Early morning, on the porch of the Guest House. There's a TON of fog. Word Count »

The jackal stood, arms folded, and stared out at the fog. While he was not often up this early, he had in fact been up all night. Since Sa’adat and Talitha’s disappearance, the healer had spent his days working long nights. His fire kept him warm inside, but the need for both bodily relief and food. There was a decent stock within the Mansion these days, especially since Ezekiel’s newest propositions were beginning. If what he had discussed with the jackal was coming to pass, then Inferni would change for the better.

At least that was the plan. Wrapped in the heavy woolen poncho, Enkiel’s red eyes scanned the length of the fog infested land. It was as if he had passed into the other life. Still, deep, and a smoky white-gray, he could see only a few feet out before the landscape was swept up into nothingness. While unnerving, he had seen far greater things in his travels. Now that they were concluded, however, the healer would settle for what he could get. A single fine hand lifted the warm bowl to his mouth as he lapped up the tea prepared not long ago. It was hardly as well-prepared as Sa’adat could have made, but she was gone and he would settle for what he could manage.

The small woman knew it was fair foolish to explore the lands in the fog but in her own right she lived in the center of their world where the fog and mist never really died. If there was anyone who could learn to live in the fog she could probably count herself among their league with her small form and need for stealth and hiding. She had thrown over her frame the wolf skin pelt, folded the skin double so she could tie both the foreleg and hindleg skins about her throat and shoulders, the face of the dead terror settling on her brow as she bobbed freely through the fog.

The smells of the fire and the territory where the man stood had been damped by the heavy scent of the fog itself, the woman didn't even realize she was coming into the more civilized section of the clanlands until her paws felt the change of earth below her pads. The grass here seemed to fade away, like a game trail or path. She lowered her nose, catching the scent of one who belonged, but not a scent she actually knew.

The small woman let the dead grass she had plucked drift from between her fingers as she softly padded down the trail. Dense swirling fogs wrapping and unfurling from around the grayish yellow cloak skin she wore as she drew almost to the steps of the house not knowing if the owner of the scent she found was looming in the same blanket of fog that enveloped her, not fully wanting to know either.

Halo’s children had been born. He had seen her, briefly, but she was in a foul mood and had no need for him beyond the initial affirmation of their health. Enkiel would bring her medicine for recovery regardless. This was what he was used to—Ezekiel, especially, tended to favor what healing he knew rather than come to the jackal. The others would learn well enough when war came what he was capable of.

His fine fingers gripped the bowl as he saw a shape move in the fog. Though there was no outward change, his body prepared itself for any unwelcomed shape. The thing approaching was certainly too small to be any member he knew…and it looked dead. Half-dead, he reasoned seconds later as the girl appeared at the foot of the steps. She was even smaller than him. That almost made him smile. Enkiel said nothing, but watched her with his dark eyes and waited. Something about her was almost…familiar.

Yay for another AW with the three of us! Mel, I am assuming here that Enkiel and Helotes have already met and that Enkiel helped tend his wounds when he came back from the fight Salvia, this is a couple days later / +411

He felt like shit. For the past two days he had been lying in this dusty, dilapidated room completely hating himself. How could he have been so stupid? How could he have lost so easily? Like a punished child Helotes had confined himself to his room, even turning Kaena away when she had come to investigate after Enkiel had left him. Now, two days later, he still was in here, but he knew he had to get up. The light from the outside world filtered in through the disintegrating curtains hanging over his window, beckoning him to come out.

With a groan he swung his legs over the side of the bed; yesterday he had somehow managed to shift into optime, despite his injuries. The process had taken nearly twenty minutes to complete, but he had succeeded and after adjusting his bandages to fit his new form had felt at least more comfortable, but no less ashamed of himself. Quickly, yet stiffly, Helotes exited his room and swiftly left the mansion, hoping not to attract any attention to himself. Once outside, he just began walking through the cool fog, trying to stretch out his aching muscles

The previous day, he had foolishly walked into Salsola territory, Enkiel had informed him that was the name of the pack to the north. It had been a complete accident, a stupid one on his part; he had stayed on the shore line and missed any scent mark or visual sign that he was entering pack territory. Without warning he had been attacked by a she-wolf with knives for teeth and now… his poor tail. He looked down at the pathetic thing, the entire base of it wrapped tightly in gauze and only the end showing a puff of fur. How embarrassing, his ears drooped. It wasn’t the only major wound he had received however, his entire chest was wrapped up to keep a large bandage tightly pressed against the area between his shoulders; that had been where the wolfess had grabbed him at first, leaving large puncture wounds that would take some time to heal.

Suddenly, a smell caught his nose through the mist, a familiar one. Zana! Oh how she would laugh at him if she saw him now, he was all beat up, he was sure that would amuse her. However, he suddenly longed for her company and moved in the direction that carried her scent, heading straight for the guest house.

[html]ooc: I forgot they were half siblings.. Samael must have some freakish genes with all his minis.

Ribbons of silver and gold had been wrapped about her tail where no fur grew. No fur had grown there for years. She had come to accept the scarring and rat like whip that was her appendage. A fluffy tuff of russet and coal sat on the end of her tail, the only thing that showed that once her tail was whole and complete, and indeed a beautiful thing indeed. Zana even as a child had been vain about her fluffy gorgeous tail, her half brother in attempts to cheer her had bedazzles it with ribbons to show the child she was still beautiful. Still now she laced her tail with bright flashes of satin and silk, hoping that the world would see a fashion, not what was hidden beneath. That small fluff of tail wagged slightly as she realized that she had come to one of the houses of their lands, her lilac eyes finding finally in the fog the form of the newest clan member she had yet to meet.

Hopping onto the porch the small woman tilted her head up to study the other, her voice soft as she spoke. "Hello stranger." she said as she invited herself up. She turned a moment to glance out into the fog once more, realizing that the extremely muffled sound of steps was slowly coming their way. Zana shook the hood to her cloak off her head as her unruly curls escaped their ties, she chuckled softly as she observed. "I hope you like company..." Not yet knowing that it was company she knew and wouldn't mind herself as she watched the second figure approaching in the fog.

The tiny woman greeted him well enough, and Enkiel mused over her appearance ruefully. It was not something he had seen before, though Halo decorated her room with the pelts of her victims. Unfortunately, before he could properly be introduced a second new (and unfortunately, familiar) scent swept into the area. Enkiel focused his sangria-colored gaze forward, dark ears rising to a high, black triangle atop his narrow head.

“I hope you did not get into another fight,” the Aedile mused, voice lacking humor. While he had no issue treating the wounded, it would certainly do no good for his supplies to be used up by some fool looking for war-wounds. He dipped his muzzle back into the warm liquid, enjoying the tingle of the mint as it ran down his throat, and looked down at the girl. “I take it you have met…?” Though he had not introduced himself yet, he did not feel as if it was necessary. She, after all, had approached him. Helotes, on the other hand, had been introduced when he came back with a wounded body and a story of some madwoman in Salsola.

As soon as he caught up to Zana he noticed Enkiel’s form on the porch of the guest house and he hesitated slightly as the jackal spoke sarcastically of Helotes’ propensity for getting into fight. Helotes scowled at him light, Of course not, I have just been able to get myself out of bed for the first time… and yeah we’ve met… He shot a nervous glance at Zana, wondering what she would say about his appearance, especially his tail.

The smell of the tea hit his nose, it smelled amazing. Helotes had never been greeted by so many smells before, tea now, clove cigarettes from Ezekiel before; all in all, the olfactory sensations he had received in Inferni were lovely. Stiffly but trying to seem casual, Helotes sat on the steps of the guest house. His injuries ached, almost to the point of giving him a headache. Oh what he would do for some of his mother’s special weed right now, it always had soothed him.

With a small groan he reached behind him and rubbed the spot between his shoulder blades that throbbed unmercifully, he looked up at Enkiel, You did a fine job doc, but it still hurts like hell. He sighed. How pitiful he must have looked.

Her eyes lit up as she finally realize just who it was who joined them. Her tiny puff of a tail wagged happily as it seemed her newest acquaintance and Helotes exchanged their greetings. Her eyes slid over to eye her cousin as she grinned. "And what happened to you?" she asked, her eyes falling to the bandages on his tail as she asked mockingly anger as she turned her little nose up. "This is not a fashion statement you know, I hope you're not trying to turn it into such." Her words followed with a whip of her tail, the flash of ribbons and a tuff of fur on the end of her tail as she spoke.

Her eyes turned back to the other male as she finally gave her name. "I'm Zana Lykoi, and yes, I know this bit of trouble. " She said with a smile, though two small furrows nested between her eyes as she wondered just what had happened to her cousin to make the large male need to be bandaged up like he'd almost been someone's meal. It would have made sense if it had been her, but Helotes didn't make sense at all to her. She shifted her gaze away from her cousin as the minty scent of the tea caught her attention.

"Just mint?" She asked. She had learned to mix teas, herbs for more energy, to help sleep and to dull the pain, but over time she had also learned that certain berries and fruit, mint and flowers and leaves also were things that could be indulged in, bringing a mild interest in her relatives drink. Of course it still hurt; Enkiel had seen how savagely Helotes had been attacked. It was lucky he had escaped with just a wounded tail. The display told him where the pain was, and Enkiel frowned visibly. He lowered his bowl even as Zana took an interest in it and shook his head slightly. “There is more, but mint is the strongest herb. I can make you some, if you wish.” He kept a large amount of the herbs for tea stocked, finding it the easiest way to medicate.

“As for you…” he added, and lowered one thin hand to the larger coyote’s back. By shifting this over the area, he gauged that the ache was not something that could be solved simply by leaving it alone. “Rest would heal this, but if you wish, I can try and work the muscles loose. I will make a tea for you as well.” Retreating back to where he had left his bowl, he finished what was left with several quick laps and gestured for them to follow. There was no point in having them sit outside, especially when one was wounded and the other clearly had an interest in the uses of herbs. While Ezekiel was a capable medic, it would not hurt to have a third party capable in an emergency.

I <3 massages. Sorry bout the wait. / +283

Right on cue Zana gave him some smart ass remark about his tail and he gave her a look that semi playful and semi ashamed. He’s tail was a sight, all wrapped up and bloody, the stupid Salsola bitch had torn nearly all the fur and skin away at the base. It hurt some terrible, and his muscles were sore from the fight, as well as the run back to Inferni, bleeding the whole way. Enkiel had done a marvelous job patching him up though, so he couldn’t really complain, he just felt so stupid!

Helotes listened as Zana asked about the tea and Enkiel mentioned something about, but he was too self-absorbed in his own misery for the moment to really care. But suddenly, Enkiel moved behind him and put his hands on him. Helotes tensed at the contact, but then relaxed, knowing he had nothing to worry about at the hands of the healer. He mentioned rest, which is all the Helotes had been doing for the past couple days, that’s why he had gotten out of the mansion in the first place, but then the Imperium suggested that he could work the muscle loose. Helotes wagged his tail slightly; the prospect of a good rub down was just what he needed at the moment.

Standing stiffly, he gave Enkiel an awkward smile, That would really be appreciated, doc. And then he shot a glance at Zana, just daring her to say something about it. Perhaps Enkiel would give her one too, even though she didn’t seem to really need it, but Helotes was glad that he was being offered some physical therapy; his full recovery would not come soon enough.

She did little more than smile sweetly at Helotes after she had teased him so ruthlessly about his injuries. She would have told him that she was glad he was still alive but something caught the words in her throat so she just sat there and watched the two males interacting.

In just a few moments her ears pricked forward when Enkiel spoke of the herbs and tea. She licked her lips at the thought of sampling tea once more, wondering what else he had in stores as she nodded agreement. She fidgeted slightly as she watched Enkiel testing the muscles on Helotes back, speaking of working them lose and making the larger male feel better.

Enkiel spoke once more of making her some tea and she smiled softly. She was interested in watching how Enkiel was going to help Helotes and the offer of tea was too much to turn away from. "Yes please.." She said softly as she twitched her tail slightly as she watched Helotes stand up and Zana quietly stood up as well to follow the two males inside.

The jackal frowned, but it seemed as if his face only varied between neutral and a frown. Enkiel knew that his concept of rest was not the sort most members subscribed to. Gabriel alone had listened, but then again, Gabriel had been unable to walk for several long weeks. Of course a broken bone was far more serious than a few deep cuts and bruises. The woman that had done this to Helotes surely had done so in a rage—they were jagged and savage wounds, after all.

Heading inside, Enkiel led the two to one of the empty rooms. Vesper still had the claim in his patient room, but the jackal had been clearing out a second for such events like these. After leading them inside, he excused himself to gather some of the still hot water steaming away on the wood-fire stove. Vesper was not there, but he was not worried—she was no longer at death’s door, after all.

Enkiel returned with two bowls, and handed these two his guests. “After you drink this, Helotes, lay there.” He did not ask, as was his custom. The bed itself was not human made, and had been constructed by Ezekiel. Wooden in form, it was an elevated thing made of wooden staves. Atop this a pillow that fit lengthwise along these was laid, constructed of deer hide and stuffed with down. It was not extremely plush, but sat atop a mass of dried grass that softened the area between the bed and the frame.

The three of them entered the humble guest house, and the smell of linens and medical supplies hit first, followed by a scent that was peculiarly familiar, though he could not quite place it. Enkiel lead them into an empty room, one that held a bed obviously constructed by Luperci hands as well as a wood stove upon which a iron kettle steamed. Helotes stiffly sat on the edge of the bed as Enkiel bade him too, and graciously accepted the tea that was given to him. It smelled divine, and Helotes nearly went to lap the extremely hot liquid without thinking, but pulled back at the last second, much to the relief of his pink tongue.

The dark Lykoi waited a moment, and turned to his little cousin, the bowl looking quite massive in her small hands, If you’re wondering what happened to me, some bitch in Salsola attacked me while I was off guard. It embarrassed him to admit this, but best she hear it from him rather than whispers behind his back, I was stupid and didn’t see the signs of the border, but she didn’t even warn me, just attacked. He scowled, this was what had really angered him about the whole situation. He himself was not the most gracious, but at least he gave trespassers a chance to explain themselves or to know what they had done wrong before giving them a beating; this wolfess had lacked any such tact.

Helotes focused on the tea again and gave it a soft blow before sipping it down quickly. It tasted interesting, quite pleasant, and as soon as he was finished he could feel its warmth emanating from his stomach outward. With a sigh he moved slowly to lie on the bed and waited for Enkiel’s touch.

Zana had followed the two males inside and had quietly examined the room while Enkiel prepared the tea. The sweet aroma of the combined scents filled the air as she moved beside Helotes as he began to explain to her how he had acquired his wounds. She growled slightly at the story, remembering that Ezekiel had given slight warning about the pack the female had belonged to though she still wondered what they had to hide within their lands that they so feverishly guarded.

Her lilac eyes turned to Enkiel as he handed her the steaming bowl of tea. She inhaled deeply, the scents intoxicating as she felt herself begin to relax already. "Thank you..both.." she said softly as she craddled the hot liquid between her paws, watching Helotes finish his quickly before settling on the bed as Enkiel had directed him. The tiny luperci woman carefully climbed onto theframe and perched beside the pillow, facing Helotes as she finally began to drink her cooling tea. She was rather curious to what the healer was going to do for her larger cousin and she hoped she was out of the way perched on the grassy mattress at the head of the be frame.

Sliiiight pp of him getting on Helotes. Also, he's rubbing his deltoid. Word Count » +3

The idea of someone attacking without warning was not uncommon to Enkiel; he had been here, after all, during the war. He knew that savages lived everywhere, and this was not something to be overlooked. Wolves were wolves, after all—the jackal praised the gods that he had not been born such. Divinity had been graced with his blood, though his mortal form was hardly capable of what his spirit could manage. Sa’adat alone had been told the truth, and she had believed him wholly; these heathens and non-believers would not understand what it was to be a god reincarnated.

Luckily, the bed was made from strong wood and barely bowed under the little combined weight from the three. Two small bodies barely accounted for a second person, though the lean jackal was not concerned with this. The frame was low enough to the ground that even if it did happen to collapse, it would be only a few inches. He himself joined the two on the bed, and settled onto the darker coyote’s rear. It would keep him steady and allow for the proper amount of force to be given, something that leaning would not allow. Uncaring as to whether or not the coyote minded him straddling the darker man, Enkiel bent and began pressing his palms over Helotes’ back.

His method was one of detection, aiming to find where the pressure lay as well as sense the muscles underneath. “You are lucky,” Enkiel commented, finding a knot and applying pressure with his fingers in strokes that followed the muscle. “If she had cut this,” he emphasized by rubbing at the swollen area near the shoulder blade. “You would be crippled.” Like Gabriel, he thought, though did not speak it aloud. The ex-Aquila was a memory now, for he had left them for the woman he loved. Enkiel did not find fault in this; he had led faithfully until his son assumed the role, and his purpose had passed.

It wasn’t long before Enkiel came towards the two, as Helotes swiveled an ear to listen to Zana’s gratitude. He wasn’t quite sure what she was thanking him for, but it made him feel even more depressed then before. Why would anyone thank him now? He had failed, he had not shown Inferni’s strength through his own. Once he had fully recovered he would have to prove himself again by training hard to make up for his mistake

The small jackal male straddled Helotes, which didn’t much bother the Lykoi; he had been with men before, though it was while intoxicated. Helotes did not have much of a personal bubble, which came in handy when being a close hands fighter… or lover for that matter. He smirked at this thought but it was quickly twisted into a yowl of a mix of pleasure and pain as the Doc applied pressure to a sensitive part of his shoulder. Helotes suddenly fell into pained giggles; the touch both hurt and felt so good that he wasn’t sure whether to cry or laugh.

Biting his lip to shut himself up, he relaxed the best he could and listened as Enkiel mentioned how close the bitch had come to really hurting him. This sobered the Lykoi up, and he looked at the floor in thought; he never wanted to be put into that kind of situation ever again.

The small girl peered over Helotes back as Enkiel began to work at his muscles. While Zana herself didn't like her space invaded, it was small enough as it was, she had little problem with invading others. In no time at all she had shifted from the front of the mattress to nearly wedging herself alongside Helotes neck and cheek to get a better view of what Enkiel was working at. She let her slight upper body rest on Helotes shoulder as she pointed at the muscle the healer was working on when Helotes began to giggle. "Do that again..." she asked, slightly perplexed as to what Helotes found funny about what the healer was doing.

She felt the darker hued cousins body still though as Enkiel spoke of the dangers of the fight he had been in. The small woman pulled on her cousins ear and said firmly. "So stop playing with all the pretty faces. Some have thorns and poisons too." She tugged at a lock of his mane absently as she added. "On second thought..you should meet my sister Firefly..she'll make you wanna forget all about the mysteries and wonders of desire..." though she knew that the woman would drag him through the roses, finding every vine, bramble and thorn along the way to prick his heart and soul with before giving him a lashing he would never forget with her tongue and probably a few physical scars just to remember her by. She snickered at the thought and hoped that he hadn't indeed been chasing some tail to wind up this way. He had said he had been of guard after all.

Used to such reactions, Enkiel ignored them. His fingers worked over the muscles, feeling knots and swelling, recognizing what was caused by the wounds and what was caused by stress. He made mental notes as he worked rhythmically, black hair falling at his shoulders, eyes focused on the man’s back. Zana’s presence was noted but it was not such that the doctor was bothered.

“The bandage should come off your tail soon,” he added, finishing with one knot. The lean jackal sat upright and cracked his own back with one arching motion, pale fur bristling against the cold. He shifted his weight and began to run his knuckles along Helotes’ spine, occasionally pressing down to test whether or not his back needed cracked. He said nothing more. Enkiel was not a man who spoke much, and when he did it was hardly conversational.

Helotes watched Zana with keen eyes as she slipped down to rest basically on the crook of his neck. Her tiny breasts pressed down upon his shoulder as she watched Enkiel with intrigue and the Lykoi smirked to himself. She was a saucy little thing, he was glad he hadn’t bothered her too much when they had first met; she seemed like a good friend to have.

His little cousin made some witty remarks and Helotes’ eyes rolled to peer at her venomously. She was such a little brat for getting on him, it reminded him of his sister in a way, who always gained pleasure in his torment. But he couldn’t help but smile when she mentioned her own sister, and imagined a regular sized version of Zana; no wouldn’t that be fun? Ha! I'd love to meet her then. he said with a smirk.

Helotes let out a contented groan when Enkiel’s knuckles slid down his spine, causing goose bumps to rise under his fur and his umber eyes to roll back into his head. He had never had a massage like this before, by the hands of someone who knew what they were doing, and it was unimaginably wonderful. Enkiel pointed out that the wrapping on his tail could soon come off and that brought him relief; Good, it itches something fierce... It was such a silly thing having one’s tail wrapped up like this, he wondered how Zana felt about it.

Zana was quiet a moment as she watched Enkiel finishing up his work on Helotes back. She wagged her tail slowly, knowing she was probably swatting Helotes across the nose, but silently reminding herself that he probably deserved it for one reason or another. She grinned to herself and shook her head as she thought on Helotes comment about her sister, ignoring the glares he sent her as she yawned and finally shook her head. " If you met her...I think you would rethink that..." she hated to tell him that Firefly would bend him to her will, use him and spit him out when she was done. The woman did little without finding gain for herself, though she wondered what her sister would think she could gain from an Infer I member. She didn't want to even think about it.

Her eyes turned back to Enkiel for a moment when he spoke of Helotesvwounds. She frowned and ignored the comment Helotes made. She could feel little from the base of her tail almost to the tip so she wasn't certain why his would be itching something fierce. She figured that being cleansed with fire could do a lot to change ones appearance and sensitivity but she never stopped to realize just how much it had changed her. She frowned, her brows furrowed together as she asked. "is that it?" wondering if the healers actions had actually helped her dark hued cousin. She knew little of massage therapy and the actions and swiftness perplexed her to no end.
