[5:00 AM, October 27th]!

The wandering coyote walked still, the concrete beneath his feet hard and rough on his pads. He heard the soft swish of water nearby, and his dry throat drew him consiously toward the water, where he put his spear down and hopped across the rocks that lined the shore until he was within reach of the water. He got down onto his stomach and dipped his face into the water, drinking deeply of he water. As he drew back up, he saw the oh-so familiar scarred face staring back at him. Carrion slashed his fingers across the top of the water, the image of his face scattering into thousands of different vibrating colors. The water lapped at the rocky shoreline, making soft lapping sounds as it brushed the stone he sat on. He sat up, and looked off at the rest of the city in the distance. He'd been here for several days, and still hadn't found what he was looking for- whatever it was. He doubted he ever would. On a whim, he drew his drums from behind his back and began to just play. The soft sound of bongos echoed out over the water from where he sat on that rock. The coyote sat for maybe an hour there, playing music and relaxing with his feet in the water. Just watching the sunrise.

Sunlight had barely begun to show traces as Bangle stopped to look over the mountains. The grey dawn had seen the merchant off early towards the human city, in search of more supplies for his own needs as well as Cercatori d' Arte's. As half empty satchels slapped at his thighs, the coywolf made his way with his traveling staff towards the outskirts of the city, following the river's course. As his beads rattled in his hair, so did the ornaments on his staff, as the male firmly planted it into the cold, dark earth before striding forward on his own well-calloused feet.

Hardly a sound could be heard save for the gentle lapping of the river, which Bangle always kept by his side. For all of his traveling experiences, the river was the surest way to get anyplace, and still have a source of life running, twisting, and dancing alongside him. Newly fallen leaves crunched audibly beneath his toes, but not a trace of worry was etched on the merchant's face. His mind was not on a fresh kill, but of old and aging bones and things left behind to fall into dust, drowning uselessly into the earth. Bangle's striding halted when the earth began to drum to a different beat in the early hour, one large ear flicking towards the riverbank. It was not a natural beat, and the coywolf's curiosity peaked when, like the changing course of the river, he made for the direction of the sound.

It grew steadily louder as the source of the sound came from the drumming of a coyote, silhouetted by the slowly receding shadows of the morning. The rustling in the bushes, and for all other sounds the Guffawri male produced, the other was sure to hear him coming. At an early hour, Bangle was still loud and cheerful, raising his free hand to wave at the stranger on the wet rock, water lapping at the foot of it hungrily. His feet brushed a multitude of stones as Bangle began to close the distance in between them. "'Elo there, friend! Drummin' up th' morning sun, eh? I 'ear humans used ter need chickens to do that."

Carrion's eyes snapped open once he scented the other male. Obviously he wasn't looking for trouble, else he wouldn't have come from upwind. His hands continued beating out a more basic rhythm, their owner distracted by the approach of the Cercatori coywolf. When he could see Bangle from the corner of his eye, his hands slowed, in case he had something to say. At the greeting, he turned his head, hands stopping to rest on the hide tops of the drums. He flicked a pierced ear in greeting and nodded to him. He smiled at the other's light-hearted way of talking. I'm not drumming up the sun... Just honoring the spirits that raise her to her seat. Words straight out of the mouth of the medicine woman who taught him about the spirits originally. His fingers drummed out a quick rattle as the other male continued his approach. He looked him over, admiring the mask he carried, the colors he wore, the staff he carried. What brings you here... Friend?
