it won't snow where she is going

Word Count → 330 :: I figured she'd be somewhere between Inferni and Salsola in Drifter bay when Zana intercepts her. Hope that works! Smile

The chill that was settling into the air was easily seeping through the coyote girl’s fur and working its way deep into her bones. By judging the darkening clouds overhead, Clover was sure that they would see the season’s first snow with a day or two. The ground was most likely too warm still for the winter powder to stay long, but the first storm of the season was always a set up for more cold weather to come.

The purple tapestry had become a blanket of sorts for Clover, and now she used it as a shawl slung over her bare shoulders. The Lykoi had retrieved her beautiful white mare from the stables, before heading towards the eastern edge of the Thistle King’s kingdom. She aimed to travel close to her former clan’s lands in search of her siblings, whom she had not seen or heard from in quite some time. Now that winter was drawing nearer, Clover was almost certain she would see less of them. It would be smart of her to make one last visit before her traveling was limited.

Hugging the cloth close to her frame, Clover wound her fingers into Daisy’s mane although let the horse steer the way from Salsola. The coyote didn’t have to control Daisy much, for the two had a phenomenal connection – it was as if the mare could pick up on Clover’s energy and decipher what it was that she wanted. Clover attributed it to her closeness to nature and Mother Earth’s blessing.

There wasn’t much that Clover cared to stop and see on the way, so she let Daisy take them towards Inferni at a steady trot. In the meantime, slender fingers occupied themselves by striking the head of a match and igniting one of the joints Clover had tucked away into her headband for future enjoyment. Once smoldering happily, the girl tucked it between her teeth and welcomed deep inhalations of her most favorite sweet smelling herb.

Smile yay for anna!

She was in a lazy mood this day, letting Saol take her where he wanted. The dark near black stallion with the flowing mane of silver trotted down the bay as she nestled lightly along his neck. The small woman had her eyes half closed as the beast lead the way happily. She had just barely raised her head off the neck of her noble beast when she realized that it seemed that Saol was leading her right towards another horse and rider. Zana snorted to herself and rolled her eyes. Of course her friend of horse flesh would find the only horse for miles around and lead the tiny coywolf right to the strangers.

Saol began to slow from his canter as he approached the two, letting out a call of greeting to the mare as he raised his hooves high and arched his neck. Zana rose up on his back at these actions and murmured. "Show off.. always for the girls." She raised her face up to greet the newcomer, not knowing who this beast was, but no ill will having been thrown towards her yet she waited to see what new world this rider came from.

With the white cylinder burning away between her fingers, the young Lykoi woman was slowly letting herself be led to a different state of mind. Daisy still easily led the way, but Clover’s mind wasn’t bothered with the mundane facts of where they were going; she just was. It was the stallion’s greeting that brought Clover’s attention away from inside her own head and back to her surroundings, and she turned straw yellow eyes upon the approaching duo. Daisy gave a soft whinny in response, dropping her head slightly in what could only be described as a sort of curtsy.

The rider upon the dark colored stallion’s back was quite the sight – incredibly small for someone of comparable age. However, Clover didn’t quite understand what she was seeing at first. Instead, the Salsolan woman assumed she was coming across an adolescent – perhaps a youth that had not long ago obtained the ability to shift. "Hello there, darling," she called out to the girl as Daisy brought them closer still. She raised the hand still holding the smoldering joint in a half wave, before smiling and then returning the thing to her mouth. Clover didn’t fear the stranger and took no signs of danger or hostility from her. And in all honesty, Clover was rather excited to perhaps make a new friend from this encounter. She didn’t even stop to consider the possibility that this woman could be coming from Inferni.

[html]The small woman sat back relaxed on the massive stallion as the other horse and rider came within reach on the shore. She smiled lightly at the greeting, assuming it was for Saol and not her. She shook her head slightly and chuckled. "He's already vain enough.." she said as she patted his neck softly, adding, "I'm Zana Lykoi," her eyes trailing to the other woman, wondering just who she was. The scent was one she didn't recognize, but that was no surprise, she hardly knew any of the packs of the lands anymore. She really had her work cut out for her if she was going to lead a life in these parts.

Zana picked at a few stray burrs in Saol's mane as she stole a glance at the larger woman. She hadn't ever really been the jealous type when it came to other females, mostly she tried not to be noticed or take notice of them...but since her return to the clan she was realizing that she wondered just what she looked like in the eyes of others, besides a freak of nature when beauty was ever present all around her in different forms. The woman before her was no different than any of the other females she'd met, she was lovely in her own way, but different just the same.

Now that the duo had drawn nearer to the strangers, Clover was better able to see to whom she spoke. The other woman was very small – even smaller than what Clover would have expected of an adolescent. It was a strange thing, and her brain could not quite calculate what exactly Clover was witnessing. It seemed as if her smoking had begun to fog her mind. Her own gaze found the lilac of the other Lykoi, and Clover silently praised their beauty. It was not a common color and surely she had never seen anything like it before now. She noticed too that the ribbon wrapped around her tail in fact was similar in color. It was a strange thing, the tail wrapping, but Clover actually found it quite beautiful. In those few moments before she spoke again, she found herself wondering if perhaps she could attempt to do that to her own tail, and if it would look as pretty as Zana’s did.

Lykoi? Her soft voice finally responded, gaze rising from the ribbon and finding the lilac of her eyes once more. That’s my father’s name. Her voice grew somewhat softer as she added, We must be related somehow, and gaze flickered to Daisy’s mane of ivory while she tried to recall if she had heard of a Zana before. She couldn’t remember. I’m Clover. Clover Love Lykoi.

Beneath her, Daisy took a step forward, obviously somewhat unsure why they had stopped completely. Clover patted her broad neck silently, while her thoughts remained focused on the woman before her. Are you from Inferni, then? Perhaps she would know of Clover’s siblings and bring news.

She was calm and collective. It seemed that in every such meeting that they found eachother studying the other, any two strangers crossing paths. This time she was surprised to find that it was another kinswoman she had found before her. While she studied the woman's beauty and a slight stab of jealousy overtook her again. She was staring at something she could never fully become and it was an annoyance and a sore spot to the small woman, it always would be, though she never wanted to admit it. Knowing too that they were kin of sorts made it no better though Zana couldn't hold it against another for the way they were born into this world, even if in her heard she longed for what the woman was.

She blinked slowly at the woman as she smiled slightly, trying to fight the gloom that was lingering on the inside. "It seems there's more and more of us throughout these lands than I knew of.." she said as she looked off in the distance. She had no clue how many Lykoi there really were out there, no clue how many of them laid claim in the packs and clans of other places but she knew of many within the borders of her own home, some she loved, others she kept a distance from, and even those she respected. It was like every other kin of sorts, a strange brew that was ready to explode at any moment if the ingredients weren't measured and added correctly.

The small Inferni member grinned at her new companion on horseback as sdhe chuckled. "Does it ring that clear that Inferni is where I reign from?" she teased. She knew she had the looks of an Inferni member if nothing else. But it was true enough, she was a child of the clan. "Yes though, I call Inferni home.. where might home be to you.." she asked. Curiousity getting the better of her.

It seems as if most with Lykoi blood seem to gather there, her thoughts drifting to the occasion when she had happened to discover her sisters living amongst the clan too. It had been such a surreal experience, and the ethereal backdrop of the hot springs made it seem as if it had only been a dream. It was reality, of course, but thinking back to it now it seemed too otherworldly to be real.

Inferni used to be my home, but Salsola has become my new family now. It’s really not far though, so it seems I’m not too removed from my family. Do you know of China? Sage? They’re my sisters, fellow clan members. Surely this Lykoi woman would know of the duo, for they were not easily missed. The three daughters of Razekiel Lykoi pranced about with such coy innocence, and yet seemed to captivate almost any on-looking eye.

She brought the silently smoking thing back to her mouth, sucking at its sweet smoke in earnest. The cozy high it brought forth seemed to embrace Clover like a warm blanket, and the woman most likely would have been content any place at that moment. The fact that she was in presence of family, however, seemed to make things all the better.
