All was quiet and peaceful in the forest, the silence broken only by the rustling of the leaves and the singing of the birds. The sun was hot and warm today, a rare sunny day as the weather begun to take a turn for the colder and winter began to roll in. Kostya was taking full advantage of the warm weather to sun himself; he had been working hard over the last few days to restock his den and had decided to treat himself to a day of relaxation.
And so here he was, lying peacefully on his back in the middle of a leafy clearing where a small patch of sun, big enough to encompass him, broke through the leaves. Kostya lay completely still, eyes shut and legs relaxed as the sun slowly lured him to sleep.
One of the main reasons that Kostya was taking the day off was to let his recently gained wounds, two sets of bear claws across his stomach and chest, get a little more rest. The wounds had mainly sealed over by now, but the flesh was still a vivid redish-pink and very sore, which was primarily why he lay like he did, on his back with his belly facing into the sun, the warmth of the sun soothing the ache of his wounds slightly.
Perfectly content with the world, Kostya just lay there, enjoying the sun.
