Kiara needed a break. Her tail and ears had become Sarian's favorite chew toys, despite the fact that she had a perfectly good chew toy that was bright and colorful. Shiloh had appeared one day with a new cloak and a braided chew toy for Sarian. The colored rope had kept Sarian occupied for a day or two before the puppy returned her attention to Kiara with a renewed vigor. Kiara's once beautiful ears were now ragged and had some small scabs on the back. Although the injuries would not scar, they still marred her beautiful coat. The arctic wolf didn't evan want to think about the damages to the tail she was so proud of. Unlike most wolves, Kiara was not a luperci so she did not style her main or wear clothes. However, she did take exceptional care of her tail was often proud of how fluffy and soft it was. Now, her tail was ragged and worn. There were even places where the fur had been completely removed.

Sarain was not a malicious character, but she had way too much energy. So, off Kiara went in search of a new toy. Kiara had decided to make the toy a surprise for Sarain. The young wolf felt that if the toy was unexpected, then Sarain might play with it for more than two days. It was for this reason that Kiara was wandering around New Glagsow. The city was not far from Trenton, so if Shiloh called then Kiara would not only hear it, but she could return right away. However, New Glagsow was far enough away so that there was not chance of running into Sarian and Shiloh. The puppy was not old enough to venture this far away from the apartments, leaving Kiara free to search for something to entertain Sarian. The she wolf was not very familiar with the stories about humans, but she did know they made many things. Kiara had heard that things could be found in their crumbling cities so perhaps she could find something Sarian might like.

It had started to snow earlier that day and the ground was already covered in a fine layer of snow. With each step, Kiara exposed the ground beneath her and left a trail for the eyes to follow. Kiara's brilliant white coat made her seem like a specter as she plodded through the streets. A partially broken window distorted the snow wolfs reflection, causing Kiara to pause for a moment and stare. If it weren't for the dangers that glass presented, Kiara was sure that the reflective material would keep Sarian occupied for a long time. Sadly, the glass would harm the puppy so Kiara was forced to continue her search. Truth be told, Kiara wasn't entirely sure what she was looking for, but it had to be all in once piece because she could not craft anything. With a small sigh, Kiara continued down the snow covered streets and wondered if she was just wasting her time.

Neela is in Lupus form. Also age comparison Neela is 4 years old.

Well, this day was certainly turning out to be interesting.

After meeting Jace and her daughter Neela had continued to head northwards, finding herself extremely surprised to come across another human settlement within the pack territories. This settlement was larger, with less houses and more of the odd buildings that humans seemed to love storing their belongings in.

Why humans would have so many of the same object, and store those objects in one place with such large windows was beyond Neela's knowledge, though from the tales they made for good places to scavenge so Neela made a mental note to pursue that option later.

For now there was a more pressing matter at hand. Snow" Shortly after Neela had entered the human settlement it had begun snowing. Neela loved snow, her thick fur meant that she as able to stay outside without getting overly cold and she thought that the glittery white powder was one of the more beautiful things that she saw in nature. Being the sensible adult dog that she was, Neela immediately began running about like a puppy on sugar and giggling, her common sense torn away by the pure force of her joy at seeing it snow.

Half an hour later found her bounding down the street, shifted to lupus form for the extra fur length and warmth, her belt and guitar left abandoned in a random building with a strong scent marker to warn off any wandering canine. Despite the dusting of white across her fur Neela did not feel particularly cold; what little shill did seep through her fur was quickly countered by the energy of her movements.

Grynn did not share Neela's love of the snow and was refusing to fly at all as the snowfall began to get heavier, but the falcon also didn’t want to leave Neela alone in unfamiliar territory. The result was one angry falcon clinging to the fur at the base of Neela's neck, letting out an indignant noise whenever Neela went too fast., something which was happening quite often as the excited wolfdog bounded through the streets.

Suddenly as Neela rounded a corner a mischievous grin appeared on her face. She stopped moving just long enough to flash said grin towards Grynn before she began chasing her tail as fast as she could, letting out a bark of laughter at Grynn's indignant screeches. Neela kept this up for a minute before stopping, tired out and dizzy.

It was at this point that Neela froze in her tracks and realised that the street she was occupying wasn't empty, but in fact was populated by a white wolf. Neela hadn’t sent he wolf as she first arrived on the street because of her fur.

Neela shuffled her feet, embarrassed at being caught acting so childishly, especially by a wolf that looked to be less than half her age. "Umm, Hi there. Didn't realise anybody was around, I'm Neela." Neela could feel and hear Grynn shifting on her back as she let out a squawk, the low speech equivalent of a combined snicker and "Serves you right". Neela tried to ignore the bird as she stared awkwardly at the stranger, wondering if she would save more face by conversation, or just by getting the hell out of there.

Kiara's train of thought was broken by the sound of another canine. The soft crunch of rushing paws over snow was unmistakable, and it quickly drew the arctic wolf's attention away from her task. Not twenty paces away, there was a dog who seemed to be engrossed in chasing her own tail. Kiara sat down and watched as the red stranger twirled round and round in a circle. The familiar sight rather amused the young wolf. She was not even two years old, and could sometimes be seen chasing her own tail. Although, it was more likely for people to see Kiara chasing someone else's tail.

The only thing to mar such a funny sight was the presence of a falcon. Kiara did not like birds, and she was just itching to chase the creature halfway across the city. It's high pitched screeches racked the snow wolf's ears and she glared at the bird. Kiara had only two opinions when it came to birds: they were annoying, and fun to chase.

It wasn't long before the collie had settled down and noticed Kiara. The arctic wolf cocked her head to the side inquisitively as the stranger stumbled through her introduction. The hybrid seemed to be a lot older than Kiara so she wondered if her next action would be appropriate. Still, the she wolf had made up her mind. Kiara stood up and raced forward. Kiara raced forward aiming to just barely collide with Neela before running off. As she ran away Kiara shouted,"The name's Kiara, and tag your it."

Kiara didn't run too far before whipping around and throwing a flurry of snow in the air. Kiara bent down on her fore paws and raised her tail high in the air. Her mission forgotten as play time rolled around.

Neela felt rather apprehensive as she looked at the wolf, who wasn't responding to her greeting and instead was just staring at her. Just when she was about to try talking again the wolf darted forward, causing Neela to fall onto her haunches as she tried to scoot backwards but slipped in the snow.

Grynn's reaction was extremely loud and aggressive, though thankfully loud was all it progressed to, with the bird screeching angrily at what she saw as an attack but staying firmly entrenched on Neela's back.

Neela however had, after a few seconds of staring blankly at the retreating wolf, processed the wolfs words. Part of her idly wondered ad Grynn's behaviour as the bird could well understand high speech, but guessed that the falcon had just randomly taken a disliking to the wolf, which wasn't particularly unusual for the temperamental falcon.

Neela's mind was taken up by more important thoughts, her embarrassment driven away by excitement, so this wolf thought that she could outrun Neela eh? With a barking laugh Neela tore after Kiara, darting in to about a foot away from the other wolf before darting backwards and dropping into a play bow similar to Kiara's own, a playful growl escaping her lips.

After several false starts Neela leapt forward, landing to the left of Kiara and slightly behind her. With a dancers grace Neela quickly spun around on the spot, nipped the younger canine lightly on the ear and leapt away again, giving herself a few metres clearance before she spun around and dropped back down into a crouch, letting out a loud, happy bark like only a dog could.

"Got ya!"

The snow had put Neela in a happy and playful mood to begin with, and with both of the wolves acting similarly childish it was hard to feel embarrassed. Neela started jittering from side to side as she waited for Kiara to move, her tail wagging furiously, sending small sprays of snow flying as it did so. Her amber eyes were fixed on the white wolf in an intense, but not unfriendly, stare.

The bird's screeching bothered Kaira even more than before. So she gave the Neela's avian companion a toothy grin, as if too say 'Don't you like my sharp, point teeth?' It seems as if the bird disliked the alabaster wolf, as much as Kiara disliked the bird. Perhaps the local crows had warned Needla's companion of Kiara's bird chasing tendencies.

It took a few second for the collie to realized that Kiara had challenged her to friendly game of tag. Once the idea was processed, the game proceeded. Needla was far older and more graceful than Kiara, and it showed in the way she played. Kiara tried to keep Neela in front of her, and had attempted several times to feint the collie. Before she knew what happened, flash of red fur darted behind Kiara and nipped the arctic wolf firmly on the ears. Before the alabaster wolf could even retaliate, Neela managed to dance away from Kiara's waiting jaws.

Once again, the pair squared off. Both had taken to playful crouches and challenging growls issued from the two canines. When Neela erupted into happy barking it threw Kiara for a loop. Dogs, much like luperci, where creatures that the arctic wolf had very little knowledge on. In the deep recesses of the Canadian North, Kiara had been practically isolated from the rest of the world. Kiara lifted her head slightly and tilted as was her habit when she was confused. Although the white wolf tried to imitate Neela's barks, she was unable to.

Kiara gave up on her attempts to bark like a dog and returned to her playful crouch. Her tail was high and her growls were low and deep. Kiara watched with a hunter's patience as Neela bounced back and forth waiting for an opportunity to strike. When Kiara thought she saw an opening, the young wolf lunged forward. Just as the arctic wolf reached Neela, she jumped into the air and contorted her snowy body. Kiara was trying to get on top of the collie to pin her down and chew on her ears. Or at least bat at Neela's face. If she could just touch Neela, than Kiara would run off in order to ovoid being tagged back. After all, tag was a game of chase.

Neela's breath condensed in-front of her in billowing clouds as she panted, her eyes fixed on Kiara, watching the other wolf for any movement as the two squared off. The ivory coloured wolf wasn't moving much, seemingly content to watch Neela for any signs of weakness. Just as Neela was about to make a move herself something caught her attention from the corner of her eye, a flash of colour on a nearby lamppost.

Grynn hadn't escaped entirely unscathed from the playful scuffle, the bird having been caught by a blow or two which had ruffled her feathers. Not amused at all the falcon had retreated to the lamppost to smooth out her feathers and quietly glare at the juvenile canines. The sight of Grynn's regal glare combined with her feathers, which were sticking up in all directions, was amusing enough to distract Neela's attention.

She paid for it. As her gaze caught on the flustered bird Neela heard the sound of Kiara moving and instantly spun around, rearing up on her hind legs to try and put herself above the approaching wolf. Unfortunately Neela paid the price for moving without looking; rather than coming in low as Neela had expected Kiara instead launched herself in the air, leaving Neela a split second to comprehend the rapidly approaching blur of white fur and let out a small whimper before the two collided and were sent sprawling to the snowy ground.

As the two fell in a jumble of limbs Neela felt Kiara's weight settle on her back, and a prickle on her ears as the slightly larger canine began gnawing on them. Growling with amusement and embarrassment Neela dropped to her belly, thrashing about and trying to roll over onto her back to dislodge Kiara. Not one built for strength Neela had little chance to win in a wrestling match, but she was sure as hell going to give it a go.

As fate may have it, both Kiara and Neela were approximately the same size; although Kiara had the upper hand in terms of weight. Like most her breed, Kiara was short and stocky. The large muscles in her back and neck made the arctic wolf look almost like a secui. Her sheer weight gave Kiara the advantage of Neela as the two canines wrestled in the snow. Kiara could feel the collie's body pitch as Neela tried to throw the snow wolf off. Kiara's hind legs danced a little in response, but she held her grip on the red ears for a minute longer.

Neela's final attempt to shake the alabaster woman succeeded. Kiara's grip loosened on her ears and she was thrown into the snow. Kiara scrambled to get up, running into the nearest building for cover. The door was broken and had partially obscured the entrance. Kiara was able to squeeze through the opening, but she could feel the wood scrape across her back. The broken door might have injured Kiara if it weren't for her thick winter coat. The building Kiara had entered was an old furniture store. There were ruined pieces on display, entire living rooms and kitchen set out for humans to view. Directly in front of the door was a beautiful counter that housed an old cash register and computer. On the floor was a chandelier that had fallen, it's ornamental prisms spread over the floor.

Kiara looked around quickly, trying to find a place to hide. Off in the back corner of the room was a kitchen display that hosted an island. The snow wolf scampered to the other side of the island and waited for Neela to enter. Although the building was stable, it showed signs of aging. The floors creaked as Kiara ran and in many places the wood had warped to form peaks and valleys. The stench of mold engulfed the entire building and drowned out Kiara's sense of smell. The smell was powerful, but not horrendous.

No more than a minute had passed since Kiara entered the old shop, but it was enough time for her mind to wander from the game. The Ikusei's thoughts turned back to Sarian and her original purpose for coming to the city. She was supposed to be looking for something that Sarian could play with. Perhaps one of the faded pillows might still be worth something. Once this game of tag was over, Kiara would have to check them out.

As soon as Neela felt Kiara's weight lift from her back she spun around, dogging the white wolf's heels as she sprinted away towards the shelter. Her chase was foiled when she tried to follow Kiara through the door, some of her fur snagged on the jagged edge and the sudden force caused her to fall flat on her face. By the time Neela had picked herself up and navigated through the tight gap Kiara had vanished from sight, her scent hidden my the overpowering stench of mold.

Padding cautiously into the room Neela began to scan her head around, keeping her ears perked, well as perked as she could get her floppy ears, for any sounds that might indicate where Kirar was hiding. Noticing a counter nearby Neela padded over stealthily, keeping in a hunting crouch until she sprung up onto the counter to confront Kiara.

Only Kiara wasn't there, leaving Neela stood awkwardly on the counter. Suddenly something caught her eye, a tuft of white fur sticking out from a display of some kind. The fur, likely Kiara's ear, hadn’t been visible from the ground. Slowly Neela started to zigzag across the room, making it sound like she was still searching before, suddenly, she darted towards the display.

"Gotchya!" Neela called out as she jumped over the display, ready to give chase and hoping, for the sake of her dignity, that Kiara was actually behind this one.

The collie-hybrid wasn't far behind Kiara. Only moments after she had skirted behind the display, did Neela's bright red form enter the room. Sapphire eyes peered out tentatively from behind the island and she watched as Neela flew on top of the counter. The young female couldn't help but smile at the collie's feeble attempts to find her. Kiara knew better than to go for the first hiding spot one found. Such was the strategy in tag. The snow wolf took a few quick steps back, trying to hide herself from Neela. Little did she know that Neela could see the tops of here ears. Kiara flicked her ears a little, trying to pinpoint Neela's location from the safety of her hiding spot.

The sudden rush of footsteps and Neela's cry made Kiara practically jump out of her fur. Kiara gave a quick bark and a small growl. There was no way she was going to give up just because Neela had found her. Kiara wheeled around the counter and ran as fast as her nimble body could go. Kiara bounded for the safety of another display, but promptly tripped over one of the protruding boards and landed flat on her snout. The impact made Kiara yelp. Her sprawling body lay on the ground, the sudden change in trajectory and impact had stunned the snow wolf. She blinked a few times as her nose pulsed, the dull pain persistent and rather obnoxious. But other than a bruised nose, Kiara was fine.

Neela huffed in amusement as Kiara tripped over the protruding wood, the white wolf coming to rest on the ground. Tail wagging Neela made her way over to Kiara, peering at the wolf to check that she hadn't hurt herself badly.

"You alright?" Neela questioned as she reached Kiara, giving the dazed wolf a quick lick on her nose as she checked over. Seeing nothing worrying she gave Kirar a mischievous grin before turning her tail and fleeing, wondering how long it would take the younger female to realise that she head been tagged.

Feet pounding on the wooden floor Neela skidded through a doorway at the back of the shop, leading out into a narrow corridor. To her left lay the rotten, splintered remains of the door so she veered sharply to the right, lightly skimming the wall as she did so. Just ahead of her she could see a metal door hanging loosely half open. As she ran towards it Neela began to shift into Secui, focusing on converting her upper body first. She didn’t manage to complete the shift in how much time she had but she gained enough weight to ram the door open before she reverted, slipping back down into full Lupus.

The room beyond, which seemed to be some sort of storehouse, was full of boxes and shelves as well as a heavy coating of dust. A quick scan of the large room revealed that other than a pair of large, securely barred, metal doors on the far side the room was completely secure. With tools and about half an hour Neela could have probably gotten the door open, but that wasn't particularly helpful for a game of tag.

Deciding to hide and observe, Neela dashed towards a large stack of cardboard boxes which had been stacked into a rough pyramid. Unfortunately she misjudged the strength of the cardboard and as she started to climb the pyramid the rotten material disintegrated beneath her feet, sending her crashing down into the boxes contents, some old dog toys, with a loud squeak.

Neela cursed at the loud noise, but soon had other things to worry about as the misbalanced and disintegrating pyramid tilted dangerously towards her before falling town onto her head. Fortunately the pyramid hadn’t contained anything heavy, else it would have collapsed long ago, so Neela was merely stunned as she lay beneath the pile of cardboard.

It took a few moments for Kiara to realize what had happened. At first, Neela's intentions seemed innocent enough and the game had all but vanished from her mind. A simple encouraging lick never had a devious connotation before, yet Neela managed to turn her concern into a weapon for tag. Kiara tilted her head in confusion; watching the collie's fleeing figure. Then it came to her. The snow wolf scrambled to her feet, trying in vain to overcome the ground she had lost.

Red fir dashed through the open door, her tail disappearing into the corridor. Kiara followed as fast as her paws could carry her, stumbling as she almost tripped again. The hall was poorly lit as there were no windows for the daylight to stream through. The overpowering smell of mold was stronger here than any where else. The smell made her nose itch and her eyes water. Still, Kiara ran. She managed to gain a little ground, but not enough to make a difference. Kiara skirted the edges of the doorway, trying her best not to slam into the wall. At the end of the room was Neela crashing through the metal door. The alabaster woman slid to halt and flinched as the sound of breaking metal filled the air.

Neela too, had paused. Her head swiveled back and for as if looking for something. Kiara flattened her ears and a mischievous smile spread across her face. Quick as a rabbit Kiara sped after the collie hoping to catch her off guard. Almost in unison, the two canines sprang forward. The snow wolf entered the room only to watch as both Neela and the boxes beneath her fell to the earth. The crash that followed was not as loud as the crash from the metal door, but it was perhaps even more jarring. Even so, the scene continued to unfold as yet more boxes gave way, falling on top of the collie hybrid. "Neela!"

Again, Kiara shot forward like a dart; her fur a white blur to any onlookers. "Neela are you okay?" Kiara called as she pushed a box off of the collie. Quickly she worked, pushing the boxes off and away. Once the collie was free the arctic began to search for any injuries. Kiara knew nothing about medicine, but that never stopped her from trying. Thankfully, Neela didn't seem to be hurt. Kiara let loose a long sigh as she sat down. But a sudden squeak made her jump and wheel around. A small dog toy lay in the spot that Kiara had just been occupying. The toy looked like three red balls had been jammed together, each on progressively smaller than the last. The red color had faded a little, but the boxes had protected it from any more damage that might have been caused by the unforgiving elements. It was a hard toy but still had some give, making it squeak when it was chewed (or sat on).

It was perfect. The toy was not only brightly colored and durable, but it also made noises. This would keep Sarian off of Kiara's tail for some time. Hopefully it would giver her enough time for her tail to recuperate. Kiara picked up the toy, as giggled a little as it squeaked in her jaws. She turned to Neela with a great, big, puppy like grin on her face.

Neela pulled herself out of the cardboard boxes on wobbly legs, more bemused by what had just happened than injured. This thought was quickly revised at the sight before her, namely Kiara sitting in-front of her with a squeaky dog toy in her mouth, grinning and giggling like a small puppy. Neela tilted her head to the side and took a few seconds to process the sight, not entirely sure that she hadn’t suffered some sort of concussion, or just plain knocked herself out, in the cardboard avalanche.

When it became apparent that No, Neela had not injured her head and Yes, Kiara was holding a squeaky toy the collie gave an amused huff before trotting forward, shaking herself vigorously to try and clear off the piece of rotten cardboard now sticking to her fur. "Well, you're a wee bit old for stuff like that but don’t worry! I'm not judging you." Neela's tone was friendly as she teased the other wolf, craning her head round to inspect her back before she started nosing around the boxes, seeing what goodies had been kept inside the old warehouse.

Disappointingly the contents of the boxes was mostly dog-toys and clothes; neither of which Neela had any pressing need for and Neela quickly gave up the search, not particularly needing anything that he was likely to find in here at the moment. Trotting over to Kiara, Neela plopped herself down by the white wolf, tail thumping into the floor as it wagged, "That was fun." She remarked happily before letting out a large yawn. While a lot of fun and a good way to enjoy her snow-induced good mood the impromptu game of tag had tired Neela out; heavy travelling generally left a relatively small amount of energy spare for such things.

Finally closing her mouth Neela peered over at Kiara, "So what shall we do now? Bet there's some interesting stuff stashed in here"

Despite her teasing tone, Neela's comment was a little abrasive. However, Kiara waved it off with a shrug. She put the toy down momentarily to explain. "It's not for me. It's for a puppy I am watching. The puppy likes to chew my tail, hopefully this will replace my tail as her chew toy." Kiara picked the toy back up and laughed again as it squeaked in her jaws. The toy was amusing, she had to admit. Kiara was practically a giant puppy anyways.

The snow wolf watched with amusement as Neela circled the boxes and inspecting their contents. Human items never really appealed to Kiara. They were strange and sometimes fairly inconvenient for her. Houses in particular provided a rather annoying challenge. Eventually Neela gave up on her search and plopped down next to Kiara for a breather. Together the pair rested, catching their breath and recuperating their energy. All of the running, chasing, tagging, and falling had taken a lot out of the pair of canines. Kiara let out a muffled bark in response to the collie's comment, but the two stayed for the most part stayed quiet.

The prospect of an adventure lured away from her thoughts on Sarain. The arctic wolf's tail beat the ground excitedly and she dashed off out of the room and through the hallway. It took only a moment for Kiara to reach the front room again. Kiara looked around and as her eyes traveled looking for the perfect spot. The front counter caught her eye and Kiara dashed over. In an instant Kiara had deposited the toy on top of the counter and was rushing back to the room where she had left Neela. This way, Kiara would still have use of her jaws and the toy was waiting for her at what she believed to be the only entrance to the building. Kiara ran back into the storehouse. A mischievous smile ran across her snowy face. "Alright, ready when you are. Let's see what we can find or destroy."

Neela chuckled at Kiara's wording but didn’t argue with it either and began to trot around the room, looking to see if she could find anything interesting. She first went o the large doors that she had spotted earlier, but putting her ear to the doors revealed that the metal was icy cold, "Hmmm, feels like these just go straight outside." Neela muttered, before inspecting the rest of the room.

As Neela toured the room some more, sticking her nose into whenever nooks and crannies she could find, she began talking to Kiara, "So, you said that the toy was for a puppy? Is the puppy yours or…?" Neela trailed off, leaving the question open ended. While the way Kiara had phrased the sentence made it seem as though the puppy wasn't hers it seemed safer to make sure now, rather than risk offending the friendly wolf later. "Anyway that should safeguard your tail nicely," Neela gave a chuckle and shot a grin towards Kiara, "I traded some fish for something similar for my son when he was small, never managed to find one that made a noise though" Talking about Leon brought its usual pang of sorrow, but less than the time before. Each time she talked about him seemed to ease the loss a little bit and the only sign of her reaction was her tail drooping slightly for a split second.

Suddenly something shiny caught Neela's eye. Sitting on top of a nearby stack of shelves was some sort of metal box, the metal was well kept and was glinting brightly in a small ray of sun poking in through a small window. Trotting over to the shelves Neela began to inspect them, noting with displeasure that they were screwed to the floor; secure enough to make moving the shelf difficult but loose enough that climbing the shelf would be a daunting task.

"So then, any ideas how we could get that thing down?" Neela asked Kiara, curious about the contents of the box but coming up blank when she tried to think of ways to dislodge it.

books on the shelves

So their adventure began. Both Kiara and Neela were inspecting the room. While Neela was actually searching, the snow wolf spent most of her time wandering around aimlessly. There were many cracks along the wall, and just like the previous rooms the floor boards were coming up in many locations. At one point the floor creaked so badly Kiara was sure it would give way if she put her whole weight on it. Gingerly, she placed one paw onto the boards and slowly pushed down, trying to see how much strength it would take to break the boards. Thankfully, the young wolf never made it that far.

Kiara took her foot off the boards and trotted over to Neela to see if she had found anything interesting while saying, "No, no. Not my puppy. I'm the packs Ikusei, which basically means I look after all of the puppies. The puppy belongs to a friend I am living with." It didn't really look like Neela had found anything interesting. Kiara let her mind and head wander. There was a moth flying around the room that caught the arctic wolf's eye, but other than that nothing else seemed to interest her. Even Neela's statement about her son barely caught Kiara's attention.

What did catch the young wolf's attention was Neela heading over to the shelves on the other side of the room. Whatever the collie had seen, it was certainly worth her interest. Kiara followed Neela, trying to figure out what she was looking at. Was it the shiny box? Or the rectangular objects sitting on the different levels. If Neela's question was anything to go by then it had to be the box. Kiara stood up and used the shelf to keep her upright. Her fluffy tail wagging back and forth. "If only I could shift, then I might be able to reach it. Hmm. I could support the shelf if you wanted to climb it. Or, we could try to bring the shelves down." Kiara hadn't noticed the screws holding the shelf in place. Even if she had, she wouldn't have made anything of them.

Neela cocked her head, glancing at the upright wolf and the shelf she was leaning against. "Hmmm. Knocking it down probably wouldn’t work, its screwed in to tight. I guess I might be light enough to climb it if you leaned against it, lets give it a try."

Neela quickly made her way to the shelf and started to climb up over Kiara's back, making sure to drop her weight outwards so that Kiara would be supporting the shelf rather than pushing it down. The climb was easy at the lower levels but as Neela made her way higher it slowly began to become more and more unstable, to the point where Neela could feel the shelf swaying slightly as she reached the top, nearly ten feet off the ground.

Suddenly just before Neela could reach the box the metal around one of the screws broke with a horrible screech of tortured metal and the shelf tilted backwards alarmingly. Realising that the shelf was about to fall down onto Kiara Neela yelped loudly and let go, one of her flailing arms knocking the box from its perch atop the shelf as she did so.

As Neela fell she kicked out at the shelf, the act both righting the shelf so that it was no longer falling down onto her and Kiara and also sending Neela flying backwards. She hit the concrete ground hard on her back, the impact taking her breath away and sending a nasty ache through her shoulders, but had enough momentum to roll backwards over her shoulder with the fall, coming to rest on her bottom among the cardboard boxes from before.

Neela quickly righted herself, letting out a quiet whine at the pain in her shoulders, before glancing around for Kiara. Neela's landing had kicked up a thick cloud of dust and Neela couldn’t see the white wolf through it, though she subconsciously noticed the glint of the box where it had landed in a shaft of sunlight.

"Kiara, you okay?" she called out into the dust.

Although Neela insisted that she could climb the shelf Kiara was doubtful that the cases could hold anything more than old books. The snow wolf didn't know about screws, she didn't know that they held things down. Kiara had minimal experience when it came to human objects, but she trusteed the collie to know better. After all, Neela was a luperci and probably used things that were "screwed in" all the time. Kiara couldn't even open a door. "Alright, I'll do my best." Kiara's tail was wagging in full force. She wanted to know what was in the shiny box that was so high up. Again, it was a human thing, but at least this human thing was shiny.

A small grunt escaped from Kiara as the bi-colored dog climbed over her back. Neela wasn't heavy per say, but she was still almost as big as Kiara herself. At first the arctic wolf only leaned against the shelf lightly. She didn't see any use in wasting her energy when it wasn't needed. Curious eyes watched as Neela slowly made her way up the wooden shelving. The higher Neela climbed, the more Kiara had to brace the shelf. Eventually she was straining just to keep the shelf upright. The snow wolf had her shoulder braced against the wood and all of her weight and strength were used in an attempt to keep the shelf an upright position.

Just as Neela was about to reach the top, and their goal, Kiara's strength gave out and the shelf began to collapse. Immediately Kiara's ears and fluffy body flattened as she ducked out of the way of the falling shelf. In an impressive feat of dexterity, Neela managed to not only knock the box off of the shelf, but kick the shelf back into place. Kiara watched the whole thing wide-eyed and filled with awe. Even though the shelf was righted, it still rocked dangerously back and forth. Kiara scrambled up to the wooden structure and pushed her large paws against its center, righting the shelf once and for all.

Kiara heard Neela whining with pain but when the snow wolf turned there was no collie to be found. Instead a large dust cloud filled the room and the irritating particles made Kiara sneeze a few times. From somewhere deep inside the cloud of dust Neela's voice originated, her worried tone reaching Kiara. "Yeah, I'm fine." Kiara sneezed three more times before asking, "What about you? Are you okay Neela?" The arctic wolf tentativly entered the dust cloud, her head swiveling back and forth as she attempted to see where the collie had fallen.

Neela strode out of the dust cloud quickly but painfully, her least hurt right arm holding her left shoulder, "Yeah I'm fine, just a bit battered." Neela's tone was light but she was a bit worried about her shoulder. As she left the dust and caught sight of Kiara, Neela started to shirt. Her shoulders were the last thing to change and her transformation seemed to hang up as it reached them, before lurching forwards with a loud crack which was atypical of Neela's normally quiet transformations.

Despite being fairly jarring sounding the transformation had helped and was followed by a satisfied moan from Neela as the now Lupus form hybrid rolled her shoulders, "Mmmm, love the feeling when I do that." Neela muttered, referring to the odd hitch in transformation which had caused the crack, a similar act to cracking ones knuckles but on a larger scale, before perking up and glancing over at the box, "Well! Lets go see what we got shall we?"

The box had been locked shut by an odd type of human lock that Neela knew was called a padlock but said padlock was rusty and had seemingly been cracked open by the fall so Neela was able to manoeuvre it off fairly easily and open the box. Neela was fairly disappointed by the contents, just rows and rows of odd rectangles made out of green paper. Neela nosed in to look at the paper but it didn’t look very interesting so she tipped the box over, large amounts of the paper falling out onto the floor followed by several other objects.

Neela nosed a bag of dried leaves out of the way, growling lightly, Hoja de Idiota, don’t know what its actually called in english but it translates to idiot leaf." Neela nosed the powder aside and looked deeper into the box, seeing what else was in there. All that she found was a long object wrapped tightly in protective padding. Neela broke open the padding to find an intricate glass structure inside.

Neela dragged the glass instrument out into the sunlight where it glittered prettily and nosed over it, wondering what it was used for; Neela's mind not quite making the connection between this odd construction and the cannabis in the box. "What d'you think it is?" She asked Kiara, gazing at the other wolfs face, distorted through the glass and giving a small laugh at the sight.

As the snow wolf walked blindly through the cloud of dust she saw a flash of red. Quickly Kiara followed the fur like a beacon and soon both canines were out of the dust cloud. Neela had professed that she was alright, which was a great relief to the younger wolf. The collie's fall looked and sounded nasty, so Kiara was more than happy to know that her new friend had come out unscathed.

The non-luperci's sapphire orbs became rounded disks as her eyes widened in surprise. There was Neela, shifting into lupus form. It was something Kiara had not seem very much and she always loved to watch the strange process with a sense of awe. Her form melted and blended and changed quickly. The last thing to shift was her shoulders, and they lurched with a loud snap before settling into position. The ear rattling sound made Kiara flinch. It sounded like it had really hurt, although Neela seemed to enjoy the sensation. Kiara cocked her head to the side, confusion rattling her brian. How could something that sounded so awful feel good? Giving up, Kiara shook her head. She resigned her self a while ago to not understanding the ways of the multi-forms.

Together, Neela and Kiara padded over to the box where Kiara got an impromptu lesson on pad locks. Kiara didn't know what they were, or what a lock was for that matter, but Neela said it was broken so the box could be opened. At first there wasn't really anything interesting in the box. Just green rectangular leaves and some other dried leaves that made Neela excited. Neela called the dried leaves "idiot leaf" as well as something else in a language Kiara didn't know. Whatever they were, they didn't peak Kiara's interest. There was another object that Neela pulled out and this one did catch Kiara's interest. The collie dragged the strange glass object over to the light so they could inspect it. The arctic wolf watched as it sparkled and shined in the dim light. Although she had no idea what it's purpose might be, it sure did look pretty. "Honestly, I wouldn't know. I don't know about human things. I can't shift so they don't really hold my interest."

Shall we start to wrap this up? I can’t really think of anything else to write D=.

The odd glass object fogged up as Neela huffed at it lightly, the act sending a small cloud of mist from her mouth toward the glass, where it settled. The collie peered inquisitively at the distortion before tentatively leaning forward and licking the glass, which produced no results other than the cold material chilling her tongue. When Kiara confirmed that she didn’t know either Neela let out a small hum of disappointment. While the collie considered herself fairly knowledgeable about humans due to the large amount of traders, traveller and storytellers that had frequented her childhood home humans and the majority of their works were still largely mysterious to her, with this odd glass contraption seemingly being one of those unsolvable mysteries.

Still it was pretty and Neela was tempted to take it with her but she decided against it; she had no permanent home to store it in and preferred to simply keep the more practical human artefacts with her until she did. Something else that Kiara said also stood out to her, in-fact now that Neela thought about it Kiara had mentioned this earlier but the collie hadn’t took it in at the time as she had been excited by the thought of what might be inside the box, "You can't shift?" Neela asked curiously. As more and more wolves came together the amount of uninfected canines was pretty low and Kiara would be only the third uninfected canine Neela had seen in her entire life.

After giving Kiara a while to respond, Neela turned her head to look at the window, beyond the weak light streaming in Neela could see that the snow was still falling gently outside. Turning back to Kiara, Neela asked "You want to head back outside? Too nice a day to spend stuck in some human building." Neela punctuated her point with a glance downwards and a loud huff, not that it had proved empty of interesting loot the grey concrete construction was proving irritating and stifling to the collie, who generally only used the less attractive human structures for supplies and nothing more.
