How close is too close?

The time for New Dawn had almost come, and with their dream so close to realization – with New Dawn so close to birth – the two would be leaders had much on their paws to ensure the smooth emergence of their pack. Already they had spent a full moon's turn preparing for their pack. They had surveyed, selected, and marked their territory. They had spread the word and selected the wolves who would join them at their side in their quest to live as naturally as they could, as wolves were meant to live. They had also met their neighbors, the peace loving clan called Ichika no Ho-en and laid the foundation for a strong unity between their young pack. The young alpha female to be just wanted to do a little more footwork to ensure that everything was ready, and she wanted to know the land beyond her borders as well as the land that would become New Dawn's claim.

That is why her paws now pranced on unfamiliar soil. The snowy wolfess had descended from the rocky cliffs of the Halcyon Mountains, already knowing well what lay within the stony peaks. At first she traveled with purpose, stopping to sample scents and try to associate certain land marks with others so she could draw a mental map of the place, but as the valley came into view her curiosity of what lay before her outgrew her work ethic. It was by accident that she became lax in her survey of the lands.

Of course, Zalen had warned her not to go near this place. The problem was, since she had never been here to begin with, she didn't realize that the land near which she now poked her nose was the treacherous land of Salsola. If she knew it was this place that she looked at now she would also know that Luperci had a way of disappearing into this land, never to be seen again. Yet somewhere distraction had taken hold and now confusion set in as she put her black tipped nose to the ground to learn the scent makeup of this place.

The musk of the leaders was strong and extended past the point she thought they meant to claim. Even though she did not know what pack was here, her instincts told her that this place was unlikely to welcome visitors. Still, she needed to know... They weren't that far from New Dawn's hopeful territory, and she needed to know who was out here. Her belly was close to the ground and her ears tilted back in caution, yet she inched closer to Salsola... to trouble...

Baww, poor lovely Titania! She's just being a nice neighbour, cranky Siri is mean! >> + 510

It was rare that he took to his two-legged form. The King felt a constant strive for civility, to disguise the beast that lingered deep beneath his handsome façade. The Optime form had other benefits, and as an adorer of human artifacts and gluttonous hoarding alike, the thistle monarch excelled in the uses of his hands. But, as a primal animal, urges always surfaced - The primary one, and the only reason that Sirius was out in his Lupus form of late, was to hunt.

The man was a renown hunter. Those in his pack he knew of his skill in this area often named him for it. There was something terrifyingly primal and wicked about the Hunter, and his keen ability to sniff out, and end, prey and foe alike. He had never received combat training; In his mind, Sirius had never needed to. Why fight out in the open when you can HUNT? The ingenuity of his mind knew that it was far easier, if not far less honorable, to ambush - To sneak, to assassinate. That was the way of the Lord Hunter, and that was the way of his beloved Salsola. It was probably for this reason that their cut-throat reputation was beginning to bleed out through all the packs.

But, apparently, the mysterious and reserved pack had not yet made enough of a name off of their brutality to frighten off the would-be explorers. The scent of the intruder curled in his nostrils, was sucked deep into his lungs. Hungry eyes, the pupil slit and almost invisible in the midst of the acidic olive hue of his sclera, voraciously tracked the prints the female left behind. She had unwittingly stumbled in the path of one of the deadliest hunters this side of Halcyon, and such a mistake would not be left unheeded. Sirius was not a King for nothing - Although his silver tongue had bound many 'Souls to him, words along would not control the wicked masses. It was the inner beast that ruled the primal souls of Salsola, a beast that had been unleashed the second Sirius took to his four-legged form and sought the blood of prey.

He was invisible, a dark shadow in the territory he had come to know as well as the shade of his own pelt. The wolf came into view before him, and he crouched, a starving, deadly look to the glowing eyes of the hunter. From this view he could see little of her, but for the silky silver and rust of her pelt. The muscles in his hind legs bunched and gathered, rippling beneath his pelt as the large, lean hybrid shifted low to the earth. Then, with a venomous snarl, he bounded from the depths of the forest, yellow teeth flashing. His heavy, masculine form flew through the air, seeking to knock the stranger from her course and preferably off of her feet. He did not wish to draw blood, not yet - Although inherently wicked, Sirius was not a murderer without just cause.
