creepers be creeping

Zana had decided that four legs were probably better than two on a day like this. She was wandering dangerously close to lands that she had been cautioned about and she hoped that though she would be venerable she would be safer with the speed and agility that came with a smaller form. She could only hope that no one found her but she doubted that would be her luck. Instead she pressed on.

The small hybrid could not however tell Saol to stay behind. She was not his owner, merely a convenient inconvenience that he didn't mind having. She loved the stallion but she didn't know what in the world he thought he could do that he was playing tag along today. She had been lucky that the stallion was slowly picking his way along behind her, not nearly stomping along on her tail. The horse had stayed nearly thirty yards off her trail at all times but just close enough so that if she needed him she could find him or him here. She wanted to believe the crazy animal was just stupidly bored right now.

Sighing softly she scurried closer to their borders, surprised that she had not seen a single guard yet. The small woman crawled under a shrub and waited silently.

The truth was, there was a reason that the girl had not been accosted yet. Salvia had been watching her for several long moments. There was a noisy horse nearby, and a child. That had surprised her. A child had come here and Salvia was worried that a parent had followed. As the girl crept about, a reddish streak that stood out due to both her own pelt and the ridiculous purple bow on her tail, Salvia finally reasoned that the child had come here by herself and was likely looking for trouble. Salvia’s training had kept her silent. She managed to follow at a distance, wary and still, her pelt darkening and similar in tone to the underbrush as winter advanced.

With a growl, she advanced from the underbrush. Her lupus form was massive compared to the coyote pup, and Salvia’s bristling fur heightened along her spine. A black tipped tail rose high, a warning flag, and she cut the girl off between the borders. “What do you think you’re doing, girl?” The deep voice rumbled forth, something as vicious as her father’s. Salsola would have no trespassers, let alone some foolhardy child.

Zana knew she couldn't go undetected for long. It seemed that the end of her exploring had ended quite quickly before it had even begun. She should have known that growing overly confident in her ways was not a good idea but as she was now being cut off from exiting the borders now she knew that she'd screwed up royally. The small woman tilted her head upward as the woman who reeked of Salsola confronted her. Zana turned her bright lilac eyes up to the creature who had busted her and realized a second thing. She was in big trouble.

The tiny woman swallowed the lump in her throat as she let her eyes go wide. Her mind was still calculated and calm even though she knew that she had just placed herself in a dangerous situation. Why hadn't she listened to Ezekiel's cautious words, she could have gone scampering about the southern packs instead of these lands she knew were trouble. She whined softly and answered. "Family? I have family here.." Maybe she could get out of this playing dumb. She knew Clover was from these lands and there were others. The woman didn't seem dull witted but she could get lucky.

Sharp and terrible eyes narrowed as the girl showed her fear. Salvia was a creature of instinct; if the girl had fled, rather that remained still, she would have chased. She would have ripped her apart like a rabbit. A sniff told her this girl was from Inferni, and that was all it took for her muzzle to wrinkle into a toothy snarl. Family?” She sneered, whiskers twitching. “Does your family usually see you like this? Crawling on your belly and slinking around their home?”

Flipping her tail like a cat, Salvia shook her head. “Don’t you have a mother somewhere? You should go see her.” Her one ear flicked dismissively, though her eyes turned back to the child without any further command. The snarl had faded from her face, returning it to a placid mask. There was something odd about this whole situation. When Salvia had been a child, she hadn’t been allowed more than ten feet from an adult, especially after Wretch’s disappearance. Maybe the girl was without family…though that wouldn’t explain the horse, whose masculine scent floated by as if to remind her of the stallion’s presence.

Zana could already tell she was in trouble. She seemed to have run into the one creature of the lands with the shortest temper, though if she was wrong and Clover was an exception to how the pack behaved she had really underestimated the secretive pack. Maybe there were many reasons why no one knew much about the pack, even though it made her more determined to find out the truth behind why everything about them was shroud in such mystery. She swallowed hard as she answered, "No...but I have never visited them near their own lands.. her throat dry suddenly. She hoped she wasn't stepping too far.

At the mention of Zanas mother though the fur along her heckles rose, her ears flattened and her fangs glittered slightly as anger tightened her chest. Mother was a monster...why would she care about me..." she hadnt meant to lose her temper but mother was a figure best left in the past, where the past belonged.

It was clear that the girl was worried. Salvia imagined she was lying about her family, but why on earth would she lie? It was just like Wretch, she thought suddenly, and a deep rumble began in her chest. Despite the fact that this was a child, this was an error that could not be forgiven. Liars received no pity. Outsiders received no mercy. Every muscle responded to her subconscious signals, tightening along her bones and filling with a strange electricity.

Onward went the girl, provoked at the mention of this so-called monster of a mother. The corner of Salvia’s lips pulled back into a savage smile. She was hardly capable of empathy; her parents were here, together, and they had loved her fully. The time for that was gone now, of course, but how could she even care?

“Oh what a shame,” She mocked, smiling. “Though I can see why. Who on earth would want an ugly little scarred thing like you for a daughter.” A rumbling laugh erupted from her throat, shaking her pale fur and the arrow-head that rested upon her chest. “Get out of here, kid.”

Zana snarled at the taunting words of the larger woman. Her eyes narrowed as she spat out, "mother is the reason I'm this way bitch." she hissed. Her temper was a horrible thing, she hated losing it but today she didn't care anymore. She was already in trouble and even though she knew turning and running was the smartest thing to do right now she had already lost it.

Her lilac eyes narrowed as she snapped. "I'm not a child you idiot, stop treating me like one!" the words were out of her maw before she could even stop them. Her heart raced as she realized she had just given away her little secret. The small woman took a step back, though she still held her ground for the moment.

Could you let me know what sort of wounds you want? Both for this and the Enkiel thread. ^^;

Though she was able to dish out such insults, Salvia bristled at the term thrown at her. It brought an obvious change in her appearance; black tipped ears rose to a high point, lips pulled back, and all along her spine the fur rose in a terrible rush. Who did this little girl think she was dealing with? The shout only sought to fuel the fire; it was the physical retreat that poured gasoline all over her, setting the tiger ablaze.

She laughed, a terrible barking thing that pulled her lips back further. Salvia took a single stiff-legged step forward. “You’re telling me you’re fully grown?” She hissed, whiskers curling towards her snout. Unbelievable—her laughter rumbled out, an undercurrent of deep growls rising with it. “You’re a freak then, and a rude little one at that. I think I’ll feed you to my cat,” she laughed, and then the laughter ended. The warning had been given.

A snarl erupted from her, for Salvia was not the type who struck silently in the face of an enemy. She hurled herself forward, reaching for the back of the little thing’s neck. She did not intend to snap it yet; she would shake her like a ragdoll and fully enjoy this game. She wanted the bitch to suffer for her insult.

She growled, a slight smile spread across her lips as she watched the insult take effect. She was delighted that she had at least got in a good jab on the woman, even if it had only just infurated the woman even more. Her lilac orbs stayed placed on the Salsola pack member as she turned her anger to Zana. She hissed slightly at the insults but she was use to it by now. They were petty and pathedic in comparison to what the woman could have done.

She just laughed again but it was cut short as the strange woman lunged St her. She snarled and twisted away from the bitch. She was merely one second too late though as she felt the woman's fangs graze her thigh and rump. She twisted around quickly, snapping at the woman's face with needle like teeth as her eyes flashed with fury.

Powerplay previously approved. I figured the horse could come in now?

It was like being struck by a child. Those teeth were full-grown, though, and not as piercing as those of her sisters. Salvia felt them cut her face, felt the blood flow, and as before a fury she did not know how to control bellowed from her chest. Feeling heat burn across her maw, Salvia opened her mouth wide and brought her teeth down hard. There was contact. She increased the pressure and gripped the girl, teeth clasped over one shoulder and under her ribs.

Salvia, bleeding, shook her head furiously. Her legs gripped at the earth and refused to budge. Even if this stupid brat thought she could stand up to her, there was no way she would survive long like this. The fact she had grabbed her by the shoulders had likely saved her life—Salvia’s fury would have broken her neck in a single shake otherwise. Green eyes burned furiously as she held taunt, intending to drive her teeth as deep as possible into the tiny frame.

She had the taste of the woman's blood on her tongue and it made her heart race. Her mind was slow to warn her of the situation she had placed herself in, a moment to late she felt the deep bite of the strangers jaws around her should and ribs as her sharp piercing yap drove through the air. She kicked out with her hindlegs to no avail as she lashed and snapped, her fangs seeking any mark they could make as the pressure squeezed at her body, cutting off her air supply as she was whipped to and fro.

The tiny woman had long forgotten that the coal hued station had accompanied her on the trip, her eyes forced closed as spots had begun to dance before her vision. She had almost lost consciousness when the thundering of hooves and the the sharp challenging neigh of Saol broke through. There was little she could see but the heavy stamping of hooves so close told her all she needed to know.

The dark hued mustang had heard the alarming cry of his tiny partner and had come galloping through the bushes to investigate for himself. What he found had not been what he had inspected and with a shrill whine he demanded the large beast drop his friend. Barreling into their space he reared back on his hindlegs and stuck out with his sharphooves. He knew he risked striking the small creature who was his companion but it was a risk he had to take.

Around her neck the arrowhead clattered and swung. Salvia’s destiny was to be a hunter. She had been born with the twilight woman as her guide and now she had an earthly being who guided her yet. Killing a woman like this would be no different than killing a rabbit or a fox. Salvia felt no empathy for those below her. It was a concept brought on by her upbringing, and reinforced by Salsola’s lifestyle. What did it matter, if she killed some coyote bitch? It didn’t. No one would care.

Unfortunately, she had forgotten to factor in the equation that the horse was not some docile beast. She had never imagined it would come charging at her as if it cared for this tiny thing. Why would she? Horses were not friends, but tools. So startled by the braying was she that Salvia’s jaw went slack. The tiny thing in her mouth tumbled to the ground as she darted sharply away, avoiding a kick from the stallion’s hoof. Ears flattened against her head as Salvia snarled, proclaiming her anger. The horse responded with another whinny and charged her.

With a start, Salvia bolted into the copse behind her. She was smaller than the horse, and knew the landscape well. Within minutes, she had outrun him and retreated to the safety of her home.
