How do I ask for what I don't deserve?

After they get back to the windmill. PP permission from Shaw.

They had arrived back in their temporary home in with the Dreamers, happily avoiding contact with any of them, and anyone not friendly to them. They both limped back to the windmill, where Liliana received them with worry and sudden fear. Sunki was tired and worn, but she asked her sister-in-law to stay outside while she took care of her older brother, and assured her they both would be fine. The two children went with her. Sunki lay him down on the bed he shared with his mate, ignoring the agony her body was in. Everything below her neck was a sore mess, and blood was spotted all over her pelt. She would go to the lake later and bath away all the pain on her skin, and hope her lower body would be purified from the taint the man left her.

She rushed to her bags, looking through them with a fervor. Her body ached and she felt a bit warm, but she still opened pouch after pouch. Ignoring her brother as she grabbed a small, circular, thick, smooth gourd from her big bag. She held it in her hands as she stared at the bag, wishing her feelings would stop. She had to focus to try to fix what she had done to her brother. Tears welled up in her eyes as her hands shook with the gourd in them. "Nayati.. I'm.. I'm sorry..," she muttered, taking a shaking hand and wiping her eye with the back of it. Rising slowly, she found herself beside the man on his bed. "I.. I shouldn't have.. I just..," she quietly said, not looking the man in the eye. She opened the top of the gourd, revealing a strange smelling ointment. She had traded a lot of her own personal ointments for it: aloe vera.

She began to rub it on the visible cuts on the man's skin, wondering what else was hurting him. Tears were slowly running down her face as she used the ointment. She herself would later use lavender on her cuts. Nayati needed the rare treatment more than she did.

One of these days I'll stop failing so hard >_>

Their painful trek back from AniWaya was a complete blur to the man. His vision continued to be hazy and his whole head throbbed with a pain he had never before experienced. He could feel his sister helping him and no matter how badly he wished to take his weight off of her, he could not for how his body was now failing him. Nayati could not have walked straight if he had tried, and undoubtedly would have stumbled to the ground repeatedly if not for Sunki's assistance. He had said nothing as they struggled back to safety, his whole throat still aching from the crushing pressure that had been applied to it.

The Utina was only vaguely aware when they had reached Crimson Dreams and subsequently the windmill that the family had been inhabiting. Familiar scents filtered slowly into his consciousness, as well as voices. Well, really only the voice of his mate could be discerned. He could at least be thankful that no one outside of the family was seeing him in such a weakened state. Then their movement stopped and he could tell that he had been laid down. Rummaging sounds were heard as if from a great distance and he blinked his eyes repeatedly, trying to gain some focus, but it was a losing battle.

Nayati could hear his sister's shaky voice by his side and after the delay it took for him to understand her words, her shook his head. It was true, she should not have gone back to their old home, but how could he possibly berate her now? After what had been done to her? No, he did not have the heart to put her through any more pain, to make her guilt any more than it already was. Moving his head such made it explode in pain though and with a grimace he pressed a hand to his forehead, trying to stop it.

NAH x3

She sighed as he shook his head at her, and then when he put his hand over his brow. He should know better than to move his head when he clearly hurt it. His brains must have been rattled in the process for him to do something like that. "Just close your eyes and keep your head still," she said clearly as she pulled his hand away from his head. She turned and barked an order at her sister-in-law to get a small bowl of water, preferably cold. The woman turned her head back to her brother as she closed the gourd with the top and set it aside. Nayati should not move until the pains went away, but it was going to be rough for him regardless. Sleep was the best medicine. And it would leave her to heal on her own, so her brother could not see her tears.

Liliana returned with the water, and Sunki gladly took the bowl from her. She had taken a small cloth with her from her pile, and she soaked it in the liquid. It was not as cold as she would have liked, but it was hard to find cold water in this weather. Soaking it and then ringing it out so it was moist, the pale woman set it on her brother's brow. "Lay still, danitaga. You hit your head pretty badly." It was more for Liliana's benefit than her brother's. He knew well enough that he had hit himself pretty hard. Sunki's eyes were watery, and she took his hand into hers and squeezed it tight in thanks and apology.

Even with his eyes closed he could see explosions of light behind his lids. This was worse than any laceration or broken bone he may have received. How could his head be healed? Nayati had not thought about this turning into some kind of permanent malady, but what if it did? He would become useless. A hunter needed focused eyes and balance. He needed his wits about him. The best he could do for now though was to listen to his sister's instructions, and so he stopped shaking his head and kept his eyes closed against the blur the world had become.

Soon he felt a damp coolness across his forehead and it felt nicer than anything he had felt since he had tackled that beast off of Sunki. Nayati sighed, trying vainly to expel all the pressure in his abused skull. He felt his sister squeeze his hand, and he squeezed it back. "Awiusdi..." he spoke with his weak, cracking voice. The Utina could not believe what had been done to her. Nayati wanted to hold Sunki and make it all go away, just like he had when they were young and nightmares had scared her. This was not the same though. He couldn't make what had happened disappear. Nobody could. "I am...sorry..." Sorry he had not gotten there sooner. Sorry he could not kill that foul beast again for her.
