Here he was the man named Imhotep, the man who was once on his way to being a priest for the pharaoh. Now he stood among others being picked for slaves. He was strong and brave and could handle just about anyone at least he thought. golden eyes looked to the left and right. Others coward as men and women looked at them. He no longer felt shame the desert sand had torn that away.

He had never been here before, this place they called Cairo. He had lived in a more norther part of Egypt. the only thing was unlike the way humans ran egypt there seemed to be various pharaoh's and Queens. He watched as men came by and women too chained to the women next to him. He glanced at her as a man smacked him on the nose. "Him" The man said as the traders unlatched him only to be re-latched. he snarled a bit he was no slave this was not where he belonged.

Strapped to the camel he was forced to walk, the man who was his new owner said nothing until he glaced back. "State your name boy" . Imhotep looked at him fire in his eyes. "Imhotep" The words spat with a tang of hatred. "Such a proud name for a Aabt, Imhotep Aabt that is what we will call you and you will answer to either." Imhotep nodded as he looked forward not saying another thing.

Days and nights were spent cleaning and locked in a room with a mat on the floor. One meal a day and that was ate from the floor for that's where a slave should eat from. Slowly they broke him of his head strong ways. Not allowed to speak unless spoken to. Today was good he was sent out into Cairo to get things that the family needed. A short break from the terrible word. He hated hearing it he was no Aabt, he was Imhotep.

Sa'adat al-Masri
her testament to the sky

Her mother often kept her close, but the young woman couldn't stand the stifling heat of their shared home for more than a few hours. It was time to get out. With a soft huff, she donned the loose kaftan that so rarely left her furred form and stepped into the sunlight. Ah, the sunlight. How precious it was. Sa'adat's world without it was dark and depressing.

She took steps into the city, following a familiar path that lead her past the temples and paintings of lost Gods -- Horus, Sobek, Ra, faces familiar and unfamiliar all at the same time. They were not like her mother's Allah. They were wholly different, and so much more frightening. She paused in her place, green eyes opening wide as she studied the return gaze of the crocodile God who seemed to be watching her from the stoney face he'd been painted on.

Imhotep had no focus as he walked he oaid no mind to anyone just the task ahead of him. He must move on get the stuff and get back. His nose was still sore and dried blood. He rubbed his nose and sighed as he looked at the ground.

As he walked he was lucky to not walk into people, he was taught to avoid eye contact and not to talk to anyone. But for once this not looking where he was going got him in trouble. bumping into the woman he did not see he stumbled and looked at her. He collapsed on the ground. "Please forgive me. Do not beat me I'll leave right away." He said face in the ground not looking at her. His tan red fur blending into parts of the sand.

Glancing up for a moment he looked back down. Why wasn't he running he could be free? Was he stupid or did he enjoy the abuse?
