all of the different locations and perhaps they could also use it for planning. Maybe if she couldn't learn how to do it, her pack would be alright with letting Scorpius map out their pack. Unlike some of the other local packs, Ichika no Ho-en had a more peaceable atmosphere. Allowing an outsider to enter the pack and map its landscape could still potentially be hazardous to the pack's health. She might need to run it past Saul or her father or perhaps even Nayru. After all, as much as she trusted Scorpius, that didn’t mean that everyone else did or that she should let him in on pack knowledge. Little did she know that her concerns mirrored his own about the maps of Anathema that he needed to be cautious in showing her.

She winced slightly at his confusion to her discomfort about Nayru. This was why she hadn't brought it up with anyone else; they would all think her silly for the thoughts that churned through her head. Her fingers rose to run through her mane in an anxious gesture, her bi-toned gaze looking down at her feet. Subconsciously, she crossed her arms over her legs in a defensive, self-protective gesture. "I guess it is kind of silly... it's just that I worry it will change everything. I've never had a mother before and I don't want one. I kind of thought it was fine how it was. Just dad, Range, Saul and me. Now he'll have Nayru, though, and so he won't need us as much anymore. Maybe when he has puppies with her, he won't even want us around that much. I mean, we aren't even his blood children." these were all of the worries that had eaten away at her gut, churning over and over in her head at night. It wasn't logical, she knew that. Deep down, Melee knew that Gideon wasn't going to abandon her. It didn't stop the fear or the worrying, though. No matter how much she wished it did.

Scorpius smiled as he watched the she wolf move her nose to his chin and said she would love to learn from him, though she was still doubting herself. As he looked to her, he moved his fingers up to her hair and gently brushed it away. "I'm sure you'll be great at it Melee." He looked to her with his warm smile, pushing the strands of her hair to the side. What on earth was he doing. Surely just friends would not be acting in such a way to each other. He quickly moved his hand away and back to his side, though his smile remained. His mind went back to the topic at hand. He was sure he would be able to teach Melee well and that despite her disablility, would do just fine in making her first map. Perhaps it would be able to help out her pack and he would able to keep the ones he had made for Anathema safe. To be honest, he should have just left them at home.

The black male's ears moved down as his friend whinced to his questions and looked down. He now regretted bringing it up and was going to apologize, though she began to speak again, pouring out her worries to the masked wolf. He rubbed her side gently as he spoke. "That doesn't sound silly to me. I can understand why you're worried. I'm sure any child would feel that way if someone new stepped into their life." It was much like how he felt the worry for his mother after his father returned. She hoped she'd push him away like he had. He gently moved his finger under her chin the move her gaze back to him. "Though, you should talk to your Dad about it. He should know you feel worried about it. If things don't get better though, you can always come see me. I enjoy your company Melee." He hoped she did not look away from him this time and would take his advice. He was not sure if he should take his own advice or not. She probably still liked his Dad and he would only make relations worse if he brought up the hate towards him to his mother. Perhaps sometimes it was better to be quiet.

Scorpius sat up more as he tried to think of something they could do together. He soon thought of something since he noticed Melee running before. He stood up and began to shift into his lupus form. It had been so long since he had been in this form, though now was a good time to be in it. It was like he was a pup once again. He turned back towards the chocolate she wolf and swayed his tail. "Shall we go for a run? It's been so long since we last ran together and could really stretch out my legs." The ebony wolf looked to his bag and hid it in a tall patch of grass. he was sure it would be safe there until the two wolves returned here. He made not of this place so he didn't forget it.

The brush of his fingers against her fur made the girl's skin tingle, her head canting slightly to the side almost shyly. It wasn't that she was consciously hiding her face, but the touch sent electricity shooting unexpectedly through her. Her heart was beating faster, a thump thump thump rhythm against her chest instead of the steady thump thump pause thump thump that it usually made. His words were almost lost in the sound of her heartbeat in her ears. Surely it wasn't as loud to him as it was to her, but she wondered if he could sense the heightened rate of her pulse. They were predators, after all, she wouldn't be surprised if he could see the way that her heart rate had skyrocketed at his touch. Her response to his words were a tad delayed, but it was still present. "I sure hope so. At least you'll be teaching me." by which she meant at least she would get to spend time with him. That was a positive thing, even if it ended up she couldn't draw maps well.

The conversation about her father's wedding had certainly slowed her pulse back to normal. His words were comforting and he didn't seem to think that she was foolish for what she had felt. That helped to soothe her nerves somewhat, at least. When he lifted her chin, her heart sparked briefly at the touch again, though her pulse seemed to maintain its regular pace after that jolt. Her mismatched gaze met his own, though she felt like she shouldn't be looking into his eyes. Wolves in general had a bit of a concern about when their gazes locked. However, Scorpius and Melee were equals. So she allowed her chin to remain settled for the moment against his fingers. Her bright gaze locked on his, her lips curving slightly in an appreciative smile. "You're right. I'll try to tell him. I just need to get him alone. I don't want to hurt Nayru's feelings or my dad's. I'm sure it will turn out alright." she remarked, moving her head to lick appreciatively at his cheek.

When he pulled away from her, she was disappointed. The absence of his fur and warmth alongside her was missed. As the girl noticed what he was doing though, she lowered herself onto the ground. She didn't want to be in a different form from her friend, so she immediately started to focus on shifting into her lupus form as well. By the time she had finished shifting, he had been done for a moment. She raised her ears expectantly, interested by his plan. He had the advantage in their current form, because he didn't have a messed up paw. However, she had always had her paw like that. So she supposed it wasn't really a disadvantage. "As long as you aren't scared to be outpaced by a girl with a deformed paw." she teased, her eyes light and her tail wagging. Hoping her friend wouldn't take her jesting pride negatively. That was just Melee's sense of humor.

Ooc.

Scorpius felt like he could not control his actions as he was brushing away her hair. He liked gazing into her bi-colored eyes and the sparkle that he was able to catch in them. He could see the surprised look in her face. He was just as surprised as she was, though since he was the one doing the action, he was sure it was more surprising for her. As he brushed it away, he couldn't help but twirl her hair in his fingers as he stared at her. He was not really able to feel her heart beating, though his was racing just like his. He soon stopped, not sure if he should really be doing something like this. The two of them were just friends and he was sure he would not do this to any other female friend he had, not that he had any. The only real female he felt close to aside from Melee was his mother. She was not really a friend seeing as even she didn't always want him around. He gave a small sigh as he turned his attention back to the chocolate wolf. He was happy that she accepted her offer in teaching her how to make the maps that he did. He was sure he would be able to use one of the caves in the neutral territory. This way he would be able to teach Melee and show the maps to his mother without getting them both in trouble.

He was glad to see that Melee was calming down after expressing her worries to the black male. She had every right to be worried and it was nice to see that she was going to take his advice and talk to her father about it, though he didn't seem to like the idea of just telling him away from Nayru. She had a right to know as well since her worries were steamed from her. He watched as her muzzle rested on his finger and smiled. "You should not just keep her out of the loop though Melee. She should know of your worries too. I'm sure she won't be hurt at all. If you don't tell her too, she might ignore it and think it's nothing. If you want to talk to them seperatly, then that's fine, though I think you really should talk to both of them." He wouldn't mind offering to be there with her if she wanted to talk with one of them and got nervous, though he was not sure if it would go over well bringing a male from a different pack so close into her's. He then snapped back to reality as she gently licked him on the cheek. He couldn't help but feel so warm on the inside. He was at peace here with her.

The male looked back to see the disappointment in her eyes as he got up, though he was sure it would disappear soon. He watched as she changed into her lupus form along with him. It was like the two of them were pups again and it was like they were back at the river where they first met. They would have to visit back there sometime. As he was setting his bag down, she began to speak, giving him a bit of a challange. She seemed to have a hint of the humor that his mother seemed to carry. He gave a small chuckle as he walked to her side. "So long as you don't mind being outran by a masked wolf." He then began at a bit of a slow pace and began up the foothills, looking down to make sure that she was following him.

Melee didn't really hang out with anyone who wasn't family other than Scorpius. Given that she hadn't seen him in so long, that meant that she spent pretty much all of her time with family members. There had been some other wolves that she saw regularly - packmates - but they weren't wolves that she went out of her way to see. It wasn't as if she spent significant amounts of time with any of them. So she had definitely never had someone brush her hair back like that. Perhaps this was a normal feeling, though. The way her stomach buzzed and she felt like smiling. Then again, maybe it wasn't. Melee wasn't going to try and puzzle through it just yet, she would figure it out later... or maybe she wouldn't. Either way, right now she was just going to let things happen as they would. Everything would work out how it was supposed to between them. Besides, they were just friends! They had been friends since they were children! It just felt weird because they hadn't seen each other in so long, that was it.

Scorpius gave good advice, even if it wasn't the advice that she wanted to hear. Melee couldn't imagine taking both Gideon and Nayru aside to talk with them about this situation. Despite having known her new stepmother for most - if not all - of her childhood, the girl wasn't really confident in speaking with the other female about personal matters. It was part of the problem, really. She didn't fully trust Nayru. If she had, it wouldn't have been a problem that the other female was now her stepmother. Of course it wasn't Nayru's fault. The older female had done nothing wrong at all, Melee was just going through some issues of her own. "I will talk to her too... but, I might talk to my dad first. I don't know if I could stand to talk to both of them at once." she responded, though she hoped that he knew she appreciated that he was sharing his advice freely. Even though it was advice that she might not take, it was still good to hear perspectives.

The girl enjoyed being in her lupus form with Scorpius. Like her friend, it brought her mind back to the time when they had been puppies together. A time that had been simpler and she had no fears at all. Fear was still a mostly foreign concept to her, but things had gotten more complicated as she aged. It was nice to relax and enjoy the presence of her companion, no longer thinking about complicated things. Instead, she was just focused on having a good time. This was easy for her to do around Scorpius. She swished her tail as they walked, her shoulder leaning in to bump up against his playfully. "I certainly would not mind... if you can catch me, that is." she said, nipping at his cheek before dashing off. Hoping to lead him in a game of tag.

I'm so sorry for the wait. More coming sooner after my move, I promise <3

Scorpius was so glad to be spending time with Melee. It was like all the worries of the world had melted away and he was at peace with his dear friend. Up until now, he had been living in Anathema, trying to get his life together and making sure that he attended to his duties. Making maps of the caves was nice, but it can be boring at times. There was not much too it and it was a lot of busy work. He needed something more exciting and now that the chocolate she wolf was back in his life, he was sure that he would get that.

The black male was glad to see that she was listening to his advice. It would be fair for both her parents to know how she felt, not just one. He nodded to her as he began to speak again. "That makes sense to tell your father first, but don't forget to tell Nayru as well. If you keep her out of the loop, your father might being it up and she might not like it if it came from him instead of you." He liked that she was willing to do this and really should be following her xample, though maybe some other time. He was sure his mother might have some feelings left for his father and didn't really want to come between them, especially now that he was back with Melee even after his mother told him to stay away from her. Perhaps it would be better to wait until later for any of that and he would just like to spend the time that he had with the she wolf.

Scorpius felt so odd in this form, but he didn't mind. It brought back some good memories of his puphood and even the first time he had met Melee. He stayed a bit ahead of her and waited for her to catch up to him before continuing on. Once she got to him, she gave him a playful nudge and then nipped at his cheek. He smiled as he watched her move ahead. He waited a bit, giving her the lead before coming and following up behind her, trying to keep to her pace and not going too quickly. He smiled as he cme closer to her tail and moved to her side. He moved a bit ahead and used his tail to brush it up against her. It He soon stopped on a little ledge and looked how high they had gotten. It was nice to feel the breeze through his fur again. He really should do this more often. He waited for her once again and offered the spot beside her to let her feel. He soon got an idea. "Melee, wait here, I have a little something for you." He soon rushed back down and to his bag, searching for the necklace he had gotten her. He soon found it and carefully grabbed it in his jaws. He slowly made his way back to her and smiled as he placed it in front of her. "Here, this is for you. I hope you like it."

No problem, dear! Your posts are always worth the wait. <3

She felt young again when she was with him. Not that she was that old - or felt that old - to begin with. After all, she wasn't quite a yearling yet. All of the concerns that she had about Nayru and Gideon, about growing up, and about life in general... all of that faded because Scorpius was there. No matter what the circumstances were, they were back in each other's lives and that meant that things would be great. Something had brought them together and something kept bringing them back to each other; this was meant to be, she thought. They were supposed to be friends forever and ever. She had promised that to him before, when they first met. Melee had meant it then and she meant it now, too. They would be friends until the end of time.

He gave good advice about addressing the Nayru issue, too. That was a problem that she had mulled over multiple times before today. Something that she really needed to talk through with Gideon and - eventually - Nayru herself. It wasn't something that she found easy to discuss, because she was so afraid of hurting someone's feelings. Being rather empathetic, the last thing she wanted to do was cause a rift between her and her family. Whether she liked it or not, that family now also included Nayru. In time, she would probably become accustomed to this idea. It was just right now that it felt so awkward and strange. She leaned upward to bump her head appreciatively underneath Scorpius's chin. Nothing more needed to be said on the subject. Melee would handle it... later.

When they began their playful race, she was not surprised that he was able to eventually overtake her. In fact, she thought that he might have allowed her to have the lead for a while. It was all in good fun, though, so she didn't really mind. When his tail whisked in her face, she growled jokingly and nipped at the tip of the appendage. Though she probably wouldn't catch it, her eyes glinted with mischief. As quickly as they had begun to run, though, they came to a stop. They stood on a ledge side-by-side to gaze outward at the world. Just as she was about to remark upon the view, he told her to wait for him and dashed off. The girl tilted her head and wondered what that was about... she didn't have to wait long, though. Scorpius returned to her side quickly and she wagged her tail. Her bi-toned eyes were curious as to what he had brought her, though. The shiny necklace caused her to smile, her tail wagging even faster as she lowered her nose to look at it more closely. No one had ever given her something like that before... she used her nose and good front paw to pull the necklace up onto her muzzle, then over her ears and around her neck. It fit somewhat awkwardly on her lupus form, but she didn't mind. "It's beautiful, Scorpius... thank you." she replied eagerly, leaning in to lick his cheek and show her appreciation.

So sorry again

Scorpius watched from the cliff as he waited for his friend and looked out into the distance to gaze at the view. It was nice to see the area around them in a higher view and he could see much farther on the back side of the mountains. There was so much to be seen outside of the Anathema pack territory and it was nice that once Melee caught up to him, they could enjoy the view together. He couldn't help but change his gaze between her and the view. He felt like he could not control himself and soon tried to distract himself by looking down at his paws. It felt a bit odd now that both of them were older and they were away for so long. He liked it when they met as pups and he was able to rescue her from falling in the water. She was a wonderful one to play with. Now that they were older and he was doing duties, it was a little hard for him to change back to the playful pup he was.

The black wolf would soon make his way back down to grab the necklace and return with it. He took a seat next to her as he gave it to her. He watched her as she slipped on the necklace and said that it was beautiful. He was so glad that she liked it considering he didn't seem himself picking out a gift for her. He looked to her, now with the necklace on and he really liked how she looked with it. He gave her a small smile before looking back down to his paws. He was not expecting the next thing that happened. It was almost as if he had frozen when she licked him on the cheek in appreciation, though he really shouldn't have been too terribly surprised. It was a little more awkward for him as he stay silent before looking back to her and returning the lick on the cheek. He soon shook his head as he turned his head away. "Sorry..."

Scorpius soon looked behind him and up the mountain. He wondered if they would be able to go a little higher, but he did not want Melee to get into any danger because of her defective paw. He looked to her and then back. "Do you want to try going a little higher? Maybe we can get a better view from up there." If she wanted to, he would let her lead this time so she would be able to find the best path for her to get up and he would be able to break her fall if she made a wrong move. He was happy to hand the lead over to her knowing that he would probably pass her up if they were racing again. He wanted her to pick where they should go next and he couldn't wait to see how much more they would be able to see from higher up.
