Quote:The shadowy figure could imagine his meals demise. The poor creature had decided to stay in it's den where it was safe but unfortunately it's den had ended it's life. The rains came down fast and hard, filling the hole in the ground and making it slick with mud. She'd become trapped in the hollow tunnel. Her lungs soon filled with water, panic struck her and soon she was jarred free but it was to late for her. She soon froze in the murky waters. Not many had passed through here, not that he could tell which was more then likely the reason the rabbit's carcass had been left behind, forgotten.

Lowering his body to the ground, Azren shivered slightly. It was cold, he'd never really noticed before because he'd been on the move which had easily kept his body temperature up. Trying to ignore the freezing ground beneath him, he set his small meal between his legs and slowly running his pink tongue down it's dirt-ridden fur. It tasted good despite the mud. His teeth found one of two long delicate ears and ripped it off with a sickly tearing sound. Normally blood would have spurted from the limp form but instead it oozed slowly from the rabbits skull, pooling over it's face and covering it's dead gaze in crimson before dripping off it's cheek and onto the ground.

It only took a second for him to devour the slim piece of meat before moving on to the next on, tearing it off with the same sickly tearing sound. It was then that he heard the girls charming voice ringing in his ears. He'd almost thought that he was hearing one of the voices in his head but then he saw her out of the corner of his eyes. His lips curled in a silent snarl, ears falling flat against his head and hackles raised. He wouldn't let her take the little bit of food that he'd had in days. His azure gaze turned upon the girl with a slight hatred. He was a bitter man who honestly didn't care about the likes of anyone else. Though he wasn't always so vile.

The temperature, paired with the lack of food was probably his biggest problem. When he noticed she wasn't trying to take his meal he relaxed a little but still kept a cautious eye on he as he tore into the frozen flesh of the rabbit. As she spoke again his ears flicked forward. "My pack?" He asked dryly. He hadn't seen a pack since he was a pup. Thinking about it for a moment the shadowy figure let out a hoarse chuckle. "I'm a one man pack miss. I'm alone because I choose to be." His tone no emotion. Company could be nice, could be if she would stick around.

The black beast sunk his teeth into the rabbit, pulling it up in his jaws and giving it a short shake. That was all it took to rip it apart, the sickening snapping of bones echoing in the cool air. Successful he dropped to two pieces and pushed one towards her with his paw. "I'm sure you're hungry as well. Go ahead. Perhaps we can chat while you're at it." He couldn't deny that she was beautiful because she was. Perhaps instead he would try to seduce the pretty lady and keep her. Perhaps she could be his. With that in mind he ate.

Quote:A shadow in the dark, a cold heart led by insanity and driven by rage. Could it be true that this warrior of darkness had become a shivering coward in the eyes of possible danger? His heart pounded, a quick thudding against it's protective casing that filled his veins with sudden adrenaline. He'd come this far and something told him to turn back now would be to waste the emotional investment he'd put into his new acquaintance, in his friend. Something drew him ever closer to Sain, even now in his moment of indecision. It was as if the devil had wrapped a leash around his heart and every time he stumbled, that leash was pulled, giving him a quick reminder that he was above such faults. He wasn't a coward. I'm not a coward. His own voice rang in his ears for only him to hear, dry and dark.

His gaze was kept on the devil that'd led him here, his eyes like a map to his soul. There was no fear there only a longing for the company of someone that would love him and a cold, cynical darkness. Yes, he had stumbled but he hadn't fell. Not yet. It was almost as if he could hear Sain's thoughts, feel his emotions. Once again, the lead had been pulled taut but only for a second. As he sat there staring at the golden one, something stirred within him. Azren stood but did not move, not yet. He waited. He knew there was something, something that the insane hawk would have to say. They hadn't spoken much in there time together and now it was time for the ice to be broken, be it bad or be it good.

His ears were met with insults and he honestly shouldn't have been surprised but he was. In response, a soft rumbling growl drifted into the nights sky. "I'm not afraid, I'm not a coward Sain. I have the common respect to wait at the borders while others may walk on." Why though? Why wait at the borders when in the company of a person who lived there? This was Sain's home and he should trust him. He'd trusted him this far." I'm sorry, perhaps my logic is foolish, I am in your company after all." It was then that he stepped forward, walking up beside the golden devil. Prepared to face whatever demons this place might hold. He was a warrior and beside him stood his knight.

His lips curled into that devious smirk from times past. He wasn't ready to turn away, wasn't ready to walk in the opposite direction of the golden man. He was quickly finding him to his liking and in his company, he could do anything.

Quote:Life for the ebony devil had been bad since he was born, outcast by his family and turned into what he was today by their careless assumptions. A true demon of the earth, insane and with a cold heart. While he like this stranger didn't enjoy fighting, his anger and rage drove him to such malicious feats. Of course he would have started to calm down, would have decided to stop and talk to the lady about running through a slick swamp and how utterly dangerous it could be, for everyone involved. The problem was that this other stranger had decided to make this his business, adding fuel to Azren's dwindling fire and making it a raging inferno. It was careless and stupid of him to have gotten involved, he'd only made the situation worse but now his rage wasn't directed at Lyani but her knight in shining armor.

What felt like an eternity to Lyani, happened in a matter of minutes. He had managed to knock the new stranger to the ground and on top of the girl. He would have attacked him while he was down to, if it weren't for how quickly he returned to his feet. Azren matched his speed, his azure eyes narrowing in on the rust and cream colored stranger, the cold stare of a mad man. However, this mad man, this cold creature was a smart one. Instead of leaving himself open for attack he protected his throat and ears the best he could. A low snarl came from deep within his chest, drifting into the air like a war song. His hackles were still raised, giving his fur a mo-hawk look. Now if only he could look like this all the time, he wondered if others would naturally avoid him and leave him alone.

The thought made him chuckle softly, while keeping his watchful gaze on the other boy. "She is no longer my concern." He spat, his words holding a tinge of anger and frustration all in one. It was true, he no longer cared about the young and clumsy woman and soon he'd not care about Caerel either. When the girls savior attacked him he would quickly leap to the right of him and release another deep snarl into the air. He could tell his opponent was not very skilled in fighting and obviously didn't scrap often. This he found to be amusing but kept his thoughts to himself as usual. 'Are either of the fools worth your time?' Came a dry voice from within the depths of his mind.

He hadn't been expecting the girl to be brave enough to attempt to attack him but now that she had back up, it wasn't a fair fight and he should have seen it coming. He'd been about to lung at the rust colored male before she lunged at him and do to this she managed to catch him by the thigh. A burning pain seared through his left rear leg, the demon whirling around and snapping his jaws in attempt to get a hold of her in whatever way possible. Now it was a matter of life and death. There were two and if they double teamed him.... His mind raced, his heart pounding quickly within his chest. Much to quickly. Still he snapped his jaws at her and if he got purchase he would attempt to rip whatever piece of meat met his mouth, right off her body.

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
