Character profile or three writing examples:

1. The alluring dry grasses of a pale golden yellow colour swayed in awkward motions with the wind. The sky was of a despondent shade of blue and the clouds were of a downcast grey which covered the sun. The calming scratch of grasses brushing past one another and the mild warmth of the wind soothed the empty quiet space which Reneh stood in the midst of. Her eyes glanced at the unanticipated reflections of the falling leaves in a not too distant stream. It ran swiftly between too rock beds, and caught the coyote’s attention. Reneh ambulated towards the water, the grasses kneeling at the touch of her nimble paws. She extended her neck out for the translucent water in front of her. The water was cold and satisfying. A crow flying overhead landed in a dead cotton wood tree, close to Reneh. He polished his wings, looked around for a moment, and then took flight once more into the overcast sky. Reneh turned her back to the open field as she quickly meandered into the forest once she came.

After satisfying her thirst, the young coyote became hungry, and she began following the scent of a herd of elk up through the Great Mountains, even though the coyote knew that elk was far too big a game for her. Through a weaved tangle of pine and spruce, she continued on her way up through the dark and looming forest. Over many fallen pine cones and turned maple leaves she traveled, until she entered a small golden meadow, dead with the coming of autumn. The sky hung above in a strange surrealistic manner. The clouds were dark and under lined in pale shades of blue. The back light from the setting sun made the golden grasses glow in a most ominous way, as the swayed like water in the wind. The musical calls of meadow larks rang distantly, along with the unexpected cry of a red winged black bird. The coyote was just about to follow the calls, and continue in the direction of the elk herd, until a shift in wind carried a new sound with it; another cry. The cry of a wolf. The sound interested the coyote, for it had a certain eerie quality to it which she found engaging.

2. While the coyote was occupied supporting Melila, Lilith headed toward her and began to speak. There was no use in arguing over the male now; it had been set in stone, for now. Lilith said that the coyote should not close her heart to anyone new she encountered; however, Sev had made that a habit, causing it to be harder to be close to anyone. Four creatures would embark together in the dawning of a new clan. Shiro and Lilith conversed and exchanged suggestions for a name. The name of their pack wasn't the only name in question however; apparently Lilith hadn't heard her voice her name. Names, to Sev, were still a most unnecessary notion; however, she secede from licking Melila and introduced herself, "A name..." She looked at Melila, her mind still cloudy, "If I really must have one, it's Sev." Sev looked at the ground and studied a rock that lay there, "A name still... It has no meaning to me."

3. The jackal's jaw locked onto the scruff of the wolf’s neck, which was followed by short whimpering cry. But within another second of briefly tasting the wolf’s blood she was thrown into the grasses that bent abruptly upon her landing. Mora's vision blurred momentarily, but within another second after an intake of breath, she sprung up and darted around the meadow until she made her way behind the wolf again. Their growls continuously became lower, deeper, and more threatening. The jackal barked and panted as she maneuvered; her eyes briefly catching glimpses of the other grey wolf who cowered at the edge of the clearing. The jackal’s high pitched barks slashed the heavy atmosphere, causing a few concerned ground squirrels to flee from the clearing. After a brief suspenseful second, while the two took in another heavy breath, the jackal bounded again; but her opponent turned swiftly to counter attack, and caught her by the throat, throwing her fiercely once again to the meadow’s floor.

For a moment, the great grey wolf hovered above Mora, and stared at her unblinkingly with a golden fire painted in her eyes. Then; however, she turned her back to the coyote once more, and uttered coldly, “Go back to your home.” The wolf decided to not kill the jackal. It was odd. Mora, however, was not finished. At least her stubborn, brute, savage, and violent nature wasn’t. Even though the left side of her throat dripped slowly with a deep crimson blood from a shallow warning wound, she did not want to stop. And she did not know why. She slowly got up on her feet, and began walking toward the wolf, whose back was still turned. She made her way to a fast trot, and once again leaped high into the air, her lips pealed back, her fangs ready to pierce.

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
