Big Grin

She hadn't left the packlands in some time, but had chosen to head out for a couple of days to get a look at how life had changed outside of Anathema. Naniko hadn't gotten to exercise like this in a while, used to the sloping terrain of Anathema and used to taking many more breaks than she was doing now. She didn't have any place to go in particular, but had stopped outside of Inferni's borders to check on them before contin uing on down the coastline. The Angela was interested in seeing what the coyotes were up to, but no one had come out to greet her or warn her away so she had taken her leave. She knew better than to linger too long; the likely scenario was that someone had in fact seen her but they had gone back to get reinforcements, she believed.

Better to move onto more peaceful neutral territory and leave the coyotes to do whatever it was that coyotes did with their spare time. The female had continued along the coast for a couple of hours before smelling something odd, a scent that made her stop in her tracks. It was almost as if a pack border had been established...though it didn't smell very old. Recent, strong...but there was something familiar about the scent that made her think of Crimson Dreams. The Angela had no intentions of returning to those lands any time soon, and hesitated as she tried to decide what to do next. She didn't want to go any farther in, but wasn't certain of why these scent markers were here, where there had previously been nothing.

Slowly but surely Kingsbury was shaping into a real home for the Cavalierites. While there was still plenty of work to be done, the village showing obvious signs of occupation and their numbers had already grown since their founding. It seemed everyday brought new visitors to their borders and Anann had been making regular rounds around their inland borders throughout the day, as well as ensuring the others did the same. She felt it was especially important to keep the borders regularly checked and freshly marked as they established themselves. They had yet to experience any trespassers and the Luna hoped to keep it that way.

A noticeable path was already beginning to form around the edge of their land claim from the repeated travel of paws and hooves alike. While the canines were often preoccupied with building Kingsbury into a village that would fit their needs, Rem often had little to do with much of the grunt work being taken over by the mare Anann had acquired and had taken to lingering along the borders.

The large black stallion was the first to come across the pale wolfess standing near their borders. Having come to a stop some distance off, the friesian gave a loud, forceful snort of alarm as he stared at the wolf. There was no fear in the beast and he held a stature of authority, or perhaps just that of an alerted horse, with his head held high and angular ears pressed forward. Moments later, having been within earshot of the horses rather disgruntled noise, Anann appeared at an easy jog. ”Hello there. I am Anann Kelevra, alpha female here. This is Casa di Cavalieri.” A gentle smile on her lips as she extended her arm in a jester of the lands beyond the scented boundry. The scent of the other female was enough to tell Anann that she was also a leader, though Anann was not familiar with the pack scent she carried. ”Might I ask what brings you to our borders?” Simple curiosity seemed the most likely, but Anann hated to assume anything.

Patrolling? Border marking? Really?

That was the amazing job Fia said he'd be doing today? I need to have a talk with that girl about what's amazing and what's plain boring. Combat training would've been a much better way to waste time between lessons. Gunnar thought grumpily, lumbering along in his lupus form, his right hind leg favored and off the ground most times.

His jumpy, limping gaint was interrupted when he spotted a black horse nearby, in his way to continue his patrol. He was about to check the critter out, to figure out why the big stallion was so far from the city, when Anann showed up, greeting someone just out of his viewing range. Hidden in the shadows, he watched and listened, then approached cautiously.

She might've needed some back up if the visitor turned out to be hostile, right? Right.

The sight that greeted him was a welcomed surprise. Naniko! Instantly he showed himself, tail waving behind him but kept low, keeping a respectful distance from Anann and making sure not to act like a fool in front of his new alpha... and old.

Lady Naniko! He greeted, raspy voice strained as usual. Anann, this is Anathema's Angela... er... leader. Naniko D'Angelo. He introduced politely, as well as offering the tawny woman a nod in greeting and respect before letting the girls speak for themselves. His eyes were shining with excitement. If Naniko could spare time away from the pack, that meant everything must've been well there. Maybe he could send a message back with her for his mother! Oh, how worried Valinta must've been by now.

He might also have the chance to explain why he'd left in the first place. What of Esme now? Was she still in Anathema? Causing trouble for some other poor victim? Torturing her slave? Whatever the case, he was curious to know. He held his tongue for the moment, though, having already spoken out too much for his liking. He knew Naniko would've swatted him for his bad manners had he still have been in Anathema greeting a visitor on their borders. Hopefully Anann was more understanding.

Necklace picture: Here

Packs came and left, this much was true. Naniko had not been out of Anathema in a long time and had not made rounds to the other packs to see many of them. Ichika was easy to visit because it was so close...but with the birth of the pups especially, she had not had much time to spare. Theodore had disappeared at just the wrong time for her, right before the pups were born, but she had Alaki now to help her out with things and canines to watch the pups when she needed it. It was nice to be able to get out and stretch her legs some more without having a whiny little brat trailing behind her.

A large horse was the first to notice her presence, and she made no movement toward it as it approached. In Anathema they used crows as scouts, having placed them at various points around the border and around the cave system...perhaps they used horses here. Who knew. It seemed as if this might be the case, as another canine soon approached. She held back, keeping her hand clear of her weapons-belt. She did not want to scare the other or give any indication of aggression. Naniko wore no clothing, just her weapons-belt, which carried two daggers on one side and a short axe on the other.

"Greetings." She said in return. The female said that she was the alpha female, words which perplexed her. Apparently there was a pack here, a brand new one from the smell of things. "Right. Well..I am Naniko D'Angelo--" She was interrupted by a new but familiar voice, a voice matched by the sight of a large black canine bounding toward the pair. "Gunnar" She said, head tilting to the side in thought. "I had been wondering where you'd gotten off to, boy. All joined up here, then?" She held no ill will in her voice; pack members were free to come and go from Anathema.

"I came to investigate this new pack...and bring a small token." She said, her hand moving to the small pouch on her weapons belt. She pulled a long necklace from it, one that she had carried with her since her last trip to the old human city. She'd used it for her Halloween costume as a queen, but had returned it to the pouch soon afterward. The Angela held the beads out to Anann. The necklace shone in the light as the sun's rays hit it, sparkling.

I stopped where I did cause I was told that Jazper visited Naniko during the war and I wasn't sure if he would have told her about the his plans for the pack and all that??? so yea...

Anann gave
the pale wolfess before her a once over as she had started to introducing herself.  The strong scent she carried was enough to tell Anann that she was a fellow leader, though of which pack she couldn't be certain for
it was not a scent she was familiar with, though there was something about the smell of the woman that nagged at the back of her mind, reminding Anann of the ochre Knight of Cour des Miracles. This Naniko
appeared to be a close match for Anann in height and mass. The pale furred woman appearing just as toned and fit as Anann herself causing Anann to entertain the idea that perhaps they could have
a friendly sparring match sometime. The idea of sparring was never far from Anann's mind, however. Rem was seemingly paying little attention to either wolf at this point as he nibbled at whatever foliage was about,
though he kept an ear in on the conversation.

Before Naniko had even finished introducing herself they were interrupted by a curly pelted male. Gunnar, wasn't it? Jazper had told her a little about the recent addition to their
ranks and that he was apparently smitten with the Sole's daughter. Anann gave the young man a stern look of disapproval for his interruption, but her gaze softened as it became obvious that the two were previously acquainted and apparently
Gunnar had even belonged to Naniko's own pack, Anathema, at some point. It was a relief to the Luna when it seemed that Naniko harbored no hard feelings over the matter.

It was not the first time, nor would it be the last, that someone had come to investigate the new pack. In time Anann or Jazper would make their way around to visits all of the packs and
offer their own tokens of friendship. "Oh, Thank you." Anann said with a respectful dip of her head as the glimmering string of beads was produced from the pouch and offered, a golden hand extended to accept the gift. Dark brown eyes looked
over the beads as she gently coiled them around her hand, having no where else to store them for the moment. "Well, as I have said, I am Anann, the Luna here or alpha female if you prefer and Jazper Knight-Rhiannon is our Sole,
alpha male."
She paused a moment before she would continue to explain their goals of training warriors and building alliances incase Naniko had her own questions to ask first.

Derp. Sorry for the wait. Skip me if Gunnar isn't posted to. :3 / +228

He hadn't even noticed Anann's stern stare at first, but he caught it just as it was fading from her eyes. He grinned stupidly in a silent 'sorry' but otherwise didn't pay it much more mind than that.

Gunnar smiled at his ex-leader's tone, understanding in a way, or at least he figured. He envied that about Naniko; she was always so patient. He'd never really seen her lose her temper at all. She always seemed in control, even thought he'd left without a word. My apologies, Angela. I'll explain why I left if you've got time later. He lowered his head a bit as a show of apology, then remained silent as the women conversed.

He found himself glancing over at Anann more than Naniko; he'd never met her before. She probably knew about him though; She and Jazper were co-leaders, partners in rank. There was no doubt in the hybrid's mind that the two had discussed his relations with Fia by now, considering how 'well' Jazper had taken it. He hadn't even started to properly court the girl yet and already he had Daddy Dearest to fear. Hopefully Anann wasn't like, Fia's aunt, or something. That would just mean more-- Wait, what? Why would that matter?

Gunnar shook off his thoughts and sat off to the side politely, not wanting to interrupt again. Leader business, really.
