WC:576+ - Ok, sooo this is crap. I was thinking that Jaz could just stumble upon them and the horses would wake them up. You can PP, I dun care. If you do...just member that Wayne is super protective and Dixie is overly friendly. :p

Staying on the beach seemed like a good idea, so the duo hadn’t left their little piece of heaven in the sand. Listening to the waves constantly had both of them so relaxed after their friend from Anathema left that they just lazed around all day. Every now and then one of them would go out and catch a few fish and mix it with whatever small creatures they’d caught in the nearby forested area. They hadn’t suspected anything…but suddenly the sky opened up started to rain pretty hard, turning the beach into a big slushy. Wayne had to hook both Fern and Duke up to the wagon and then push at the back to get it out of the sinking and glue-like sand. So far the night was just not turning out so well. They sought refuge in the forest, the canines pulling saplings together with lassos and Dixie climbed haphazardly to the tops to tie them together. She fell a few times, bruising herself in a few places and turning her white fur a dark muddy color. By the time she was done, there were six of the young trees bent together, giving them a relatively waterless shelter for the night. A few skins were draped over the horses, who gathered together under a huge pine.

There was nothing they could do now but wait for the storm to pass over. Taking the wagon back to the beach was going to be impossible for the next few days, so they discussed just staying there at the edge of the forest. Their little temporary shelter was actually set up nicely despite working on it in a torrential downpour and Dixie wouldn’t mind just sleeping there for a while. The two Texans weren’t new to stormy weather, as there had been a few horrible hurricanes off the gulf coast during their childhood. Wayne wasn’t really affected by the storm, but Dixie was. When the thunder and lightning started up, she curled up and snuggled into her companion’s side, hiding her face against his shoulder. The sounds and brief flashes of light scared the hell out of the little girl for some reason. Wayne decided she needed something to keep her mind off of it since neither of them were going to be getting any sleep. He got up and went out to the wagon, grabbing some of their supplies that were relatively dry after being stored under the few skins they had.

He brought back her basket weaving materials; long strips of deer skin and an armful of damp sand grass, the kind that was soft and bendy and swayed in the wind all the time. He set everything on her lap and then crawled into the small shelter, wiggling in behind her and leaning his back against one of the tree trunks. Pulling her closer, he wrapped his arms around her waist and just sat there, comfortable and content to just listen to the storm and hold his girl. Dixie began weaving a new basket, her fingers shaking slightly for a while as her nerves began calming down. By the time she had half of it done, the thunder and light show had staved off and the rain was slowing. Wayne was fast asleep behind her, soft rumbling snores coming from his chest. Yawning widely, the little girl leaned back against him and closed her eyes as well, slipping into a light sleep.

WC:300+

The massive halfling traveled across the land with ease. The war filled his mind, concern continuously spreading through his bones. This was the time for action, time to find alliances of the past and call upon them to help bring peace back to the packs. Although Jazper was by nature a more physical person he had learned over the years to calm himself. Rushing into things was not always a good thing to do but in his heart he felt like something needed to be done. How could they wait while those monsters where still in Souls land? These wolves had over stayed their welcome and all he could do was stand around a wait.

This thinking was the reason here was searching. Ever since he had visited Anann , after retrieving Fia from Aniwaya lands, the warrior had begun to devise a plan. He knew that time was of an essence in war and no one pack had the resources because trained wolves were spread across the packs. It would always take a long time to resolve conflicts if this was how the packs would work in the future and Jazper would not take it. For almost two months now he had snuck out of Crimson Dreams the odd day to search the lands. Somewhere out here was a place to train canines to react, not sit by and wait.

Unfortunately for Jazper a storm moved in by Whisper Beach that day. The wind and rain pushed against the mighty fighter. By the time the rain slowed the Knight was soaked and chilled to the bone. Moving his large body across the old Dahlian lands he caught a gimps of a strange make shift structure. Quickly as his dripping body could move he hurried towards the shelter, “Hello? Is there room for another?” The rain still dripped down steadily although the worst was over. Standing impatiently outside of the small structure he stared hopefully, manners really held back a person sometimes.

WC:358+ lolol Dixie is so goofy and cute. XD

The rain hadn’t slowed down for at least two hours, and the occasional thunder and lightning woke Dixie up every time. She would jump and yelp, panic setting in and taking hold only to be soothed away by Wayne’s strong arms around her body moments later. More basket weaving would begin and she’d get another few inches done before drifting off and starting the process all over again. There would be no peace for either of them through the night, the horses kept making all kinds of noise and with the girl’s constant startling, Wayne wasn’t going to be getting any sleep. After a while the tied trees started dripping, the little holes beginning to let water though in small streams. The male growled ad set Dixie to the side, got up and went out to the wagon to grab two of the unused skins. He spread the mountain lion and deer skin blanket out, fur down, over one side and the all deer blanket on the other, letting the rain bounce off of the cured and tanned skin sides. Completely waterproof now.

When the male crawled back inside, he scooped Dixie up onto his lap and curled up with her, combining their body heat to keep warm. He heard the approaching creature before he saw the huge man and had a low, threatening growl rumbling in his chest. When the black furred man leaned partially in and asked if there was any room, Wayne was ready to tell him to get lost. Dixie sat up and waved, excited at meeting someone new like she always was. ”Hi there! Come on in, if you can fit. Wayne, hun…can you shift? Them long legs ‘a yours are takin’ up a mighty lot of space.” She turned and gave her companion puppy eyes, grinning when he sighed and complied with her wishes, shifting into secui form and curling his still large body around hers. She waved her hands to the man, inviting him inside and patting at the available ground in front of her tiny body. They would be pretty cramped, but at least he’d get out of the rain.
