Oh snap!

By mistake, Gemma has allowed all of AniWaya's sheep to escape. Ulilohi happened to be in the stables, and has called for all able AniWayan hands to aid in the re-capture of this valuable part of their livestock.

8 ewes and 4 lambs have escaped. These sheep are generally quite jumpy and have much of their instincts intact, after being forced to survive on their own for the last few decades. The sheep face the perils of cold weather and wilderness. Have your character aid in any way possible. There are no restrictions here, as long as you do not injure the sheep - or anyone else Wink

Somewhere along the line Gemma got it into her head that she should go visit the many animals that AniWaya kept hold of. It took her several days before she had the free time and the inclination and energy to make the trek all the way out to the stables and paddocks where the assorted herds of herbivores were kept. Despite being here for several weeks now she still didn't know the majority of the AniWaya territory. If it wasn't close to the village then she had difficulty finding it without complications and getting lost. It took her several hours of aimless wandering before she finally reached the place she was searching for. The ivory femme leaned against one of the fences and watched the sheep amble about in their small flock. They were cute with their fluffiness.

One of the lambs nearby baa'ed at her and the woman couldn't help but giggle, so cute! They seemed friendly enough and ever so sweet and she wanted to get closer to one. She took a quick look around to see is anyone was nearby, any stable keepers that might tell her off, it wasn't that she was being naughty she just wanted to see them, be in their flock for a little bit. Quietly the Sawtooth girl opened the gate and slipped inside and in her excitement forgot to close it, the sheep were not by nature curious creatures and were mostly uninterested in the open gate to freedom and Gemma might have gotten away with this small lapse in memory if she had decided to simply stay in with the Ewe's and lambs, the ewes were calm with her being there as they were used to wolves and luperci being around. If she had just simply stayed or even turned around before going forth then she might have been okay and saved herself a lot of misery and heartache.

But Gemma's luck at times were phenomenally bad and she didn't notice she had left the gate open nor did she understand the true folly of what she was about to do. She was so very wrong in thinking that the rams that were separated from the ewes would be as calm and placid as their female counterparts, she couldn't have been more wrong if she had tried. She leaned against the fence that separated them and looked down upon them, they looked peaceful enough while they grazed on their stored hay, she thought that maybe they would want visitors as well, sometimes Gemma did live up to the stigma of blondes even though she was white furred and could be extremely dense and stupid at times.

The second she had swung herself over the gate the rams took immediate offense to her presence and the closest one rushed at her with his head lowered intent on sending this pest back to where she had come from. He hit her full in the stomach and the woman fell to the ground with a loud shriek. Her scream had the effect of sending the rams scattering away from her but also the added effect of causing a stampede from the ewes and lambs and as Gemma clambered to her feet and threw herself over the fence she saw with mounting horror the paddock gate she had left wide open and the herd of sheep now running through it in an attempt to escape this noise making beast among them,

"Oh. Oh no, what have I done." the pale woman whispered to herself. "Come back, please come back." She stood to he feet and shouted after them, provoking them to scatter all the more around,

"Come back! You can't go out there! Please don't run away!" She took off towards the gate in a strange limping run, her stomach ached fiercely from where the male's horns had caught her and already she could feel bruising forming. Tears began to form in her eyes as she bent over gasping for breath, she was no runner or sprinter and soon found a pain in her side, a stitch. Poor, pathetic Gemma stood and watched with morose dejection as the herd of white fluff scattered all over into the wilderness.

Ulilohi had finally ventured to the stables to pick out a horse. She had arrived here on a mount, but sent it back with her friend and the prisoners, and now she had no particular horse. Not that she had ever been "close" with the one she had used to get here: frankly, she never really considered that a horse could be hers in that sense. But she saw that many in this place had strong bonds to their horses, and though she wasn't sure if it was envy or curiosity, she had eventually decided that she wanted to try this out. Coming to the stables, she had hoped to find an animal tender there, but as she entered the largest building, where the horses were held, she had seen no one.

She looked in particular for a horse able to hold someone her size. Previously, she had used strong and stocky horses, but they were often short, and she wasn't sure if that was the best choice now that she was to lead this tribe. She needed to be prominent, and a stocky, short horse wasn't necessarily very impressive. As she examined one particularly impressive horse, a tall stallion with a temper, her ears automatically turned towards the outside and the shriek that was exclaimed somewhere out there. Quickly closing the stall to the stallion, she moved outside only to see white-furred Gemma on the ground in the sheep's enclosure, and the ewes and lambs quickly pouring out the gate and into freedom. With an alarmed exclamation that only served to spook the sheep further, she watched as Gemma picked herself up and escaped the rams' enclosure, and immediately and quite easily crossed the closest fences to make her way over there and close the gate. Gemma beat her to it, but all of the sheep escaped both her and Ulilohi's clutches as she tried to grab any of them. In the end, they were all lost, fleeing a nonexistant enemy into a much more dangerous existence.

Finally, frustrated, Ulilohi threw her arms out from her sides and sighed heavily before turning to Gemma. "Are you okay?" She was more tempted to ask what had happened, however she wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer. The gate should never have been open like that. This situation was utterly hopeless just then - their dinner, and their clothing, had just escaped their caretakers. They might injure themselves, or even enter the village and cause damage there. Some ewes had stopped still in sight, one even with a lamb close behind, but were still edgy, staring back at them with their ears erect. Throwing her head back, Ulilohi called for the attention of all tribesmembers. The sound further scared the few remaining sheep away, and Ulilohi sighed again as she watched them disappear among the trees. They would need all the hands in the tribe to save themselves from this disaster. How could they ever fix this without losses?

Light was minding his own business, not really doing much other than sorting through his stocks of meat in order to add them to the stores. Makade was rather pleasant to have around as he often sung with her putting words to her delightful tunes. Mostly it was melodic rambling of his actions. In that moment he was merely humming and Makade rubbed her tiny head against his muzzle. Suddenly she stopped and her head turned abruptly. Something had happened, she didn’t seem too worried but the action was enough to have Light stop his duties.
aaniin ezhinikaadeg? Makade
Light started to head toward the stables. He stopped suddenly at the sound of a lamb’s cry. The adorable puff of white hid between the huts its gangly legs trembling beneath it. Light gave a soft smile and started to attempt to catch the young sheep. He lowered his body as far as he could carefully approaching the creature with a delicate step. It’s ok little one, let’s get you home. He reached forward to grab it but his actions were too quick, it started to bound and bounce in a clumsy manner. Light reacted trying to grab it swiftly but fell upon his face. Makade chuckled in a whistling tune and Light joined. Seems we have a busy day ahead of us. He said as he raised his eyes only to see sheep left and right spreading across with swift steps and bounds. They were spooked and unattended. Light arose and started to track the young lamb fearing the tiny one would be too vulnerable on its own. He knew nothing of their escape just that he was aware they needed to be returned or they would lose their livestock to other creatures that scoured the land. The hunter began his duty and used his tracking skill to his whim.

Table is ironic for the sheep XD Didn't really get into the chase all that much--I assumed this was like an introduction post? (Nootau: Not visible)

Today was one of the rare days that Alaster and Ralla got to spend together, what with duties and separate schedules and three other children to look after--two of them particular being very troublesome lately. Ralla didn't know where Ayasha and Ahiga were that day--Ayasha's disappearances being more frequent lately and increasingly more worrisome--but she could only assume them both doing their duties, having no other leads to go by. Sighing, she sent her son a smile when he tugged on her arm, worried about--but probably aware anyway--of her own troubles. Alaster rarely spoke without his twin in the vicinity, and so had learned to ask and communicate things with simple looks and actions. They sufficed.

The two had actually been on their way to the stables for Alaster to show his mother the growing lambs--she was pretty sure the boy would grow up to tread the Animal Caretaker path, as he spent time with the beasts enough--when the call was heard. Both mother and son pricked their ears to listen, and hastened their steps to the origin of the sound. There they found Ulilohi and a flustered Gemma...and empty pastures. Alaster's ears and face fell, but Ralla could only guess why there had been a summoning and such a scene. She knew what this meant if they could not be recovered, and thus knew the urgency as well. She looked at Ulilohi for a moment to at least give affirmation that they understood what had to be done, but before she could say a word her son was tugging her arm in one direction towards the surrounding forest. She guessed that meant the chase was on.

While the main village itself was on a clear plains (save for the occasional tree), the stables, pastures, and crop fields were much closer to the forest that encompassed them, and was thus dangerous for such gentle creatures. The borders might've kept other wolves out, but other predators were sometimes callous enough to come close to their territory. "Ayv agowadvdi saquu!" he whisper-shouted as he pointed out to where a flash on white was seen moving against an evergreen. Quickly the two luperci ran through the snow, but Ralla urged her son to go around one side while she went the other--a typical tactic normally used for hunting. As they pursued their target, a question was about to be answered: How many wolves did it take to catch a sheep?

She felt sick and the rapidly forming bruise on her stomach ached fiercely, she watched rather helplessly as the white woolly creatures move further and further away from her, unable to run or keep up with them thanks to the headbutt to the midriff she had received, it hurt to even breath at the moment. Now that the adrenalin had drained she was completely useless as always. To add to her mortification the leader woman that had taken Claudius' place arrived just seconds after her, panting with an annoyed look on her face. She must have been in the stables Gemma realised. The scrap of a woman looked ever smaller next to the giant frame of Ulilohi and she pressed her ears close to her head, snowy tail curling between her legs, a quiet whimper falling from her lips.

"I'm s-s-sorry, I d-d-didn't mean t-to..." Meant to what exactly? Leave the gate hanging wide open? Foolishly entering the ram's enclosure? Or screaming in such a way that now every sheep AniWaya owned was now fleeing the scene into the shrubbery surrounding it? The stutter in her voice provoked by fear only served to worsen her embarrassment. It was all so hopeless, the woman sunk to her knees and began to cry pathetically, she couldn't have stopped herself even if she had wanted to. The whole day was ruined now and maybe her place in AniWaya was in jeopardy as well. The woman could hardly believe her wretched luck, of all the people why did it have to be herself.

Once her walloing in self pity parties got started they were pretty damn hard to stop so unless the council woman was willing to slap Gemma around the face to bring her back to reason she wouldn't be getting a lick of sense out of her.

This is a 'prologue' to this thread here~(<==click) :3

Alaster was really quite disappointed when they arrived at the stables...

Even through the winter the sheep were weathering the climate well, and the small lambs were the best troopers of the lot. They always huddled close to their mothers for warmth, and he had always had fun feeding them by hand when he had the chance. Ahiga didn't really see why his brother loved the animals much, but he never made fun of him for it. Alaster dreamed that one day he would have a horse and a full flock of sheep to look after--he really wanted to do this!

But the disarray of the pasture gates and Gemma was enough to tell them what had happened, if Ulilohi's call had not been enough. His green eyes searched out the surrounding bareness of the land, and caught the flash of white against an evergreen. He called for his mother to follow, and she did so without much resistance. More than anything, Alaster was worried about the small lambs being so far away from their mothers and the warmth of the stables; they were too young still to have the full wool to keep them warm, and the bitter cold of the land would get to them if they didn't. A hand on his shoulder alerted Alaster that his mother wanted him to go around one way while she went the other, and he complied obediently. The two white wolves thus circles to enclose the sheep between them, and hid close to the snow and behind the evergreens. The snow was good cover for them, in both sight and scent, and the wind was favorable today to blow their scent away from the sheep. Ralla had a little more trouble with camouflage due to her markings, so it was already decided who would do what. Slowly Alaster crept closer--him being smaller--towards the sheep as his mother readied herself on the other side, where she would leap and surprise the animal right into Alaster's arms. She did so with a mighty leap, scarring the animal right to him.

It certainly put up a fight, even as Alaster leaped on top of it. Ralla had to come soon to help him because he did not have the muscle mass of his twin to hold it down himself. But she did, and so when it was calmed by the boy's petting and words (he always did love to talk to them because it seemed like they were always listening) she picked it up. But his ears twitched, then, as a small bleating was heard not far away. "Ayv wili anagisdi agisdiyi nasgi!" Alaster whispered to Ralla as he began to walk in the direction he had heard the noise, recognizing it as one of the lambs. She nodded and let her son go off, knowing that she had to return this one sheep first and foremost. The thing seemed to get a little nervous when Alaster left, but he had to find the lamb...!

The little thing was one of the more skittish ones, and so it ran Alaster on a merry chase; over hills, jumping a creek, and around large boulders and trees. If Alaster didn't hurry it up, the lamb would leave the territory or be snatched by a predator, and then where'd he be? But it was a little late to worry about it being out of the territory; they had already gone out of it. The white boy's steps quickened as he ran for the lamb now, desperate to claim it before harm did. It crested a hill, and while Alaster was following, his feet his an icy patch.

Before he could even let out a yelp, everything went black...

Gemma whimpered some excuses and Ulilohi glanced at her, to the sheep, and back again. She was uncertain as to where to begin. Gemma could be seriously hurt - a ram should never be underestimated. Still... the sheep! It was lucky that the rams weren't on the loose too, as they would be quite dangerous to the pack's puppies and other fragiles. Turning towards Gemma, who had now started crygin, she spoke sternly, though not without care, to the woman. "How bad is your injury?" She began with the question, but instead of waiting came of better thoughts and answered it herself. "No, wait — I want you to go and see the medics in the Village, to make sure. Can you manage on your own?" Even if Ulilohi felt pity for the woman, who was now gushing tears as if it was flooding season, she did not have time to spare to help her unless absolutely necessary. If Gemma could manage on her own, that would be the best shot. She tried to appear patient and understanding while waiting for Gemma's answer, but the truth of it was that right then, Ulilohi had very little of either.

It didn't take long for some tribesmembers to appear. Some had immediately understood the situation, others had not. It was hard to take charge in a situation like this if you were not high of rank; she knew this all too well herself. Clearing her throat pointedly, she spoke to those that had come but were still bewildered. Those already at work with catching sheep might not hear her, but the councilwoman spoke extra loudly just in case. "The sheep have escaped! Please approach them with care and try to catch them — I mean to have every last sheep back in this pen by nightfall!" It was, perhaps, a considerable task in a short time period, but Ulilohi was not so certain that she was comfortable with having their sheep out in the middle of the night. One never knew what predators the AniWayans were competing with for food. Just as she had delivered that message, a few others arrived, and Ulilohi began to individually inform every fresh fact about what had happened. Then, she would be crossing her fingers like everyone else.

When the councilwoman spoke to her again, Gemma flinched as though the large woman has struck her and cowered some more. She hardly even understood the words being spoken to her, she was waiting for the exile to fall, the ones that would send her away forever. The poor abused woman had gotten it into her head that she was going to be kicked out and now truly believed this. They would treat her out of pity and then kick her into the cold where she would be worse than helpless. and Matteo wasn't even here to back her up! He was off on another of his wandering journeys to god knows where. He wasn't here to help her!

Finally the words of Ulilohi cut through to her hysterical mind and she recognized the order within them. she was to go see the healer? Gemma didn't know the woman healer, only that she was white furred like herself and hate two kids with her mate who Gemma also didn't know. She couldn't go see her, not on her own at least. She was really frightened now and was beginning to lose all sense of sanity or her grip on it. She held enough of it though to force herself into movement and follow Ulilohi's directions. It took some effort but she pulled herself to her feet, swaying precariously for a second,

"Y..y..y..yes. I..i..i..i'll go s..s..s..see her." She staggered forwards almost losing her balance before gaining it again. She took off, away from the commotion and away from where her unknown pack mates were quickly converging upon and towards the village. She heard the leader's loud voice explaining the situation and felt another stab of shame and uselessness pierce her flesh. She was so stupid. Gemma entered the village but didn't head towards the healer's home isntead she headed for her own home and after a quick check to make sure Teo had not returned, she dumped off her clothes and she left the house and she left the village and finally left Aniwaya all together, they would be better off without her, she was sure of it, they would be able to fix her mess with their numbers and then they would say good riddance to her when they figured out she had gone.

So she set off into the wilderness alone despite mere minutes ago not wanting to leave and terrified of being kicked out. She had no food with her and no weapons. All of her things were in her once home along with Teo's. Her clothes had been discarded and Gemma quickly shifted down into her secui form, it would help her with getting away in case somebody came looking for her to make her pay for her stupidity. Tears still half blinded her as she ran in whichever direction, not even knowing enough of the land to make an educated guess on what places were where, she would be reduced to cluless wandering in the hopes that she could find somewhere, some pack that would take a useless creature like herself in, maybe teach her to not be so dumb.

Light had successfully caught the lamb and carried the little thing toward the stable. The task of catching the little lamb had not been one of great ease its fire quite sparked within its little heavy beating heart. He had to run it slightly weary until he finally made his move again, he saw other sheep about and would help to herd them back to their home but he figured this little guy would be safer to carry to its pen in that moment. He heard rustling in the trees and his nose rose to the air as he protected the sheep from any harm. Gemma? He thought and started to head towards the noises that sounded like whimpering or crying. What had her so distraught he did not know. Finally he found her nearly missing her as she quickly ran by. Gemma? He called out hoping she would notice him, he couldn’t leave her in such a state but he also knew the lamb needed to be taken home. He sighed heavily and looked after her as she headed toward the borders just suddenly like she was lost. He regained his trail and found himself finally at the pen. He settled the little lamb in its home that he ensured was secure before he started to shift into his lupus form. He would help herd as he could and headed out in search of more sheep.
