There was a slight breeze that pushed through the gloomy area surrounding Jaden’s home in west New Glasgow. He slowly opened the ancient door in an attempt to keep its ungodly squealing from cutting the early morning air. Inside the home Verloren, the young she wolf he was mentoring, still slept through the dark hours. Most mornings he would wake her to go out training with him, but not today. Today was a rest day for the pup to do what pups do and meet others around Ichika while Jaden fulfilled his duties. But he still had not planned on leaving quite this early. The nightmares that visited regularly had used their icy grip to shake him from sleep an hour or two ago. The man had lain in the large and strange bed which he was yet to get used to and tried desperately to find sleep again. Efforts proving futile with the fresh images of a bloody memory plaguing his mind, he decided to get up and start out on his morning journey earlier then normal, thinking that perhaps he could reach his Halcyon Mountain training ground just after dawn.

Still drowsy, the chilly morning gust was met with an annoyed grumble as he cleared the mess of weeds which once been a lawn in front of the human dwelling. Verloren still slept and Jaden sighed a breath of relief that hung in the air as a puff of white vapor. Then he turned and quickly changed forms before starting off at a calm trot toward the distant mountains.

Four lupus legs carried the brute past long deserted human dwellings and eventually into the surrounding country side. Jaden watched absentmindedly as the same terrain he passed every other day displayed the enormous amount of diversity present in Ichika no-Hoen land. Before long, the frosty grasslands led into forestry, and forestry into the uneven beginning of Halcyon foothills. The uneven ground under his ebony paws was also accompanied with an abrupt stop to the cool morning breeze as it was subdued by the looming presents of the mountains. The sun too began to show by throwing pinks and oranges against clouds bordering the horizon. The temperature began to rise little by little and new dawn light played havoc on Jaden’s deep blue eyes. Shadows invaded the forest around him and marred visibility as the Shishen unsuspectingly trotted along, not quite fully awake and not quite ready for what he was walking into.

Dawn would be hour of choice to awaken to the Ichikan morning. Seasons spent routinely waking before the rising sun to carry on her travels allowed the female to rise refreshed as if stirring from a nap rather than a deep sleep. Her senses ever aware and in-tune with her surroundings, she was in awe for the serenity that enveloped these welcoming lands. She could get used to these mornings... rather, she had gotten used to them. Her visit now turned to an extensive residence.

Following her encounter with the Ichikan warrior, X'yrin had made residence for herself not far from the Shishen's home occupied by another she had yet to meet. It was a simple den, nothing more than an enclosure dug out of the earth and lined with soft leaves and moss. Cozy and efficient; a place for one to keep away the nightly chill but allow a gentle breeze now and again. The Nomad emerged into the morning with purpose, a lengthy stretch to rid her muscles of atrophied and a yawn to expel the stagnant breath of sleep. Secui in form, the female greeted the morning with a smile and optimistic hopes for what it had in store.

Vulpine tail donned across her shoulders, she ventured from her enclosure anticipating her first glimpse of a familiar to be that of the warrior. Stalking would have...grossly inappropriate. She had simply adopted the practice of observing his daily routine, starting with his early morning training followed by his pack chores. She couldn't deny her act would be viewed as suspicious, but what other way was there to witness one without them noticing? There was no harm in it... right? At least, this is what the woman repeated to herself time and time again; her mantra to justify her stalking. Heavy paws were silent as they lead the heavy beast to prowl from one enclosure to the other. Her body low, tail straight and ears pressed down against her head; a predator stalking prey of her own kind.

She waited with commendable patience for the lupus form of black and red to emerge at last, taking stride into the chilling morning still tired and unaware. The female wet her lips expectantly, inching forward to keep the male within her line of sight. The sun continued its steady rise illuminating the neighboring forest encompassing their residence. Jaden carried on unsuspecting... unaware of what lurked at his back. She would only have a moment to take him before her scent gave her a way. It was a wonder the wind remained so much in her favor. The hunter quickened her pace, powerful shoulders rounding rhythmically, narrowing the distance between Secui and Lupus forms. She grew all the more excited as his scent invaded her flared nostrils, her claws raking through the earth as she was driven closer...

Energy surged through her body in an instant, taunt muscles released as the stalking force suddenly bound forward and lept to take the sluggish form by surprise at the back with an excited bellow breaking the quiet of the dawn. "MORNING!"

Thoughts of X’yrin were on Jaden’s weary mind moments before the attack. Ever since meeting her, things had continued on in a normal manor. The Nomad seemed to be keeping to herself and seemed to be settling in before she decided to approach the Shishen again. It had taken him nearly a full month just to see the various territories of Ichika. If X’yrin were an explorer like himself it could take her just as long to get comfortable. But the only problem with this theory of Jaden’s is that he kept coming across her sent during his daily doings. Every so often there would be an area of grass that clearly carried her wide paw print and smelt delightfully of the fae. It was almost as if she were going along the same routs to explore that he traveled everyday.

Two and two wouldn’t come together. If Jaden had motivation to expect fowl deeds from the female, and in that ignore the fact that Nayru trusted her, then he may have figured out what was really going on: that he was being watched and studied. No, all the male knew was that eventually she would seek him out, eventually she would fulfill her goal of teaching and learning and until then there was plenty to keep him busy.

When the attack came, it was sudden. X’yrin’s trained steps easily hid all sound of her approach until she was upon him. The only thing that betrayed her was her own scent. The smell reached Jaden only moments before she did and caused the brute to stop abruptly. His head tipped questioningly. He smelled her so strongly and so suddenly that it was almost as if she were right on top of him…

While the thought was still resonating in Jaden’s head, he felt pressure on his ebony flank. Two big paws pushed him right off his and suddenly he was leaning into a roll. His first reaction was to drop his hindquarters and use his strong back legs to take whoever had knocked his balance off down as well while he tried to roll off the impact. This way the attacker, who he hadn’t yet realized was X’yrin, wouldn’t be able to take advantage of his vulnerability while he scrambled to stand.

Although weariness, adrenaline, and confusion coupled with shock incapacitated Jaden’s logical mind for a solid few seconds, he relatively understood what was going on by the time he had completed the roll and was stuffing his paws back under his own body for support. From her tone and less than lethal attack, it was pretty clear that X’yrin meant no harm. That didn’t mean Jaden wasn’t annoyed though. If there was one thing he strongly disliked, besides his fears of water, it was being surprised. Quite a way to greet the mornin’ he grunted, a little stress on the words to show his disdain for surprises. He launched himself at her and aimed for the first vulnerable area he could get to in an attempt to now throw her off her paws or pin her on the ground so that he could have upper hand. The ex-assassin knew battles were most easily won if they were over quickly.

Success! Surely Jaden could feel nothing but impress for the female's tactics. Such quiet stalking coupled with a clean take-down of her prey. The woman was all smiles and mirth as she and her prey were thrown into a tumble through the lush greens. Perhaps a follow through would have sufficed better than allowing herself to be tossed off her paws to a playful roll. Regardless, her stunned quarry couldn't ignore she had some skill in terms of catching one off guard.

Her merry chime was met with grump, perking the female's ears with question as she hastily rolled to her paws. Her brows creased with question as she watched the male gain his bearings. Was he not impressed? A sudden lunge of obsidian fur told her otherwise. Hardly a dancer on her thick Secui legs, X'yrin's hurried scramble backward from the assault was lacking the finesse of a skilled warrior and was more a flail for stability. The woman reared to her hind legs, stamping back awkwardly to avoid the brunt of the Shishen's stampede. Immense pain shot up her spine originating from her backside as she was again awkwardly positioned. A flash of fright was more than enough to snap the female's tail between her legs only to be caught by her large hind paws. She gasped in pain whilst taking a most unbecoming dive into the emerald sea. She landed with a sound 'omph'. Her backside smarted something fierce.

Apparently the Ichikan warrior did not take a likely to surprises... especially one so early in the morning. And the woman was not at all flight-footed when frightened. These were things the Exultare would have rather not learned this morning... From within the grass she peered with cautious eyes toward the imposing physique of her subject. Most likely baring down at the messy heap of matted fur and tangled limbs tossed with flora. "Should I call out at a distance next time, Shepard Jaden?" she inquired humbly, referring to the male as she would her Nomad family lead. "Otherwise, I fear I would not see light again."

The Weariness that had been weighing Jaden down heavily at the not to distant beginning of his journey was now long gone. A strong heart beat rapidly under his crimson ribcage and flooded the wolf with adrenalin. The rush was something Jaden truly loved. Usually it came with hunting and, before the brute joined Ichika, it came with the aggressive confrontations he had always seemed to find himself in as a loner. It was now tainted with a surprise and that was unfortunate this morning, but the warrior fully expected to ride out his adrenalin rush with a good brawl, even if it was just for play or training.

When his big front paws met earth instead of X’yrin’s shoulder, Jaden got low for another pounce and admired the Nomad’s agility. Lighting fast anticipation’s of another offensive struck, but to no avail. Finally locking onto his target once more, the brute was a little confused at what he saw. His blue eyes scanned her belly which was now full displayed as she stumbled on her back paws; an easy and more than likely fatal target for the male’s sharp teeth in any real scuffle. Luckily, that wasn’t Jaden’s intention by the time she was so vulnerable. He simply watched with a dumbfounded look about him as she tumbled into the flora. When X’yrin didn’t rise immediately, he grew worried that she may have been seriously hurt. Her breathing was quick and he watched her chest rise and fall for a second before cautiously stepping forward.

Blood’s stench didn’t meet the Shishen’s nose as he sniffed at her belly and nothing looked broken. He came to stand over her and wondered if her heart was not as fit as a warrior’s should be. She had startled him and ended up on the ground. Before he could inquire about it, the female’s quiet voice humbly played. The question she asked gave Jaden something to ponder for a moment before he realized what had happened. If you call out at a distance it wont be a surprise and you will butcher your only advantage. He smirk with the teasing words, but was still a little worried. When you attack, be ready for a counter. How am I supposed to know my assassin is so harmless? He bent his head low and sniffed at the other’s muzzle, Then prodded hers with his broad nose as encouragement to stand. Have I hurt you?

Retaliation was the appropriate outcome for this little ambush. As the female resided among the flora and truly thought about her actions, wouldn't she have done the same? He wouldn't have known it was her sneaking upon him like that. The Shishen didn't know her well enough at all to be expecting that kind of a morning greeting. A simple 'hello' would have sufficed, not this elaborate act of stalking then downing prey. Oh she felt silly. Her proud head taking a shameful dip deeper into the fresh greens still glazed with morning dew.

After that extravagant tumble, it was unlikely he would take her warrior seriously. How could the woman claim to be a highly regarded warrior when she couldn't even anticipate the counter of her prey? X'yrin remained still on the ground, allowing herself to be inspected without hindrance. She was a pup again, under the scrutinizing nose of her Shepard checking to make sure she hadn't damaged herself by her own careless antics. Gentle breaths against her exposed belly had the large beast squirming, fighting the urge the round upon the male and return the torture ten-fold. But she kept herself down, her smarting tail no longer a burden as it unfurled from beneath her heavy frame and tapped the ground impatiently. Experienced words graced the woman's ears and were acknowledged with a soft, reprimanded whine. Silly girl. What had she expected to happen once she committed to downing her prey? Like all quarry, did they not fight back to preserve their lives? A wolf, no, a warrior was no different.

Cerulean encapsulated her gaze, drawing nigh with soft purpose. The warmth of the other's muzzle against her own sent a foreign chill down her bristled spine coupled with a strange, but pleasant warmth from her muzzle. She hadn't felt like this truly since she was a child, resting within grass for the first time. The tiny prickles of flora blades slipping through her fur to touch her skin, the tickling sensation when they blades wobbled and crinkled beneath her. There was something indescribably enjoyable about it... as was the coaxing touch of his muzzle. Strange that a touch could surface such a pleasant, profound memory. She felt a giggle of mirth bubble beneath her imposing surface, but settled for an assured smile instead. She rose without question, carefully placing each limb to support her bulked stature. "I am not hurt," she replied softly after taking a moment to inhale the sweet morning air muddled with their scents. "But you are right. How are you to know your attacker is harmless? I was... just so excited to see a familiar face... so used to greeting my Shepard some mornings that way... it just felt natural to do so with you." She didn't bother to inquire if her words made sense. She had gradually assumed some confidence in her ability to convey her thoughts and feelings successfully.

However, she was not thoroughly convinced the male was at ease. With a careful inch toward him, she raised her forepaw to lightly bat his shoulder in a harmless, friendly gesture. "I am sorry if I put you off. I had just hoped to catch you this morning."

Jaden watched patiently as the nomad pulled herself from her floral bed. He quickly realized the auburn wolf was quite fine with nothing wrong past a little shock and his irritation soon ensured. If not for her reasoning behind the attack Jaden may have been rather annoyed. But, as he stood there and bored a questioning gaze into her after his inquiry, X’yrin flattered him a bit.

It seemed like the two only knew each other shallowly. Having sparsely spent any time interacting warranted as much. Oddly though, Jaden found that he’d placed a lot of trust in the woman. Listening to her speak also warmed pleasant memories of their conversation and fist meeting. To say that he was excited to see her was appropriate after he realized what her seeking him out meant. I will live, exhaled the brute and sent with the breath nearly all of his irritation. The promise of possible sparing with the female lit his features and an almost hungry expectation that sat patiently behind his deep blue eyes. Truthfully, it’s my fault for paying so little attention. But perhaps you’ve come to do more than speak this morning? The shishen completely forgot his previous plans for the early hours as he crouched low on his front paws in a universally playful wolfish gesture. The rising sun played shadows across his dark figure and was only interrupted by his lashing shaggy tail. A sharp grin that sprawled across his muzzle also suggested a slightly mischievous intent. You’ll have to be much faster andstay on your feet, he pounced toward her lightly, aiming his forepaws for her shoulders once more. to have any chance against me!

It was a gradual descent into ease, seeing as her companion was not as upset by her actions as she had thought. Still, it seemed rather rude of her, now that she had a chance to reflect upon her actions. She was assuming much of their bud of a relationship. Only a seed had been planted on their first encounter, and now the female was rushing to see a thriving flower when truly the seed had only sprouted tiny shoots. Had her Shepard been around to witness this, he would have certainly scolded her for acting like an untrained pup. She was becoming too comfortable too soon... But she couldn't help it. There was something indescribable about finding a kindred spirit, a touch of home in a strange land and it felt like everything would fall into place from there. She trusted this choice to be for the better and wanted to see her hopes produce something beautiful. To say she enjoyed her time with the Shishen would have been a drastic understatement. It welled within her something profound... and how she wanted to pursue this comfort with passion.

Yet another apology was on her lips but was held back as she saw the darker male lower his stance. Her ears perked up, tail already wagging as she acknowledged the timeless gesture. A moment before she was standing straight, then in an instant she was forward bent with her tail high and waving like a banner. So he wasn't upset after all! Her worry seamlessly melted away as a smile parted her muzzle.

His words of challenge were met with an excited bark, and as he bound for her to take her shoulders, the she-wolf displayed her evasive skills. A sudden dart to his left in a short bound had her within sight of his flank. "Then you will be pleased," she assured him, her playful tail sweeping wide to swat the male on his side as she cut around to his backside. "I'm sure I am faster." Giggling maw nipped for his tail as her own banner resumed its role as the yet to be captured flag.

The early morning air was still crisp and sunlight just curling its warm fingers around the land when the wolves began to play. This sight was timeless, ageless, and as natural as the grass and trees. Centuries before humans poisoned the land wolves were the first to claim it. Now, decades after their demise, wolves were playing once again. But somehow this play was new. Maybe it was their bounding energy washing over the still groggy Earth. Perhaps it was that two newly acquainted souls were interacting and exploring one another that made this seemingly different. Or maybe it was just for the Shishen. This simple display of companionship and the joy it brought was infinitely refreshing and wonderful. To much time had passed since chores and training fell to simple, enjoyable fun with another.

X’yrin was fast. Her sudden dodge was more startling than her last odd and clumsy maneuver by far. The training and experience she had now showed in the graceful movement. The female’s assurance resonated in Jaden’s ear from her position dangerously close to his flank and he gave an excitedly surprised bark in response before rounding on her. I half expected to see you belly-up again, he laughed what seemed like harmless banter but what was actually a calculated distraction. If he could divide her attention between banter and their wrestling, it would be an advantage for the slower male. He tossed his grater mass against hers and quickly pulled his tail from her nipping maw. I have strength and size against you, he grunted and pushed his shoulder against her flank, trying to take her balance and in it, her agility. Once his paws came down from the heave, the Shishen lunged for a vengeful, but delicate, nip at her shaggy tail.

He was crafty when he wanted to be, was the first time X'yrin noted to the Shishen's retaliation. She growl in good-nature though she missed his tail and was instead brushed by his shoulder. She felt the weight edged into the gesture and evaded with a bound away from this dark pelt. Though she avoided being toppled, she was in too awkward an angle to avoid the sudden nip to her tail.

The female jerked her tail from his grasp with a sound bark of indignation, still wearing an excited smile. True, he might have had an advantage over her with his size in their present forms, but she wasn't so willing to acknowledge this observation. Commencing battle with negative notions always compromised the outcome. The warrior knew better than to let such talk unnerve and distract her. She simply barked to her morning partner rounding swiftly to face him against with her tail high and swinging in taunt.

She was too eager to wait for his advance and charged for him herself. She intended to dart past him with her head lowered, seeking a nip at his hindleg.

Unfortunately, banter was something Jaden truly enjoyed. In an actual fight or in something less serious like this he loved to spar with words as well as his body. Being able to unnerve an opponent was always an advantage. Anger and fear made people impulsive, predictable. Even the need to compete or show off had a similar effect. That is what he wanted X’yrin to aim for. But she wouldn’t. To his dismay, the female kept her muzzle tightly closed except for barks and growls of battle.

When her furry tail was finally his the man let her round on him and he held his head high. A gloating grin held his muzzle and his own want for banter distracted him. He opened his mouth to say something along the lines of “not fast enough” only to snap it closed as the Nomad burned right under his high held nose. The pressure of her jaws on his back leg was gentle enough but still brought about a similar bark of indignation to X’yrin’s. He rounded on her this time.

So we are evenly matched, he breathed a little dryly. The man caught his breath for a moment and eyed her for weakness. There was none to find in the tan fur posed for a strike before him so he changed his strategy. In moments the change started. Bones repositioned and Jaden pulled himself out of the grass on two feet not long after. He popped his neck with a satisfying sound and shrugged off his previously swallowed banter. Lets see how well you work with your hands. The Shishen’s hands were open guarding his center and his feet positioned to give him leverage and balance. He gave a sharp, challenging smile and waited for her to change.

Her aim was true, her agility and dexterity aiding in her successful and swift attack. Applying enough pressure to announced her victory, she swept wide from the male in a graceful round, dancing on the tips of her paw. They were at ease, yes. This bout just a casual game to assess the other's still but as she put more of her effort, her concentration, she felt this exhibition as more of a spar and less of a game. Her demeanor gradually changed internally, her footing becoming more purposefully and strong, though a content smile remained on her muzzle.

Had it not been for Jaden's change in form she would have continued, but paused to allow him space to transform. Her own body swiftly altered from four legs to two. Her form remained crouched in the midst of transformation. Feral claws digging into the morning soil as the whole of her contorted and stretched to its new height. Auburn locks cascaded down her back and shoulders still matted and unkempt whilst shaggy bangs obscured her eyes. She threw them back with a sharp toss of her head then assumed a forward stance, her body quickly rising to be on level with the Shishen. She shifted her weight to her back leg while one came forward in advance. Her arms remained near her sides, palms facing forward in an open gesture... almost inviting. Yet her opponent's stance was similar, awaiting arrival of the first strike.

The taut tension of her back leg was used to suddenly propel her forward. She sped forward, though not as agile as she would have liked. Still not used to performing on two legs after many seasons on four, she was struggling with retaining balance and exertion of energy. But her love for the spar outweighed the odds stacked against her. When near she dropped down suddenly, momentum putting her into a skid as a long leg swept beneath him in an attempt to cut his legs from under him.

The way of the Exultare encouraged diversion of negative energy to positive; diffuse force into a positive. But then, she was not the one being attack... And so improvisation was called for.

There was very little down time to be had. Almost before Jaden had set his stance, an attack came in, low and fast. This was unexpected for the ebony male. There was no banter! She said nothing in response to his now seemingly clumsily spouted words. Something shown in her eyes he hadn’t seen before now, a deep and challenging determination. It seemed nothing would penetrate the vial of single minded concentration he sensed from the woman now. Her steps, though a little off balance on her first movements as an Optime, were trained and deliberate. Jaden set himself into a different combat mode then before when he realized his words might have more sway if they fell on deaf ears.

The low sweeping kick delivered by the Nomad had good force; enough to take the Shishen right off his feet as it skidded under him on the frosty morning grass. Such a kick was incredibly difficult to divert into any useable means, but Jaden didn’t have time to wonder if that was deliberate on the other warrior’s part. He dove over her kick and used the momentum to complete a quick and tight roll to the left. His landing was perfect and all force of impact rolled right off the man’s shoulders before he came back to his paws. Unlike his opponent, Jaden spent time every other day rolling, motion training, and using his optime form of combat. Only a split second after he hit the grass, he was up and throwing a moderately powered round house kick at the other’s mid section. Then he cut low, throwing two quick as lighting jabs and finishing with an upper cut to the gut, using the tension in his bent knees. The blows he threw were not at full power, not nearly. He knew this was just friendly competition and held back, but the blows would still cause enough discomfort should they land in the intended places.

It no longer felt like a friendly morning romp, but an actual spar had managed to unfold. Her concentration was solely on the movements of the other, not so much ready his strikes but reacting. Despite her clumsy footwork, confidence radiated from every pore and gland. Her hit connected, but in her eyes the Shishen wouldn't have been much of a warrior if he couldn't evade the brunt of her attack. His nimble formed rolled out of the way, providing the aggressor a split second to rise, pushing herself from all fours at again stand on two feet. She felt her senses rise, her veins open as adrenaline sped through, giving her muscles the extra energy they needed to follow through her movements with ease. The corners of her lips trembled, fighting in vain the urge to smile at their development from ambush into a test of skill.

Her eyes never left the black and red form, though her body was subtly turned from him. As he advanced within accompanying banter, she swung around raising an arm to block the kick in a seamless motion. But again her stance was flawed. Awkwardly standing with no bracing footing, rendered her useless in moving away as swiftly as she'd like. The impact tilted her down slightly and as she raised the other arm to grab his leg she was jabbed twice in the torso, winding her for a moment. Instinctively she arms lowered to shield her stomach and it was in that she was spared another blow.

She sharply brought her paw downward to knock the knee away from her vulnerable belly, following through with a lunge forward and an opened hand to his muzzle. Her efforts were all an attempt to put some distance between them, her mind acknowledging her disadvantage in footing. She needed to come at this from another angle. That or drastically adapt her footing if she wanted to remaining standing for much longer.

Jaden’s attack’s landed satisfyingly. His form invaded X’yrin’s defense and he felt confidant she would be overwhelmed. By now the man could feel the energy of battle bursting through him. His blood was hot and moved quickly, saturating itself with adrenalin. He was close enough to his opponent that he could smell the adrenalin in her. In this intoxicating rush, he could swear that her heart beat like bass drum. Its strong sound nearly matched the rapid beat of his. This was too close. Jaden only realized just before his knee was thrust away from its target and an open palm pushed into his muzzle. He managed to turn his sensitive nose and avoid taking the brunt of the counter attack on it and instead had her power thrown into his clenched jaw.

The force of her attack threw the Shishen’s head back. His footing was solid, but the attack still pushed him off balance. He jumped back and kept his footing strong, sacrificing his advantage of intimacy for a split second to plot. This battle needed to have a victor and if Jaden’s training and masculinity had anything to say about who it was going to be, she would loose. The male rushed her, intentionally standing at his fullest height and puffing his fur. He wanted her to see his move as a tackle or some kind of grapple and was counting on a high-aimed counter attack of some sort. Something similar to the palm he had just taken to the face. Hopefully his mass was imposing enough to push a panicked counter out of the woman. If not, he would just follow the show with a quick and easy low leg sweep toward the other warrior’s off balance footing.

Her disadvantage was showing all the more by her uneven footing, but she would be damned if she let that overcome her chances of winning. The warrior was reluctant to back down, even though her opponent had clearly better use of his form. Her steps were more of a hindrance than asset. So used to the Secui form she moved with heavier steps as if to support a bulkier frame even though her present form was anything but. Her swiftness was her only advantage in this, but it too was slowly becoming useless.

As he rushed for her, she did not move. Finding a medium between supporting her weight and bracing, her eyes darting over his form seeking a hint to his attack, she waited with bated breath. Then swiftly her palm again thrust forward, this time with curling digits seeking to grab his muzzle with her large hand in subduing fashion. The other palm thrusting forward toward his chest in an effort to wind him temporarily. But he would have none of that. As his leg swept down to take her legs, she quickly albeit awkwardly, jumped back from her attacker. When her foot touched the ground literally her leg crumpled beneath, dropping the unbalanced form like a stone and right on her tail... again.

The female gave yet another yelp of pain. Her leg and tail awkwardly beneath her, signalling the end of their spar in a rather pathetic display of crumpled limbs. Mentally the woman was scolding herself as tears of disappointment brimmed on her dark rims. She was terribly out of practice. All those seasons without taking the Optime form once. What had she been thinking to believe her body would just automatically remember how to move? Her ears fell back in embarrassment, her hurt gaze looking anywhere but to her companion. "Sorry..."

To the man’s surprise X’yrin was nimble enough, even in her unbalanced state, to hop away from his low sweep. He sprang up and kept the distance between them short. He was prepared to put hands on the woman and would have gone for a submission grapple had she not stumbled and fell to the ground. Jaden barely had time to stop his momentum and slightly stumbled over her fallen form.

Realizing that she had lost her footing and fallen, Jaden knew their spar had ended. He was a little disappointed. Not because of the nimble she-wolf’s performance, but because he hadn’t truly won or been defeated. The enjoyable part of a battle wasn’t the experience itself but the feeling of glory or even defeat. He would have rather been beaten and left to show his dominance another day then for the woman to embarrass herself in this way.

But he held nothing against her. After taking a moment to crouch catch his breath, he bounced back to his feet with a broad grin. He bent low and took her hand and urged the woman up before disrespecting her embarrassment with kind words. Do not apologize because you are out of practice. That was a great brawl! Besides, he rubbed his muzzle a bit theatrically before offering some flattery to hopefully lighten the woman’s mood, I only got lucky that such a graceful warrior lost her balance.

What a turn this came out to be. A morning ambush followed by a harmless bout between packmates. She hadn't the slightest idea what she truly intended for the morning, but for what it transgressed to be, it was certainly entertaining. Even if it did end with her embarrassing herself and roughing her rear yet again.

A generous hand came to her aid, swiftly urging her to stand on her wobbly limbs again. X'yrin hid her shame with a slightly dipped muzzle looking up from beneath her unruly bangs. She felt shame for her performance, but at the same time proud it hadn't fostered complete failure. She was still flexible and able to conduct and hasty dodge if necessary. But if she could just get a handle on her legs...

To the warrior's praise, she smiled bashfully, her lush tail weaving between her thighs and waving shyly. "I don't know about graceful," she said quietly. "Clumsy is more like it, til I am used to moving like this. You are a fast one to keep up with." Then carefully she expression morphed into a more confident smile, one of assurance as she looked to the warrior Shishen. "Perhaps one day I will surpass your speed and you will have to react to me."

In so many words, it was a promise to train, to better her skills and acclimate to this form so that she would pose more of a challenge. It was not the way of the warrior to settle with how they were; always aspiring beyond their capabilities and limits, the warrior resolve knew no bound. Enjoying the soothing morning wind, X'yrin's eye was taken by the hovering body still on its rise. Its warm light bathed the land in a golden hue, melting away the night's chill. "I hope I am not keeping you from your morning routine," she said without turning to look at her companion. Upon her lips rested a knowing smile. "I believe at this time you like to go train before you begin your chores." Though this time, she did turn and look at the Shishen, her smile still adorned though her brows were creased slightly in concern. "I will leave you to it then. And hopefully the next time we do this I'll be more able to hold my own against you. I haven't shown you what I can do just yet." And with that, she swiftly took off back into the Forest midst to continue with her morning routine, forfeiting a further stalk of her obsession to find herself something to eat.

[Exit X'yrin]
