I offer you an olive branch [Part 3]

blagh, fail post
October 8th

Words held no meaning to the ivory coated mother so she reveled in her silence. She watched her son interact with with the brown woman, a small and sad smile upon her face and mourning in her eyes. Gemma found herself suddenly blinking back tears again as she thought of what fate held for him, a suffering life and then an abrupt death ending his time before it had even begun, it was so monstrously unjust for everyone involved. How much more would she had to suffer through this pain. Wasn't it enough she was damaged and scarred without adding more to it.

Self pity welled up inside of her as it did every now and again and the woman sat herself down upon the bed with a soft sigh. Her arms wrapped around her torso and she stared at the floor, her mind whirling. She looked up at the brief sound of Tawny's voice, although no hope rose at the words, she had nothing to hope for, only that she could make her son's life as happy as could be before he passed on,

"I didn't know he was a medic." A statement, not a question. She didn't particularly care either way.

Tawny was not happy with the situation. Gemma was not being a great mother at all, and the young woman knew all about horrible parents. Holding the little one closer, she tilted her head down and nuzzled his neck, snuffling softly and earning a coughed giggle. It was clear that the sickness, whatever it was, was going to kill him sooner or later. With the horrible way his lungs sounded, she was sure it was going to be soon. When the time came Gemma would break, as a caring mother always did. However caring the white woman was, though, she wasn't doing a very good job with allowing her son to have a good life while it lasted.

G...Gemma, I'm s-s-sorry. Tawny shook her head a little bit and crawled closer to the woman on her knees, holding the baby securely. He n-needs...friends? Her wide, innocent eyes looked up at the other woman as she stroked Jaden's fur, knowing that she would want someone to love her and friends to be around if she was going to die soon. Sighing softly, she slowly crawled forward until she was right near Gemma's legs, resting her side against the bed and holding the little puppy up to it's mother.

"Um...he is a ch-child...he needs to act like one."

Her mind was working now, the cogs turning. Maybe Matteo could save him. After all she would never know if she didn't try. It would haunt her forever if she didn't at least try, she owed it to Jaden to not give up on him until it was obvious that nothing would work. She owed it to Giuseppe as well, and herself. It getting along with the backstabber was the price she had to pay for her son's health and life then so be it. Jaden was happy to play in his own way with Tawny but she knew he would always love her more than anyone else, she was his moma.

"He can't play. He doesn't have the energy to. After a few minutes he tires out and falls asleep." Jaden twisted at the sound of her voice and stared at her with those wide pale green eyes and their other worldliness chilled Gemma right to the bone. Death was calling him and it was only a short time before he answered. She took him from Tawny as she girl crawled closer and her knees and handed him out to her, she was decided now, she looked down at the brown woman with a small frown on her face,

"He needs to see Matteo. Will you take us there." She said this despite the fact that Gemma already knew where he lived.
