Query and Echo

It was midday in Halifax; that time when the weak sun shone as brightly as it could. The day was relatively warm, despite the snow and ice making the streets rather dangerous. Only a light breeze disturbed the clean, virginal white of the unmarked powder. It was quite beautiful, in a way. Very beautiful. A primal instinct urged him to make his mark on what a primitive part of his brain urged was free territory, a way of warning off competition. What was it about fresh snow that immediately made one want to disturb it?

Sebastian wasn't sure.

He was currently living in a relatively intact ground-floor apartment. The best things were that it had a bed and insulation; the worst things were the broken window in the bathroom and the cracked floorboards. Still, it would do until he got something more permanent.

Sebastian went to the second floor and looked out on the streets from a low balcony, waiting for something to come along and bring some excitement into his life. Maybe someone who had managed to get a human vehicle working. A fellow artist, maybe. If he was lucky, perhaps a best friend for the night who wouldn't mind exchanging some mutual heat.

Until that person arrived Sebastian lazily brushed snow off the balcony with a long stick he had picked up. His jeans were dampened, as was his chest, but he didn't mind much. It was something, at least.

This was... something new for him. Something unexpected and quite out of the ordinary. His paws slipped and skidded on the ice covered road and the giant boy found himself hard pressed to stay completely upright, whenever one leg got itself under control the others would suddenly lose theirs and fly out from under him. It took the secui behemoth however only a time of perhaps five or ten minutes to work out that purposely skidding across the ice was endlessly fun. And resulted in the invention of a new game for the man boy. Seeing how far he could slide for before he actually fell over from lack of balance.

His games eventually brought him to the edge of a hill that had taken on the slipperiness of an ice rink with the rain that had flowed down it only to freeze between the globs of asphalt until it overflowed from the small pits to make one solid sheet of ice. It only took the barest of thoughts, of dares to himself to send him wheeling down the hill at top speed. Once he had pushed himself over the edge of the rather steep hill it was all he could do to stay upright as his legs constantly threatened to slip out from under him. The man boy yelled out into the air with a loud whoop followed by laughter that echoed off into the deserted town.

When it came time to stop however his claws did nothing to aid him, a momentary rise of panic and fear clawed up his throat until he began to approach the bottom of the hill and slow naturally as gravity lost its hold on him. He finished his spectacular road ice surf ploughing into a large drift of snow and sending white power everywhere in a mini explosion of the stuff. When he emerged he was covered in the stuff from head to toe and looked like some kind of snowman that had come to life.

Eeep, edited!

Sebastian was not left alone to his brooding for very long. A loud yell of excitement, deafening in the quiet of the dead city, made his head turn with one brow raised. It was a huge Luperci; at least, he thought it was a Luperci. Trent had been an ordinary wolf, supposedly, but surely no wolf was that huge. He was a massive beast, big and strong with fur in typical shades of brown.

He also appeared to be enjoying himself on the icy roads, yelling like a lunatic as he slipped down to hill with impressive speed. He ended up smashing rather spectacularly into a snowdrift, the white powder coating him almost completely. Well, this could be fun.

Sebastian dropped the stick, stripped off his jeans and shifted. It took two and a half minutes before the process was complete and he was able to hop down from his perch. The newcomer seemed a little crazy, and Sebastian liked crazy.

Still, the excitable young man seemed nice enough. Crazed murderers didn't tend to entertain themselves so loudly. The lean Italian sprinted over to the unknown male, his body like red quicksilver as he cleared the metal fence in two bounds. Once he was on the road, his pace slowed to a jog.

"Enjoying yourself?" he called out, a smirk on his muzzle as his head tilted. Young men were such fun to play with. He was, after all, one himself.

The sound of the voice of another had him pulling himself from the snow pile that he had so gloriously and spectacularly destroyed. The pile looked like a small asteroid had struck it and blown away most of the heap leaving just a crater in the middle with shallow walls around it. Emerald and purple eyes found the form of the one that had spoken to him, like a larger version of a fox was the youngish male that came up to his dusky pelted form. Lorenzo shook his entire body, sending snow once again flying and also spraying his new acquaintance with a small snowfall, Merry Christmas. His usual shy awkwardness seemed to have flown south for the winter as he glanced back as this foxy man and grinned, showing off white teeth.

"Yah bectcha I am." There was a few seconds of awkwardish silence where he didn't know what to say to the other before he blurted out "Ahm Lorenzo Knight. Ahnd yoo?" He hardly waited for the man's reply before his dual eyes turned to the hill he had just come down, it would be impossible to climb back up the way he had come down but what of the parked, rusted out vehicle shells that lined the street? The garden walls and fences that may possibly be climbed. His tail wagged high and friendly behind him as a new skittishness came into being within his chest. And his shoulders were lowered in play, showing his teeth in a friendly challenge to the much smaller male,

"Ah beet ah can geet to tha top afore you can." With that childish declaration Lorenzo was off, racing back towards the steep incline, his claws already slipping and sliding on the icy ground, climbing up the rusty metal would be difficult but not as impossible as sheer ice.

Sebastian did not expect to be assaulted by a sudden deluge of flying snow. The massive male who had crash-landed in the snowdrift immediately started flinging snow about the place and most of it seemed to land on Sebastian. The Italian didn't move for a moment as the snow covered him, and suddenly yelled out an Italian curse as he shook himself so hard it looked like a convulsion.

Lorenzo Knight, who had a sexy name, introduced himself breezily in a southern accent. Huh. Perhaps he was related to Jazper? A nephew, maybe, as he only had one of Jazper's surnames. And they certainly shared their height.

"Sebastian Auditore," he responded cheerfully, flicking some snow off his tail. He hardly finished speaking before he was abruptly challenged to a race by the excitable young man. Instinctively, he sprinted as soon as Lorenzo did, his relatively short legs giving him quite an impressive burst of speed. It was childish behaviour, but he was still a child.

Sebastian shot towards Lorenzo, hoping to get him back for the snowfall he had thrown on him. The rusty male attempted to throw his forelegs around Lorenzo's back legs and grab his tail in his jaws, trying to scramble up onto his back and jump ahead of the younger male. It was a move that would lively end in failure, but it would be amusing failure nevertheless.

my aoplogies for taking so long

A bark of laughter was all that greeted his sudden companion's curse and furious shaking. No threat of breached borders or intruders present tainted the meeting thus far. A sense of good will and accepting nature only, for they were not pack wolf and loner but simply two young males seeking fun times to be had whether through play or other means was non-essential information. He barely even caught the name, Sebastian before they were off on their race for the top of the hill.

His early start was the only advantage he had, being so much larger than his new found playmate he was considerably slower as well and within seconds of his abrupt challenge Sebastian was caught up to him. Paws attempted to trip up his rear end and would have succeeded if not for the fact that Enzo suddenly hit a patch of black ice and his legs were thrown out comically from underneath himself and he was wheeled around in circles trying to keep the little balance he had left. Claws scrabbled at the slippery road under foot but it was a futile effort and Enzo swiftly found himself sliding back down towards the snowpile with gathering speed.

It seemed as though his attempt to trip the much larger male had succeeded, as Sebastian hadn't noticed the patch of black ice underpaw. Sebastian managed to jump aside before he was struck by Enzo's frantic thrashings and watched with satisfaction as his foe slid back down. He watched with distinct superiority as Enzo fell to his defeat and jumped upwards, directly onto a slick patch of black ice.

Despite his natural grace and athleticism, Sebastian had not had very much experience with snow. His paws slipped out from beneath him and he landed on his side, spinning alarmingly. The lean Italian attempted to regain his balance with a jump forwards, which was accidentally a jump backwards. His paws slipped out once more and he spun until he faced the top of the hill, quickly sliding back down to the snowdrift at the bottom after Enzo. Digging his claws against the ice was ineffectual, and he was powerless to stop his slide downwards, his backside heading straight for Enzo with his tail sticking straight up with indignation at his failure.

Laughter was already pouring form the Knight's maw even before his adversary himself slipped upon the same patch of ice, his arrogance and inattentiveness also his downfall. He stopped spinning in time to view the spectacular fall the foxy male took and roared with mirth. His eyes watering as he tried to breathe through the heaving spasms that shook his body. His movement twisted his body as it rolled the last few feet and he ended up, on his back against what remained of the snow drift. Sebastian crashed into him not long after and crushed him further into the snow. Enzo was surprised at himself for the loud guffaws that came from him. This was the most fun he had had in a long stretch of time, the events of the last few months working to cover up any joy that might have been found.

"Eeerr well tha' deen't work." He said when he had finally calmed down enough to speak through harsh pants. His tongue lolled out to the side and his chest heaved up and down. He stood up and again shook the snow from his fur, showering his companion in snowflakes.

His tail remained rigid along with the rest of his body as he slid helplessly down the road, his body gradually starting to spin as he slid towards his newfound buddy. His newfound buddy who also happened to have the loudest laugh Sebastian had ever heard. Lorenzo was lucky that the Italian was in a good mood- had he been grumpy that day, now would have been the time he would have chosen to flounce off in a huff.

As it was, he stayed in his rigid position until he crashed into Enzo's broadside. He didn't do any damage, of course, as he likely weighed about a hundred and fifty pounds lighter than the giant. He rose to his paws unsteadily, swaying slightly as he shook his head. Still, Sebastian was alert. He darted underneath Enzo the second the giant tried to dump another load of snow on him, Sebastian's lithe body easily slipping underneath Enzo.

The artisan's tail whipped up against Lorenzo's underside. "No it did not. Stop dumping snow on me," he added warningly, reaching up to nip Lorenzo's jaw.
