ooc: Light is in lupus form and so sorry for the wait.

Light was taking advantage of the cold day the sky was dark from the thick cover of silver. They seemed almost ready to burst with snowfall and blanket the land with white. Today the prey would be herded he would get to pick from the group and make for an easy kill. He had wondered if he should have asked another to accompany him but he figured he might as well scope out the herd before he decided to do that. They were in sight his mind already calculating the odds of each deer he laid his eyes upon. Finally he deduced it down between a short legged doe and a sickly stag. He nodded and started to head back to his pack land. His four legged form was rather elegant his head held high as he seemed to trot toward the South, he had no doubt in his mind that he would eat today.

His silver and white fur bounced with each step from behind he might look like a cheerful wolf but from his face he seemed rough almost deadly. His brow almost at a constant furrow, eyes ever watchful and focused, nothing could ever get by him was his mindset, the scars were the most intimidating feature about him. His body and face were adorned with them, mostly from bears and an occasional loner that dared breech the borders of his homeland. He was glad that part was past him, he had never approved of such hate. He had fallen in love with these lands from the many different breeds, cultures and creatures but he would never admit to that.

His ear twitched at a sound, he let out a warning bark letting whatever creature nearby would hear. He didn’t like sneaky creatures he would rather face anything head on if they dared to face him. He hoped it was nothing, maybe a squirrel dropping a nut taking advantage of the final days before snow. His ears listened carefully as his breathing seemed to grow silent, only the hints of white puffs gave away his vigilant nostrils seeking out the scent of another creature.

I apologize for taking so long. I think this thread is going to be fun. Big Grin

The dark hybrid watched the deer roam across the frosty earth, noticing with pleasure how their sweet eyes watered and strained as they nosed the silvered litter of foliage and fallen leaves. Autumn was one of the best seasons for hunting, another reason she favored it above the others. Prey such as these stupid animals were weakening from the cold and hunger that, with each passing week, sapped the strength of their bodies and their minds.

Dusk sat on her haunches, her slim forelegs stretched out slightly so that she could remain hidden in the shadows. Her pumpkin eyes glittered with the mirth that recently tendered her heart only when she was either actively hunting or planning to do so. She trembled like a carefree child as she examined each of the herd, seeking the creature that would be easiest to kill. Two of the animals eventually took her interest. One was a buck that was languid with sickness, the other a doe that had the comical deformity of stubby limbs. A wicked smile crept across her narrow muzzle.

She would have waited and tracked all day if she had to. But perhaps she would not. Her eyes broke free of the deer to venture where they had many times since she had been here, and she was delighted to see that the silvery figure in the distance had not yet moved from his own post. Silently, she rose to her feet and slipped through the trees toward him. Just as she was drawing near, he turned away from the herd and went in the opposite direction. Puzzled though she was by this, Dusk was unwilling to give up the opportunity for an easier, more thrilling hunt, and she continued to pursue him.

She was almost close enough to startle him, and, innately aware that her kind was not one to startle, she paused and peered after the stranger with his stunning moonlight fur. Her rough bark cracked the silence and ended in a low, rolling growl. Pricked ears captured the yelp he returned. His voice held a note of warning, so Dusk did not move. Instead, she waited for him, her bushy tail twitching.

The breeze finally carried the scent of a female to him and he quickly turned to face her. He stone expression looked her over giving nothing away as he took in her posture and size. She was a hunter he was sure of it this put his mind at a slight ease. It wasn’t a surprise to him that another would be gracing these lands where the herds were gathering with such a beauty. It would draw any hunter skilled or not but the fact that this female gave him the thought of being one showed she must have skill. He took steps toward her his body never faltering from its grace even as his head rose up and tail showed his dominance. Good day friend. He said in a deep voice. He often spoke with a slight friendliness toward females saving his stern monotonous voice for males.

It’s not that he thought less of them; no not at all he rather envied the female form in its grace and versatility. Therefore he held a great respect for all females. He stopped a few paw lengths from the female and set his steely brown gaze upon hers as he spoke further. Name’s Light, Light Goldenfeather. You wouldn’t happen to be a hunter perchance? As much as he wanted to include his pack in such a bounty he wanted nothing more but to venture forth into the hunt as not to lose the precious prey he had selected. If they had stampeded while he was gone it would have proved to be a much more tenuous task to find the group once more. He awaited the female’s response taking in her scent as he lowered his head only slightly. It was always necessary to familiarize with your partner’s scent for a lot of the time a hunter would need to rely on it among the chaos.
