Was this good for her, this invitation? Would all be well should she make the acquaintance of another? By her own volition she followed the directions carefully dictated and set a course for the unknown. A gathering was to take place, an event she had heard rumor. Her ear was never as close to the ground as with this news of a chance to mingle and be met. A part of the fragile woman wanted desperately to stretch her social reaches beyond what was had in Lagrata (or lack there of), but ever present was her wary of the concealed illness still lurking within her.

Her mother's voice had waned just enough to sense to filter through again. Her own mind was coming forth, acknowledging the delusion as thus; a farce and nothing more. But it was hard to dislodged such a time of embedded belief. The female roughly shook her head, discarding these unpleasant thoughts that dared depress her mood. This was not a time to ponder on what could not be helped here and now; this was a time to advance her knowledge of others, to begin the threads that would lead to a social net. She could not afford to kept within one domain when so many more were yet to be discovered.

She proceeded purposefully, her powerful limbs taking long, graceful strides taking her further from her home and closer to new opportunities. Even now with none to see her, she wore the mask of composure. Head high and tail aloft, the picture of pride and earned prestige. She carried herself with learned regal grace; the garb donned by the proud Lagratan Beta. She would be seen not as the feeble, the fragile, the shattered. But as the strong, the righteous and sound.

As she scents of familiarity and strange graced her nostrils, she quickened her pace. The encompassing woods finally exhaled, releasing their tension and guiding the eager dame to its clearing with a softly uttered sigh. The gentle wind smoothly combing through groomed locks with the subtle chill of winter on its way. The sight her amber gems beheld was of the clearing so vast she felt intimidation sneak its clutches into her. An uncomfortable graze down her back, as sudden weight to her ears forcing them down against her skull. Would there be many? Was this not a moderate gathering? Her eyes crept through the expanse seeking something, anything to indicate this would not be so.

But again, familiarity touched her delicate nose, bringing her ears to stand again on alert and her tail to twitch eagerly. As long a time as it was since she smelled that musk, she could never forget the face it matched. Anxiety melted away in an instant and excitement again took its place. Familiarity came to her sights and the female about lept with joy. "Bryson!" the woman called to him, already taking stride to greet him. Her tail wagged with greeting and upon her lips and delicate smile, matured from the over optimistic grin she'd once possessed. "It is a pleasure to see you again."

Truth be told, X'yrin hadn't felt much of a leader to Simul despite her paw forward for the role. Her experience was not utilized to its fullest, her potential yet to be tap. She felt no different than a subordinate simply granted the privileges of an Alpha. What had she done to prove her worth besides step forward?

She felt terribly unfulfilled. Not at all as she had when within Heiroja. Harmless as her companion's choice of conversation might have been, it stirred a deep longing let alone for far too long. Momentarily her meal was forgotten though kept possessively within her grasp. Her tail swept the chilled floor thoughtfully, her brows creased whilst her mind delved deeper. "Suppose we had our decisions..." she voiced absently more conversing possibilities than a carefully construed thought. "And attempted to put them into practice... I doubt they would carry." She sighed softly, clarity coming to her eyes with each careful blink.

"The practices and traditions of my forebears and the pack were meticulous and detailed, carrying from generation to generation without fail. This is the first time I would be attempting these traditions without the shared ideals of the pack to guide me." The female looked down at her meal, too preoccupied to take another bite. "It...it is frightening really."

As quickly as her own thoughts were placed upon herself, they were set aside for a moment as a pressing concern worked its way to her attention. As if struck by a bolt, the female jumped, her eyes suddenly alight though her brows remained knitted. "Speaking of frightening," she lifted her head, licking at the remnants of hare meat on her muzzle. "The basket Athena is organizing to take to Celahir... will you be partaking?"

Her business was her own. Her goals, much of the same. It was simply this female's intent to start the day with a small hunt, perhaps find a few decent morsels to bring back with her to the pack and have an afternoon snack. But things did not always go the way one wanted; this instance was no different.

The mountains to her back and purposeful stride to her step, the Simul female marked a path through the barren woodlands to conduct her search. Her nose to the ground twitching with each unfamiliar scent. She grew puzzled when much of the same pungent odor kept striking her delicate nostrils. Had someone attempted to claim this land, she wondered. Or was this just a wolf with an over active bladder? The woman hoped it was the latter, less she conclude her day in contest with another for dominance. She'd like to avoid that route if possible.

Curiosity raised her head from the ground to better scent the air for a host. In her ears were the sharp barks of a female distressed as well as a proud proclamation not but a few years away. X'yrin held her place. Her ears pricked forward as she listened to the bickering unfold. They sounded like children. Like her and her sister before they had a chance to converse and settle their differences. (But with considerably less insult to their words) Just what had the female stumbled into? Or rather, what was she waltzing into?

Her large form parted the treeline with muscled limbs churning beneath her vibrant winter pelt. She introduced herself with her head high and tail curled proudly above her back, but her eyes held not the stare of a dominant female. They were soft, maternal eyes; the understanding gaze of a mother coming upon her children squabbling, but she did not address them as such. Instead, she swept her sights over both of them in turn, first to the tall and sleek female who's scent she recalled as the marker, and the other shorter female bathed in greys and white. Both were unique spectacles that did well for themselves given the dwindling conditions of food, but like herself and the wolves of Simul, they still showed evidence of lack of food.

"Ladies..." she elder female called to them softly, taking stride in a wide sweep around the pair. "Why this bickering?"

Welcome to 'Souls!

Congratulations! You've been accepted into the craziest bunch of roleplayers on the vast Internet! We encourage you to keep checking out our information; you can find a wealth of it on the RP Guide. Don't feel pressured to read it all at once -- the guide is a huge resource and is meant to be used as a reference.

If You've Joined the Game As a...
  • ... Loner, do begin considering which of the packs you'd like to join. Survival as a Loner is less realistic -- wolves and other canines are generally social creatures, preferring to live in a pack structure!
  • ... IC pack joiner, you can now begin posting -- you may start your IC pack joining thread whenever you're ready. Make sure you check the pack information to see if the leadership requires anything extra from you!
  • ... OOC pack joiner, the leader still has to respond here before you can start roleplaying -- don't worry, though; if you're rejected from the pack you'll be titled as a Loner, and you're free to pursue other packs or the same one later.
Post-Joining Process
Mandatory:
  • Make an In Character post within five days. Post a thread request to get started, or consider starting or replying to an open thread.
  • Please let us know in the Absentee Thread if you plan to be absent for more than four days.
  • Keep reading! While there's only a minimum of three topics you have to read to join the game, we provide a wealth of information for a reason -- we expect players to read and reference this material often while they roleplay at 'Souls.
Preferred:
  • If you're leaving us, please try to let us know in the Player Updates forum. There is no penalty for leaving; you're free to re-join at any time later.
Still Need a Bit of Help?

Post any questions you may have in the Questions and Help forum. Check the FAQ first, though! The Mentors can assist you with writing, roleplaying, and understanding 'Souls concepts. Failing all else, contact a staff member.

If you need help getting adjusted to your pack, you should talk to your pack leader! They can help you to understand the pack's rank system and how to get a better rank, as well as direct you to plots, potential thread partners, and active members of the pack who may be interested in engaging you.
