sweet berries ready for two ghosts are no different than you

The past many days had been so very painful. The tears that streamed from her apple eyes were as rapid and numerous as the beats of her heart, and just as endless. Sometimes, she was distracted by the bright faces of the strangers around her and by the lovely interior of the Manor. She still cried. The wails of the first hours had softened into whimpers, until the tearful child wandered the manor in silence.

Her mother was gone forever. The gentle woman who had kept her alive, made her smile and feel loved would never appear, no matter how earnestly she wished or how loudly she called for her. But the shock was beginning to ebb, just as her skin healed and the sharp angles of her frame disappeared. Her fur was silky and she was plump and round as a puppy should be. There was a glow in her eyes that had not been there before. Though she had lost her mother, she had gained her health. Under her mother's care, she had been neither strong nor healthy.

The big white wolf, who had been talking to her for a long time, went into the house with a smile and a suggestion. He had assured her of things about her mother that she could not possibly grasp, but the confidence in his tone had long ago stopped the flow of her tears. She stared across the plane of snow and felt the first surge of energy since the pretty silver lady had found her out there. Getting to her feet, Blaise huffed and barreled off the porch at full speed, into a cold soft cloud. Giggles and snow erupted from where she landed. Go play.

Assuming the white wolf referenced was Kansas, and that this is alright? <3 If not, let me know and I can edit that part out! 343 words.

A calm sort of quiet had settled over the main room of the manor and the silver-painted princess' eyes had just started to drift shut when the sound of the door startled her awake. Artemis lifted her head quickly from where it had rested on her paws, stretched out in front of her on the couch in front of the fire, seeing her father's pale figure come in from outside, a short gust of brisk air following him in. The young Marino woman rose, padding to greet her father with a gentle nuzzle beneath his chin. She smiled when he told her that the pup she had found recently was outside in the snow, then made quick work of going outside, as well.

She was glad to know that Blaise had settled into the pack and seemed to be doing better after the circumstances that had left her for someone—anyone, really—to find in the land of the Dreamers. Artemis had worried greatly that the child would fail to thrive in her new pack for longing for her mother. Along with the lack of proper maternal nurturing, as well, was the simple fact that losing her mother so unexpectedly had the potential to cause emotional and mental anguish. It had worried her to know that the girl was alone in the world, though not any longer through the welcoming of the pack, and she was so glad that things were already changing for Blaise, and for the better, certainly.

Her muzzle opened in an almost giddy grin as she heard the pup's laughter, saw her bounding into the snow fearlessly. Tilting her head and angling her face away from the manor, Artemis determined not to look up at the roof. Fearless, she had once been. Those days were over now, ended prematurely by the drastic fall from the top of the building they all called home. Her tail waved excitedly behind her as she padded away from the steps of the porch some, laughing at the girl child's antics in the snow.

Blaise closed her eyes against the blinding white that had gently swallowed her, as tiny crystals were beginning to needle her eyes. At first, she liked the soft brightness holding her from all sides and did not wish to leave it. Then, the heat of her small body began to melt the snow, the small space became a suffocating dungeon and the impenetrable white started to frighten her. In sudden frustration, she wriggled violently, struggling against the freezing snow, until her head popped to the surface like a meerkat's, snow piled on top of her nose.

The pup pulled herself out of the snowdrift and rolled onto her side in a sporadic, awkward motion. Her chest heaved and the free air soothed her anger. Now that she was out of that tiny cold space, she felt much, much better. Blaise lifted her head and looked over her shoulder, back toward the manor, and her eyes blazed with surprise and happiness. Armiss! she squealed while leaping to her feet. Remembering her manners, the gray pup crawled on her belly toward the young woman who had played a big role in saving her life, ears against her head. She repeated what she had done the first time she met Artemis and swiped her tongue across pale paws, unable to reach her face gracefully. Play wiff me?

No worries! ^^ 241 words

The silver Dreamer laughed at the obvious offense Blaise took to the snow being around her, as well as the way the girl's face lit up when she saw the Marino woman. Artemis already felt lighter at heart after having been around the puppy for only a few moments; perhaps that was what the world needed. More puppies. No one could be upset or angry when there were young puppies around, and maybe then there would be no more war. Of course, she knew that this was flawed thinking, as the war with AniWaya had been related to the puppies of the Utina couple, but she could pretend that was not the case and that more puppies would solve all the world's problems, couldn't she?

Lowering her chest to the snow, Artemis returned the affectionate lick with one of her own, swiping her tongue over the young girl's forehead in a quick motion. "What do you wanna play?" she asked the young girl, tail wagging languidly behind her. She had been an excited and rambunctious pup herself, but she had not had the pleasure of playing in the winter time when she was as young as Blaise was, and the snow had not been much of a pleasure to her the previous winter. She didn't know any snow-specific games, and even then, it would be better to let Blaise pick, anyway. Then they were guaranteed to play a game she liked.

Her forehead prickled a little bit where Artemis kissed and she giggled joyfully at the funny, happy feeling. Everyone in Crimson Dreams was so nice! Her mother had told her that there were some very bad wolves in the world and she was sure to encounter many of them as she grew up. Blaise would not believe it. She hadn't met one bad wolf in her entire short life, and that was enough to convince her that she never would.

Hmm... She narrowed her eyes slightly, thinking. Unless her mother was in the mood, she usually played by herself, exploring the forest around the cabin, making up stories based on the books her mother had read to her. She knew only two kinds of playing that involved mutliple wolves: tag and hide-and-go-seek. Tag was a lot of fun, but the snow was too deep for running, and she didn't feel much like running anyway. That left one option. I know! she cried shrilly and with a smile, very excited. Hide-an'-seek. I c'ose my eyes, you hide. Blaise nudged the silver girl as she spoke, stood abruptly, and went toward the stairs of the porch to begin counting.
