break it down again

Oak had left home and started off on a journey north, hoping that the trek would help him clear his mind of all the chaos that had ensued in the past few weeks. He was still very shaken up by the shock of the sudden war between AniWaya and his pack, and he wished to race into nowhere just to get away from everything for as long as he could.

He soon found himself in the midst Arachnea's Revenge, surrounded by monstrous trees that in their shade gave relief from the blazing sun. His nose twitched constantly as he drifted through the darkened forest, in case there was prey lurking somewhere in the shadows, but his heart was not truly into hunting for once. Instead he sought the water that his nose had alerted him of, and despite the heat, he broke with abandon into a sprint, leaping through the brush with the sound of softly crashing cymbals.

The rust-furred youth broke into the sunlight. Before him spanned a lake whose beauty far exceeded that of Rabbit Lake with its unusually vibrant blue color. He had been panting heavily the entire distance from Crimson Dreams, and his body was begging for a drink. With one last heavy sigh, Oak dipped his two-toned muzzle into the water and began to quench his thirst.

For the first time after coming back from the North, Carwyn departed from the packlands for just a brief moment. He had no plan on abandoning his new home. While he now devoted his service to Ichika no Ho-en, he had been for months without a pack and he didn't want to feel that this privilege was taken. Besides, he still had to get accustomed to the new pack and it's ways, not to mention find a place within the lands to take shelter, eventually a permanent home. Maybe, he would find a cabin that was like the one he shared with his parents while he was still in Phoenix Valley.

With sword across his back, he went forth into a forest of trees. To his surprise, the scent of a wolf.

This scent was somewhat familiar to him. It might have been from one of the neighboring packs. Not only the wolf he could smell, but also water. In a clearing amongst the trees, he spotted a lake.

He emerged from the green forest, approaching the edge of the lake of water that was before his orange-red orbs. He had missed seeing a lake everyday like when in Phoenix Valley. The cabin was beside a lake, so he always saw a majestic blue lake when he left the cabin. Kneeling down, he immersed his paw into the cool refreshing liquid and brought it his maw for a drink. He was, indeed, parched from his 'little' walk.

He repeated several times before he smelled the wolf again. The scent was familiar, yet he could give a name that matched it. He looked around from the right, which there was nothing, to the left. His oculi caught the figure of a rusty-colored creature, whom, like Carwyn, was taking a drink from the lake. He had not seen a different wolf, apart from Saul, for months. Maybe, for his sake, he could become more social.

From observation, the other wolf didn't seem to have noticed the white male yet. Taking a few more sips of water from the lake, he wiped his mouth dry with his arm and shook his paw to dry a little of the water off. Then, cautiously, he approached the mysterious rusty wolf.

Sorry it's so short.

The reddish wolf lifted his crown, muzzle dribbling water. He swiped his tongue around his maw as he looked toward the sound of footsteps drawing nearer. In his current state of mind, the large pale wolf with fiery eyes shocked and frightened him, and instinctively he took a few steps back, hackles bristling. Perhaps the trouble between AniWaya and Crimson Dreams had ignited and spread elsewhere, he just did not know. Who are you? he asked coldly, brows furrowed above cobalt pools that stared straight into the other's face.

The frenzied boy drew in a few deep breaths of cool air, trying to calm the tightness in his chest. It was equally possible that this man had no ill intentions, yet Oak was unwilling to take any chances. They had taken his mother.
