Fires on the brink
#1
ooc: let me reply with Zana first, then anyone can join...

She had been gone a long long time. Why had she chosen to bring greetings to the creatures that probably hated her the most, or at least those that could remember her. This, she had no choice in. Jac had decided that they would spend time in Eire alongside her brother and his mate for a moment in time, when they had finally left to return to their life of piracy she had been asked to return to the lands they were from and bestow upon their tiny sibling a rather annoying and bothersome gift.

The Sadira woman stood proud and arragant on the edge of their lands. She knew the clan and she knew their ways, not as well as the actual members, but enough to keep her distance when she called for the pygmy sibling of hers. She knew she was here, the younger woman's scent coated the lands border. Firefly wouldn't admit it but she was rather impressed the tiny one had lived through the events in Eire and returned to their real world to make a name for herself. She knew the younger Sadira would do nothing but make a damn show for herself or die trying.. it was in their blood after all.

Firefly had tried many ways to make a name for herself, she was a snake of sorts, a golddigger, the plaything of kings, of leaders.. but she was dark under it all and she planned on making her name now. She was done being second best, done being a puppet. There was a darkness inside her that had been growing and breeding in her heart. The beast wished to be unleased and the woman was alone on the shore this time.. with deeds to be done and hearts to be turned.

She had been up late that day, and when the dusk began to grow over the lands she was startled out of her daily duties by the sound of a call she knew well enough was wolf, but was also blood. Ice ran through her veins as she recognized the voice as her fullblooded wolf sibling. She had only spoken of the woman to Helotes, and she had never mentioned her bloodlines to him, now the beast was at her door and her secret was about to be blown to the winds. She growled softly to herself and shook the softly drifting snow from her pelt. She was so not ready for this.

The small woman shifted from one form to another, the Optime form was best for travel and meeting with her sibling. She knew the woman prefered to travel in the same form and she needed all the height she could get dealing with her sister's barbed tongue and deadly remarks. She growled again, muttering to herself as she set off towards the borders to figure out just what in the world her damn wolf relative wanted. Last she knew she wasn't residing in the lands, llast she knew the woman was the bedwarmer of the pirate captain who had once lead the Court pack.. now she was just trouble at the border.

It took her nearly an hour to travel the distance from the deep woods to the beachfront where Firefly was sitting. She narrowed her eyes as she caught sight of the woman but didn't slow her approach. The small woman trotted out to the edge of their lands with a dark hued feline following behind her like a shadow guardian. Her words were brisk but not cruel as she asked, "Hello Firefly.. a bit dangerous coming here is it not, sister.." Her lilac eyes studied the metalic hues of her sister's pelt as she felt a stab of jealousy. The woman would always be a striking beauty, something she could only wish for.

Helotes laid silent like a part of the rock of which he was sitting upen, nothing giving him away save the wind carrying the scent of the clove cigarette he was currently smoking, and the glow of said cig. It was a quiet night, and he watched the waves crash upon the beach, the caverns aglow not far off. He wasn’t sure why exactly he had come here this evening, but as the sun started to settle in the sky he believed it might be for peace, in whatever form he could take it. But this peace was not to be, for just as he took the last drag of the spicy cigarette a wolf call rang out; and it was close.

His umber eyes flitted down to the beach, and in the distance he could see the feminine silhouette of a Luperci. He didn’t react in anger, or disdain like he might have in the near past; no, instead his was a reaction of complete non-complacency. Now that he had gained the rank of Hydra, and had trained hard under Halo, he felt as if the cleaning up of trespasser trash was no longer his job. But this wolf had some guts coming this far into Inferni territory. Helotes begrudgingly flicked away the butt of the cigarette, and like a cat crept down through the rocks on all fours, despite his being in Optime.

He hid among the rocks of the beach once he met them, eyeing the female curiously. She was quite becoming, her fur like golden silk, and she had a look on her face like she was waiting for something, something that amused her greatly. Who was this woman? He would soon find out.

A familiar scent then graced his nose, and Zana appeared, in her two-legged form which he so adored. Crouching even lower, he watched as she called out to the female, warning her and calling her… sister? Helotes eyes widened; this wolfess was Zana’s sister? It couldn’t be! They looked so different. But feeling that his curiousity had be satiated, and there was no need to blood shed tonight, Helotes came out from the shadows, bringing himself to his full masculine height; he decided to be political first, "You have some nerve trespassing on our borders, wolfess, sister or not." He gave her his trademark sly grin, giving away that he was not being completely serious.

It didn't surprise her that the smaller female made her wait so long. She was a bitch like that, just like their mother, always making everyone know that she was different and that she would let you know it. Her emerald eyes sparkled as she watched the tiny beast finally make her way across the sands. The silvery gold woman flicked her tail in boredom as she let her weight slip from one leg to the other, her curves shifting slowly as she almost stood at pose as the other woman finally spoke.

She smiled, a dark little expression on her lips as she shrugged a shoulder slightly. "When one is ordered to dance by the grand master one does what the man asks, is it not so little lady?" She purred the words, so cruel and cutting as she let her emerald orbs close slightly. She had caught sight of the feline following Zana and let a little hiss escape her lips, she watched in amusement as the small creature yowled and arched it's back, spitting and spatting at her for the insult she had thrown his way. A musical bit of laughter escaped her lips at his distress but was cut short as the appearance and sound of another cut into her moment with her younger sibling.

Those sparkling eyes of mischief turned towards the voice, dancing as she caught sight of the male that had wrecked her moment to put her sister in her place. Firefly cared not what the pygmy's rank was, in her eyes she'd always be lower than Firefly, always putting herself in places where she would slave away and gain so little. She batted her eyes slightly and sighed. "These borders are so hard to tell where they end and begin when the tide washes them away so often..." She pouted slightly, wondering if the man was such a fool to fall play to such feminine ways. She wasn't certain, but he was sure fine to look at, coyote blood or not.

Ice dripped down her spine as the female began to taunt her almost instantly. While she held some sort of grudged respect for her older sibling she had never taken the chance to really know her, to try and understand the reasons why the beauty did the things she did. She'd taken DaVinci's advice from early on and stayed out of Firefly's way unless she had to become involved with the woman. Now she was howling at the borders of the coyote clan, begging for trouble and putting Zana's face right to the front of it all. She felt her heckles raise slightly, knowing that the woman loved when she put the smaller female on thin ice, and right now Zana felt the sheet beneith her paws could shatter at any second. "DaVinci never ordered me to return to Inferni.." She hissed, her grey lilac eyes narrowing as she wondered just what the woman mean aside from causing trouble. She had come back because she wanted to.. why had Firefly returned.

She growled a warning to her sister as she asked. "Why then have you returned?" She was hoping to be able to send her bitch of a sister on her way quickly but the woman had already caught the attention of other Inferni members. Zana's ears pitched back as the sound of Helotes voice carried across the land. She turned her eyes to watch the male as he approached, the lone warrior in the pack, at equal rank with Zana, though always they seemed to have been at equal rank in a way. She couldn't help but wish that he would leave though as she caught onto his mocking game. While once she had teased the man about meeting her sister she had not been completely serious.. and she had never wished to be present when it happened either...but here she was in the very mists of what she wished was not happening.

Her tail swished back and forth in annoyance, ignoring the small manx feline who had chosen to hide behind her now that he was dealing with both Helotes and this strange female. She turned her eyes to Helotes as she ignored Firefly's remarks. "This is Firefly.. hopefully she will be leaving quite quickly.." she growled as she wanted this meeting to end. Her sister still was playing games though, having her fun at not telling anything as she now had her own little audience as well. Zana was far from amused.

Helotes could tell from Zana’s demeanor that she was not happy with the sudden appearance of her sister, and Helotes picked up on this immediately. Ever since their talk about Halo, Helotes wanted to prove to Zana in a way that he cared for her deeply, and wished for her always to be happy; if her sister was a hindrance to this, then Helotes will show her shortly on her way.

He watched as the female wolfess batted her eyelashes at him, pouted, and kicked her feminine hips; had he been a younger, weaker man he might have fallen for this, but he saw through her womanly wiles like the farce that they were. Perhaps Zana had suggested to him that he meet her sister in jest, knowing full well that Helotes was a lady’s man, and therefore would have quite a fine time with this sultry sister. But Helotes was not going to fall for these sexual diversions this time.

He sneered at the wolfess, ears pricked forward, Oh, so this is Firefly is it? Too bad that she’s all beauty and no brains; only the mentally handicapped would not be able to see the clearly marked borders of Inferni, tides or no tides. He slipped closer to the female, noting her perfectly groomed name, the way she held herself; everything about her screamed strumpet, her feigned innocence was like the cherry on top of the whore sundae.

He gave her another grin, but this one held hints of a snarl in it, Please, do tell us princess why you have come and graced us with your incompetency? He didn’t know why, but he was quite enjoying this, he hadn't spoken down to someone in quite a long time. But she was Zana’s sister, and he was sure she would have some witty retort.

Zana had always been DaVinci's shadow and Firefly knew that. She had watched the adoring look in the tiny woman's eyes even when she was a child and DaVinci had taken to mothering her. It only had seemed to grow as she had followed their brother to Ireland. Firefly should have been the peacemaker, the middle sibling, but no, she was a bitch and she let the world know it. She had suggested DaVinci take Zana on his quest overseas, hoping that somewhere along the lines the freak of nature would have met her ends but the fates were being cruel to the metallic woman and the pygmy hadn't died.. infact she seemed to have thrived in the wilds. Firefly was not pleased at all.

"Yes, of course.. but you would have, if he had asked.. right?" She said, taunting the woman with near babyish words as she shook her head sadly. "You.. loved him.. did you not" She asked. She knew the woman loved her older brother, but the answer she was looking for was on a darker level. Her eyes glowed with amusement as she flicked them towards the male for a moment as she sighed. "I returned with greetings from your family. DaVinci, Ryan and their children...but I doubt if you wish to hear such things.." She knew that Zana would be dying to know of what her hybrid mixed blooded brother and his mate and brood were up to. She might even tell her too.. if she was nice enough.

...But it seemed that the lovely male that had come calling didn't want to play along with Firefly's game and the woman tossed her silky curls over her shoulder as she rolled her eyes with a sigh. She yawned before setting her emerald eyes back on the beast. "Do you think I haven't heard such mindless yappings before mutt.." Her eyes were filled with wicked humor as she purred, ignoring his insults. "Inferni is not unknown to me.. I've spent time within these bounderies lass.. I know just where each and ever boundry lies.." She fluttered her eyes at him sweetly as she had turned away from the bastard of the clan, her eyes back to her favorite victim of all when his mocking tones fell upon her silky ears.

She sighed and kept her eyes on her sister as she answered the male. "Just to greet my sweet Sadira sister and to bring words of the world to the east back to the humble soils where we all began our journey." She purred, her words so sickenly sweet as she gazed down at her younger sibling, one of the few who never had shared the Sadira name, only some halfcast name of the coyote clan because their slut of a mother had no clue who the halfcast male she'd slept with had been. "Do you even belong here Zana..." She asked cruely as she watched and waited.

She felt herself shrinking further and further into herself the longer her sibling stood there. She had always kept a distant relationship with her sister for a reason. The woman was like a viper. She could never be tamed and she was deadly and dangerous, not just out of a need to survive but out of a want. Zana felt the tension between them prickle and warp as her sister spoke further. She had no knowledge of who Helotes was and Zana didn't wish to give her another barb to work into her flesh. She was already doing well enough with the damage she was dealing the small woman already.

Her oversized ears folded back as the sickening sweet words of the wolfess filled the air. She would have blushed if she could have, though she knew her cheek grew warm at the suggestion that Firefly spat between them. She ignored the suggestion and answered the simple question. "He never would have asked such a thing.." She said softly, though it was too late, the seed of doubt was planted in her mind. Would he have.. that voice asked. She tried to push it back but the dark tendrils were already weaving through her doubts and fears. Had she been to involved in all their lives in Eire, had she been too close to their leader.. Had Ryan wished her gone...

She had never had those kind of feeling for her sibling but she had adored him. She had worshiped him in a way, he had saved her from a likely death as a child and had raised her with kindness.. he had been the closest thing to a father to her. She shook the ideas from her head as she growled and narrowed her eyes. She should have known Firefly wouldn't appear without a game of sorts. The bitch had always had a taste for devilish antics and here she was playing right into them. She spat on the ground between them and sighed. "I grow tired of this Firefly.. just speak." She wished she could have explained things to Helotes earlier about the ways of her family but it was too late as he would learn first hand.

The small woman watched as Helotes drew closer even. Her eyes watching him a little too long as she half listened to the silly remarks of her sibling. She flicked an ear back slightly as her demented sister referred to her as a Sadira, her eyes slowly drew off of Helotes as she glared at Firefly. The woman knew full well that she was not a Sadira. She was what her mother had named her and she was fine with that. It seemed that the Sadira name came with some rather large and dangerous pawprints to fill and Zana knew she was a far fetched version of anything associated with that clan of purests. She shook her head sadly as she groaned. "I don't need your approval to belong.. nor do I need the approval of the Sadira line either." Zana was accepted as herself, bloodlines or not she knew where she belonged.. and just where she was wanted. She was starting to think that Firefly was overstaying her tolerated welcome..

Just as he had expected she retorted with some imbecile and childish thing and Helotes just kept the half-lidded grin on his face. To him, she was just making herself seem more and more stupid. But he let her have her way, her insults falling on completely uncaring ears as she turned back to Zana and began speaking with her. Behind her back Helotes struck a feminine pose mirroring hers and mouthed along with her as she spoke, except mimicking her actions to a ridiculous degree. After that became old he pretended to vomit behind her, all the while remaining silent.

It was obvious she was just trying to rile Zana up, and Helotes hoping that his jester-like actions would send the message to his cousin to take the high road and ignore her sister’s venom. There was no need for a strong woman like Zana to let her siblings qualms get under her skin, the stupid wolf bitch was obviously just doing it for attention, or conflict or something. Helotes really hated women like this, petty and cattish; he preferred strong women with a good head on their shoulders.

She then however said something that did bristle his hackles; she suggested in her statement that Zana did not belong, and this caused his stomach to go sour. He growled low and threateningly, his eyes like fire, You push the limits... he said in a dangerous whisper.

She was unaware of the actions of the pathedic male behind her as she had turned her attention to Zana. She knew it was slightly unwise to turn one's back to a member of Inferni, she'd made that mistake in the past once, but she doubted Zana would allow the dog to attack, even if she did push her too far. Blood ran thick between the siblings, even if they were always at eachothers throats. It was the way of the Sadira line, or at least those of their mother's blood. She didn't know well enough of her aunts and uncles and their kin to see if the strange antics carried that far. She doubted it though, she doubted any of the other Sadira line had been as crazy as their mother had been in the mates, affairs and games she had played. Firefly knew these thoughts were unfair but she didn't care.. just like she didn't care what her sister thought of her games.

But she sighed as Zana spoke, rolling her eyes and giving up as she flicked her bangs out of her eyes. "Fine. DaVinci sends word that as soon as things are in order the family will be returning to these lands.." Though she knew that could be moons or even seasons she figured that Zana would believe the fellow to show up any day. She was so sad like that, always hopeful that someone would come along and save her. Firefly shook her head and growled lightly. "I came back.. for my own reasons.. but just being the messanger for our dear beloved.." Her words carried an added flare of drama as she finally folded her arms and glared at her sister for a moment.

That moment of plotting was interupted as right after Zana spoke of not needing her approval or the Sadira approval for how she lived her life Helotes snarled and broke in with his own views on the comments she had offered. The soft whisper behind her ear made her turn, one hand caressing down the hybrid male's cheek as she smiled. "It's all fair in love and war honey.." For to live with their bloodlines was to walk a thin line between love and war. Zana knew it just as well as Firefly did, infact the pint sized bitch should know it better than any of them.

Firefly turned her eyes back to Zana as she smiled sweetly. "Your own personal savage guard my petite princess?" Her eyes were cold though as she spoke.

She tried, she tried so so hard just to ignore Helotes mime work behind her sister. It grew increasingly harder to keep a straight face as she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Her grey lilac orbs flickered from his gestures to the savage and cruel beauty of her sister as she sighed. The gods really must have thought this funny to place her in the middle of such a strange and wicked family. If it wasn't one bloodline that was going to get her it was the other. She shifted her small frame from one foot to the other as she tried impatiently to wait for the two to finish their games. Some days she felt like she was raising a whole barn of heathen children, not surrounded by family and friends.

Her eyes rolled upwards finally at Helotes as Sup-Sup climbed onto her hindpaws to perch and glare at the two creatures he was disliking at the moment. Zana was finally graced with a real response from her sister and her sudden harassed stature was changed suddenly to one of interest and surprise. She had not expected DaVinci or Ryan to leave the safety of the clans of Eire for some time. She knew their children had been biting at the bit to return to the strange lands they had visited as young pups but their parents hadn't let them leave when Zana had. She almost was lost in though as she wondered what had changed to make the pair willing to try and return now.

Lilac eyes flickered back to Firefly a moment as she decided once more to ignore her comments on her own agenda. She knew that the hussy would probably find some pack or packs to start creating chaos in and the Inferni woman hoped she was far far away when these troubles began. Her sibling might be petty, but she could pack a wicked blow when she wanted to. The Sadira temper ran hot in the females of their line.. she knew it well enough.

A chill ran down her spine though as the flurries of snow fluttered around them. The low whisper of Helotes voice caused her to turned her gaze to the male who had suddenly grown serious. She realized that their own conversations in the past had probably drawn him in to speak on the insult Firefly had tried to throw at her. She flicked her ears back as Firefly didn't even bat an eye as she replied to his words, hardly phased by his threatening appearance and the fire in his eyes. Zana was a moment late in speaking up but her voice growled loud enough to be heard.

"Enough." She knew her sister was a bitch, that much was obvious to Helotes now, but she would rather her evening not be ruined by the games of half siblings who had freshly laid paw on the sands of these lands. She narrowed her eyes as she snarled. "Unless you want to find yourself a prisoner of these lands once more Firefly I'd find the shortest path to new territory if I was you.." She grinned wickedly as she raised a brow in suggestion. "Unless you'd like to see what my savage guard can do...sister." Her eyes were cold as she stared straight at the woman that somehow shared blood with her. They were alike in many ways.. but so different just the same.

Helotes listened keenly to the interaction between the two sisters, just now taking heed at what they were saying. It was cryptic, but he somewhat understood it. Though Zana had never discussed in detail her past, he knew that she had lived somewhere foreign for some time with her siblings, and that she came from the Sadira as well as Lykoi line, but more than that he did not know. Helotes stood behind Firefly poised to strike her down if he had to; he wouldn’t kill her, he could not do so in front of Zana, but he would make it clear that her foolishness would not go unpunished.

But such an opportunity never presented itself, though when the bitch turned and patted it him on the cheek it was all he could do to keep from biting her hand off; but he refrained, instead donning a look that had You’re an idiot written all over it. A few more sarcastic and witty remarks were thrown before Zana showed her strength and told her sister that she best be going now, lest she see Inferni’s wrath personified through Helotes. The Lykoi grinned viciously again, holding up his razor sharp claws a little higher for the Sadira girl to see, Indeed. Though I’m not sure which one is the savage here.

He stepped forward a little, his form large in caparison to hers, making it very clear that she best be on her way and fast. He had grown exceedingly tired of her, and if he had to fight her off he would. Now, under Halo’s training, Helotes had grown extremely confident and formidable in the face of battle; he could not lose, especially against the incompetent Sadira princess. He was beginning to hold control over the beast inside him, the one that only presented itself in the intensity of the fight; where in the past he had been as like a tornado, unstoppable and uncontrollable, now he was like a lightening strike, intense and pinpointed. Firefly knew not of the true danger she was in.

It was beyond obvious that she had overstayed her welcome, though she was surprised she'd been allowed to tread on their soil this long. She was quiet as she waited for her sister to finally grow a backbone and speak up to her. A slight smile spread across her lips as she was greeted with the type of tone she had expected from Zana in the first place. She wasn't surprised that her younger sibling of sorts had resorted to reminding her of what these lands had been to her once. She did raise a brow slightly as she shook her head sadly at the words of the woman. "You've grown soft lil' sister.." she stated truthfully as she sighed and rolled her eyes at the possibilities she was now left with.

She raised her paws in a draw as she frowned, eying her sibling for a moment before turning, nearly running into her sister's silly guard dog as she spoke. "You'll be seeing me again Zana.. but I can tell when I;m not wanted.." She let her eyes drift over the male before her as he decided to show his talon like claws to her, speaking of savages and wondering just who was the real savage of the lot. She only smile at him darkly, knowing all along that there were quite a few savage beasts right here, but not all of them had come to play just yet.

"Ok puppy, I'm on my way.." she teased of the male as she gave one final flicker of her tail and moved past his solid frame. She padded softly along the beach. She knew her way off their lands, but she wouldn't put it past her sister to follow her to make certain she left. After all, they were more alike than the small woman would ever want to admit too.

Zana was silent as she watched her sister put on her final little flare of a show before turning her back on the two. She lifted her head up, her chin raised as she stared the emerald eyed beast dead on. She didn't even bother replying to the off remark on her nature, for Zana knew well enough she was exactly where she wanted to be. There was no use in testing waters with her sister, it seemed that by her own words that were fated to meet again. She didn't readily approve of having to see her dark souled sibling anytime soon but she would watch, and wait.. and do what she must when the time came.

Upon her departure Zana growled softly. "Then it is as it must be.. sister.." She said quietly. She would tend to her duties until the fierce woman found her once more, for Zana would not be drawn into a game of cat and mouse with the creature anytime soon. There was enough she had to do without getting mixed up in whatever witchery her sibling had planned. She didn't even want to start thinking of what the woman had up her sleeve since she'd found some new grounds for returning to these lands.

She watched the figure padding across the sands, finally letting out her breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Dark banded ears flickered to and fro as the woman drew out of sight. She was quiet a moment before she spoke. "We will wait.. then make certain she's truly left the lands.." She didn't trust the woman, she didn't think she ever would.. but right now she had other things on her mind aside from silly games her Sadira sister wished to play.

Helotes remained dangerously close to the fiery wolfess as she exchanged last words with her sister. Emanating from him was a constant low and threatening rumble of a growl. He wanted her gone, he did not like the way she spoke, the way she acted, the way she smelled; everything about this woman was offensive to him. Finally she turned, giving him one last pathetic insult before making her way down the beach and out of sight. Helotes could hear Zana sigh beside him, but his umber eyes were fixed upon the place he had seen that bitch disappear to. Finally thought, his little cousin spoke and he turned slowly to her.

The ginger fur of his cousin was dusted with snow, giving her a ethereal appearance in the dim light. He was softened momentarily, and knelt down to nuzzle her gently on the throat; she smelled of sweat and poison and he relished the scent. Drawing back from her then, he turned to look back down the beach again and began to shift. It was a quick change, from Optime to Secui, but once he had attained the form he looked back at Zana; he was massive in comparison to her now.

I’m going to make sure she leaves Inferni. He said gruffly, the unnerving scenario of just a few moments ago playing out on his mind. He could not understand how Firefly and Zana could be so different, and still be considered sisters. Though he and his brothers were by no means clones, their similarities were easy to notice. But Firefly, she was like some slithering serpent where Zana was like a bird of prey; both dangerous perhaps, but completely different.
