It is quite hard to be sure when Bambi came up with the idea of collecting small critters. She loved her kitty Nana, but she was aging. She thought about it often.. And even with the cat reassuring her she would be around for a long while, Bambi knew otherwise. As she approached the stable, she could hear the horses get a bit excited. They were no doubt more used to wolves now then they were when the humans first disappeared.. The young girl didn't understand why humans would have chose to ride in items with wheels rather then on horses. For one, horses were fast. She had no idea how fast those things called 'cars' could have gone. But while using a wagon once or twice to bring back a kill to her slave master, she had hit a bump or two and had it almost completely fall apart. Plus, with horses, there was connection. A horse was a powerful animal. A strong, prideful beast. It trusted you completely to not allow it come to harm, and in return it gave the security of allowing you to know that it had no intention of leaving you. Bambi had never really gotten close to a horse, but back in her old slave camp they had wolves who would cater to the horses. They weren't really allowed to ride them- Though some times the beasts developed a stronger attachment to their care takers then to the ones would rode them themselves. On a few nights when they were all bundled together on the floor of the locked, windowless cabins, the horse caretakers would share stories about the connections they had shared with the mystical animals.. Some times even hinting at the idea that there was enough of them for all of the slaves to take one and ride away into the night.

As she got closer to the barn, she breathed in the scent of the animals and their surroundings. They hay had a sweet sort of smell, one that teased her nostrils and drew her in. When she entered the barn she greeted the horses silently, caressing their faces and touching her nose to theirs. Normally she could stay here for hours, studying their behavior and untangling each of their manes that had became knotted.. But today, she was on a mission. She unhinged the lock that held one of the horses in, then led the chosen mare out. She recognized this horse as spot.. The darkened spots that covered her body made her look unique, and that in turn made her easily recognizable. Now that the horse was freed, she followed Bambi eagerly.

It took the wolf but a few minutes to find what she was looking for. Being in her fully shifted form, she found it rather easily to pick up the pelts she had located. They were from various animals, and came in a range of sizes. Some were older then others, and a few had some holes in them.. But she didn't mind. "They will do the job." After tossing the items over her shoulder and preparing to go she caught a glimpse of something else. It seemed to be a handle of sorts.. Bambi gave way to her curiosity, tugging on the handle a few times until it gave way. From beneath a few pelts, a woven basket was revealed. It was medium sized, and would prove to be perfect for collecting what she needed. The dogs eyes lit up, and she woofed at Spot. The horse had left for a moment, circling the barn and prancing around aimlessly. Bambi trusted her not to run off. She climbed upon the horse, a bit wobbly as she tried to get used to being off her feet. She had tried this a few times, but it never seemed to get any easier. Bambi would spend the rest of her day collecting wood, and other various items to help her build a habitat for the creatures she would soon introduce into her home and study.
