Chione Keisari

ooc text. Private: Vesper and Helotes. Backdated to the 18th. Pictou river, between Halcyon Mountains and Salsola.

The wooden chariot creaked to a halt as the river bent came into view. The abnormal cloudless blue sky was surely deceiful; outisde was pretty chilly. Not that it really mattered for the chariot's owner and rider, as she hopped off the driver's seat and skipped her way to the brownish mule pushing the wagon-trailer. White palms petted the hosrt haired muzzle as the equine nsorted camly at the oh so familiar touch.

Orangeish-brown eyes stared into dark almond ones, a silent chit-chat between the two animals before they departed, big paws stirring the beast near a tree, where they parked the mobile. "Off ye go, Mora!" The short luperci allowed, tapping the female mule on the haunches. It trotted gladly for a while, and finally went to find a good patch of grass.

Chione, then, turned to the side of the wagon, unfurling the fabri and extending it with the help of two bamboo poleswhich were quickly fixed to the ground. A simple shelter from the open. Once that was clear, she went to the back, and opened the symmetric doors, the familiar scent of tea, incense and ashes filled her nostrils as she entered. Dodging mechanically the multiple things stored inside, she fumbled a bit to dig out a specific package. As the young Keisari removed the objects from the box, delicate chubby fingers rubbed against the smooth surface of the inked porcelain, numb claws tracing the multiple details on the patterns, Oh, how easily she began to wander back to the days with her pack, where she and the other young girls would serve tea to the elders.

Stop it, silly! No time for self-pity right now! Silly, silly, silly! The emepror dog shook her head furiously, as if those thoughts would be flailed away with the violent movements. Sure crafter's hands held the pot steady and safe the whole time, but now rested it and the rest of the set on a make-do wooden table. She picked a few firewood she kept well supplied (you never know!) and a small tinderbox. Once outisde, she set the wood pieces nice and carefully and worked out a small fire. As it grew, she brought out the tea set, an empty jar and small wooden bow with entailed cherry blossoms. The wandering femme left them all except for the jar, which she took along with her to the river.

The freezing cold water tickled gently at her big chubby feet, but she didn't mind it much. The black and white female filled her jar and went back, passing Mora on the way. She was greeted with a low neigh, but it was more than enough an awknowledgment. She made her way back, the fire already at full. Teapot filled and on the fire, she knelt down by the warm glow, closing her eyes as she waited for it to boil. Her things were nicely set in an overly organized manner in front of her, just waiting to be used.

As the girl waited, eyes closed, she let the sounds and smells fill her mind, every note of smells in the air, every note of sounds in the air, unconsciously searching for any sing of company. Tea was no fun with no one to share it with.

Woot! / 442

It seemed that her wanderings from Inferni went farther and farther, though it was more of a return to normalcy rather than a change for the former loner. Vesper liked being out and exploring again, accompanied by the thought that she could return to a “home” if she wished rather than having to scout out a suitable place to rest. It was the easy way out, but she was beginning to see the advantages of having a clan and a static den within guarded territory.

She headed northwest from the borders now, walking through the plains. She’d already passed the fields of dying flowers and turned her sights now on the river winding in the distance—probably one whose origins were at the falls, if her memory was correct. The thundering cascades had frightened her, but she wasn’t as flighty at the thought of swift water now that she was on more or less level ground. It would be difficult for her to lose balance even in her two-legged form, which she walked along in at a careful pace.

Eyelids fell slightly over sky blue eyes as the coywolf wondered where today’s journey would take her. She figured that she could perhaps find a way to gather fish from the river, even if she had to resort to lying on her stomach and clawing underwater, but her thoughts quickly flashed from food to curiosity as she spotted a fire in the distance, as well as what looked like a wagon. Had a traveler come from across the mountains?

The chance to speak to another loner who had experience outside of Nova Scotia drove her onward. She loped with new ease across the field toward the riverside, where she could see now that a table and fabric-covered shelter accompanied the fire. That sure is a lot to bring with you, she thought, wondering if this person traded for a living. Vesper wasn’t used to having any personal belongings, let alone a traveling home. She’d always had to make do with her own wits and whatever the earth could produce for her—hands not being one of those things.

Perhaps against her better judgment, without quite as much of the caution she would have had as a loner, the slender tawny hybrid trotted closer to where she saw another canine knelt by the flames. The stranger was adorned in a strange outfit, though that was normal compared to the stripes of bright color on her cheeks. Eyes widening slightly, Ves came to a halt and cleared her throat.

“Hello,” she greeted, ears turned back uncertainly until she noticed the pot. “Are you cooking something?”

Helotes is a ways off so don’t acknowledge him until the second round Smile / +300

Helotes had slept in that morning, in the grass under the tree, and he would have slept longer if the chill hadn’t kept under his fur like icy fingers. He had gotten up then, seen that Yegua was already having her grass breakfast, and decided it’d be best to head back to Inferni. It was the first time he had spent the night away from the D’Neville mansion, and he muscles ached in protest from sleeping on the hard ground. Luckily it wasn’t raining anymore as it had been the day before, and though cold Helotes decided to take his time heading back, leading Yegua instead of riding her.

The previous day he had run into a cousin outside Salsola, and the two had conversed and her free spirit had soothed his aching pride. Now he felt rejuvenated, and he walked very upright, almost regal looking, had it not been for his somewhat untidy mane. As he walked his though about various things, but foremost it was his siblings and mother that came to his mind; he missed them and wondered what was taking them so long to join him in Inferni. A knot would form in the pit of his stomach when he thought about anything bad happening to them, especially his mother and sister, but knew that Jacinto and Columbine would protect them above all else.

After a bit of a walk along the edge of the Pictou River a family scent came to his nose; he was immediately reminded of Enkiel and knew that it was tea he was smelling. Interesting; and now in the very far distance he could see the bright glint of a fire. Luckily he was downwind, and new whoever was there cooking tea would not notice him until he was much closer.

Chione Keisari

ooc text. --.

Wind carried out sound and smell, Chione noting them all in her mind. But one that caught her attention was the husky scent and the paddling of feet on the dry grass of another wolf. She didn't move at that, and instead stood still in her position, analising the newcomer before akwnowledging her presence. Female, coyote-wolf hybrid, a few notes notural to a loner, but masked over the recent smell of a pack. And not just any pack; there was plenty of other hybrids mixed in that.

The newcomer apporached with a simple hello. A smile crept on the emperor wolf ever so slowly before she opened her warm orangeish eyes, that typical glint of joy in her eyes. The small girl basked on the image of the other one. Beige, white and blueish grey mixed together to form her fluffy pelt, scars showing here and there, grayish mane a wee bit messy and short, but somehow matched her overall self.

"Ello!" The girl greeted with her slightly locked accent, as if certain sounds faded and choked within her throat, remaining unspeaken. Her mixed-up culture was to blame, mostly. At the questioning, she turned her gaze to the boiling teapot. "Why yes, 'm makin' some tea! Nothin' like a warm cup'a cherry tea t' ease the col', woul't you say?" The girl spoke, her rather childish voice finally revealing her true bubbly nature. She closed her eyes and widened her smile into an open grin. "Woul'ya mind t' join me??" She chirped a bit, offering a hand to guide the other to the nearby seat, smile still glued to her face.

She girl then proceed to open the wooden box, pinch out a few dried cherry fruits, leaves and bark, and scatter them into the heating pot. Once the lid was on again, she turned to the other, black tail wagging from side to side, sweeping the fallen autumn leaves on the ground with it. "Name's Chion' Keisari! What'ur name is, if I might 'sk?" She asked, hands on her lap, giggles in her talk, smile on her face and curiosity in her eyes. How thrilling; barely have started over this territory and she gets to have a tea partner!

Blah crappy post. / +384

The black and white wolfdog rose to look at her, a smile curling back on her lips. She was somewhat short in stature, Vesper could see now, though the coyote hybrid wasn’t that big herself. Her oriental outfit was unlike anything the coywolf had seen around Nova Scotia before, and a long black braid swung close to the ground as she turned to look at the approaching woman.

Her voice was accented when she spoke, but that didn’t surprise the coywolf after noting her unusual décor. She was still understandable even if the syllables were oddly clipped and accented, and the mention of tea made the Tirones frown and tilt her head to the side.

The invitation to tea caused an uncertain smirk to light her face, though it did nothing to mitigate her wariness. Even though this stranger didn’t seem like a threat with her childish disposition and sunny features, Vesper was aware that she was far outside the pack grounds. She’d learned that danger was not always where one expected it, and so she declined taking a seat even if she did wander over closer at the canine’s beckoning.

“I’ve never had tea before,” the she-yote said, then thought back and corrected herself. “Well, I’ve had a brew for healing and sleep, but not just a nice drink.” Enkiel had made her a drink that had eased her pain and let her float away from her bandaged wounds, but she couldn’t think back to what the tea had tasted like. She could at least say she hadn’t had anything but water for her thirst or pleasure.

The grin broadened under a cute pink nose before the stranger turned to gather some ingredients from the tea, sprinkling them into the teapot where Vesper assumed the water was; she could see steam rising from it. She remained standing but managed to hold a friendly expression as she looked down at the other, who introduced herself as Chione Keisari—a name that Ves wasn’t about to pronounce in full. She guessed that “Chio” would be an acceptable nickname.

“My name’s Vesper,” the tawny woman replied, feeling herself soften up at the other’s giggling. While she was usually bothered by perpetually cheery wolves, this one hadn’t gotten to the point of annoying or stupid yet.

As he neared he could see two figures come into view, both sitting, and he could now smell the distinct scent of cherries in the tea, which caused him to wrinkle his nose in pleasure. It was a wonderful smell, had an immediate warming effect though it was still very cold. He also noted a caballo of some kind grazing nearby and he whistled loudly and slapped Yegua’s rump, sending her running off to join it and also alerted the two to his presence. The first figure was a hybrid female of some kind, elaborately dressed and owned a cart and some nice items, she also had flames darting on her cheeks; a very interesting and becoming style. The other figure, and this just brought a wonderfully sly grin to Helotes’ face, was none other than his symbiote, Vesper.

Helotes strutted over to the two of them, the large grin firmly plastered on his mug, and he took a deep and overly flamboyant bow to the stranger, Good day to you miss, and then he turned to Vesper and did the same, and to you! Then stood again to his full height, looking down at the two, What are you fine ladies up to today?

The prospect of meeting a new lady friend, as far as the Asiatic girl went, was invigorating to him; and the prospect of bothering the shit out of Vesper always brought him joy.

Chione Keisari

ooc text...

"Vesp'r? Vesp'r... A delightf'l name, I say!" Chione spoke, soft and sweet as ever. The other stood for a while as she prepared the tea, but she didn't mind it much. She would seat whenever she wished to. And just as she took out another cup for the hybrid, a scent brushed on her nose just a bit over the delicious cherry perfume. Another hybrid, from the same pack as Vesper, she noticed.

Just about to search for the source of the smell, the emperor wolf heard a loud whistle, eyes and ears focusing on the grayish brown figure that approached. Geez, he was tall. At least on her standarts. The male came closer, greeting both females with a willing bow. Chio bowed prontly, all so used with it. On the ocrner of her eyes, a freckled mare trotted to join Mora on feeding. The mule was wary of the stranger at first, but eventually warmed up to her new friend.

"Good day, sir!" She chirped a wee bit louder than before, raising to her feet in a seift movement, her mood raising to its max. Two new friends in just one evening?! What are the odds! "Just 'aving a nice cup o' cherry tea. W'uld ye want t' join? Ther's always place f'r 'ne more!" The Keisari femme asked, anxiously waiting for the yes she wanted so much to hear.

The short luperci could barely contain herself with excitement. She slightly bit her lower lip to hold it all back before she ended up breaking something. Again.

Making tea so often kind of builds up an inner clock for timing the phases of the process, and it beeped inside her mind, telling her just a few more minutes beofre it was ready. She sat down again, hand offering the silk cushion on her other side, opposite to the one designated for Vesper. "Ple'se sir, ma'am, do sit. Just a littl' bit more, 'nd it's done!" The black and white female announced, kneeling back to her own cushion in a behaved manner, orangeish eyes warm and welcoming.

Chione continued to chirp pleasantly, and Vesper reflected that she would have found this obnoxious any other day. Now, however, she didn’t mind even the overly bubbly company of the childish woman—though she would have been ashamed to be found like this by someone she knew, the horrendously scarred hybrid having teatime with such a silly stranger.

It was when she was thinking this, of course—of bloody course—that the whistle cut shrilly through the peaceful air. Vesper turned her head just as she recognized the dusky frame of the male coming unhurriedly toward them, grinning broadly and smugly. “Oh, that’s great—” the woman started, eyes widening, before Helotes bowed and greeted them cheerfully as you please.

Life. Hated. Her.

“Hello, Helotes,” the tawny woman said sweetly, though it was obvious from her tensed facial muscles and the added hiss at the end of his name that she wanted to kill him right now. He would have his fun bothering her, at least. Flicking an ear, she glanced over at the black and white girl, who greeted him just as pleasantly and invited him to tea as well.

Vesper threw her pack mate a look, and then she did as the loner insisted, settling down on the offered silk cushion and glancing at the teapot. There wasn’t really any point in storming off like a child; this stranger was being hospitable, and she was out this far from Inferni territory, so why not stay?

“What are you doing this far from the clan?” she asked the male conversationally, though she really did want to know the circumstances that were kicking her ass right now. Clearing her throat, she started to add, “Oh, this is—um—Chio—” What was the rest of that strange name? “Where are you from, again?” she asked the oriental female.

Just as expected, Vesper’s face twisted into a sickly sweet smile that her venom nearly spouted out of, however Helotes wondered if the stranger would notice, or if this seething visage could only be seen by his eyes. She greeted him and he continued to grin at her, decided that now would be best a time as any to play the mind games with her that always brought him such joy. When the woman offered him a seat, Yes why thank you, so kind of you, he took it, sitting cross legged and upright with the look of the perfect gentleman.

The woman seemed quite bubbly and excited to see the two them, and Helotes immediately wrote her off as a moronic foreigner with no common sense, but she would be the perfect pawn in his plan to drive Vesper crazy. The tawny coywolf asked him why he was so far from the clan and also introduced the woman as Chio, Ah, Vesper, you know me. I’m just out and about doing my duties for our great clan. He was cackling inside as he spoke these simple and idiotic words. Today Vesper would see just how much of a gentleman he could be.

Vesper then asked the foreigner where she had come from and Helotes turned to look at her. Her outfit was vaguely familiar, similar to one that someone in his old pack had worn and her accent he also recognized, Why, she’s from the Orient of course, I recognize the dress, you have come a long way I suppose. He said this softly, with his handsome purr-like voice. Perhaps this Oriental girl would fall for him, and he could show her what Spanish love was like.

Chione Keisari

ooc text. ..

Chione felt a slight shift on the female hybrid when the male apporached them, but she didn't let it show, though. It made the oriental girl a bit nervous, but since they knew eachother and didn't try to tear eachother's livers out, it was fine for her.

Both the visitors sat down, and the emperor luerci rejoiced in a low but radiant giggle. As she retrieved the teapot, she let talk ofr a second. She slowly poured down the tea, so to only let the minimum of leaves fall along with the solution. As she did, the scent of cheery turned even stronger, making her pinkish nose wrinkle slightly. It felt good, since she was used to it.

Vesper introduced her name in a form of nickname, an action she enjoyed, since close people did that more often than with acquaintances. It made her smile widen up into an open grin. Vesper asked where she was from, but before she could answer, the male replied that she was from the orient. She laughed inwardly with his knowledge; few knew of her culture, though it wasn't all that hard to recognize it from others.

"Why yes, sir, this dress' o' orient'l nature, and so w's me pack. I, howev'r, w's born far north fr'm 'ere, near Alaska. Still, I hold fast t' me traditions. Me pack w's found'd by me ancestors, all the way back t' China." She explained, gesturing lightly with her delicate hand for them to wait a short while before drinking the tea. The too hot liquid would not only probably burn their tongues, but also because if it colded a bit, they would be able to feel the taste much better.

Only then she noticed. "Oh! S'rry sir, but I nev'r got yer name! W's it... Helot's ye said, Vesp'r?" She asked casually, turning to Vesper at the end, eyes clearly curious.

Vesper grimaced as the strong smell of the herbal tea struck her nose; it was not an unpleasant scent, but the odor was heavy and unfamiliar. Her blue eyes turned to Helotes in disbelief as he sat down, playing the part of a gentleman as he expressed gratitude to the strange woman. It was an act, surely, considering how much of an asshole he behaved around her most of the time—but it was slightly scary how well he could change his demeanor.

His response to her question made her tawny-rimmed ears lower before she pressed, “What, a diplomatic mission? Spying? Assassination?” He could simply be wandering around like she was, but she was sure he had some ulterior motive. She didn’t pretend to know or want to know every detail about Inferni’s missions, but as someone who aspired to help keep an eye out for her comrades, it would benefit her to learn as much as she could.

Then the topic turned back to their gracious host, and Vesper tilted her head slightly as he mentioned the Orient. She understood that many wolves came overseas to North America, but they were all the same to her. She’d only find a reason to care if she traveled somewhere foreign or if an acquaintance’s culture was extreme to the point where she had to adapt and comply or die.

Chione confirmed that, while she was from the continent, her ancestors had been oriental like Helotes had assumed. Nodding slightly as if she were interested, Vesper glanced at the tea and closed her fist slowly in her lap, obeying the warning not to touch the hot liquid; she’d most likely wait and let Helotes take a drink before she did, just so she knew how to behave.

When the girl turned to her, asking for confirmation of Helotes’ name, Vesper blinked and managed an “um” before glancing to the male. She had no idea what the etiquette was in situations like this, especially if Chio had some strange expectations that the native non-luperci couldn’t figure out. She instead grabbed the cup of tea and blew on it, tail-tip doing a nervous dance behind her.

Helotes watched, with more interest than he had expected, as Chio poured the tea. It smelled heavenly, and the cups she had were beautiful. Obviously human relics, but so well preserved, he guessed they must have run in her family. This caused him to give her wagon another once over, raising his head to try to peer into its innards; what other trinkets lay inside he wondered. She confirmed his suspicions about her origin, her accent somewhat grating especially in her cutesy high voice and it was everything Helotes could do but to keep from grimacing; he despised those types of voices.

Vesper asked him through her teeth what he had been up to and he just laughed heartily, Oh Vesper, don’t worry about it, it was nothing nefarious. The oriental woman asked him his name again as he daintily picked up the tiny cup in his huge paws, the heat barely penetrating the thickness of his pads. Vesper seemed quite uncomfortable with the situation as she mirrored Helotes’ action, and he grinned. Chione raised a small hand, showing him not to drink, which he heeded but instead let the cherry vapor enter his nostrils, Yes ma’am, Helotes is my name. Vesper and I live in Inferni, a coyote clan to the south of here. Interesting that he was letting this info slip, but he was going full blast with the politeness here.

He hesitated a little more, feeling the tea cooling, and he took a small sip, the cup resting gently between his fingertips. It was very strong, more so than he had expected; it was nothing like the soothing brew Enkiel made. But still, it was an interesting taste and he looked down into the warm liquid, seeing the scraps of tea leave floating near the bottom. He was beginning to really like tea.

Chione Keisari

ooc text. ..

As time passed by, Chione allowed herself a sip of the tea, and made a soft, low humming sound of contempt. She truly enjoyed tea.

The young luperci couldn't help but notice the rather unnerving exchange of words between her two guests, but decided to just block it out for now. And to help it, he mentioned Inferni. A pack? Most interesting... She had felt the scent of multiple packs, so she wasn't that surprised to know one was close by. For what concerned her, there were about one within less of a day travel, but it didn't looked like a coyote pack. She would have to check both that and the guest's packs pretty soon!

She smiled up at them after another warming sip of the sweet tea. "That sounds int'restin'! I might visit yer pack soon. 'm a trader, aft'r all." She said with a wide smile, her shoft chubby palms hugging the tea cup, letting it warm her hands.

"W'll, talkin' 'bout it... I notic'd ye like the tea?" She chirped, turning back to Helotes, him staring at the cup so intently clearly betraying his liking to the drink. And it seemed, it wasn't the first time he had tasted tea.

Helotes laughed at her question and reassured her, and with a slight nod the tawny woman glanced back into the cup in her hand. It surprised her that the male was mentioning the clan to a wolf, but he was evidently the more senior member there, and it was his call what to tell the stranger. It wasn’t as if Inferni was especially secretive; their weaknesses were guarded like any other sensible pack’s, but skulls clearly marked their borders, and the characters who made up the group were often not the subtlest.

When the Oriental wolf made a cheery remark about visiting the clan, Vesper flattened her ears and glanced back over at her comrade. “Uh… It’d probably be best if you held off on that for a while. We’d need to talk to our leader about anyone visiting, after all.” Not that she would have any intention of bothering Ezekiel with something like this. Chio would realistically not be permitted close to the fire clan; she might even be injured when driven off, or killed, depending on the tolerance of whatever member happened to wander across the cheery girl. Hers was a somewhat trying personality. Hopefully, though, Chione would nod along then forget about it when the two coyotes never got back to her on the subject.

Vesper blew on the tea again, noting her companion taking his first sip and apparently liking what he tasted. Curious, she held her own cup up to her muzzle and took a few small laps, her nose immediately wrinkling at the strength of the brew. Feral, she was not used to tasting anything other than water and meat and the occasional berry; this cherry tea was absolutely strange. Guessing that any more would make her sick, she put it down as subtly as she could, hoping that Chione wouldn’t break down if she thought her guest didn’t like the tea.

I am now taking Helotes out of this thread. Thanks for the awesomeness! <3 / +261

Helotes sipped his tea quietly as the two women chatted. Vesper did have a good point that it would be best to inform Ezekiel of the arrival of a merchant, especially one of her heritage. But the items in her cart intrigued the Lykoi and he would make sure to ask for her safe passage; there might be things in there that he might want to trade for. This made Helotes go to thinking about what he had to actually trade, he didn’t own much and only claimed an old tea set, lamp and blankets as his sole possessions. With a sigh he placed his now empty cup down in front of him.

Thank you for the tea, ma’am, it was divine. He went to stand, suddenly growing tired of his little polite charade. He glanced over and noticed that Yegua and the mule had parted ways and now were grazing a distance away from each other. Helotes whistled and his mare looked up at him, debating whether to come to him or not, but eventually meandered over. Once there he grabbed her reigns, Pardon my sudden exit, but I must return to Inferni, I have been gone a couple days already and cannot delay my duties any longer. He lifted himself up on her back and turned her, Please, do come visit Inferni though, we would be glad to see you wares. He gave Chio a handsome smile before grinning at Vesper, See you back in the pack lands, Vesper! And with that he clicked his tongue and galloped off.
